Violet and Ahri leave the shop to find patrols uniquely equipped to deal with haunties and with wasting only a little time they quickly make an escape. Returning to their fishing outpost they struggle to make friends. They decide from there that as undead the best course of action is to desecrate a graveyard. They were not prepared for the consequences.

Turn to sand. Trees become the soil. Stars become dust. Stories turned to whispered rebellions. Whispers fade entirely. But no silence lasts forever. Every now and then something takes a bite back out of the universe. An idea, a melody, incessant laughter. Hope should stay dead, but surrendered should always be false. And that's what we're feeding you tonight. Welcome to the Oddbox Podcast. What is something you think humanity has forgotten that we've just learned to live without?
SPEAKER_04Horses?
SPEAKER_03I was gonna say decency or something, but I don't horses is way better.
SPEAKER_04I honestly, I mean What the fuck is a horse? I rarely think about horses in my day-to-day life.
SPEAKER_05So you are society?
SPEAKER_04They're all over. They used to be all over the fucking place. You represent society? I think that I represent a um what is it? Like an average. Again, it's really funny.
SPEAKER_06I'm average male. You know what's really funny about Jeff's answer is where he lives, there's just horses everywhere. Actually, yeah, like a block away, there's um uh it's filthy with horses.
SPEAKER_03I don't even know why we're still recording. That should have been the end of the episode when Tony said, What's a horse?
SPEAKER_04But yeah, like but again, what what is it? Like England used to have a huge problem because the whole the streets would just get filled with horse shit because there were just horses everywhere, right? And now again, we've forgotten how to deal with horse shit.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like I don't know how to ride a horse. Okay, I'm gonna dip into history on this one. Apparently, Atlantis had some pretty phenomenal technologies, you know, they could m make death lasers and stuff. So death lasers, apparently. The history of fables that people have written down somewhere, Atlantean history. Uh the fictional metal that we play with in our game. How do you pronounce it? It uh every time I say it, Courtney makes fun of me. Oracle cum.
SPEAKER_02Oracalcom?
SPEAKER_03Oracalcom? Oracle cum. Um, yeah, they all get it. Talking about orc cum. You can always see it coming every time. As soon as I go to say it, I'm like, Courtney's gonna roast me for this one.
SPEAKER_05Um I mean, it is because of how you say it. Yeah, I don't know how else to say it.
SPEAKER_03That's what it looks like. Despite the fact that Courtney cranks you every time. There's no way I can ever get it right. Wait, how do you say it? Oracalcum. Oracalcom. That sounds like bullshit. Um and the identity of the sea people that caused the collapse of the Bronze Age. That also is something that we've lost to history that we we've learned to live without. I guess.
SPEAKER_04Never mind.
SPEAKER_02You don't like his answer?
SPEAKER_04Nobody else is correcting him. You should though.
SPEAKER_03That'll be the best part. Why would I? I'm gonna just let it slide this time. Why would I? Yeah. Because we can still we can make better death bla lasers than better death blazers? Yeah, you know, coats that you wear together. What are we talking about? Death blazers. I am so lost right now. We've changed the subject since the last one. Are we talking about the identity of the sea people?
SPEAKER_06No, Kyle's missing out on Atlanteans. He misses Atlantis. He wishes it was here. It's it was here allegedly, and now it's not. Sure. And he doesn't know how to carry on.
SPEAKER_05Were you gonna join us on Foundry?
SPEAKER_06Never.
SPEAKER_04Does anybody else have an answer? Are we just going with horses? What do you mean horses?
SPEAKER_06I say the checklist, it doesn't mean anybody has to pay attention.
SPEAKER_04Horses wins over Atlantis. Oh, it doesn't.
SPEAKER_02Why are we competing about your terrible answer?
SPEAKER_04We compete about everything.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05Well, does it do you have an answer?
SPEAKER_02Uh right. I think society has forgotten how important nature is to our survival.
SPEAKER_03100%. That's a good answer. Yeah, Courtney's right. She beat both of us.
SPEAKER_02Horses are a part of nature, so I guess people have forgotten about horses. Horses are not a part of nature. I do think about horses a lot, though. I'm actually watching a documentary on Netflix right now that's about horse racing.
SPEAKER_05That's an interesting uh take. Like, are horses more part of nature or civilization at this point?
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Well, nature now and civilization then. Yeah. Because I mean they were the they were the backbone of industry. Well, right. Industry.
SPEAKER_05I definitely wouldn't call Kip wild, right? Like I wouldn't say he's a part of nature.
SPEAKER_01He thinks he's wild. Sure, that's great.
SPEAKER_05That's good for him.
SPEAKER_06He's a party animal.
SPEAKER_05Um I'd like to think I'm masculine.
SPEAKER_02You are.
SPEAKER_06Thanks. Yeah, you are. That's very close to my answer.
SPEAKER_02He's a good friend.
SPEAKER_06We the the thing that I think we're missing is uh we used to have like agrarian uh villages and people just like grew what they needed to eat and then they took care of the people in their village, and uh and I think that was I think that was uh an important part of of uh human society and we could still have it, but we choose not to. And um, you know, not a perfect system by any means, but uh I always think all the time about the story of the guy who brought um fertilizer over to China and he went to this village and he showed up and he was like, uh, you know, throw this on your plants like this. And he came back three years later and they're growing half the crops, and and he showed up and he was a town celebrity. Everybody was like, Oh my god, thank you so much. This is so awesome. He's like, What are you doing? Why aren't you growing twice as much and selling the and they're like, Why do why would we want to?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I don't want to I don't want to work in the field, I want to hang out with my kids. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Now we have all this extra space, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_06Time and energy, and you know, so I think I think we went the wrong way.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's just a town there now.
SPEAKER_06We've lost out on on true community.
SPEAKER_05It's funny because you made me think of like how schizophrenia will present differently in different cultures. Um, because like you know, if you just like show up and take care of people, the symptoms are extremely more mild than you know, if you were to just like abandon something. Institutionalized.
SPEAKER_06The vast majority of the world, they're pleasant and nice, and you get into America and we've got bad schizophrenics. Well, they're not we got the bad ones here, they're not morally bad, they're the bad people, but the the subtext will be good.
SPEAKER_02The system has been bad to them.
SPEAKER_04Yes, yeah, it's not their fault. We don't take care of them, we just let them run rampant and do whatever the fuck they want.
SPEAKER_02So just ignore them as long as they're not bothering us. Where's the money in it?
SPEAKER_06Right. Everybody else in the world gets kind, loving voices telling them to be nice to each other and themselves.
SPEAKER_03I found that out taking a psychology class from a guy who uh grew up in Tibet.
SPEAKER_05I think you're actually the first one who told me about that. Yeah, and then I started doing more research into it because I'm like, that doesn't sound right. The DSM speaks for the world. Yeah, and uh yeah, that was a really, really interesting research. You know what it's funny?
SPEAKER_03He's hysterical.
SPEAKER_05Like, tell your story.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_05Um so tell me originally what you're gonna say, isn't it funny? And then go back and tell your story.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I can do that too. Isn't it funny that like you're a pretty self-aware guy and you still trust step in step in that trap, you know? Like um, so with the we were talking about medication, and he was like, Well, we don't use a lot of medication where I'm from in practice, it's pretty rare. And the guy's like, Well, what about people who have schizophrenia or whatever? He's like, Why they people just bring them food and invite them to the barbecues and they're fine.
SPEAKER_00Like them for a while.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like, well, how do you deal with like the paranoia and the violence and stuff? He's like, I never had a violent schizophrenic. I don't know. It's like we just give we just meet their other needs and it kind of goes away. Yeah, you don't have to worry. I mean, they're still crazy, but you know.
SPEAKER_04Right. So I just want to tally up our answers real quick because as we discussed, this is a competition. Uh-huh. The question of what has humanity lost, or something, or rather. Does I remember the answer were horses? Yep. See people. No, nature. We're getting there, schizophrenia, no, and fish people. Not even a lot of things.
SPEAKER_05You missed it. I brought up I brought up mental health. It was life that brought up uh like nature and being there for people, just like in general. Schizophrenia, but still I didn't think I answered. I was just fish people.
SPEAKER_03No, not fish people, sea people, people from the sea. They aren't fish, they're regular human.
SPEAKER_02All things in the sea are f is a fish. No, they're regular humans.
SPEAKER_03Even the islands. Say that to a fish person's face.
SPEAKER_02Coral fish.
SPEAKER_03Salt fish. Salt fish, water fish. Seaweed? Fish. Slow fish.
SPEAKER_01Slow fish.
SPEAKER_06Slow skinny fish.
SPEAKER_01Don't say that.
SPEAKER_06Those salt water dogs, they're just a few millennia away from being whales or something. Also fish. Also fish.
SPEAKER_05Sea creature. Not a fish.
SPEAKER_06Sea cucumber. Sea people isn't a thing. People are on the sea, Jeff. No. There's lots of people on the sea.
SPEAKER_05Jeff doesn't believe in semen.
SPEAKER_06There's lots of people who make their living on the sea. What was the name of that? There was that whole uh group of people.
SPEAKER_04Dangerous Catch?
SPEAKER_06No, no, no.
SPEAKER_01Deadliest catch.
SPEAKER_06They live in like uh Polynesia or Micronesia and they just they live on rafts and they literally spend their entire lives just floating and like harvesting seafood and Kevin Costner?
SPEAKER_02I wouldn't I wouldn't do well. Just living on the sea?
SPEAKER_04It's been a long time since I've watched Waterworld, and I really want to watch it again in my like adult life. You should just to see how well it holds up. Yeah, terrible.
SPEAKER_03It's not a good movie.
SPEAKER_04I see that's what I remember. This is what I remember, but so many, so much I've heard recently, like it's a cult classic, and like I I don't know.
SPEAKER_05Bad cult.
SPEAKER_04Probably. Yeah, I mean cults are bad cult. Cults are bad for bad touch.
SPEAKER_03I mean, you know, I mean maybe cults are getting a bad name. You know what I mean? Like we definitely hear about the bad ones, you know, but that's just US news. Same thing. DDSM has all the answers. Just because in the news, the cults are bad doesn't mean that they're is it the US Constitution or the World Constitution?
SPEAKER_05I think very much.
SPEAKER_03Tony and I have talked on several occasions about trying to find a way to buy 40 acres and just like, you know, populate it with friends and family and stuff. That's basically a cult, right?
SPEAKER_04No, that's a commune. And one of a friend I have is doing that in Hawaii if you want to join.
SPEAKER_05I do want to do the commune.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, let's join the cult.
SPEAKER_04It again, anyway. Doesn't I guess tomato?
SPEAKER_03If you want people to know that it's spicy, it's a cult. And if it's just like we're just gonna all live together and support each other, it's a commune.
SPEAKER_06Excuse me, I'll take some diet cult, please.
SPEAKER_05So I joined a brainwashing sex commune. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I'm very adamant about making that clear.
SPEAKER_03Everybody's consensual about it, Jeff. Get on board. Everyone's consensual about it. Very mild brainwashing and sex.
SPEAKER_00Very mild.
SPEAKER_03Very cult. What I remember. What does a diet cult look like? Which one do you give up? The brainwashing? It's still the drugs and the sex, or you just last as long as you can. I'm half convinced this is a mild diet cult.
SPEAKER_06Mild diet code.
SPEAKER_05Mild diet. Kind of diet.
SPEAKER_06I like my cult warm.
SPEAKER_04Sorry.
SPEAKER_05What is happening?
SPEAKER_04Didn't we come here for a reason?
SPEAKER_02We're meeting really late.
SPEAKER_04What are we here for?
SPEAKER_02We're usually almost done by now.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Aren't we here to play some kind of game? Whose cult are we in?
SPEAKER_06Whose cult is this? Just a diet cult. Don't worry about it.
SPEAKER_05Last time you guys made friends with a bird person, not to be confused with a fish person. Not to be confused with a sea person.
SPEAKER_06Not to be confused with a sky person.
SPEAKER_05Uh you decide against his help. He's like, I think I can help you. And you're like, nah. You think that the task is best left to you who have ghost powers.
SPEAKER_02The professionals.
SPEAKER_05You scout out the fortress, and in the center you Now it's over. You scout out the fortress in the center of Karahai and drop the guard captain's body over one of the gates before starting a fire in one of the storerooms.
SPEAKER_02One of our best moments.
SPEAKER_05You retreat to the west of town to watch the chaos unfold before returning hours later to go shopping utilizing Ari's disguise kit. And it was after talking to, I believe her name was Cramley.
SPEAKER_01Cramley. Six kids.
SPEAKER_05What were their names again? You uh You're not even there. You leave and you hear like commotion. Something is happening down the street. The party is split right now. Uh two of you are up on the bluff. It's like 700 feet away, down looking on this town, while the two of you are in the center of town doing your shopping. What is the hero point situation? I don't believe those were on the checklist today. Oh snap. Oh uh which again, though, we don't write down the checklist.
SPEAKER_01He's slipping.
SPEAKER_06Alright, it's two. That's over now. It's over, alright. We're getting a full-blown checklist now.
SPEAKER_03On episode 104. Oh yeah. I'm about to turn into a real problem with. No, it's 103. This one? Yeah. But we don't have the checklist yet. So the one one that we'd have the checklist for would be 104.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_02So I have one hero point.
SPEAKER_03Not zero. I have uh I have a O written down, like a circle. And I think that is supposed to represent one of the coins.
SPEAKER_05I thought O. I thought that I thought you were using the alphabet to numerically demonstrate how many you had. So that's like 15 or something.
SPEAKER_06What does that mean? Is that in Roman? Uh numerical?
SPEAKER_04I have three. Damn. I am maxed out still. Just try I already have mine.
SPEAKER_02Never mind. Anyone else?
SPEAKER_04Take them home. I mean, I would like one, but I have to earn it. I know. I was the one who brought these in. I have a stash at home. I just That's why he brought them in.
SPEAKER_05He's like, you should start using these.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, these are for the show. These ones are so much cooler than the ones we had. I don't have any at home, if that's what you're implying.
SPEAKER_03Did we leave the shop already?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Okay, cool.
SPEAKER_05You guys are Violet. Turn and look. The sun is just beginning to rise. It is still drizzling. It is cold. And as you turn and look down the street, there are people beginning to hurry, making their way to the Karahai Fortress to begin their work, to begin their day. But coming down the street in the opposite direction from the fortress, you see a woman clad in blue with a big long bow across her back and a quiver. She seems to have a mace, like a white mace on her head. And leading her through the street, you see something familiar. And it just sends a shiver down your spine. A figure clad in crimson robes wearing a mask. And despite the rising sun, she clinches. A lit torch. Smoke is coming off in great bellows. There's something on this torch to make it smoke more than necessary. And despite her distance, you can already smell like this incense coming off of it. And then you get lightheaded as that smell hits you.
SPEAKER_04Uh oh. You're getting cleansed.
SPEAKER_05What would you guys like to do?
SPEAKER_03We walk other way. We go other way.
SPEAKER_02I gotta go. We're gonna try to get out of town casually walking away. Act natural, okay?
SPEAKER_03Always natural. Natural lizard.
SPEAKER_05You guys turn, start walking the other way, and you realize that the blush that you have put on to make yourself look more alive, the fake nose that you had to put on the end of Violet Snout to make it look like a real human nose. And a little mustache.
SPEAKER_01Alive That's all we were going for.
SPEAKER_05Fake mustache because it all begins to run in the rain. You don't have long for these disguises to last. And then you hear shouting behind you What is who's that?
SPEAKER_03Stop there.
SPEAKER_05People are calling at you from behind. Do we run?
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, Ari will cast fly on both of us and we'll get out. Time to go!
SPEAKER_04Do you still have spell slots? How many did we did we use?
SPEAKER_02I used three second-level spell slots for invisibility.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_02Right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so you got one fly left? Yes. If you cast on me, can I drag her out? Or can you drag me out? I can.
SPEAKER_02Um okay. That's weird though. Anyways, how far are we from the exit, I guess? Like, how far are we from getting out of town?
SPEAKER_0530 miles. I don't know.
SPEAKER_06It's a big town. Whoa. What do you need?
SPEAKER_05What are your answers' options right now? You guys are being You guys are being called from behind. You have seconds to decide what to do. You hear footsteps approaching quickly. They start running after you.
SPEAKER_02Um, I think we should go.
SPEAKER_0310. 9. Cast fly on me how much.
SPEAKER_02I'll cast fly on Violet Wagon.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Yeah, and I'll grab Ari and Scooch.
SPEAKER_05Fourth level spell slot. Um what is fly speed? How does that work? Is it like your movement speed or that's a good question?
SPEAKER_0220 feet or your fly speed, whichever is greater.
SPEAKER_05Or your fly speed? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Gain a fly speed equal to its speed or 20 feet, whichever is greater. Yeah, 20. Sorry.
SPEAKER_05So, Viola, how fast can you fly without the fly spell?
SPEAKER_03Um so my speed is 30. But I got my armor on now, so my speed is probably 25. I'll have to double check that because we just bought the armor.
SPEAKER_05Did you put it on right there in the store, I guess?
SPEAKER_03No, but I have it.
SPEAKER_05You know, it's well Well, then you're just calculating bulk, like pairing.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so then bulk is fine. So yeah, that's 30.
SPEAKER_05Okay, cool. Um now I'm picturing you like walking down the street, like trying to put a leg on as you're moving through, you're like half-dressed, and they're like, hey, what are you guys doing? Um Ari rolls her eyes, uh, you pick her up, and you fly out of town at 30 feet, and they are trying to give chase on the ground. Yeah, we just they're kind of keeping pace.
SPEAKER_03Do a barrel roll. I mean, we're just going straight for a fence, so hopefully at the fence they gotta redirect you know.
SPEAKER_05And that's what I was just asking.
SPEAKER_02I was hoping you guys would decorate it, but no, we're like one of the bunnies in our bunnies in our neighborhood, and they see a car is coming down the road and they run in front of it in straight lines.
SPEAKER_06Or the car. We can intimidate this thing. This feels good. This feels like the right way to get away.
SPEAKER_01They're still following me!
SPEAKER_06Wait, do I go at the fortress?
SPEAKER_02The busier the better.
SPEAKER_05The smell of the incense is still lingering in your nostrils, and you still feel lightheaded. Give me a fortitude save. Oh, okay. Wait, which dice do I want to roll?
SPEAKER_02I should have a plus one, I believe, from the ritual.
SPEAKER_04Gardas is full on laying down on top of the hill just staring at the at the sunrise, going, Man, it's more beautiful than I remembered. Do you think the Mindscape got it right? 26.
SPEAKER_02I rolled a natural two. I want to re-roll that with my remaining heroes.
SPEAKER_05Last hero point.
SPEAKER_02Natural 13.
SPEAKER_04It's a lot better.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05It's DC twenty-three. Oh, I made it.
SPEAKER_02Fortitude. Uh 26.
SPEAKER_05You guys are fine.
SPEAKER_03And you fly to your knoll in your green hill.
SPEAKER_06For all we know, Gardas, this could be another minescape. It could be an endless series of minescapes, one deeper than the other. Oh shit.
SPEAKER_04I didn't even think about that.
SPEAKER_02Guys, we gotta go.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_02When the hell did you get here? People got suspicious.
SPEAKER_06Who are you? Wait, hang on. Can I put on my armor?
SPEAKER_02Can we like go find some cover and then put on your armor?
SPEAKER_05You guys are pretty secure at this hill. Yeah. Um 700 ish feet away from town, um, overlooking, you know, this is where Gardas and uh almost said life pops. Almost. Osu after I said light. Uh laying down, looking over, like, you know, people don't typically come up here, you're off the road a bit. Um, Willow Shore is a few miles to your back.
SPEAKER_06I think we should maybe get some rest now.
SPEAKER_04I mean, yeah, we've been having a pretty easy time just skirting around, not even going into town, to get to our uh little fishing hole.
SPEAKER_02Let's get out of here.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_05I'm getting tired anyways. Uh you take the 30, 45 minutes to make it back to the uh fishing spot, the small abandoned outpost just south of Karahai. And Raisho is not there. He is not there waiting for you, though it does look like he's left some of his stuff, as if he intends to return at some point. Uh it looks like he is out on other business.
SPEAKER_04I'm gonna root through his shit. Does he have anything good?
SPEAKER_05Uh you find about forty pieces of silver.
SPEAKER_04I'm not taking any of it, but I am gonna leave it kind of strown about so it's obvious that we looked through it.
SPEAKER_05Uh you find a notebook. It seems to be filled with poetries and letters to his daughter. And uh give me a perception check.
SPEAKER_04Oh wow. Natural 19. Wow. Uh for a 35.
SPEAKER_03All of his stuff is in code. He's actually a spy.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, right. He's a gor Joramundo spy. I'm just flipping through the pages.
SPEAKER_05Uh, you do find a rune uh amongst his stuff. Like a weapon rune. What kind?
SPEAKER_04I don't know.
SPEAKER_05We'll look at it. Put it back, artist. Crafting check. Oh.
SPEAKER_04Oh, crafting check.
SPEAKER_05That's probably a good way. Or some sort of magic.
SPEAKER_04Natural 19.
SPEAKER_05Uh, it is a greater striking rune.
SPEAKER_04Ooh.
SPEAKER_03We should ask him if he wants to sell this.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. We can afford that. I don't know. Well, we can talk him down. Uh again, leaving everything just kind of strewn about so that he knows we went through a shit.
SPEAKER_05But I'm not like right on top of his pillow so we don't forget to talk about it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'm I'm not taking anything. I'm not trying to steal anything.
SPEAKER_05Great.
SPEAKER_02Ari, well, once he's done, go and like put his stuff back like as it was beforehand.
SPEAKER_05As close as you can get it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Don't be rude. It's not your stuff. He's letting us stay here.
SPEAKER_04He's not letting us do anything. We're just doing it.
SPEAKER_05The sun is up, but still pretty low. Uh it's probably what? 9, 10 a.m.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Who wants ghost dinner? Sleep time. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04You like that ghost food? Eggs. I'm gonna throw you a throw you a steak uncooked. Yeah. Just raw pork. Yeah, chomp, chomp chomp, chomp. Eggs.
SPEAKER_01Eggs.
SPEAKER_04I just threw you a pork steak. Where?
SPEAKER_03You ate it. I don't see steak anywhere. You ate it.
SPEAKER_04Like it bar it didn't even touch the ground.
SPEAKER_03You know how hungry Violet is.
SPEAKER_02Um don't be stingy, Gardis.
SPEAKER_04Give me eggs. Okay, okay, good.
SPEAKER_02You might still be growing.
SPEAKER_04Please and thank you. I'm gonna start a small fire just big enough to cook.
SPEAKER_02No fires.
SPEAKER_04Fine.
SPEAKER_02Sushi tonight.
SPEAKER_04Ah. Hey, Violet. Yes. Open. Ah. And I'm just gonna throw eggs, like raw eggs, at your mouth. More eggs. As many as I have. Holy shit. This violet's like an endless pit. I haven't eaten in forever. We had breakfast this morning.
SPEAKER_03I might still be growing. I'm only like four days old. Yeah. Two days old.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_02She's hungry.
SPEAKER_04Alright, let's go to bed now. Or whatever we do as ghosts.
SPEAKER_02Haunties.
SPEAKER_06You can't call me that. I get to say it now.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we're taking it back.
SPEAKER_05Uh setting watches? Not setting watches? Watches.
SPEAKER_06Oh, I do first watch. Okay, I'll take second.
SPEAKER_02Okay, wake me up when you're done.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Gardens, do you get last watch? Yeah, I don't even that's why I don't even try to call it. Because you make dinner. Breakfast. Breakfast. Are you going to be able to make more eggs? Sure. The blue eggs taste better. Than the white eggs did. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Ari.
SPEAKER_02Uh-oh.
SPEAKER_05You're sitting in the dark. Uh are you in the hut or outside the hut? Where do you keep watch at?
SPEAKER_02Um, I think in the hut, just kind of watching the door.
SPEAKER_05And it slowly creaks open. And due to your spirit sight, you see the outline of a tangu walk in.
SPEAKER_02I uh have a spell readied and then I just kinda let it die down in my hands. Oh. Hello, welcome back.
SPEAKER_05Thanks. I know you guys eat I wasn't sure if this food would suffice, but I have some stuff. And he just kinda like lays down a rucksack uh at your feed, and it's filled with almost said human food. Um, non-spirit food, like normal real-world food food. And it's like rice balls and sweet cakes and like pretty decent stuff.
SPEAKER_02Where did you get this?
SPEAKER_05Karahai.
SPEAKER_02You stole it?
SPEAKER_05I wouldn't say stole. I don't know if people are gonna miss it.
SPEAKER_02Go on.
SPEAKER_05Karahai is struggling. Kaimago has taken advantage of these people. And many inside the fort are living quite comfortably. Apparently there was a fire in the fortress last night.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And I took advantage of their distractions. And went to their kitchens on the south side of the inner circle and took what I could.
SPEAKER_02Cool. She'll grab a rice ball, start eating it. Uh, this is delicious.
SPEAKER_05I'm gonna go to bed now. Who went through my stuff? What the hell? Turns and looks at you with a frown on his spirit on your spirit side face. You can see that he's pretty upset.
SPEAKER_02Um, yeah, Gardas, I couldn't stop him, was going through your things. He didn't take anything.
SPEAKER_05I should skin that dwarf.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, a lot of people say that. Um just try to forgive him. He's very difficult difficult. Um, and he doesn't trust anybody. He's just kind of a jerk. But we need him, so just I'm sorry on his behalf. I try to put it back as neatly as possible, but So you both went through my stuff. No, I was putting it back. He left it in a mess. It was rude.
SPEAKER_05And you see he begins to pack it up, maybe even more than it was before. And he just kinda like stands there afterwards, like looks over his shoulder at the door, looks back at his, you know, his betting. And just like sits down cross-legged, facing away from everyone.
SPEAKER_02You have to understand that we've had it pretty rough.
SPEAKER_05That is no excuse. You aren't the only ones that have struggled.
SPEAKER_02And I would understand if you went through our stuff while we were gone.
SPEAKER_05Can I go through his stuff?
SPEAKER_02Sure.
SPEAKER_05I'll help you. Sleep.
SPEAKER_06I actually do have a character sheet for this guy. Have a drink out of this flask.
SPEAKER_05So he walks over and begins trying to rifle through your stuff, and he gets a 40 on his stealth check. Nice. Sorry, 39.
SPEAKER_03Do you hear him? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He doesn't actually sleep.
SPEAKER_05Uh, what does he find as he starts digging through your stuff?
SPEAKER_04I mean, you know. What do you what do you want a full thing?
SPEAKER_01What do you see?
SPEAKER_04He finds a bag of holding. Yeah, like a bag of holding. No, it doesn't, no more dead bodies. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01It's just blood.
SPEAKER_04Bag of holding, uh like armor and stuff. Like, I don't put that stuff in the bag of holding. That stuff would have just been like left out, like my normal weapons and everything, right? Um, bag of holding has like a shitload of bones in it still. Um an empty cask with the dyed ale. Do you think that we're the worst party ever? You can get a bag of wine. It's like empty casks, potions, bones, bones, antidotes, books. There's like a shitload of books in there. Um, some keys, just random keys to stuff in uh Willowshore. He'll take your meat cleaver clandegger. Okay.
SPEAKER_02You can't keep that.
SPEAKER_05Are you gonna be able to take it from me?
SPEAKER_02What's your deal?
SPEAKER_05I have spirits haunting my hut. I tried to be cordial and give them what they want, and yet still they torment me. I think a better question is the fuck is your deal?
SPEAKER_04We're trying to Is this conversation gonna wake us up at all? Because they're not being quiet anymore.
SPEAKER_05They're not being loud either.
SPEAKER_02We're trying to save our town. We told you.
SPEAKER_05I have no investment nor care for Willow Shore. And he goes back over to his bedding and sits down, kind of like twirling the cleaver in his hands.
SPEAKER_02I still think that we can help each other out.
SPEAKER_05But you weren't interested in my help.
SPEAKER_02What do you mean? Just because we didn't have a task for you doesn't mean we didn't want your help.
SPEAKER_05It's f I I brought you food. What more do you want from me?
SPEAKER_02I just feel like there's still s there's some animosity here.
SPEAKER_05You guys went through my shit!
SPEAKER_02No, Gardas did. He ruins everything. No, I know you've gone through a lot. It must be really hard to lose your family.
SPEAKER_05Do you have family?
SPEAKER_02I did.
SPEAKER_05What happened to them?
SPEAKER_02I was gone for 115 years.
SPEAKER_05How long do gnomes live for?
SPEAKER_02As long as they don't go through the bleaching.
SPEAKER_05So you don't know what happened to your family?
SPEAKER_02No, I haven't seen them in 115 years.
SPEAKER_05Have you tried to find them?
SPEAKER_02Well, we couldn't even get out of Willowshore for the longest time, and now everybody's in danger. Once we save our town and ourselves and come back to the real world permanently, then I'll try to find them.
SPEAKER_05Nothing is more important than family.
SPEAKER_02We could be your family.
SPEAKER_05I have not fallen that far yet.
SPEAKER_02We might win you over yet.
SPEAKER_05Turns his back to you, uh, sitting on his bed and just like twirls with the plays with the clandegger.
SPEAKER_02She goes over and gives him a hug.
SPEAKER_05He fights you off. No, no, don't, not like that. That's weird. Stop it. You're cold.
SPEAKER_02It's okay, you like it. No, you're ghostly.
SPEAKER_03It's weird. Kind of squishy. Give him kiss. I've been listening to the whole conversation.
SPEAKER_02Uh she'll finish your watch. Finish your watch.
SPEAKER_05And then we uh you'll have to wake up Gardis.
SPEAKER_02She goes over and pushes his shoulder with her foot. Get up, Gardis.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Time to start cooking. What is all this garbage? I see all the food that he brought us on the floor.
SPEAKER_02It's really good. Be nice to him, okay?
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah. Check this out.
SPEAKER_02He knows you went through a shit.
SPEAKER_05I just keep laying down now. Like after you guys finish us watching it look like he's trying to go to bed.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I just cast a spell and like there's uh now more food than what he brought. Haha. Why do we need food? We've got plenty. Ari's already laying down. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I just can't right now.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Uh as I go to start cooking, I'm like, hey, where's my clo- where's my cleaver? My dagger. I use it to cut things.
SPEAKER_02She's sleeping.
SPEAKER_04Oh she's I'm gonna go over and kick Ari away.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you're a bitch!
SPEAKER_04Where's my dagger? My cleaver.
SPEAKER_02I don't know, you must have misplaced it.
SPEAKER_04Well, I kick her. Where did I misplace it?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. Stop kicking me. Okay? You'll have to use something else.
SPEAKER_04No, I don't have anything else. I don't have anything else to cut with. I've got a hammer and an axe- I guess axes can cut.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, get creative.
SPEAKER_04But it's not made to cut food.
SPEAKER_02Just deal with it, Gardas. Okay? Make things that don't need to be cut.
SPEAKER_04I'm gonna start going through everybody's shit. I'll start, I'll start with ours. Um and then when I don't find it, I'll start going to the tango. I'm doing this loudly too, so people might wake up. I assume everyone's probably awake at this point.
SPEAKER_03Violet wakes up and is pissed that she had to wake up early, so she's gonna full-on threatening approach you.
SPEAKER_01She's cranky.
SPEAKER_03And she sleeps in her armor now, so she's in full plate. Um she's seven feet tall and 400 pounds, and she's got her frills going. Here we go. Intimidation. Oh, that's cracked. 18 on the dive, 33 to intimidate. How intimidated are you?
SPEAKER_04Intimidated, yeah. I'm a full first one success. Okay, so you're frightened too. Okay, for little over twelve so twelve seconds.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. What the hell, man? Put that away. And then Violet's gonna like push on your arms, like, you leave my stuff alone, you get your stuff. Violet's literally only got armor and a backpack and a shield, and she's just pissed that you're trying to take her stuff away. I'm not trying to take anything.
SPEAKER_04Somebody stole my dagger. Wait, hang on. How does a shove work here?
SPEAKER_06Stole it or did you lose it?
SPEAKER_04Probably the second one. I had it when I cooked a bunch of eggs and meat and stuff last night.
SPEAKER_06Violet, you didn't accidentally eat his dagger, did you? That's a possibility.
SPEAKER_02She has an iron stomach.
SPEAKER_03So, wait.
SPEAKER_02We'll just get you a new dagger.
SPEAKER_03It's not that simple. What do you shove against? AC or fortitude? AC. No.
SPEAKER_02Can we just flavor it? Does it flavor shove?
SPEAKER_03It doesn't need to be. Well, it matters because you're gonna take damage. I don't care. Okay. Uh you take 10 points of damage. Alright. What does that do? Fortitude DC. Fortitude DC. Uh I'm gonna push you back like across the corner of the bed so that you trip on it. Uh would you take damage? Because I have this really cool feat. Got it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, got it. Yeah. Um, and then Violet. What did you roll?
SPEAKER_04Um I rolled a 32. Okay, so it's a one, but then I don't fall and you push me back half of what you thought, because I have the like rock dwarf or something.
SPEAKER_03Oh, so that's pretty sick. You still take 10 points of damage. Yeah, yeah. I still take the damage. So Violet grabs her shield and her backpacket curls up and a ball lays on him in a big huff. Big mean card is a little bit more.
SPEAKER_04I'm not trying to I'm not trying to take your stuff.
SPEAKER_03You were being mean.
SPEAKER_04How?
SPEAKER_03You woke me up. Violet needs sleep. Only this many. And she holds up some number of fingers that is close to the number of things that sleep in here.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so I guess next entourage show.
SPEAKER_05Like, did they hide it or I mean you don't immediately see it, uh, but you like walk over, put your hand out to like grab his backpack sort of thing, and from what seems to be him sleeping, he catches your wrist. The next time you touch my stuff, dwarf, I will banish you.
SPEAKER_04How much you want for that greater striking rune? Straight into a deal.
SPEAKER_05I have no interest in dealing with nosy pestilent dwarfs.
SPEAKER_03That's fine. Haunty dwarf. Nosy pestulent haunty dwarf. Or ghosts. I was trying to back them up.
SPEAKER_04So you said it's not immediately I don't immediately see.
SPEAKER_05You could give me a perception check, but it's gonna be pretty high DC.
SPEAKER_04Um that's not bad. 31 fail. Wow. Yeah, but it's close.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Um starting to think we shouldn't mess with this guy. Please. We should ask him for more help.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So why'd you steal my shit? What makes you think I took your stuff? And he kind of looks over, he like his eyes dart towards Ari and then back at you real quick.
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm. Cause we've been together for a long time, and my clan dagger's never gone missing. We've been together for 115 years, and all of a sudden you show up and it's gone.
SPEAKER_05I think you misplaced it, dwarf.
SPEAKER_04I used it last night when we were cooking and then went to bed. I got my eye on you, bird.
SPEAKER_06Pops is like rooting through all Gardas' stuff and like tipping over the bag of holding and like kicking up dirt around where he was sleeping. I'm not seeing it anywhere. What is your perception DC, Gardas?
SPEAKER_05Um You don't have to tell me, I'll just roll 17 plus.
SPEAKER_04So 27.
SPEAKER_05I only got a two on the dice for it, 25. So you you it's 27, you said? So you see he like reaches over uh like on your belt, and you see that he's like hiding it up his sleeve, and he pulls and he acts like he's like pulling it from your belt. He's like, Looks like you've had it all along.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, big selfish Gardas.
SPEAKER_04What the fuck? That was up your sleeve, dick. I just take it back and huff off. I could see it. He frowns, kind of confused.
SPEAKER_06No one's ever seen that. We all have bad days, friend.
SPEAKER_04Hey, look, I went through your ship, but at least I didn't take anything, and we will pay you for that at some point if you want to sell it. Anyway, you want some breakfast?
SPEAKER_05Again, I'm still not convinced that I won't be banishing you by the end of the day.
SPEAKER_04I mean, you can try, but until that happens, do you want any food? I mean, I I see that you brought us some garbage that you found in around, but I can actually cook. He lays back down.
SPEAKER_05I know you spirits have odd hours, but it is nighttime, and I am tired.
SPEAKER_04So no. Alright. Just gonna start cooking.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Is it wake up time yet? Are you is it wake up time? Are you awake? Kicking at you with a light.
SPEAKER_02I was trying to sleep.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I'll go back to sleep then. Pops, what are you doing? Oh my god.
SPEAKER_04Pops never woke up this whole time. Cardis, teach me how to cook. Teach me how to cook. Okay. Uh you get this fire here. Yes. Light a little fire. Yes. Um, you do this, and I start showing you, like, just in general, how to cook. Like, uh, cut up the ingredients.
SPEAKER_03I went stamping out the fire with her new gauntlets. What are you doing? There's no supposed to be any fires, smokes.
SPEAKER_04We made a fire during the daytime. We did? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02We were specifically trying not to light fires.
SPEAKER_04Who?
SPEAKER_05This would be the first time you guys lit a fire if you do make a fire.
SPEAKER_04It was immediately stamped out. God damn it. Now we can't cook. Here, just see this? It's just a big again, uh, steak. Just gonna throw it at you. What steak? What eggs? Holy crap. I'm gonna I'm gonna need to get more eggs for you. Couple hours passes.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you guys take me there. Like, uh, I don't I don't have anything for you. I don't have like I you guys I I've presented the sandbox. I don't know what else. I don't know, I don't know what else to give you guys right now.
SPEAKER_06It's nighttime we're full rested. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yes, full everyone has a full rest. Let's get back to the sorry, is that what you guys were missing?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, full rest.
SPEAKER_01Making sure that the rest was over.
SPEAKER_04I'm kicking Ari again to wake her up. Daily preparations.
SPEAKER_05Yes, almost got on a few hours to no consequence.
SPEAKER_04Throw up throw a plate of uncooked food like next to you. They won't let me light a fire and walk off.
SPEAKER_02Don't kick me again.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Okay, guys, we need to go terrorize the fort again.
SPEAKER_06Yes. Let's see here. We have that bag of bones, yes? Oh, I got bones. Very good. I submit that we should uh make effigies of the bones and hang them in trees around town.
SPEAKER_04Wait, we need to get more bones, though, because really most of these are just fish bones. Oh, yeah, that's right.
SPEAKER_06We never did go to the graveyard, did we?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, let's go get some bones first.
SPEAKER_03Okay, on the way, can Pops and I light ourselves on fire and run through town real fast? Yeah, I don't see any problem with it.
SPEAKER_02I think that's a terrible idea.
SPEAKER_03Do you guys have any spells that make us faster?
SPEAKER_02No, I have haste, but it only lo it lasts for like a minute.
SPEAKER_06Do you have uh do you have do you have flight for your major power?
SPEAKER_03Um, I mean I could change it, it's still preparation.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, everyone make sure you do your ghostly powers as part of your daily preparations.
SPEAKER_04I was planning on changing it back to what I would normally have, which is the resistance or something. Not taking flight. Unless we want to keep flying thing places, then I was gonna just change it back.
SPEAKER_06I don't know. It's it sort of seems like uh flight might be real valuable to have in our back pocket if we ever need to get away. Yeah. No, I think we should I think we should save it for now. One thing at a time.
SPEAKER_04Graveyard. Let's go. Alright, let me get my shovel.
SPEAKER_06Oh, we're not going to need a shovel. You leave that part to me.
SPEAKER_04I can help with that too. Alright, out the door, right?
SPEAKER_05Right show gave you directions. It's pretty easy to find the graveyard just outside of Karahai. Uh as it's, you know, dark out becoming later in the evening. There's no one out here. Uh it is a relatively small graveyard, but you do find I don't know. 40-50 graves. Okay.
SPEAKER_02So I chose flickering figure as my major spirit power for today, so I can uh become I can like shimmer and blend into my surroundings and become concealed for ten minutes, and this allows me to hide. Cool.
SPEAKER_04I also I did my vital beacon instead of preparing everything flies, I did my normal preparations, so vital beacon is one of the things that I'm casting at level four. And I'm gonna I guess I am, since we brought it up, I will keep the fly as the as the major power, my major ghost power, which means I don't have the resist death one. That's my preparations. In case this turns into a fight. As graveyards tend to do.
SPEAKER_06Sometimes. Hopefully not this time. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Do you all four of you go to the graveyard? Yep.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_05It's up on a hill. Find forty to fifty graves, some more marked than others. Uh a tall but dead tree stands near the center of it.
SPEAKER_06Let's just have a quick look around and see if there's anything that jumps out at us.
SPEAKER_04Okay. I'm gonna go to where the biggest cluster of graves look like they are and cast Soothing Spring.
SPEAKER_01Why?
SPEAKER_05To make like a bone broth.
SPEAKER_04A broth. Exactly.
SPEAKER_01We just get a big ladle out.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. So it'll be easier to scoop up the bones just off of the like skim them off the top rather than having to dig them up.
SPEAKER_05I don't think that's how this spell works, but I will it does.
SPEAKER_04It says it like it needs earth and it like carves it into the earth and everything. It doesn't just like appear.
SPEAKER_05It's not an extra-dimensional space or a thing.
SPEAKER_04No, it like creates one.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_04That's the name of the episode. You've made you have made a bone suit. Takes yeah, it takes one minute to cast.
SPEAKER_05Damn. Okay. Uh there's stone headstones floating, like sinking through it, and bones rising up to the top.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I just got like a stick and I'm trying to like just rake them together. Exactly. So messed up. Filling up my bag of holding. Anyone else?
SPEAKER_02Ari's going to go around and look at the tombstones and look for names that she recognizes. Okay.
SPEAKER_04I just I just made broth. Yeah. With your ancestors.
SPEAKER_02That was my family's burial site. Great, great, great grandparents are buried there.
SPEAKER_03Pops, good to use the bones. We can reinforce Raju's tent, and it'll be stronger and it will have magic. Right?
SPEAKER_05There was so much wrong with that sentence.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Pops goes over to Ari and and uh says Ari, we must remember our goal. We must remember our mission. We cannot allow the forces of necromancy to proliferate. I'm sure the spirits of these people will forgive us in our cause. And he starts casting Rays Island. Once an hour? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02All of the graves overnight.
SPEAKER_03Just ten feet pillars.
SPEAKER_06Well, 15 feet across, 15 wide.
SPEAKER_04So we're just gonna we're just gonna spend like all night here just gathering bones.
SPEAKER_06And hopefully a fresh corpse or two. Yeah, right. I never know. If the captain's still there with the uh and or on his back, or no, the uh or else. Or else, yeah. Sorry, I got my logic gates mixed up. Alright.
SPEAKER_05Everyone give me a will save. Okie dokie.
SPEAKER_0631? 32? Graveyard madness.
SPEAKER_02We have plus one, right?
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Not super great.
SPEAKER_02Twenty-two.
SPEAKER_04Uh how do I do math again? Thirty two. We died. Thirty-three. I forgot the plus one.
SPEAKER_05Gardas and Violet are doomed one. Oh no. Ari Pops are doomed two. As you guys begin to have these visions, and it's being you get the feeling, the sensation, like in your gut, that you are being dragged to the boneyard. That you are seeing your final death and destruction. I guess. Let me see real quick. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_06Doomed. Your soul has been gripped by a powerful force which calls you close to death. Doom has always included a value. The dying value at which you die is reduced by the doom value. If your dying value reduced reduced is reduced the is reduced to zero, you instantly die. When you die, you no longer are doomed.
SPEAKER_05Um, Gardas, you get the sense that uh this is something celestial. You feel uh your connection to your god weaken. I rolled a critical success for Pops, who realizes that uh despite your dire need, you have pissed off the goddess Pharasma. Nice. Uh as a spirit desecrating the dead, she is frowning upon your deeds. You guys have as many skeletons and bones as you would like uh and mummified-ish corpses.
SPEAKER_04Wonderful. Sweet. Are we gonna do are we setting up up here or do we want to set them up somewhere in town?
SPEAKER_05Do keep in mind that with this doom value, threat level has increased.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it only goes down after uh full night's rest. Yes. Goes down by one. Yeah. Um, so when this happens, Ari just like starts just like whimpering and like cowering, and then she's just like trying to get out of the graveyard. We gotta go. We gotta go. We can't do this. This is bad. It's so bad.
SPEAKER_06Pops plowing the bones into the bag. Yeah. Same. He's resolute. How long have we been doing this for?
SPEAKER_04Do you think?
SPEAKER_05Like 15, 20 minutes.
SPEAKER_04Oh, so not very long.
SPEAKER_05I mean, it only took you a minute to cast your spell. Yeah. Raise Earth, we know is uh two act or three actions, yeah. Sorry. It's three actions? Yeah, I think so.
SPEAKER_04I don't know, still like one turn. Exactly. Yeah, three actions.
SPEAKER_05Okay, so six seconds there, uh six D seconds there. Yeah. Um and and now I'm assuming you guys have also collected the bodies that you have wanted. So 15-ish minutes. Alright. And Ari's probably been freaking out for five of those. Alright, stop freaking out.
SPEAKER_02And she's just leaving.
SPEAKER_04Alright, alright. We do we we got enough. I think so. I guess we don't build them here. Ari wants to take off. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_02She's not looking back, she's just going.
SPEAKER_04Alright, let's let's keep up. Let's not leave her on our own. Do I need to get out of pool?
SPEAKER_01Swimming in there. Yeah, picking up the bones.
SPEAKER_06He's gnawing on bones.
SPEAKER_05Sorry, we did kind of brush over something, so I need to go back just a little bit. Alright, give me a perception check.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Too many papers. Twenty-eight.
SPEAKER_05It's not quite a tombstone, and it's definitely not a grave, but you find a small shrine near the big tree in the center. It reads Elzeera, Beloved Mother, Wife, Craftswoman, and Shining Star. There's a candle that has long burnt out there, and a contraption that you can't quite make out. It seems to be made of uh like a wheel with a stick across it and string that has long deteriorated. And this is before you got cursed.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Ari will drop to her knees and she'll start crying, and she'll rifle through her backpack, and she pulls out a little flask that she had um stored her mom's necklace in that smelled of like rotting.
SPEAKER_05I definitely remember that now though.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so she pulls out the flask and she'll just take the smelly necklace out and lay it on the shrine.
SPEAKER_05As you take it out, you do not catch a smell from it.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02She's like, I'll miss you, mom.
SPEAKER_05And then a curse hits you. Boom.
SPEAKER_02And now I'm doomed. She fucking runs. Doom three.
SPEAKER_04Doomed three is how it's a column of corpses rise behind you and you feel cursed.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Oh right. Doomed two. Like if you're downed once, you're dead, right? Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Pretty pretty dangerous. Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_03Let's go get and fight.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Tonight feels like maybe not the night. I'm feeling good about it.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Ari, can you at least fly over town and throw a fire at me? She's running. I made that clean.
SPEAKER_05Come on, let's not. Keep up. Violet's just in the back climbing out of the pool. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Thinks like a tombstone is Ari, like it's just like in kind of the shape of her just talking to her. How long have you not been Ari?
SPEAKER_03Violet's using a tombstone as like a chew toy, like she's like scratching the back of her teeth, like R R R R. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_04Alright, back to our base of operations then.
SPEAKER_05Easy enough. Quick John and a skip.
SPEAKER_06Gardis, can you arrange these maybe with some rope to turn them into sort of I don't know, say a horrifying chandelier?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I I just want to I'm like I just want to like take all the bones and make them all look like the Blair Witch like little people type thing. Do you know what that is? Yeah. Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I've seen movies.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Like the Blair Witch effigies. It kind of it kind of looks like a very rudimentary person with like an upside-down triangle and some little arms and legs and stuff.
SPEAKER_05How many of those do you think you can make?
SPEAKER_04Uh as many as I have the bones for. Should we roll for it?
SPEAKER_05Well, yeah, I guess uh sure.
SPEAKER_03Let's roll for it. They're called twanas.
SPEAKER_00That's gross.
SPEAKER_03That's gross, man. Why would they bring that up? Two, three, four, six to make a twana.
SPEAKER_04Why would you bring that up?
SPEAKER_02Or bones.
SPEAKER_04I guess crafting? Sure. Nineteen on the dice again? Yes. Just as uh uh thirty two.
unknownDamn.
SPEAKER_05Uh you can make you can make eleven.
SPEAKER_04A shitload of them. Uh alright. Let's we've got them on ropes just kind of ready to tie up into a tree. Is there a big tree or something anywhere in town? Probably not.
SPEAKER_05I mean, there's there's not one singular tree in town. You guys would know that there's a few bare cottonwood trees uh in the center of the Karahai Fortress. Um but uh yeah, that would be hard.
SPEAKER_04I'm still I'm just trying to think of a good spot where we could put these.
SPEAKER_02I feel like we could find little hooks on buildings and you know, like if there's any shrines, like we can hang them from different places. Yeah, okay. It wouldn't be too hard.
SPEAKER_06All right.
SPEAKER_02Signs.
SPEAKER_06Wherever people are gonna see them. Yeah. Fire hydrants, stoplights.
SPEAKER_03Who's good at stealth?
SPEAKER_06I am, but I should probably not risk any kind of encounter tonight. My soul feels weak.
SPEAKER_02Ari's been pretty quiet the whole time, and she has her um she's got her like writing set out and she's drawing pictures.
SPEAKER_06Pops is praying to Pharasma. He's like, oh yeah. Maybe maybe that wasn't such such a great idea.
SPEAKER_03Or are we just staying in today?
SPEAKER_04I guess so. These two don't seem like they're uh up for doing anything.
SPEAKER_05Yes. You guys spin just take a down day?
SPEAKER_04I think so. That's what uh everybody seems scared. I'm scared.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Ari found out that her mom is officially dead and then got cursed by Pharasma, so she's not doing well.
SPEAKER_04Hey Ari, did you find any of your uh ancestors in the graveyard?
SPEAKER_02I don't want to talk about it, Gardis.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that's a yes.
SPEAKER_02I'm not in the mood for being made fun of and picked on and kicked.
SPEAKER_04I wasn't gonna do that till later. Not right now. Sorry about your ancestors.
SPEAKER_02She like throws something at you. Leave me alone!
SPEAKER_05Rysho is typically trying to sleep at night in the hut. So are you guys like doing this in there? Of course. Okay, like I give a shit. Yeah, he just like sits back up staring at the wall.
SPEAKER_04Raisho, I thought you were trying to sleep. This dwarf.
SPEAKER_03Should we go outside?
SPEAKER_05You should probably go back to where you belong.
SPEAKER_03We can only be here for a few more weeks.
SPEAKER_05That's rude. You have died. Move on. You go back to where you belong.
SPEAKER_06We are trying to move on.
SPEAKER_05I'm trying to find a place where it feels that I belong, but everything in this world keeps getting taken by me from me.
SPEAKER_04So out here on the docks, that's where you found alone.
SPEAKER_03Hey, Raijo, you could come stay at the boar with us if we fix it.
SPEAKER_05I don't think I could the Cerulean boar. Take much time around this dwarf. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03He had a house too. You could take his house. It needs fixing.
SPEAKER_04It collapsed. It was underground. I think it I need to go for a loss. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Stay away from the graveyard.
SPEAKER_06No reason. Yeah, right. It's fine. There's just there's bone chimes laying around.
SPEAKER_04I I imagine we weren't able to get all the bones before we kind of had to rush out. So there's still just some bones and stuff laying around.
SPEAKER_05Well, we know that like once he raises Earth, like things don't just magically go back to how they were afterwards. And you know, you made a pool that we decided isn't an extra-dimensional space. So once the pool goes away, everything that was there, tombstones and bones are just there on top now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So um you guys have, I guess, a down day to do crafting um rune stuff. I don't know if you guys have anything like that. Uh you all benefit from a long rest, but you do not decrease your doomed value.
SPEAKER_06No.
SPEAKER_02Really?
SPEAKER_05Uh-oh. You have been cursed.
SPEAKER_02Guess I'm just gonna spend the rest of this part of the adventure in this hut.
SPEAKER_04Just hiding here.
SPEAKER_06Um Gardis, is there another day down. I feel I feel unwell, Gardas. Is there anything you can do? Oh shit, I don't know.
SPEAKER_04To lift what feels like a curse. I think it sounds like you pissed off Pharasma pretty good.
SPEAKER_05Um, and all of your dreams are just uh you dying in a bunch of different ways.
SPEAKER_04Terrible nightmares. It's always my dreams.
SPEAKER_05But the rest of you have dreams of you dying in a thousand different ways.
SPEAKER_04Um, I mean, I can look I can look up spells and stuff. We just keep playing. It's just it's just my time on the path.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they live it all. Yeah. Um, there are not uh I mean there's probably like a remove curse spell, but uh the counter counteract modifier would be against Pharasma.
SPEAKER_06So that's pretty difficult. Okay, Pops wants to pray for forgiveness.
SPEAKER_02Ari will be joining you with that.
SPEAKER_06Can I do a religion roll?
SPEAKER_02Sure.
SPEAKER_06Sweet. That's a natural two on dice. Plus religion 14 for a 16.
SPEAKER_05Your uh you fail, critically fail. Uh classic. Your visions continue into your waking hours as well. You see them in front of you. You take a minus two status penalty to all initiative and perception checks, as you are super distracted by uh your daydreams, your horrible, horrible nightmare daydreams.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Um can I do like a Sangpachi lore or should I do religion?
SPEAKER_05For to what end? What are you going for? She's doing the same thing. Try it.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So she's just like playing her instrument, trying to attune herself to her like true self and apologizing to Pharasma. That's gonna fail. It's uh 19 total from Pochi Lore.
SPEAKER_05Critical fail. Uh so same thing. Your nightmares continue into the real world to take a minus two to your initiatives and perception checks, as you're distracted by horrible, horrible day mares.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I can uh get cleanse affliction at fourth level. So use my other two, and I guess I'll try it once on each of them to cleanse affliction, which is an attempt to counteract the affliction if it's a curse, disease, or poison. So curse is on there. Um again, you said it's not gonna work, but this is what Gardas would try.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, absolutely. I mean, it's you guys are, you know, downtime sort of thing.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um and you said at a fourth level? Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Attempt to counteract the affliction if it's a curse, disease, or poison. So I still don't know how counteracts work, so I'm just gonna roll the dice. Uh this one is for pops, let's say. 17 on the dice. Again, I don't know. Do I just add my spell casting modifier? Yes. So that would be plus fourteen, which would be a 31. So 31 for pops, and then a 13 on a dice, plus 14, so that would be a 27 for Ari. Whatever that does.
SPEAKER_0537?
SPEAKER_0431, 27.
SPEAKER_05Uh, both of those are fails. So you would successfully counteract it if the target if it's uh if it is a rank lower than your effects counteract rank, and this effect is not lower than your counter uh counteract rank, so no effect.
SPEAKER_04Oh shit. This must be some uh big magic.
SPEAKER_06I am starting to think we have made a large mistake. That was my most powerful spell, and it didn't do shit.
SPEAKER_02Maybe we should take the bones back.
SPEAKER_06I think that's an excellent idea.
SPEAKER_04I mean, we already made them into effigies. We yeah.
SPEAKER_02I had no part in that. I didn't even have any part in taking the bones to begin with.
SPEAKER_03I tried to make an effug, but it didn't work good.
SPEAKER_04Fug. Yeah. I mean, I'll let you do whatever you want, but I don't think it'll help.
SPEAKER_02We have to return the bones. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Ari says we return bones.
SPEAKER_02Is it still nighttime?
SPEAKER_05I'm trying to so you guys had a down day and then you came back, and now it is nighttime on like the fifth day, and we just did all this stuff.
SPEAKER_04Like evening time. We tried to sleep it off and it did not work. Got worse. And then I try and then I prepared the remove curses, and that didn't work. And so now we're It's that day.
SPEAKER_05You cast those spells, it's that night.
SPEAKER_04So we still just kind of woke up.
SPEAKER_03This could like could still be that. Hey, do you guys remember if I asked if it was okay for us to be bad guys? No.
SPEAKER_02I think we've talked about it many times.
SPEAKER_03I think we found out it's not okay. Yes.
SPEAKER_05I think we still have um I mean, you guys could still be bad guys. You guys are choosing to be paralyzed by your doom value. That's true. There's also other things to do to be bad guys other than you know being undead and have and going and desecrating a bone yard.
SPEAKER_06Like there are other options. Yeah. Yeah. Not any good ones. But that one did sound like fun. Yeah, it did.
SPEAKER_04And I mean, personally, let's see. When we die and get wounded and stuff, we don't we don't die, we just get this soul degradation thing. We're not even tracking deaths. So, you know. Tomato tomato.
SPEAKER_06I I would also like to not be doomed for the rest of my for the rest of the month.
SPEAKER_04To to level twenty. Honestly, well, I think we're doomed for the rest of the month.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_04The rest of the time we're here. I don't think doing anything with the bones is gonna get rid of it. I'm not gonna say I won't argue with attacking.
SPEAKER_02I'm just trying to roleplay my character. No, I understand a terrible thing happened and clearly it had an effect. off of like immediate effect from you guys taking the bones. Yeah. And she feels terrible about it. And she's thinking it would make the most sense to apologize to the god that clearly is angry. And uh that didn't work. And maybe we could make it right. It's kind of like in her mind the situation with uh Hauntie and the baby. Like she haunted us, we desecrated that bone yard and then you guys put it back together and it was better.
SPEAKER_04Was it I think so right okay I'll try whatever but I don't think it's gonna do anything. As far as I'm concerned the damage is done but if you want to put these um uh what are they called back it was a bad word I got in trouble for saying it oh yeah twanas twana it still sounds funny um yeah if you want to put these twanas back in the ground we can do it okay don't forget shovel I never do anymore now that I have the bag of holding it just goes in there okay back to the graveyard Gardas is just whistling while he works uh you guys start heading up to the graveyard and you can see that there are like standing torches and candles going up there.
SPEAKER_05Uh there are clearly people up there. Oh shit.
SPEAKER_06You guys we might be in a pickle or a jam let's let's get a little closer and have a look um maybe you might want to stealth up yeah I'll I'll uh I'll go and scout it out.
SPEAKER_05Okay by yourself self check 19 on dice stealth nineteen for a 38 Wow 39 you uh not touching the ground at all float your way up there from tree to tree and you see again uh well you sneak to the outer edge of this graveyard and I can't really remember if you've seen these people or not but uh you see two women uh each of them clad in like these blue robes longbow on their back mace at their head I know Ari and Vox saw them earlier could just a couple days ago uh and they seem to be saying prayers over these graves. They seem to be sorting bones, erecting the tombstones back up, uh cleaning some of the graves that look like they haven't been desecrated, but cleaning them and honoring them nonetheless. And in the center of it all you do see something familiar a person clad in crimson robes, flowing robes, mask on, holding one of the torches of several that are lit around the area I want everyone to give me an intimidation check natural nineteen for a 35 natural 17 for a 17 four plus zero for four of a casper vibe on the dice uh a total of twenty and there yeah that's what you see you see probably about uh four or five people um whether they're in purple or red and then maybe two or three civilians as well all just up here kind of like working away. Uh it seems especially the the civilians in like regular clothes really dirty dirt on their face uh and it seems like they've been out here you know all day all night sort of thing working away.
SPEAKER_06Uh I go back they have no idea you're there.
SPEAKER_05I s I sneak back to the group turn Oh sorry you also get a waft of incense and it makes you lightheaded. Here we go. Uh yeah sure you know what I wasn't gonna make you roll but I like this so uh you grabbed your dice you wanted to roll give me a fortitude save. That's a two on dice plus fortitude 18 for a dirty twenty that is a standard fail you are second two sick and two and lightheaded as uh these uh incense fumes go straight to the noggin. Sickened for those of you that don't know take a status penalty equal to the value on all checks and DCs you can't willingly ingest anything. You can spend an action wretching to attempt a forty to save against the DC of the sickening effect. But I don't know if you want to do that now while you're within earshot of these people. Probably not everybody is just hearing this you can start feeling better pretty quickly once you distance yourself from these smells okay yeah I sneak back to the party and make a report.
SPEAKER_06So you all have that information now looks like they're kinda doing our job for us right I don't know if that's how it works.
SPEAKER_02Oh who do you guys think these people are I think they work for the fortress.
SPEAKER_06That means we can fight them they have these torches they make me feel so sick.
SPEAKER_04Well I think at least that red robed one does because you guys ran into him the other day too and a blue robed one.
SPEAKER_05Oh you weren't listening again just for you guys and mostly for our listeners you guys would remember the people in red robes from the exorcism earlier on in Willowshore when the paper uh cloud paper house burned down uh and we had those phases you had 10 minutes and Kyle got really frustrated that he couldn't spend 30 between each fight like he normally likes to do um you guys saw these people kind of like popping in and out of reality and Gardness is like why isn't my scene visibility doing anything that was before you guys knew you were in a mindscape right um it these people were trying to exercise you in Willow Shore um they had the four golden eyes the flowing robes and it looked like they were just kind of eating reality with them.
SPEAKER_06That is where you recognize these people from so we kinda so we beat them before we can beat them again I don't know if I'm in much of a position to make any decisions anymore.
SPEAKER_03I don't want to get close to those fumes fumes okay well let's at least set town on fire when we go back I like where his head's at her head's at um yeah well maybe while they're down here we can go up to town and do something.
SPEAKER_04Yes like stash these effigies in places I thought we were going to put those back oh I th uh I said earlier that they look like they've doing the job for us and I thought that was it.
SPEAKER_02Do you think maybe we should leave the effigies here in the trees it might scare them and then they could put it back and we can come back and apologize later. Okay fine we can once it's all done because I don't think they're going to leave till it's done.
SPEAKER_04If that's what you want to do let's let's how about this we put them at least in the path that they'll have to walk back to back to town. I like that at least at least we do that. Okay. And then I'll light some incense as well alright so the so yeah we're gonna hang up the effigies like we'll look at what we think their path going back to town will be. It's pretty obvious and yeah and like hang up just one path right like hang up the effigies the twanas on in trees or something along the path so it's obvious for them to see them as we kind of go to the outskirts of town yeah yeah what do we want to do it while we're here now just or light it on fire do we have any more do we have any more invisibilities?
SPEAKER_03Not me. Yeah I have three do you have invisibilities Pops no but I can fly I can fly too and you're sneaky sneaky pops sneaky flyer did that sick and two go away?
SPEAKER_04Yes I don't know yeah I don't know what else to do unless we just want to like go in the fort or something at one of the least guarded places.
SPEAKER_03We could start probing the defenses we know at least one of the incense ladies out or incense lady man.
SPEAKER_04Right exactly so so the the tiger gate is the least guarded one I think or the most guarded one where like people go in and out so we should probably either go to the and sort of the the lumber storage was on the east side so maybe if we go to the north gate it won't be heavily guarded. Question mark? Okay let's try it all right so we want to sneak around town the outskirts of town before going into town get to the north side and then do we want to fly in or do we want to try and sneak in?
SPEAKER_06We should save our fly for our escape that's kind of what I was thinking.
SPEAKER_05Yeah so I guess sneak sneak sneak in team sneak sneaking into the fortress?
SPEAKER_04No this is sneaking in from the outside of town like going not necessary.
SPEAKER_05There's people aren't guarding there aren't guard patrols like around town at this hour of night.
SPEAKER_04Okay so we want to sneak up to the northern gate and see what's there I guess. Okay.
SPEAKER_05So you guys go past all the buildings the you know the slums that are falling apart scare cat and runs off in the distance it's still raining and it's covering what noise you do make until you get to that northern gate and you realize you're gonna have to be super selfie as you see people patrolling in the upper rings that circumvents the Karahai fortress.
SPEAKER_03And we're going to be a lot of Did I tell everybody about uh that I was looking at the AI thing for our show that was last and I was hoping you would do it again because Jeff wasn't here for that okay so when we got together I had spent a little time asking like the Google AI about our show. Yeah and it was like oh it's a live play Pathfinder series and I was like can you describe the sense of humor because it was it gives you a list of things that it can tell you about the show right now it was like yeah describe the sense of humor it's like it's deeply controversial sense of humor. And I was like okay and then it was like it gave me some more options for breakdowns I was like yeah tell me about the characters and it said standout characters are Gardas at number one was our top guy uh red violet and then Jeff so Jeff I'm a character you made the that was that was the four favorite things yeah those are the four they listed Gardas Red Violet Jeff it's been in a trip all along so who actually plays Gardas is the real or Jeff is the real Mr.
SPEAKER_05People are going to be shocked when they find out we have uh fifth player AI at the table.
SPEAKER_04Well the question is is it Jeff playing Gardas or is it Gardas playing Jeff?
SPEAKER_02Someone playing Jeff who's pretending to be a person playing Gardas I'm a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude I was just thinking so three Kovolds and a transfer Robert Downey Jr.
SPEAKER_05I would fire Jeff so fast for Robert Downey Jr.
SPEAKER_04Jeff doesn't exist though we gotta roll the table for a bit of character yeah do some casting was that good for a soundcheck were you watching Tony's making noises for some reason don't tell me what to do I run the shit it's got tippy taps um yeah we're good on soundcheck stop you're being annoying he's got the zoomies and guard us do you want a five hour energy drink?
SPEAKER_05No we'll kick it up a notch I was actually feeling kind of tired so I had a Diet Coke and I'm like that wasn't enough so I had a little bit of vodka and I'm feeling better.
SPEAKER_04Diet Coke was there Red Bull in the vodka because that would kick it up a notch I had a Diet Coke chaser so there's more caffeine there. That's fair. Five hour energy drink has 200 milligrams the Alani has 200 milligrams and I'm splitting it in two so by the end of the night I'm gonna be rocking 400 milligrams of caffeine within a couple hours cherry like I just like I don't handle it well. That's part of the point like I want to be cherry I want to feel there there is a level to where it like kicks it up and it's like yeah I'm in the fucking zone but that zone is definitely a notch above where my energy normally would be I have to do it at work too I supplement work with so much caffeine.
SPEAKER_02Every time I see you you're just like drinking sugary caffeinated beverages I have to I can't be charge I can't be charge nurse without it.
SPEAKER_06If Jeff's insides aren't actively shaking he doesn't feel right can't perform it might calm you down if you don't have so much caffeine all the time are we wanting to calm down yeah is that the point it might not be so terrible what's terrible how many how long have we been recording for what's the time at uh three minutes and ten seconds outro banner yeah
