Emily Feist:

Have you ever walked into a room and felt instantly calmer, without really knowing why? Maybe it was the soft lighting or the color of the walls, or even the gentle background music? You didn't stop to analyze it, but your body knew. We talked about creating a calm corner in episode 43, and that incorporated subconscious cues like creating the calm lighting that's your subconscious at work, and today we're going to connect those everyday subconscious cues with something I see as the ultimate hack for upgrading your mindset and outlook Subliminal messages.

Emily Feist:

Not only will you learn what they are and how they can help you, but we're also going to experience one, and in this episode, I'll share a five-minute sample of a subliminal track so you can feel what it's like for yourself. And if you want to keep going with this practice, I'll tell you how you can access tracks designed to support your nervous system inside my private BioSync membership.

Emily Feist:

Welcome back to it Starts at Vagus the podcast where we stop chasing cone and start creating it, one small shift at a time. I'm your host, Emily, and I'm your guide to rewiring stress, restoring peace and giving your nervous system the attention it deserves.

Emily Feist:

Let's start simple

Emily Feist:

.

Emily Feist:

A subconscious cue is something you notice but don't really analyze. Think of the warm glow of a candlelight, the tempo of background music in a coffee shop or, in my case, the soft blue walls in my massage practice. You see or hear it, but you don't pause to think about it and yet your mood shifts. Subliminal messages are different. They're messages hidden under sound, designed to bypass your conscious filter. You hear nature sounds or a soft piano, but underneath your subconscious mind is absorbing supportive affirmations. Now here's what subliminal messages aren't. They aren't mind control. They're not sneaky tricks to make you do something against your will. They're simply a way to reinforce the positive changes you already want, without your inner critic interrupting. For example, many of us use positive affirmations and that practice is really good. But sometimes our conscious mind goes really I don't know about that, I'm not so sure and it starts fighting the affirmation and there's conflict within yourself. And with subliminal messages, only your subconscious mind can hear the messages. So your conscious mind doesn't fight against you. Our brains act like bouncers at a busy club. Only certain thoughts get past the velvet rope. But with subliminal messages they don't even bother the bouncer, they slip right in and start planting seeds of calm, confidence or focus. This is why they pair so beautifully with habits that you may already be practicing, for example, the positive affirmations. Subliminals help them sink in without that resistance and with our vagus nerve practices like humming breathing or slowing down throughout the day, your body relaxes, while subliminal messages reinforce supportive thoughts in the background. It's like tending to a garden. Your daily habits are the sunlight and water, but the subliminal messages, they're nutrient-rich soils working quietly underneath the surface.

Emily Feist:

For me, subliminal tracks are the ultimate mindset hack. They don't replace your routines, they amplify them. They help you get out of your own way, soften the inner critic and keep your subconscious on the same team as your conscious goals. And here's the key For best results. Subliminals need consistency, need consistency. Listening once or twice a day for at least 21 to 30 days is much more powerful than cramming a bunch of listens into one day. Think of it like brushing your teeth it's that daily rhythm that makes the difference.

Emily Feist:

Before we dive into the sample subliminal that I've made for you, let's do a quick nervous system reset together. Take in a slow breath through your nose, hold for three and exhale through your mouth Again. Inhale some calm and exhale tension. That's all it takes to signal to your body that I'm safe and I can relax, and this is the perfect state to listen to a subliminal track. Now here's a five-minute subliminal designed to help you reset and release tension. All you'll consciously hear is calming background sounds, but underneath are affirmations like I am calm, my body knows how to reset, I am safe and supported, and all of these statements are located in the show notes so you can see exactly what I'm saying that is underneath the background sounds. Now you don't need to do anything. You can close your eyes, you can rest or even just let it play in the background while you go on about your day. No-transcript. So Thank you, thank you, thank you, welcome back. How do you feel? Sometimes the shift is subtle at first, almost like your nervous system sighs with relief.

Emily Feist:

Like I said earlier, the real magic comes with consistency. The more often you listen, the more your subconscious mind starts to naturally align with calm. Subconscious mind starts to naturally align with calm, resilience and clarity. Today, we explore the difference between subconscious cues and subliminal messages. You learned how cues gently guide your mood and how subliminals slip past the inner critic to reinforce your goals. You got to

Emily Feist:

experience it for yourself and we talked about how consistency once or twice a day for 21 to 30 days is the real key to lasting change.
