Ep. 35: The Book of the Apocalypse

The Book of Revelation: It's the most mysterious, compelling, and often debated book in the Bible. From seven-headed beasts to the New Jerusalem, its vivid, symbolic imagery has captivated and confounded readers for centuries. But how are we supposed to interpret all those signs and visions?

In this episode, we pull back the curtain on the four major schools of interpretation that have shaped Christian understanding of Revelation throughout history. We'll break down the key differences between the:

  • Preterist View: Did most of the prophecies already happen in the first century?
  • Historicist View: Is Revelation a timeline mapping out the entire history of the church?
  • Futurist View: Is the book a blueprint for events that are yet to come—the Great Tribulation, the literal Antichrist, and a future millennium?
  • Idealist View: Is it primarily a symbolic, non-chronological depiction of the timeless spiritual battle between good and evil?
