How Gratitude Unlocks Everything You’ve Been Waiting For
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
This week, I’m diving into something that truly sits at the core of everything I believe in—gratitude. Not just the kind you say out loud once in a while, but the kind that actually shifts your mindset, your energy, and ultimately what you attract into your life. I share how gratitude ties directly into manifestations, affirmations, and trusting divine timing… even when it feels like things are taking way longer than they should.
I also get real about the everyday moments—those small acts of kindness we often overlook—and why acknowledging them matters more than we think. From patience and surrender to planting seeds you can’t yet see growing, this episode is a reminder that there’s always something happening beneath the surface. If you’ve been feeling stuck, frustrated, or just in need of a reset, this conversation is for you.

Hi everyone, and welcome to the music of Life. I'm your host. Karen Portnoy, before I get into this episode, please comment, ask questions, share some of your experiences, and don't forget to subscribe. You. Hi everyone. I wanted to talk a little bit about gratitude this week. I don't know, for my spiritual listeners, maybe you do affirmations, or you manifest or anything like that, and you know very well how important gratitude is to manifest those things in your life, and also when you do your affirmations, the more that you are grateful to God, the universe, creator, source, whatever you call that power bigger than you. You know that gratitude is what amplifies and brings in those blessings and abundance and opportunities and miracles and all those things. So it's really the cornerstone to getting the things that you want out of life, and especially when you're grateful for them, as if they're already here rather than waiting for it, or, you know, speaking it into existence for the future. So if you speak these manifestations and affirmations as if the thing is already here in your life, and you are appreciative and grateful and thankful, that's kind of the formula for how it all works. Of course, we all know that everything happens in divine timing, though, so we can put it out there in the universe and the ethers that you know we want something, but we have no control over when it happens. And that doesn't mean that God or the universe or whoever you call that power bigger than you, it doesn't mean that it's not going to come. It just means that it may not come in the timeline that you're hoping it does. So we have to learn patience and we have to learn to surrender. And what I have found myself is that God's timing is perfect timing. You know, whatever goes on up there, out there, whatever that that God's working on. It, everything, all the pieces have to line up perfectly. And oftentimes, you kind of, you're you're waiting, you're wondering, you're questioning, like, why is this taking so long? Or, you know, whatever. And when the thing actually shows up in your life, then you look back and everything makes perfect sense why it took as long as it took. Because all the things had to align perfectly for all these blessings and opportunities and miracles and whatever, for all of that to come into your life. So sometimes you have to kind of step back and take a look at the big picture and and just kind of detach from it. You know, once you put it out there, just kind of let it go and release it and let God take the take the wheel. So it's interesting, the gratitude that I was just talking about was really about manifestations and affirmations. But you know, in day to day life, there's a lot that I'm thankful for throughout the day. And it could be, you know, that somebody held the elevator door for me, or somebody saved me a seat somewhere. Or, you know, like it could be the most small, mundane, insignificant thing, but I acknowledge acts of kindness towards me, because I am kind to other people, and so when I get it back, I'm very grateful for it, but those little acts of kindness throughout the day, they all add up, you know, extending gratitude, or, you know, thanking someone, or, I don't know, I mean, I witness so much entitlement and arrogance. This is really annoying to me. I just don't like when, you know, you hold the door for someone, they don't even acknowledge you, let alone say thank you. It just drives me nuts. Like, why do you have to be like that? Why can't you just acknowledge another person and say thanks, have a great day. Doesn't take a lot, but I guess for some people, it does. Unfortunately, I married one of those people. Oh, but then I divorced them all good now, not really, but I'm even grateful for the harassing texts I still get from him. How do you like that? Hey, I just want to take a minute and tell you about the divorce mentorship program that I created. It's called becoming whole again, and I created it mostly for women who were either considering divorcing their toxic spouse, or they're in the middle of a toxic divorce, or they're on the other side of a toxic divorce, at any stage that you're dealing with the emotional fallout from a horrific, toxic divorce. You know what I mean, the text, the triggers, the berating, the harassment, the threats, all those things. I've been there and I know what you're going through. This isn't therapy, I promise. This is real, hands on support from somebody who has been where you are. I survived it. I thrived from it, and I've actually transformed from it, and along the way, I've gained so much wisdom from a spiritual healing journey that I am so happy to share with you and help you. It's not about fixing you, it's not about telling you what to do. It's about guiding you and guiding you back to yourself. There are so many people out there who need this. I promise you, I hear from them daily. Thank you for your support and thank you for listening. Okay, now back to the show. So you know, I'm kind of in the midst of, I've got a lot of irons in the fire for my business, my work, and lot of projects that I'm in the midst of trying to push along, and I find myself being grateful for, you know, even the ideas that are coming into my head about what I want to work on next, and what who I want to work with next, and you know, what I'm envisioning for the future and what I'm working towards, and all those things. And it's, it's really kind of like I, the only way I can describe it as planting seeds and and waiting, waiting, waiting until it's harvest season. You know, it's like you just, you don't know what goes on under the soil once you plant those seeds. And, you know, I have a couple of plants in my place, and I was actually pulling out some, you know, dead, not leaves. It was, it was more like roots. There was some like, dead or dried out roots. And I was trying to, like, pull it out or cut it out so that, you know, I could freshen it up and get rid of all the dead stuff that wasn't growing. So I started pulling on one of the roots, and it was like, I started to see, first of all, it looked endless, like, I didn't realize it went down as far as it did, but there was, like, a whole network of other roots that were all combined and intertwined. And it's like, whoa. I didn't realize that all this was happening under the soil, because if you can't see it, how would you know? But that's exactly what happens in a garden, you know, with flowers, whatever, any kind of plant. And so to know that there are things going on under the surface that you can't see, it's kind of cool to know that you know things are happening, even though we don't know about it, and I'm grateful for that. You know, when I pray and when I'm in meditation, I'm I oftentimes, you know, I, I thank God for things that are basic, basic needs, you know, food, clothing, shelter. I thank him for my health. You know, perfect health, I want to say, you know, thank you for perfect health, whether I have perfect health or not. That's what I'm thanking him for, because that's what I want to bring in. You I thank God for safety and protection constantly. I feel very protected and I feel very safe, and that's that's like a constant thing that I'm thanking him for. And I will even say that I am grateful to all of you out there listening to this podcast, and for those of you who come back each week, or maybe refer this podcast to somebody who's going through a toxic divorce, or is considering divorce from their spouse, or maybe is on the other side. Side of a divorce. So, you know, I appreciate that you guys are willing and able to refer me and this podcast to other people. In fact, somebody just told me that they that they referred me to somebody who's going through a terrible divorce, and she thought of me and told this person about this podcast, and it was just so nice, and I was very appreciative. So I will just say that the more that we align ourselves with gratitude for whatever is going on in our life, whenever we're looking to bring into our lives, whether it's people, places, things, projects, whatever could be anything, it's really important to express gratitude. It just, I think it keeps us aligned with being a good person and ensuring your good karma, things like that. I think it's just, it's really, really good thing to do anyway. I think I'm gonna wrap it up right now and I will see you guys next week. Thank you for listening. Take care. Please join me every Thursday for a new episode.
