Bring Your Service Based Business Online

Hey mama, welcome back to Moms Who Mean Business! If you’ve ever wished you could make more money without working more hours, this episode is going to be a game-changer.

Because let’s be real—if you’re in a service-based business like coaching, photography, hairstyling, yoga, or personal training… your income is probably tied to how many hours you work, how many clients you book, or how many services you provide.

And at first? That might have seemed perfect! You set your own prices, control your schedule, and run your own business… but then reality hits.

What happens when:

  • You want to take time off? That’s lost income.
  • You get sick, or your kid is home from school? No money coming in.
  • You want to grow, but the only way is working more hours? Burnout is knocking at the door.

That’s where so many service-based entrepreneurs get stuck—trading time for money with no way to scale without working MORE.

But what if I told you there’s another way?

I know exactly what that feels like because I’ve been there. When I first started, I was fully booked, juggling clients, and maxed out—but also struggling to be the mom I wanted to be.

I had this amazing business that I had built from the ground up, but the more I grew, the less freedom I had. And let’s be honest, I didn’t start my business to feel trapped by it, as I’m sure you didn’t either.

So I had to shift. I had to figure out how to keep serving my clients, keep growing my income, but in a way that didn’t require hours of my time to do it.

And that’s exactly what I want to share with you today.

If you are a service based provider, I’m talking to my health and wellness professionals, yoga instructors, coaches + therapists, photographers, hairstylists, personal trainers, bartenders — any type of service-based business owner… and you’re feeling stuck in a cycle of work more to earn more—then this episode is definitely for you.

Whether you want to increase your income, bring in a passive revenue stream, or simply free up your time so you’re not always hustling—I’m going to show you how to take what you already do and bring it into the online space in a way that works for you.

And no—you don’t need to start over. You don’t have to be a tech genius. You don’t have to create something from scratch.

You just need a simple strategy to leverage what you already know and turn it into an offer that runs in the background of your life — serving more people, making more money, and getting your time back

Step 1: Recognizing the Limitations of a Fully Service-Based Business

Now, if you’re in a service-based business, chances are you started out loving what you do. You had this skill, this passion, this expertise—and people were willing to pay you for it.

That first client? SO exciting.

That first big sale? Total adrenaline rush.

But then… things started to shift. The reality of trading time for money set in.

And if you’ve ever thought to yourself,

  • “If I stop working, my income stops.”
  • “I can’t afford to take time off.”
  • “The only way to make more is to work more.”

Then you already KNOW exactly what I’m talking about.

Because the old way of running a service-based business keeps you stuck in a cycle that doesn’t scale and doesn’t give you freedom—which, let’s be honest, is probably one of the reasons you started your business in the first place!

So let’s break it down.

When your entire income is based on how many hours you work or how many clients you serve, you run into some pretty major roadblocks.

1. Your income is capped.

  • You only have so many hours in the day. and There’s a physical limit to how many clients you can take on.
  • Once you hit that limit? You’re maxed out—unless you start charging crazy high prices (which isn’t always realistic).

2. Time off = lost income.

  • Need a break? Want to take a vacation? Feel like having a mental health day? - That’s money you’re not making.
  • And if you’re a mom, let’s be honest—you KNOW that things come up. Sick kids, school closures, unexpected family needs.

If your business can’t run without you actively working, you’re constantly in this pressure cooker of “What happens if I need time off?”

3. You’re exhausted.

  • Chasing new clients.
  • Delivering services.
  • Keeping up with the admin work.
  • Maybe even marketing yourself on social media just to keep the business flowing.

It’s A LOT. And if you’re feeling like you’re on the edge of burnout—it’s because this model isn’t built for long-term sustainability.

Now, if you’re listening to this and thinking, “Yep, this is me…”—I hear you.

Maybe right now you’re:

  • Booked out, but still not making what you want to make.
  • Too busy to grow, but also scared to slow down.
  • Exhausted from constantly chasing clients and starting over each month.

And the worst part?

Even though you LOVE what you do—you might be starting to resent it a little bit…

Because it’s not just about the money anymore—it’s about your quality of life.

You didn’t start your business to feel trapped in your own schedule.

You didn’t want to create a situation where you always have to be working to keep the money coming in.

You started this business because you wanted:

  •  More freedom.
  •  More flexibility.
  •  More time to be with your family.

But instead? You’re feeling overworked, overwhelmed, and wondering, “How do I get out of this cycle?”

There IS another way.

A way to take your existing skills, knowledge, and expertise and turn them into scalable, online income streams that don’t require you to trade every single hour for a paycheck.

So, if you’re ready to shift from working harder to working smarter, let’s dive into how you can start making this transition—without starting over and without adding more stress to your plate.

Step 2: The Shift to Scalable, Online Income

Now, This is where we shift from overworked and maxed out to scalable and sustainable.

It’s time to leverage the power of the online space —and no, I don’t mean becoming a full-time influencer or doing something totally different from what you love.

We’re not replacing your service-based business (unless you want to!) —we’re expanding it.

Here’s why it’s so smart to take your service-based business into the online space…

Three BIG reasons:

1. More income streams = more money.

  • Instead of only making money when you’re physically working, you can have offers that sell on autopilot.
  • This means passive revenue—aka, making money while you sleep, while you’re with your family, or while you’re taking a much-needed break.

2. Flexibility & Freedom.

  • Imagine waking up to new sales notifications—without having to book another client or schedule another appointment.
  • Your time is no longer tied to how much money you can make.
  • You can work on your own terms—not just when your clients need you.

3. You can serve MORE people without working more hours.

  • Right now, your business is limited by how many clients you can personally serve.
  • But when you shift to online income?
    • One digital product can be sold to hundreds of people at once.
    • One group coaching program can replace dozens of 1:1 calls.
    • One online course can teach people without you being there live every time.

And let me be clear—this does NOT mean you have to stop doing 1:1 services if you love them… and depending on what type of service based business you have it can mean being able to charge a premium rate for your physical time and in person energy.

but, This is about giving yourself options.

More income streams = more stability and freedom.

I mean, wouldn’t it be nice to know that even if you don’t book a client this week… your business is still making money?

I know it can feel overwhelming to think about “going online”—but let me show you what’s possible.

Let’s take some real-world examples from service-based business owners just like you:

A Hairstylist → She was constantly booked out and working long hours. Instead of adding more clients, she created an online masterclass teaching people how to style their hair at home. Now, she sells that class every single day—without being in the salon.

A Personal Trainer - He wanted to reach more people without adding more 1:1 sessions. So he created a monthly membership where clients get pre-recorded workouts, meal plans, and coaching through a private community. Now, he makes recurring income every month without working extra hours.

A Wedding Photographer - She realized she could only shoot so many weddings per year. So she created a DIY Wedding Photography Guide for brides who wanted high-quality photos but couldn’t afford a photographer. She also created a course which helps newbie photographers start their own photography business. Now, she makes money from it year-round—even in the off-season.

A Life Coach - She loved 1:1 coaching but felt exhausted from back-to-back calls. So she created a group coaching program where she could coach multiple people at once. Same advice, more people helped, more money made, and less burnout.

Are you seeing the pattern here?

Each of these entrepreneurs took their existing skills and turned them into something scalable.

They didn’t start over.

They didn’t change careers.

They leveraged what they already knew and turned it into an offer that works for them—even when they’re not working.

And you can do the same.

Making this transition requires a shift in your mindset, because I know some of you might be thinking…

  • “But I love working with clients 1:1! I don’t want to stop doing that.”
  • “I’ve built my whole business around personal services—can I really do this?”
  • “I don’t know if I have anything to sell online…”

Let me clear something up:

  • This is NOT about replacing your business.
  • You’re not stopping what you love—you’re expanding it.
  • You already have everything you need to create online income.

Think of it like this:

  • A hairstylist still takes clients—but now she SCALES her business by selling digital products.
  • A yoga instructor still teaches—but now she ALSO has an online course running in the background of life.
  • A business coach still works 1:1—but now she ALSO has group coaching where she is multiplying her efforts.

See the difference? You’re adding MORE ways to serve your audience, not taking anything away — or constantly putting in a ton of additional effort.

And here’s the thing—your audience WANTS this.

Not everyone can afford your premium 1:1 service

Not everyone can book a call with you right now

Not everyone lives near you to get your expertise in person

But when you create digital offers, courses, or memberships

You give them a way to learn from you, work with you, and buy from you—without being limited by time or location.

And THAT is powerful.

Step 3: How to Bring Your Service Online — cause a girl needs options right?!

 Digital Products

  • Courses, guides, templates, or DIY resources.
  • Example: A hairstylist selling an online “DIY Salon Styling” course.
  • Example: A yoga instructor offering a 30-day “At-Home Yoga Flow” video series.

 Group Coaching or Memberships

  • Serve multiple clients at once instead of 1:1.
  • Example: A wellness coach launching a membership community for ongoing support.
  • Example: A fitness trainer running a monthly online challenge.

 Selling Pre-Recorded or Evergreen Services

  • Turn live services into recorded products.
  • Example: A photographer selling an online posing & editing guide.
  • Example: A business coach offering an evergreen workshop series.

 Leveraging Automation to Scale

  • You wake up, check your phone, and see multiple payment notifications from your online offer.
  • Someone grabs your freebie, gets a series of emails from you, and buys your product—without you lifting a finger.
  • People comment on your Instagram post with a keyword, and instantly get the link to your freebie or offer—without you manually responding to every DM.

This isn’t some fantasy scenario.

This is what happens when you set up simple automations in your business.

And the best part? Once you set them up, they work for you—on autopilot.

Because here’s the thing…

  •  You do NOT have time to be answering every DM manually.
  •  You do NOT have time to send emails one-by-one.
  •  You do NOT have time to constantly chase leads and remind people to buy.

And mama, you don’t have to.

When you have automated systems in place, your business keeps working even when you’re:

  •  Playing with your kids.
  •  Out to dinner with your partner.
  •  Taking a break because you freaking deserve it.

So let’s talk about three game-changing automations that will free up HOURS of your time while still bringing in leads and sales.

Automation #1: The Lead Magnet Funnel

Let’s start with the foundation of every scalable business—your Lead Magnet Funnel.

This is a simple, 3-step system that brings in leads and turns them into customers without you constantly selling.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1: A Lead Magnet

  • This is a freebie, like a guide, checklist, mini-course, or webinar that solves a small problem for your audience.
  • Example: A fitness coach offers a “7-Day Workout Plan for Busy Moms.”
  • Example: A hairstylist offers a “Quick & Easy At-Home Styling Guide.”

Step 2: Automated Email Nurture Sequence

  • Once someone grabs your freebie, they don’t just sit in your email list collecting dust.
  • They get a pre-written series of emails that:
    •  Introduce you and build trust.
    •  Give them quick wins & valuable content.
    •  Guide them naturally into your paid offer.

Step 3: The Offer

  • By the end of the email sequence, you present your paid offer—whether it’s a course, membership, or service.
  • This way, new leads are consistently moving through your funnel, getting value, and becoming buyers without you doing manual work.

Imagine this: Every day, new leads are coming in, getting nurtured, and some are even buying—all while you’re doing literally anything else.

That’s the power of automation.

Automation #2: DM Auto-Responses That Sell for You

Okay, now let’s talk about social media DMs—because I know this is a BIG one for so many of you.

Tell me if this sounds familiar…

  • Someone DMs you asking about your program.
  • You stop what you’re doing, type out a whole response, send them the link, and hope they buy.
  • You repeat this process over and over again.

Now, what if I told you that you never have to manually respond to those messages again?

Here’s the trick: Set up an automated DM keyword response.

Here’s how it works:

  •  On Instagram, someone comments a specific keyword—let’s say “WORKOUT.”
  •  They get an instant automated DM with the link to your freebie, offer, or signup page.
  •  You’re not manually responding, yet your business is still growing.

Example: A fitness coach posts on IG and says, “DM ‘WORKOUT’ to get my free 7-day fitness plan.”

Example: A hairstylist posts, “DM ‘HAIR’ for my free styling tutorial.”

This way, your audience is getting instant access to your offers—and you’re not spending HOURS responding to messages manually.

And the best part? It makes it SO easy for people to take action.

They don’t have to dig through your website.

They don’t have to ask where the link is.

They don’t have to wait for you to respond.

They just type a keyword and BOOM—it’s in their inbox.

This is one of the easiest, most effective automations you can set up—and it makes selling feel effortless.

Automation #3: Evergreen Sales Funnels That Sell While You Sleep

Now, let’s take it one step further.

Because the real magic of automation? Waking up to sales you didn’t have to manually make.

And that’s where evergreen funnels come in.

  •  An evergreen funnel is a system that sells your product, course, or offer automatically.
  •  Once it’s set up, it runs in the background, bringing in new customers every single day.
  •  It’s like having a full-time salesperson working for you 24/7—except you only set it up once.

Example:

  •  A life coach has a “Self-Confidence Mastery” course that sells year-round.
  •  A business coach has a “Launch Your First Offer” mini-course that’s always available.
  •  A wellness coach has a “Meal Prep Made Easy” training that people can buy anytime.

When you set up an evergreen funnel, you’re creating a steady stream of income—without constantly launching, selling, or being in hustle mode.

This is how you create a business that works for you, instead of you working for it.

Step 4: Choosing the Right Model for You

So this is the fun part, you get to ask yourself…

What do I actually ENJOY doing?

Because if you try to build an online income stream that doesn’t align with the pieces you love in your business—you’re going to resent it, avoid it, and ultimately not stick with it.

There are parts of everyones business that we aren’t totally in love with… but here you get to choose! Let’s look at a few different online models and see which one makes the most sense for YOU.

1. If you love TEACHING…

  • You would thrive with a course, workshop, or digital training.
  • This could be a self-paced online course or even a live masterclass where you walk people through a specific topic.
  • Example: A hairstylist could create a “Master the At-Home Blowout” course.

2. If you love COACHING & CONNECTION…

  • A group coaching program or membership might be the best fit.
  • This allows you to still have that high-touch interaction—but in a scalable way.
  • Example: A health coach could create a “90-Day Wellness Reset” group coaching program.

3. If you love CREATING…

  • You might love selling digital products, templates, or guides.
  • These are great because once they’re created, they can sell on autopilot.
  • Example: A photographer could sell “Instagram Branding Presets” for business owners.

The key here? Choose a model that matches your strengths, your passions, and the way you naturally love to serve people.

And if you’re not sure what exactly to offer or bring into the online space, ask yourself this:

What are people ALREADY asking me for?

Because I promise you—your audience is telling you exactly what they need.

Take a minute and think about:

  • What DMs or emails do you get all the time?
  • What questions do your clients ask over and over again?
  • What problems do people come to you for help with?

THOSE are your online offer ideas.

Example: A makeup artist who constantly gets asked for foundation recommendations?

She could create a “Flawless Skin Guide” with step-by-step tutorials.

Example: A yoga instructor who keeps getting asked for at-home workout routines?

She could create a “10-Minute Daily Yoga Flow” video series.

Example: A photographer who always gets asked about posing for brand shoots?

She could sell a “Personal Brand Photoshoot Guide.”

See how easy this is? You don’t have to reinvent the wheel.

Just take what you’re ALREADY an expert in—and package it into an online offer that helps people.

Start Small & Simple—You Don’t Have to Build Everything at Once

Now, I know how this can feel.

When you start thinking about all the possibilities, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and feel like you have to build everything overnight.

So let me give you permission right now:

You do NOT need to build everything at once!

You don’t need:

  • A giant course with 50 lessons.
  • A huge membership site with a million moving parts.
  • A complicated funnel that takes months to set up.

Instead? Start SMALL.

Create ONE simple digital product. (Example: A $27 guide or mini-course.)

Launch ONE workshop or masterclass. (Go live, teach something, and sell the replay!)

Offer ONE small group coaching round. (Beta test your idea before you scale it.)

Once you start simple, you can always grow from there.

But if you try to do EVERYTHING at once? You’ll probably get stuck in overwhelm and never launch.

[Recap & Next Steps]

Alright, let’s do a quick recap:

  • You don’t have to choose a one-size-fits-all model. Pick what aligns with YOU.
  • Your audience is already telling you what they want. Turn FAQs into digital offers.
  • Start small. You don’t have to build a massive course overnight—just take the first step.

And here’s what I want you to do next:

  • Step 1: Take 5 minutes and write down 3 things people always ask you about.
  • Step 2: Pick ONE of those ideas and think about how you could turn it into a digital offer.
  • Step 3: Send me a DM on Instagram (@laceysbestlife) and tell me what you came up with—I would absolutely love to hear your idea!

And if you’re ready to build your first (or next) scalable online offer and you want a clear roadmap to get it done—Mama Business Academy is where you get me in your back pocked and I help you through the entire process.

You can grab the link in the show notes or just DM me the word JOIN on IG @laceysbestlife, and I’ll send you all the details!

You do NOT have to stay stuck in the time-for-money cycle.

Your business can work FOR you, not just because of you.

You got this! I’ll see you in the next episode. Cheers!
