Working longer is a global conversation, and countries around the globe have something to teach us. People over 60 are working longer, and countries are responding in different ways. One thing is clear: the 60+ workforce is becoming a vital and growing part of modern workforces.

This 60 and More Crowd Podcast episode brings together brief workforce overviews from six countries around the world: Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Japan, Canada and Germany.

“It is a Canadian-produced podcast exploring how work is changing as people live and work longer — through a global lens.”

These are short on the go episodes less than 7 minutes, The podcast is an independent project, Sue Plant is the executive producer and founder. How are these countries responding to and adapting to people staying longer in the workforce?

What can we learn from workforce trends elsewhere?

In this brief global overview, you’ll hear how participation rates, retirement patterns, and work options vary across countries and how these differences shape the experience of older workers. A glimpse into the broader landscape — and how the story of work after 60 is unfolding internationally.

Sue Plant: Inspiration for The 60 and More Crowd Podcast

I am personally on the work-longer path, after leaving my longtime publishing career at Scholastic.  Here are three key themes:

  1. Curiosity: how are others navigating it
  2. How are employers and workplaces adapting to this major workforce shift of longer work lives and careers
  3. Older workers bring immense value to the marketplace- skill, experience and perspective. Organizations will need our skill and expertise going forward
