Hello, welcome to Decoding Clients for Stylists. I'm Shannon Kahrhoff. This week I wanna go over the actual details to figure out which personality you are. I've assumed everyone has been able to figure it out with the past recordings and podcast releases, but. I know I'm a person that needs step by step to break it down, to make it definite. This is who I am. Let's eliminate the questions on who do you think you are, and let's go into more specific. Let's start with, do you remember what the personalities are? The personality code we have, the direct, the fun-loving the rule maker and the steady. Now if you've been listening through this whole thing and you've. You pretty much think you know who you are personality wise on which personality code you are. Fantastic. This is wonderful. This might just solidify things a little bit more for you, or you might be able to pass it on to a friend that you've told about this podcast and they're a little bit more in the dark of which one they think they are. And remember, most people are a mix of different personalities, so you need to think of which one you feel like you are at your happiest moment. When you are alone by yourself and you don't have any influences anywhere, which one really feels like you? And if you have any doubts, always ask a friend because. My friends are pretty honest and blunt, so hopefully most friends are. The first thing that I always like to think of with personalities is the basics on how you like your details and how you like to be around people. So let's start with the first one. Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Do you like to be by yourself, solo? Are you happiest? Clearest when you're by yourself? Or do you feel like your true self when you're with a group of people and you're putting your energy and your efforts all together and you feel like yourself, your happiest self, then. A lot of people, you can look at your careers, your jobs. Do you need to be an outgoing person for your career or are you more of a introvert, more of a solo worker, where you do a lot of things on your own, so you can do it at your own pace and your own flow. You don't have to have someone there with you holding your hand to do everything. You just like going at your own flow. So that is introvert. If you're an extrovert, you like to be around people, there's a good chance you're a direct personality or a fun loving personality. 'cause these are the ones who like to be around people. The direct personality. They love people, but they like to be the leader of these people or in like-minded people as a group working towards a goal. The fun-Loving again, loves to be around groups of people. They feel like they're the most happy, the most fulfilled when they're around a group. Now, if you're that introvert that likes things where you can focus on your own choices and path where you feel more at peace, whenever you are solo, then you are either a rule maker or a steady. The rule maker, they like the solo because. They are introverted because they don't wanna put themselves out there too far because it's outside of their comfort zone. They are more cautious. So a rule maker can be in a group, but they're usually the quieter ones. They might be the ones in the background. Realizing all the things that are not in alignment with rules and restrictions. The steady, they just are at peace, that they're going at their own pace, nice and calm, easygoing, and not having any expectations from anyone else on what needs to be done. So look at your career. What, or if you've outright hate your career because it makes you stretch yourself outside of your comfort zone, that'll tell you one way or the other. As a hairstylist. You can see how you deal with your clients. If you like to be the life, the party in the salon surrounded by everyone, and you guys work as a group, then you're gonna understand yourself a little bit more. If you're that stylist that just likes to have quiet conversations, one-on-one with your client or one-on-one with the stylist in the salon, that will be a big clue. The second one to consider is how are you with details? Are you a detail person? Or go by the seat of your pants kind of a person, and just let things fall where they go. If you like details, you want to have a mission and understand the in and outs of everything. You are either a direct personality or a rule maker personality. So if you like details and you're a people person, you are the direct person, you are the direct personality. If you like details, but you're an introvert. You are a rule maker because you like all the details, but you don't want to have any expectations from anyone else. You wanna do it at your own pace. 'cause whatever you do feels right for yourself. Now if you are that fly by the seat of your pants kind of person, details go over your head, they're not really that important. Then you are on the right side of the chart and you are the fun loving personality because details are wasted. It's not important. You're just here to have fun and go with the flow. Whatever feels right to yourself or you're that steady personality. The steady does not care about details. They don't want to have a checklist of anything they have to do. They wanna just go with the flow. The least amount of pressure the better for a steady because they are that peaceful person who just wants to slide right on through life. Nothing too strenuous, nothing too boring, and just right in the middle where they wanna be. You can see where the people, person, the, and the details and the no details kind of line you up. It gives you a little bit more definite direction of where you think you are. So if you need more, let's keep going. Are you purpose-driven? If you are a purpose-driven individual, most likely you are that direct or you are that rule maker. Because you like to have a reason, a goal, a list of things you need to accomplish to make yourself your own self, feel like your life is on purpose, that you have a reason to get up and get moving in the morning. You have a list. If you are the rule maker, you have goals. If you have that direct personality. Now, if you're not. Purpose driven you are again, you go with a flow kind of a person. You don't need a full on direction to feel purposeful. Your job is to just live your life the best that feels fit for that day, and you roll with it and you are that fun loving personality or that steady personality. Here's a big one for you. Are you an emotional personality or an unemotional? If you are emotional, you care. You lead with your heart. You are there for everyone else on those moments where it makes a huge difference to yourself. You are really being led by your heart. You are that fun-loving personality or the steady personality. You are all emotion. Because the fun loving, if you're having a bad day, your energy is going to be a little bit slower, a little bit grumpier, and you're gonna struggle a little bit more to, to find the joy of the day. But you can be easily turned around by the next joyful moment that comes into your life. And the steady is the same. You want easygoing, go with the flow, but you are super emotional. It affects you if someone comes and yells at you. You don't wanna be around people that argue and complain. You wanna be around the calm, easygoing, wonderful people. That doesn't cause you any grief. If you are around sad people. It affects your energy personally. So emotions are your triggers for yourself. So if you're emotional. You are more likely to be more of a fun-loving or a steady personality. Now, these non-emotional personalities, the direct or the rule maker, doesn't mean you are a cold, heartless person. It just means that you are not led by your emotions. You are purposeful. You have your own strong will that is pushing you. You are not affected as much by someone else's emotion. If an emotional, fun-loving person comes to a direct personality, that direct personality will feel. Unsettled because they're wasting time fussing about some stupid emotion instead of just getting on with a show and getting your job done. So you can see why direct personalities as a leader might have issues with an emotional, fun loving, or a steady personality. You have to look outside of yourself to understand that just because you don't make decisions with your heart as much. It's more of your mind that you have to relax a little bit more on your expectation of those emotional personalities. So if you are not emotional, you have emotions, but it's not something that controls you, you do not make decisions because of your emotions of a good day or a bad day, you just let it slide. Emotions are not something that concerns you. Your purpose is on track. So if you have a bad day, you break something, you're in a car accident, you're not gonna sit there crying, upset all day. You're gonna shake it off and get moving. So you can get to your meeting at work. You're going to go work on your to-do list that needs to get done because you just shake it off and get moving. You are not controlled by your emotions, and that is the direct or the rule maker. Is this making a little bit more sense, figuring out who you are and how you are directed personally towards different things. Can you tell if you're more of the, more of the driven personalities, more of the lists and to-dos, or are you more of the easygoing, flowing, emotional people? This usually right here is the point where you're like, oh, so they're not cold hearted, they're just not driven by your emotions. That makes more sense and why. The fun loving in the steady might have more ups and downs in their day because it just depends on their emotional flow for that day. If everything's going in their direction that they want it to go, or if they're having hurdles and some problems, they have to figure out. Are you optimistic if you're an optimistic personality or a pessimist? This is a big one. The direct and the fun-loving are more optimistic. Naturally, they will see the bright side of any subject just because it's how they are. Driven. That is how they are made. You automatically think the glass is half full, so let's get moving. The possibilities are still there. We can fix this situation, no biggie. Or are you a pessimist? A rule maker and a steady are more inclined to see the problems of the situation. The rule maker and the steady automatically sees the glass half empty or. Empty. I made a joke with one of my clients one time because she's a little bit more on the pessimistic mindset, and I said, it's not only that you see a glass half empty, you're waiting for someone to come knock over your glass and spill the water all over your computer and your computer fries. So it's not just that they see the pessimistic mindset, they're waiting for the world to crash and burn because that's just what they expect. Especially the rule maker, they will see things in the most dire situations because if they expect the worst, they know how to plan for that, but they are not inclined naturally to think of the bright side of how wonderful it can go, because. Why do you have to plan for that? They're totally thrown. If everything goes rainbows and sunshine and everything is great for them, they're taken aback 'cause they're prepping for the worst case scenario. The steady, they also think pessimistically because that's just how their energy is. But the steady is also an emotional person who is pessimistic. So think of Eeyore. In Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh is that steady mindset. It's easygoing, slow moving, but very emotional and expects the worst thing to happen. It's just how they are. So if you think that you are an emotional and you are pessimistic, good chance, you're a steady personality. And then you just have to figure out your strengths and your weaknesses and go from there. Here's another humdinger. Are you outspoken or are you soft spoken? Very easygoing. You don't wanna ruffle any feathers. You don't want to announce that you're here that is soft spoken. So if you are that outspoken personality, you are either a direct or a fun loving. A direct, you are that outspoken person because you're that natural born leader who thinks that if you don't step forward and take action, no one else will. Or they might not do it the exact way that you think it needs to happen, but you can work with other people who step forward. Also, you respect people who are outspoken and have a plan to get started. You just, that action step is all for you. The outgoing also is the fun loving personality. They want to go and have fun. They want to go find their people and lead them to the party to have fun to you are naturally outspoken in every aspect of your life. You like to share every thought in your head, every action that you achieved or that you're in the middle of doing, or your ideas you love to talk about, your ideas of what you wanna do for the day, or how it could make it even better. Now the soft spoken, the rule maker, they are usually so in their head trying to figure out all the steps and the list of things that they need to get accomplished or how to solve the problem. They're in their mind, so they are more soft spoken. They reserve their information until they feel prepared to talk it out. The steady is also soft spoken. They will stay quiet because it's more comfortable. They will speak up if they have to or if they have to play the peacekeeper, but their first inclination is not to speak up and make people aware of them unless they have to or if someone asks them to actually do something. So who are you? So what do you think is your strength, your biggest strength? Are you purpose driven, non-emotional, optimistic, and outspoken? You are a direct, if you are an extrovert, you need people and you don't really care about details. You wanna just go with the flow. You are more artistic, you're emotional, and you are a fun-loving personality. That rule maker, you are that introvert. You need quiet so you can think things, through. You love details. You are that purpose driven person. Who wants to understand things. You're constantly looking for things to understand, to relate to, to get that grasp on things. But you are unemotional. You're not driven by your heart. You are very brain focused. You are focused on thinking things through being logical so that you're not missing anything, but you are soft spoken. You are that rule maker. The steady you are an introvert, you really need quiet. That is how you feel, calm and peaceful, and you don't have any expectations because you are that emotional person that needs to step away from all those, those non-emotional people that have expectations and problems for you, but you are a natural pessimist. And you need to understand that you're just naturally drawn that way, but you need to find that fun. I hope this actually helps you understand a few things about yourself and who you are. What really? Makes you the person that you are. Now, remember, you're a mix of these personalities, so you can feel attracted to different ones. You could be a fun loving person, but steady. You wanna be around people, but you need your peace and quiet. Also, you can be. You can be a direct personality and that rule maker you will be unstoppable because you can be organized and direct and goal driven and orderly. Just figure this stuff out and understand. So just ask yourself, do you like being around people or are you better off not around people. Do you need that quiet or do you feel whole and happy whenever you're around a group of people? How do you spend your weekends? Do you need that quiet time at home to recover from a busy, time at work? Or do you need those weekends to go out and surround yourself with people and be the life of the party? Are you strong-willed? Are you more artistic? Go with the flow kind of a personality and the basic one, are you optimistic naturally, or pessimistic? If you actually pay attention to your thoughts along the way, you can figure out which one you really are. Are you more bubbly and happy or are you planning for apocalypse? Some people just never think this stuff through. I will say I never thought this stuff through before I realized and dug deep into these personalities and understood why it's important to know this. If this is your client sitting in your chair and you know that they are a, either a rule maker or a steady, you have to. Consciously frame your words into a positive mindset, not to their natural inclination of the pessimistic, the worst case scenario. 'cause they will ask you questions probably about worst case scenarios. But this is about ourselves. This is about digging deep into who we are, to understand how you run. Because if you've never looked deep into yourself, you might compare yourself to your sibling, your best friend, to your coworkers, and look at yourself and be like, why don't I feel like that? Why can't I motivate myself the same way they do? But if you understand and break it down one by one, go over these questions and write 'em down. And if it's the ones that gave you the personality, write 'em down. Figure out which one you are and see what direction really feels like you. And if you write down each personality that you related to, that's probably your mixtures of personalities because it will help you understand why there's parts of yourself that might. Be selective. Depending on the moment you might thrive in the salon or in a group setting of a job, you might thrive there. But you might have the times on the weekends where you need that solitude or those evenings where you need that quiet time to reset yourself. You need that little bit of time to make yourself ready for the next day. It's totally okay. Take the time to figure out who you are. 'cause once you figure out yourself, you'll understand why you react to people a certain way. Why you can change your thinking a little bit so that you can be a little bit more understanding to others that are your opposite. Just like the emotional and the non-emotional, the emotional, think that the non-emotional are cold hearted people who don't understand, who just think about getting things done and the non-emotional. Can't relate to the emotional 'cause. They want them just to stop crying or screaming and being upset and just go get the job done. It's a two-way street. If you can't understand how to relate to someone else, it makes life a little bit more challenging. So take the time. Write out a few things. Try to understand who you are, why you think certain way, why you feel happy in certain situations, and you just struggle in others. It will make a difference on how you relate to other people and how you can take it a little bit easier on yourself. It doesn't mean you're stuck in those portals, in those spots. You don't have to stay stuck in that direct box. You can learn how to strengthen yourself, to become a better listener, to understand how to be there for an emotional colleague friend, or client. As a rule maker, you can understand how to put yourself out of your own box that you put yourself in, and stretch yourself to go out there and talk more, to be a little bit more easygoing about other people's faults and not following the rules as much, even though it might drive you crazy and the steady personality, it's okay to be yourself, but you don't have to. Just be in your box or at your desk. It is okay to go talk to someone, step outside your comfort zone and make a friend go find something in common with someone. Life is a lot more fun when you get outside of the box, you seclude yourself in to become a little bit more. Life is about learning, so have fun.
