Thank you so much for tuning into the Mr. Mind podcast. Your twice a week dose of living well, I am Ryan Johnson, your mindset coach for the day. Let us break it down. Your mindset is basically the operating system of your brain. Okay? So if your mindset is Windows 98, my friend, you are going to struggle. However, once you upgrade to something better, everything will run smoother. And this makes sense, right? So the question is, are you stuck in the old way of thinking or the new upgraded way of thinking? Ask yourself this. Do you say things like, I suck at this, or things will never work out for me, or why does life hate me as well? I have news for you. That is the old mindset thinking, we need to upgrade. I can do better at this. I can get better at this. I make things work for me.
(02:02)
Life is my hype, and this is the new mindset thinking. Something that we really need to understand is that the way we think literally changes our reality. If we keep telling ourselves we can't, well congratulations, we're going to be right. But flip that script. Once you flip that script, we will start seeing opportunities instead of roadblocks. And it's amazing because it's almost instant. Okay? Let's get into the meat and potatoes of the whole thing, or the miso soup and salmon or the bacon in it. Okay, I'm just hungry. Sorry about that. Listen, listen, listen. I'm going to give you guys three mindset shifts that would change your life. Shift. Number one, change from victim to CEO of your whole entire life, okay? Because we all know life is unfair. It's shocking. But here's the thing, guys, you can either sit in a backseat and let life drive you to the ditch, or we can grab the wheel and start making our own moves.
(03:09)
We don't want to be in victim mode, but how do we know if we're in victim mode, blaming circumstances for why we're stuck? Waiting for someone to save us saying things like, I can't just because blah, blah, blah. That is a victim mindset, and we need to get out of that. We need to take radical ownership of us. We need to ask, how can I take control of this situation? And even if we can't change the problem, we always, always can change how we respond to 'em. I mean, think about it. If someone steals your sandwich, I know this sucks horrible, horrible times, but are you going to starve? Nah, we're going to find another sandwich. That is the energy that we need in life. Here's a second one. We need to shift from fear to action mode because fear is just our brain trying to keep us from embarrassing ourselves.
(04:04)
But here's the kicker. Most of the time the thing that we're scared of isn't even real because fear lies to us. It lies to us all the time. If I fail, everyone will laugh at me. No one cares. I'm not ready yet. What if I mess up? Here's the thing, what if you don't? And about being ready. I have a news flash for you guys. You'll never be ready. We just have to go. What if we could reframe fear as proof that we're growing? What's really happening? We're growing. That's why we're scared, right? Our brain has to keep us comfortable because it likes familiarity. So we're growing. Something to really understand is fear is not a stop sign. It's just a weird annoying speed bump. We can just drive over it because worst case scenario, we learn something. Best case scenario, we succeed. Either way, we win. Here's the third one, shift from how long to how far can I go? Most people quit because they don't see instant results. They start on a goal on Monday. Then by Friday, they're like, why am I not rich? Where is all of my fame? And the reason for that is because they fall into common mindset traps. How about this one? I've been working out for a week. Why don't I have abs? I posted one video. Why am I not going viral? I started a business. Why am I not a millionaire?
(05:42)
Common mindset traps. We need to flip that. We need to stop focusing on how fast and start focusing on how far small consistent steps. That's how we do it, because small, consistent steps that equals massive results over time. And if we just get 1% better every day and a year, we're about 37 times better because math will math. Listen, if we focus on steady growth instead of overnight success, we will win. And that's just how it is. That's just how it is. So the big question is how do we apply this right now? Try one minute morning mindset reset. Okay? You're going to wake up, you're going to stretch. No checking your phone. Ask yourself, what's one belief? I need a flip today. Just one. What is one, not two, not five, not six, one. And once you figure out what that belief is, choose an action that matches that new belief.
(06:49)
For instance, your old belief could be, I am bad at talking to people and you change it to something like I can improve. Then your action to that will be to say one extra thing to someone today. Not just, Hey, good morning there, Tom. Hey, good morning, Samuel. What are you going to say after that? How about whatcha are you going to do today? How was your day last night? What'd you do last night? What'd you eat for dinner last night? That's something I always ask someone and it throws 'em off. I say, Hey, what did you eat for dinner last night? And they're like, you see 'em leave. They stop in their tracks and they're like, why is he asking me this question? It really throws people off. But throw yourself out there. Throw yourself out there. It feels good. Do some mindset reps as well in the morning, just like the gym, right?
(07:32)
You're going to catch negative self-talk. You're going to challenge it and you're going to change it. I want you to remember something you wouldn't expect abs after one gym session, so don't expect a brand new mindset overnight, but with consistency, you'll shock yourself with how much you can grow. I promise you today is just a little bit shorter than usual, but on Thursday, I'll make it up to you. Thank you so much for tuning into the Mr. Mind podcast. Hey, look, if you got something today, if you could share it to someone, to that friend, to that family member that might get something from it, that would amazing. But more importantly, if you can do me a huge favor, that very last person that you sent a text message to, can you send that person a text? Unless you're trying to avoid the person, right? Of course. Send them a text and say, Hey, I hope you're having a great morning. I hope your day is amazing, and I hope your night is even better, because you never know. They just might need it.
