This is gonna school. We're going back old school. Uh because unfortunately, we do not have our producer, editor, or anything. Mr. Toomy here, he's currently off um spending time with his family, which is actually quite disrespectful. Welcome back to the NSAC podcast, the number one trading podcast in Australia. JP, hold up, let me do the can cracking. Hell yeah. Oh, it's a Celsius today because that's all we have, and it's late at night. I've had two and I don't feel like having another monster or anything. So um this is my third for today. Third Celsius.
SPEAKER_01No, no, oh kinda. I had uh I bought little the little blue V's because some of the boys were going on about the V being the best, and I had a little green one once, and it wasn't that good. So I tried the blue one, it was pre-shit, but I was like, I'll get rid of them today. So I had one at 5 a.m. And then I had one at uh 1 p.m. or 1 30 p.m. and now I'm having one at seven.
SPEAKER_00See, that's a that's a good distance though. Yeah, it's good space out. It's a good good space out. I've I had one a monster at one and then another one at three. See, that's just you trying to get up from the crash of the bucket. No, I I didn't even have a crash. I didn't like I just had one. I always have one when I go to the gym.
SPEAKER_01It's like my No wonder you don't do pre-workout.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's my routine.
SPEAKER_01That's why I got you this. I'll go last this.
SPEAKER_00I do need to try that. I'm actually excited to try to. I'm kind of scared that it's gonna send me through the roof, though. Oh, it might, but hate it. Every time I take pre-workout, I end up scratching my bunghole and I don't like it.
SPEAKER_01Maybe you don't scratch your bum. Okay. Scratch your face and make your face itchy or something instead. That's probably the number one go-to. But um, well, I guess when we get into the episode, Staff, hold up the green thing. Oh supplement Mart, obviously our sponsor of the podcast. We have a code which is Intersect 10. Intersect 10. So when you go to supplement Mart, supplement Mart, oh god, it's hard to say. I'm just gonna say supp Mart from now on, but that's what I'm referencing. Uh, when you go to order and you've got a discount code, intersect 10. How do you spell that, Steph?
SPEAKER_00I-N-T-E-R-S-E-C-T 10, all capitals. Smooth. Yep.
SPEAKER_01Um, type that in your little discount bar down there, and boom. 10% off?
SPEAKER_0010% off.
SPEAKER_0110% off. Shade eyewear. We're also sponsored by. So what's our code for shade eyewear? Is it the same? Intersect 15.
SPEAKER_00Is it actually? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Why is it 15?
SPEAKER_00It was it was 10, but then uh it changed because yeah, there's a whole story there.
SPEAKER_01But it's intersect 15. And how much do you get off?
SPEAKER_0010%.
SPEAKER_01Why is it called intersect 15? All capitals one five at the end. Yep. But yeah, so if you ever want some high quality uh shades, they have safety, non-safety, polarized, non-polarized. They have green sets rather nice.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I would love a green set. Jump in. Question of the week this week is a cheer banger. Which is what is the biggest mistake you made as an apprentice and what did it teach you?
SPEAKER_01What is what is yours? How many mistakes would you say you have made? Plenty. Because oh, you actually went straight for it. I was generally gonna say, I'm I have heard you doing a couple callbacks recently.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I've met even now. Yeah, I mean, you're not no one's perfect. Shit, I am. You are absolutely uh perfect. I know these it just like bro, you're all human. You're always you're all gonna make uh mistakes, uh it just comes down to if you're gonna own up to them or not.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, my I had to do a scorecard review of myself at my business at my where I'm working at the moment. Like a valuation of yourself, self-eval. How did that go? Great, I am perfect. The other problem is the options were either 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%. And I was like, damn, something like about reworks or something. Like, you know, you send out a job and it comes back for reworks.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I said, 100%. I said, I no reworks. That shit costs cartons. Because at the old workshop, you get stuck for a carton if something comes back. And like there were so many things like what how do you think you go in this area, or handovers, or like getting jobs and stuff done on time? And I said, Look, pretty good. I'd say like 95%, but you know, some jobs blow out, or some jobs you start late and has to be handed over. That's just how it works, especially at a company that works 24 hours. But yeah, back to the question at hand. Get into it. What's the biggest mistake?
SPEAKER_00Or the first, or I think my biggest mistake. Oh, I don't know. I have a lot. Do you have one in mind?
SPEAKER_01I'm thinking of the first big mistake I had was back when I first started. I was first year, I was probably there for fairly a couple months, and I pulled apart, I was working on a little excavator, a little digger, and the hydraulic motor needed replacing. So pulled it all out, and it has like heaps of lines to it, capped everything, got the new motor, put it all in, changed the fittings and blah blah blah. Capped it all and like put it all back together. Ran fine, sweet, went away. And like a week later it came back because one of the functions wasn't quite working, and some things were dicky, and like a little baby blue cap, which I had put in the lines instead of putting it over the lines. So I put the cap inside the hose instead of over it. One of them was left in, which got sucked through and chewed through the system. And so you just had to like drain the fluid and like use the little foam pellet guns to shoot through a couple of the lines to clean it out. But it ended up costing us, I think, almost a thousand dollars to fix. Which wasn't that bad.
SPEAKER_00It's not too bad.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, and that's probably one of the biggest ones I think of.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't think like I've done there's a lot of small jobs that I've fucked up. I don't think um, I don't think I've done like massive, you know. There was one, and this wasn't even when I was an apprentice. This was when I was trade, I I traded out, and I got through so with floor laying, there's gripper, it's timber that goes around the edge where the carpet tucks into. You gotta go around with a hammer, smash those into the concrete or all or the into the timber timber subfloor. I went around and I went through four rooms, a lounge room, and a main bedroom without hitting the skirting once. And that was like the biggest thing. Like, you often don't start doing that until like you know, second year or third year when you start getting more comfortable with uh with a thing. And I had I was went through all these rooms, didn't hit the wall once, didn't hit the skirting once. I was like, fuck yeah, I mastered this shit. Got into the last wall, the last wall. I hit the skirting so hard that it sent all the skirting around the whole room off. It broke it all off. Just all of it. Not in all the rooms, just in that in that one room. Damn, done. I hit it that hard.
SPEAKER_01Who do you think you are? The Hulk was brother. Brother, you Bruce Lee just hit the fucking pinch points. Boom! Bro, I fucking one inch punch that bitch.
SPEAKER_00Launched it, launched it so hard that the whole wall uh of skirting came off. And then you could see, I don't think it was tacked on, honestly, that well. But that was probably the biggest mistake and most expensive mistake. It wasn't too much to fix, but um, I've recently, yeah, like you were saying before, I've recently had a few where I chipped a tile while pulling up um old gripper, and then I also pro there's one that you came to. I've been back to that house like five times. That's tweak of the week, that motherfucker, because that's not even like my work, that's shit that they've changed after the install has been done, but ex but uses it as a this is wrong.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, look, let's bullshit not get into that. That's that's a hurting area. What is what is then like one mistake you've seen some other apprentice make or someone else make?
SPEAKER_00Surely you've seen some fucking. I've seen someone lay a full house about 180 square meters of the wrong plank. So then they had they had to pull up the whole house, they had to grind and prep the floor again because it had glue all over it, obviously, and then relay. Because they laid the wrong plank, but they also laid it in the wrong direction.
SPEAKER_01Damn.
SPEAKER_00So everything was wrong. So I was like, yo, bro, I'm glad that's not me, bruh. Cause that would how long that take? Well, 180 squares would normally take you about five days with with prep. Um, so about two weeks.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, it would have been tweaking.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. That would that shit would honestly break me, I think.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, look, uh yeah. I've definitely seen my fair share of fuck-ups. It's always a good laugh. There was actually an incident that happened not too long ago that no name should be named or anything, but somehow something went wrong. A certain differential didn't get full of oil, and a certain uh diff then locked up, collapsed, shockloaded, snapped the gearbox in half, fucked most of the truck. Yeah, and we're I think that um was uh a fuck up and a half, I would say.
SPEAKER_00How much would a diff cost? Just the diff? Yeah, not that much. So then how much would the whole repair cost?
SPEAKER_01Oh, probably close to 120 grand, maybe more.
SPEAKER_00Big semis, right? Big quads. I mean, it's a lot of money there, so yeah.
SPEAKER_01I've also Damn, there's been a fair few fuck-ups I've seen. Not even like like, you know, maybe not even apprentices, but like just people that are like driving the equipment or owners or something. You know, these people like, hey, my drum roller wasn't rolling, something's wrong in the roll apart. So I'm got told the front hydraulics, sick. We'll get it done. Get out there. The back wheel is on a 45 degree angle. I said, brother.
SPEAKER_00Like that, what's what what's that, the camber of the tires? Bro went opposite.
SPEAKER_01Only one.
SPEAKER_00So it was like that.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, hell yeah, fucked. Yeah, jacked it up and there was no wheel bearing left. It was just metal and metal. And then uh all the planetaries got jammed up because it disintegrated itself. I had to spend a good couple hours oxy cutting it all out and then just putting it semi-back together just enough to hold it so it can drive up onto a tow truck.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, there's there's been uh so many fuckers. But I mean, look, you're an apprentice, you make mistakes, you learn, you do that.
SPEAKER_01But I think as long as you learn, yeah, that's one thing that tweaks me. Yeah, people that make the same mistake and they just keep doing it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, I mean, if you're if you're getting to a point where, like, say you're in your your second or third year and they're still making the mistakes of a first year, like you then have to throw in a little bit of tough love and be like, yo, or what the hell is going on, you stupid cunt.
SPEAKER_01Look, in my self self-evaluation, I put in there because it was something about like, you know, working in teams, emotional, like uh, emotional intelligence and this and that, and how dealing with other people. And I said, Look, my emotional challenge intelligence, my God, is that my emotional intelligence is at like a one out of five. I say it how it is. That's how it is work. Yeah, that's just how it is. I was like, I'm not gonna hurt your feelings, but I'm also not gonna tell you good job when you fuck up.
SPEAKER_00But would you tell them good job if they did a good job?
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. I don't see like if it's impressive, if they just do it like the normal time will take, you know.
SPEAKER_00But why does it have to be impressive in order to be uh done a good job? Because that's uh excellence, that's what you strive for.
SPEAKER_01A lot of people coast. Coasting is just average. Why should you be praised for coasting?
SPEAKER_00Why should you be praised for uh just doing the normal thing? Exactly, you shouldn't. Like, why shouldn't you be praised for it? You should be. That's the normal thing. It is not like you you're the so you're the paid are you getting paid more to do excellent work?
SPEAKER_01You're the perticipation trophy man, whereas I'm a one, two, and three trophy man.
SPEAKER_00No, because I do like doing good work. Yes. I'm just playing the devil's advocate here. Yeah, I think you're getting paid more to do excellent work. Negative.
SPEAKER_01No, but you're getting more like better work because you are better at the work.
SPEAKER_00No, you're getting the same work.
SPEAKER_01No. What? Motherfucker.
SPEAKER_00If you're you're doing excellent work and this the other dude is doing the same amount of work, the same job, you're just doing it quicker. Doing it better, quicker, yeah. But how can you do it better if it's the exact same job? Right?
SPEAKER_01So if uh like for example, it's called efficiency, that's what I strive for.
SPEAKER_00So faster. Efficiency, which is faster.
SPEAKER_01It is well to a degree. You're faster with no mistakes.
SPEAKER_00Faster just means So it's faster. Thank you, JP.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Faster just makes it sound like you do fucking shit up at the same time.
SPEAKER_00If it's exactly the same job that ends exactly the same time. Oh not time. Um like the end result is the same, except you do it two hours quicker. I don't think there's that's not excellence. I don't think. Why didn't he sound like a horse? I was about to say, is he galloping? Broski, do you have to? I don't know. That's just that's just uh my opinion. I think people like that are just people that want to suck the boss's dick. If if they're on an hourly rate, if you're a subcontractor, then I understand because I'm the same. I will go into a job, I will do it, try and do it as quick as I can, the best I can, and then I'm I don't have to go back.
SPEAKER_01And what would you do if you're on ourley? Take your time.
SPEAKER_00Well, I wouldn't be rushing, that's for sure. So you would take your time. I wouldn't take my time, I'll just do it the same as I I wouldn't go out of my way to like rush.
SPEAKER_01Bro, didn't you see that? That cat was gonna kill me. There you go.
SPEAKER_00You lucky motherfucker.
SPEAKER_01We're almost done. All right, we'll gotta get out of question today.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so that question of the week, I do want to shout out to Eddie Um Voss. That man saved me when it comes to a job because I had to pull some skirting off. And if I didn't pull the skirt, if I pulled the skirting off, I damaged the wall, he's a painter. I reached out to him, he said, hell yeah, fucking oh. So if you need some painting done, buy this absolute weapon. His wet his uh business is called Ed's Painting Service, um, and he's good price too.
SPEAKER_01So all right now, you guys, this has already happened for the people watching it, but can we jump into the fact that the fuel tax is coming back? I kind of didn't realize it was gone. I understand they made the fuel cheaper and it's slowly been getting cheaper again, but I didn't realise that all of a sudden, as of tomorrow, like the fuel's gonna jump up by like 15 or 20 cents.
SPEAKER_00It's not too bad. Yeah, no, but that's back to not as bad as what it was. That's back to $2. Still not fucking $3, whatever the fuck it was. That's fucking bullshit.
SPEAKER_01Because it's not as bad.
SPEAKER_00I know. I'm just saying, I'm just saying, like, it's not three dollars. Still, two dollars is fucked. It's shitty ass. That is criminal, but at least it's not three dollars.
SPEAKER_01Every man and his dog have been filling up today. That's why there were so many people. Servos are packed, hey?
SPEAKER_00I said that's why there were so many people at the servos.
SPEAKER_01I literally on the way home, I went past one and I was like, yep, there's people lining up. Like after this, I've actually got to go fuel up because I also gotta grab dinner because I don't actually have it.
SPEAKER_00That's sheep mentality.
SPEAKER_01What? Fueling up?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, just before the price uh goes up. You're gonna have to fuel up when the price is up anyway, so who cares? Yeah, no, but I have to fill up like No, no, I'm not saying you, I'm saying like everyone.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. The difference is for me, I gotta do like 150 litres. I'll fuel up like once every two months.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. If I'm not going to Perth or something, and if there's people out there fueling up all your jerry cans to be a fucking piece of shit, don't, bro. Bro, fucking don't.
SPEAKER_01You're a part of the problem. Can I just say if you save 10 cents per litre, which is pretty good? 10 cents per litre, you still have to buy 10 litres.
SPEAKER_00Doug. There's a wild Doug right there, and he's literally fucking touch anything. Is where the camera and laptop is.
SPEAKER_01We need a to me. You need to fend off the Doug. Doug. If you save 10 cents a litre, right? Which you're filling up all your jerrycans before the fuel goes up 10 cents, right? You would have to 10 liters, you save $1. Jerry can holds 20, so you save $2 out of that whole jerry can. If you're filling up a couple jerry cans, I can guarantee you most people are gonna forget about them. Fuel's gonna go stale, it's not gonna be as good. Just wasting time.
SPEAKER_00Well, that was exactly the same as the when the cyclone hit. Everyone, every man and their fucking dog went out and bought a jerry can. There was not a jerry can in sight. Guess how many people have jerry uh have uh not Jerry, did I say jerry cans? Every man and his dog went out and bought a fucking generator. Oh, yes, yes, sorry. Guess how many generators are sitting in sheds that haven't been used? All for sale. Or yeah, all for sale.
SPEAKER_01How about oh like when the fuel crisis first started, everyone started filling up pods and 240 205s? Full-blown fucking semis.
SPEAKER_00Stupid, ridiculous, and then there was a fuel a fuel shortage because uh the all the farmers couldn't get fucking fuel and shit.
SPEAKER_01And the reason there was a shortage because everyone was buying the fuel to stockpile.
SPEAKER_00No, you can't leave dumb, fucking dumb, stopping a sheep. You scratched my nose.
SPEAKER_01Oh, he's falling.
SPEAKER_00No, look at this guy. Who is this guy?
SPEAKER_01Um, yeah, it was like everyone was concerned about running out of fuel and oh my god, what are we gonna do? Meanwhile, when I was at work, every 12 hours we have a hundred trucks burning a thousand liters of diesel. Yeah, that's that's oh my god, do the math right there. That's a lot of fuel within 24 hours. My name is Doug, and I am a cat. I am a rap cat.
SPEAKER_00You done is brusky done? Uh maybe. Well let's just oh okay. Well, there's gonna be something there.
SPEAKER_01One million dollars.
SPEAKER_00Um, I I do want to talk about something though. I want to talk about the fact that um we don't often talk about the like the good tradies. Right? We often talk about like the negative uh when it comes to the trades. We talk about um why people struggle to get into trades, what happens when you're in there with arsehole bosses. But what about the good bosses?
SPEAKER_01I've had good bosses, which has made a hell of a world of difference.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I feel like it would be easier to deal with, it would be it would make the apprenticeship go quicker, it would be it works well. You know, I read something, uh, one of our comments today that somewhere, somewhere, I can't remember what the fuck it was, but it was like um they should implement if a tradee when a trade becomes um qualified qualified, they should implement like if you're gonna have your own business, you need to do another course on how to be a boss.
SPEAKER_01If you're gonna employ people, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, if you're gonna have people, if you're gonna have apprentices, if you're gonna because there's too many people that got uh did their apprenticeship and you know went through four years of like abuse from fucking absolute assholes, um, all that type of shit, and then took that and m had their own uh uh their own business to then keep doing that same thing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, right. No change in the system.
SPEAKER_00No, yeah, there was no change in the system. But then there's been people that that's a reflection of character though, isn't it? Because it's like 100%.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yep, 100% it is, but they don't want to change that. There's no changing it. It's like it's my way or highway.
SPEAKER_01Course fix that.
SPEAKER_00Well, the course would be like, this is how you respect. Well, I don't know what the course is like, but I would say this is how you respect someone, this is how you teach someone, this is how you do the right thing.
SPEAKER_01And do you think there would be a change? Because I feel like it would be like oh, it's a mandatory thing from the thing.
SPEAKER_00I don't think there'd be a change, to be honest. I think I think it like it's good in theory, it's a good idea. In all honesty, it comes down to personality, I think. Like that's why I want to give a shout out to like all the good bosses out there that actually take the time and learn because tag your good.
SPEAKER_01Boss below.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I would love to get in contact. I want to hear some stories.
SPEAKER_00We need to we need to make this a regular thing. Like wholesome Wednesdays. Wholesome Wednesdays. There you go. WW. WW. Yeah. Wholesome Wednesdays. Take your good boss or send this to your boss and tell him he's a cunt. Damn. In a good way.
SPEAKER_01Now I'm going to get into the good bosses and the good good apprentices. More specifically at the moment, good work experience kids. Ooh, we don't hear about it. Because recently, the last couple days, we've had uh some work experience kids coming through. And I was like, oh yeah, this is how we're going. There's one, he's uh he's not very motivated, and it doesn't get up to much. And I'm trying to get some stuff out of him, and there's no like just kind of mopes around.
SPEAKER_00Did you have to give him the barracuda?
SPEAKER_01What?
SPEAKER_00The barracuda.
SPEAKER_01What's the barrac? No, I just what the fuck? I didn't even get close to him. But look, I'll like you know, all poke and prod, give him give some questions, see how much he wants to learn. Like, I'll quiz him straight up. I'd be like, yo, how's this work?
SPEAKER_00A work experience kid.
SPEAKER_01Wait, how old? Um, so there's a couple at moment, but I'd say ranges from 6, 15 to 17 ish.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I'm I'm I'm a work experience kid. Ask me a question that you would ask them.
SPEAKER_01Well, no, first of all, it depends what we're doing.
SPEAKER_00Okay, we're doing, give me a scenario.
SPEAKER_01Um, for example, we had to change out a hub on a trailer because it got full of bat oh full of water and needed to be changed.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_01And I said to him, like, you know, it was jacked up, remove the tires. Well, I got them to do it, and I said, Oh yeah. You remove the tires? Yeah. Fire. And I said, How's this working? Because he's like, Oh yeah. He's like, What are we gonna do now? And I was like, before I even start, how much do you know? You know, I know a bit.
SPEAKER_00Boom. Okay, that's confidence from a work experience, kid. So if you can't back up, uh I I know a little bit.
SPEAKER_01Or even if they're like, oh, you know, I might, because they've been there a couple days or like been there a week or whatever. I said, Boom, tell me how this works. So tell me how what works. Looking at the hub, it's got a hub there, it's got the brakes, it's got you know, all that crap in suspension. How's it work? Tell me how it works.
SPEAKER_00What answer do you expect? Because I think I would explain it.
SPEAKER_01I don't expect any answer. I just want to gauge how much you know, gauge what I have to teach, or gauge what needs to change. Gauge how much you need to explain to the it just kind of sets of like, all right, I need to know where they're at because there's no point explaining this if they're there, and there's no point explaining that if they're there.
SPEAKER_00So then how would you explain that situation? What do you mean explain like like your your question that you asked, how would you explain that? Because in my head, I'm like, I actually don't know how to explain that.
SPEAKER_01Well, I first of all he said he was confident, or like, you know, he knows a bit. So I got him to ask him. I was like, he was like, yep, this is the hub. This is the, you know, he calls this the rotor, this is where the brakes go, this is how that works. It's air built, that's the booster bit, like you know, gave me a rough thing, and I was like, cool, that's pretty spot on. Yeah, there's bearings in here, that's how it works, there's tapers, that's what they roll on, blah blah blah. We went, I said, look, this is the booster, and I was like, why do we use air? I was like, easy pressure because it's easy to build it up and don't have to worry about leaks, hydraulics, all that crap. It's all easier. And I was like, why do we do? I was like, cool. This is actually called the caliper, and this part is the rotor on the hub, this part is removal, we can change this. And I was like, all right, what we're gonna do, you either have to do this, this, take the booster off, then we'll take this off, take this off. Half figure it out. Yeah, I'm I personally like it best if you let the whoever try, do it a bit by themselves and just give them a bit of guidance, or like even put down you'll need these tools, figure it out. And then if they can or they can't, like you know, like give them a hand.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, I would almost say that's the best way to do it, I think.
SPEAKER_01Like that's all based on their motivation, their character. Like, if they don't want to do it or they like lazy in this, shows immediately. You can gauge instantly. But if they're interested and keen, boom. The asking questions, they'll be like, oh yo, find out if they're just gonna fuck something up or try ask. If they ask, perfect. Or like, you know, you'll give them a bar to undo a really tight bolt, give them a medium bar. See what they do. Oh, it's too tight. What can I do? Or if they go, hey, do you have a bigger bar or a rattle gun? Or can I do this? Or is there a better way? Boom, perfect. Set them up to be able to ask a question or fuck something up, but step in when you need to. Or like, you know, can get it done.
SPEAKER_00With a lot of that, just not the medium bar bit because you're setting them up to failure. If they're a work experience kid test, if they're a work experience kid.
SPEAKER_01Well, he was he's I would say he's definitely on his track, like on the right path. Yeah, like he could explain. I'd say he knew 90% of what was going on. I mean it's very, very simple stuff.
SPEAKER_00But but if you if like if you're giving someone a tool where you know that it should be a bigger one, you're just setting them up to failure. Yeah. That I don't think that's a test. I don't I I understand the test. Instead of giving them the tool and them going, oh, this must be the right tool. But I also hit me outright, I use the medium bar. Yeah, but you're also fucking 30 years old.
SPEAKER_01Exactly.
SPEAKER_00So you're gonna have more strength than a 16-year-old. It's not my fault. Unless the the 16-year-old.
SPEAKER_01I will not, I will shout this. I forgot his name. I can't remember his name, but holy fuck, one of these work experience kids is torched. Brother, he'd been eating the magic beans from the fucking beanstalk. I call him Jack. Or beans. I'm like, holy fuck from Jack and the Beanstalk. Yeah, yeah. My god! That's fucking funny. He is what is he? He's 16? No, yeah, 15. Well, how old do you have to be to get your moped license? 16? 16?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So he's 16 or just turned 16. You're right. He is 6'3.
SPEAKER_00I was gonna say, if you say over six foot, that's fucked. 6'3 or 6'3?
SPEAKER_01Or like 6'4?
SPEAKER_00Hear me out. So roughly my height.
SPEAKER_01Like 120, 130 keggers. Holy shit! Dwarfs, people! And I was like, that's why I call them fucking beans or jacking the fucking beans too. This man.
SPEAKER_00Bro, that is that is a big fucking sixteen year old.
SPEAKER_01Six walking around dwarf in the beginning.
SPEAKER_00Alright, alright. I want one of these egotistical fuckwits to call out this dude, right? They're gonna get flat. Brother. Holy shit. That's a big motherfucker, man.
SPEAKER_01Bro, so funny. And then the other two were experienced kids are like, Scorney. Bro, that's a big cunt.
SPEAKER_00Holy shit. It's cute. 6'4, 120 kegs at 16 is fucking wild. What is what do you eat, brother? Magic beans. What did your mum and dad eat? Holy shit. That's fucking next level, man. Oh, it's amazing. I wonder if he goes to the gym.
SPEAKER_01Nah.
SPEAKER_00He fucking needs to.
SPEAKER_01Bro, you can only get in at like oh, can you get in at 16 by yourself? No, you can, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you can't get in younger than that. That's fucking wild. Yeah, means you unit. Yeah, I there's I think it there comes a point where it's like you can tell if there's an apprentice that wants to learn. And you can tell when there's an apprentice that that like wants to learn and is eager to learn, but just doesn't know.
SPEAKER_01I asked like another question I asked. Like, I was I'd like, yo, why do you want to be a mechanic? What do you why? Good answer of look, I've been playing, you know, fiddling with engines or whatever, or something to look up to, or this or that. And I was like, I'm really interested in how it all works. Like, this is cool. Um, I've like, you know, I would love to build engines that go into this area. Bad answer that I got. It looks cool. That was it. Sat there.
SPEAKER_00I was like so you you can kind of tell when there's an apprentice that wants to be there versus or work experience apprentice, yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I think there's if guided by the right person, I think there's like any person can enjoy the job at hand. It's just hard to it's a little bit harder to guide that that said person into like, oh, it looks cool. Okay, why does it look cool? Like, what drew you into being a mechanic? It's like floor layers. No one wants to be a fucking floor layer. How do you how'd you get into that trait? I fell into it. I literally fell on the floor. I was like, oh, these look cool. But there's yeah, there is there's a time and place to be a fucking arsehole. I don't think I think that shit needs to stop. Um, but the tough love and the guidance and all that type of stuff needs to stay. It needs to be more prominent, I think, when it comes to an apprentice.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, shout out to all the good bosses out there that do the right thing um and just being absolute fucking uh weapons because the world needs more people like you guys, and apprentices need to be shown that they're not just a number, they're they're a person.
SPEAKER_01And apprentices. Get some motivation behind you.
SPEAKER_00Get some motivation.
SPEAKER_01Figure out what you want to do because most people start too young to know what they really want to do, so they do something then don't know.
SPEAKER_00Well, these these bosses are painting not these bosses. Majority of the people that are commenting on my videos are painting every apprentice to be the same. They're just useless, they're not motivated, they're this, that, like you have to fucking give them a kick up the ass to, you know, which is probably true, but it also doesn't help if you're being a fucking cunt. So stop being a cunt. Apprentices get some oomph behind you and show that you want to be there. Doesn't work if only one side's working. You both gotta work together. It's a mutual respect, which is what I've been saying for so long. You gotta dock. Dock with your boss and see what happens.
SPEAKER_01We had to explain docking to someone the other day. Oh. At workers, funny ass.
SPEAKER_00How do you explain docking?
SPEAKER_01Let's not get into that.
SPEAKER_00Let's get into that.
SPEAKER_01Nah. So what you do is that you You ever heard of a Starburst, mate? Ew. Don't do you have heard of this. Oh my god, of course. Ew. Can't no.
SPEAKER_00There'd be so many that are like this. Go explain to them what a Starburst is.
SPEAKER_01No, not do that.
SPEAKER_00You know what? I got asked a question at the gym uh today by guess who? Chris. Yes. And you and you know what? You know what he asked me? He goes, I thought it was a trick question, but it's not. So you do have to answer. There is an answer to it. If a dog right, just listen. All right? If a dog in a pie cost ran in a race, like around the the dog race, which one would win? The dog. Why?
SPEAKER_01Because it's worth more than five dollars fifty.
SPEAKER_00My man, my man, that was up. I know exactly what that is, bro. Tristan uh uh asked me that question. I asked him that, and he goes, What does that question mean? What you what does it mean? A pie cost dick in my ass or something?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, bro.
SPEAKER_00I was like, you're a fucking idiot. Right. I hope you guys get to meet Chris and Isaac because we're gonna get them on. Yeah, they're fucking top.
SPEAKER_01Maybe we do that for our our next next half half a yeah, that'd be funny. I'd love that. One on this side, one on that side. Yeah, maybe Isaac just on that side.
SPEAKER_00You'll get the reference. You'll get the reference. This dude will take up the whole span of this fucking camera lens. No, they're fucking good quality. Good quality lads. Yeah. Tweak of the week, though. What is yours? Do you have one? Has anything pissed you off this week?
SPEAKER_01Oh, I tried to buy a car for parts because it was a good price. Not gonna get into that part, but you know, patrols and bobs. It was just for parts. And um, trying to line it up for times this that first guy in line two days later, sorted, getting ready. I've decided to keep it. I will stab you.
SPEAKER_00I will fucking ruin you, bitch.
SPEAKER_01Oh bro, that tweaked me. Um first of all, because it was good, I would have made I would have got a bunch of crap off it, which was worth like a lot of money, and then sold the rest for even more money than what it was worth.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And now I got nothing.
SPEAKER_00I think my tweak of the week would be um customers changing their mind after the job is done, but telling you that it's wrong. So, like, f uh uh for example, there's a house that I've been back to five times, it's an insurance job, not gonna go into too much detail. I finished the job, they then didn't like what the job looked like because it was hybrid, it needs like a 15 mil or 10 mil gap around the edge so it can expand and retract. They didn't like the fact that around the all the bench tops there was like this this little gap. They wanted it to be like perfect, which is fair. But you should have told me that when I was installing the floor. I even told you everywhere in this house there's gonna be a 10 mil gap everywhere. Okay, cool, no worries. You know, I go back there, I fix it up, I then go back there again because I don't like uh uh how the job has finished. I then go back there again to pull up more planks, undercut shit, put like redo half not half the floor, but uh part of the floor and put it back down to then get a callback again. Because this bloke has taken like fucking uh silicon out of the doorways, because with hybrid you need to silicon around the ar the architraves so it can still expand it and retract. He's taken it out and the plank must have been like slightly loose, um, and some silicon has gone out into the crack. So then when you try and push the crack the fucking planks back together, it doesn't want to go back, it just bounces back because of the silicon. My fault. Hey man, how about you just don't touch the fucking floor? It actually pisses me off so much. That is that is tweakifying. Other than that, we have been absolutely fucking fantastic. Thank you so much. This is gonna be the end of episode 94. Holy fucking shit. We're on a roll. 100 is close, man. 100 is close, and we are in the works for some big milefucking things.
