Hey there, and welcome back to Tech Savvy 101: AI Automation Made Simple. I'm your host, Sarah Baker, your tech savvy bestie, here to help you simplify, automate, and grow your business without the tech overwhelm. Today's episode is going to be an absolute game changer for anyone who's been hesitant about using AI in their content creation process. In today's episode, we're tackling something that stops so many entrepreneurs from diving into AI: the myths and misconceptions surrounding AI in content creation. If you've ever thought to yourself,"AI tools are just way too expensive for me," or maybe"AI generated content just doesn't sound authentic," you're not alone. But here's the thing, most of these beliefs are rooted in misinformation. Whether you're creating social media content, blog posts, emails, or videos, these myths might just be holding you back from transforming not just your content creation, but your entire business. By the end of this episode, you'll know exactly what's true and what's not when it comes to AI and content creation. Let's dive right into myth number one. Let's start with the most common concern I hear:"AI is too complicated for someone like me." wrong. The fact is that AI is not too complicated for beginners. I get it. When you hear terms like artificial intelligence and machine learning, it can sound incredibly intimidating. But here's the truth. Most AI tools are designed to be as user friendly as your favorite social media app. Let me show you what I mean with some real examples. Canva's MagicWrite tool. If you've ever used Canva for graphics, guess what? You already know how to use their AI writing tool. They have so many amazing AI features, and they are built right into the same simple interface that you are probably already using to create graphics. Another great example is Gamma app. If you want to create a presentation, all you have to do is type in what you want. It is as simple as sending a text message. And before you know it, you can watch gamma.app transform your text into beautiful slides right before your eyes. A final example is castmagic.io. If you have a podcast or a video, all you need to do is upload your file as simple as attaching a photo to an email and boom, you've got a transcript, show notes, and a whole host of other assets at your fingertips in a matter of minutes. These tools are designed for creators, not programmers. You do not have to have a fancy engineering degree. If you can use Instagram, you can use AI tools. Imagine you're a crafting instructor who's never used AI before. You might start off with something as simple as castmagic.io to transcribe your tutorial videos. All you would need to do is upload your video file. The AI handles all the complex speech to text conversion behind the scenes, and you end up with clean, readable show notes that you can quickly edit and share with your students. Now that you see how user friendly these tools are, I know what you're thinking next. Okay, Sarah, but what's all this gonna cost me? Let's tackle that myth next. So myth number two is that AI tools are too expensive. The second most common myth I hear. AI tools are only for big businesses with big budgets and my friend that could not be further from the truth. The reality is that AI tools have become incredibly accessible for small businesses and solopreneurs like you and me. Let's look at another example. Keywords Everywhere is a tool that starts as low as only$6 a month that gives you 400,000 credits. That is enough to last most small businesses for an entire year. And if you're looking for a video creation tool, tools like Lumen5 offer a free version to get you started. Another great example is Tailwind, which combines AI with scheduling capabilities for as little as$14.99 per month. Some of these tools I have already gone over in our AI in Action series, so if you are looking for more details about how to use these tools, make sure to go back to previous episodes of AI in Action. You can check them out on my YouTube channel if you want to see them in action. These prices are far from the enterprise only territory and are designed to fit into the budgets of entrepreneurs just like you and me. Think of it this way. If you're a fitness instructor, and you spend hours writing weekly emails to your clients, an AI tool that costs$20 a month, like ChatGPT Pro, could save you maybe five hours per week. At even a modest$30 per hour value for your time, you're trading$20 a month to use the tool to save you$600 worth of your time every month. That's time that you could then be spending creating new workout programs, connecting with your clients, or maybe finally launching that YouTube channel you've been dreaming about. But here's Where people often get stuck, they think, okay, sure, it's an affordable tool, but won't my content sound like a robot wrote it? And that brings us to our next myth. Myth#3. Doesn't all AI content feel and sound robotic and impersonal? This one used to have a grain of truth, I'm not going to lie, but AI tools have come a long way. Take ChatGPT for example. When it's used effectively, you can train it to understand your brand voice, your tone, and your style. And the key word in that sentence is effectively. If you're using these tools correctly, you can get truly outstanding results from them. Make sure that you're going back to episode#107 where I taught you how to establish your brand voice, and make ChatGPT sound like you if you need a refresher on how to develop your unique brand voice. Because this is the key. If you are fearful of robotic sounding content, you likely haven't learned how to train these tools to sound like you. These tools are designed to adapt to your voice and style and not replace it. But if the content that you're getting out of them isn't knocking your socks off, you just need to learn how to train them. So let's look at how different tools can help maintain your unique voice. For example, you could provide examples of your writing to ChatGPT and ask it to match your style. You could use Jasper.ai and help you create brand voice guidelines. My personal favorite for copywriting is Claude.ai. I think the content that you get out of Claude is far superior to any other platform. And finally, you could use a tool like Grammarly to check for your tone, grammar, and help you polish up your work once you've finalized any type of written product. The key is using AI as your first draft writer, not your final product. Let's say you're writing a blog post. Instead of staring at a blank screen, You might have ChatGPT help you create an outline and then put that outline into Claude to create a first draft in your unique brand voice and style. Then you may go in and add an edit your own personal experiences. This is where you're adding that human element. You add your unique insights and examples and stories, and then you might take that final draft and pop it into Grammarly for a final check, Making sure that your tone and grammar are consistent throughout, before you send out whatever your piece of work is and hit publish. Speaking of using these tools to get started, this leads us into another common misconception I often hear Entrepreneurs come to me and say, I don't think my company or business is moving fast enough with implementing AI. And let me tell you this. I hear this from so many business owners who are panicking because they think everyone else is already using AI perfectly. Here's the truth. Most businesses are just beginning their AI journey. And that is completely okay. It feels crazy when we sit back to realize that we are just truly at the infancy of the AI revolution. So if you feel like you're not embracing or using AI fast enough, please give yourself grace and know that you are not alone in that feeling. I'm gonna give you some statistics about AI right now that may just knock your socks off. ChatGPT was released November 30th, 2022. Gemini was released March 21st, 2023. These are brand new companies. AI is in its infancy. So if you feel like you are not using it correctly, know that there is no such thing as using it correctly. The way your business uses AI is going to be completely different than the way a different company uses it. There is no such thing as right or wrong. It's just what works for your business. The key here isn't speed, it's strategic implementation. Here's an idea of what smart implementation might look like. Start with one type of content, like social media posts, and master one AI tool before adding another and another and another. It's not about using All of the tools. It's about using the tools that you need in your business. What is going to save you the most time? And document what works best for your business and your specific needs and then scale up gradually based on those results. Even larger companies are just now leaning in to utilizing AI. Fortune Magazine said just over half of businesses surveyed said they would be spending between$500,000 and$5 million on AI initiatives this year. So regardless of whether you're a solopreneur or a small business, know that this feeling of being behind when it comes to implementing AI in your business, you are not alone. All businesses are racing to implement AI in their businesses, even large Fortune 500 companies. But the fact that you are trying to implement AI at all, is huge. Because AI isn't going anywhere, it is the future. According to Forbes, by the year 2030, the amount of money invested in AI would be$15,700,000,000,000. So AI isn't going anywhere and the fact that you are leaning in and learning how to use AI in your business when AI is still in its infancy, is amazing. So give yourself grace. Myth number five is the misconception that by using AI you will definitely improve your performance. And here's the deal, just having AI tools does not automatically mean better content or that your business will improve. These are tools, not magic wands, and success depends on how you use them. Here is what effective AI implementation actually looks like. First, you need a clear content strategy. And then you use the tools. You need consistent brand guidelines. You need regular performance monitoring. And you need continuous refinement of prompts and outputs. For example, you could use tools like Lately. ai, which helps analyze your best performing content. You could be using Grammarly Business to adapt to your brand style. And you could be using tools like HyperWrite to learn from your editing choices. This strategic approach helps to address another huge misconception. Myth#6. The thought that everything on the web now is created by machines. Honestly, this myth makes me laugh because it is so far from reality. While AI tools are becoming more common, they are enhancing human creativity, not replacing it. Look at how top creators are actually using AI. YouTubers and podcasters like me are using tools like Descript for editing, but we're still creating original content. This is actually me recording this podcast, right? Not a bot. Bloggers are using tools like Surfer SEO for optimization, but they're still creating their own content. Podcasters are using tools like CastMagic.io to create their transcripts. But they're creating transcripts of their own original content. And this brings us to the biggest myth of all. Myth#7. The one that keeps many content creators and small business owners up at night. The myth that AI will replace us all. And this is the heavy one. The fear that AI will make content creators and entrepreneurs like you and me completely obsolete. I hear the worry in many people's voices when they ask me about this one. And let's be real, it's scary to think about. We've all built these businesses and there's this concern underlying, when I talk about it with people, that we've poured our hearts and souls into these businesses and what happens if AI just makes us obsolete, right? But here's what AI can never replace. You. Your story. Your experiences. And your unique way of seeing the world. Think about it. AI can't tell the story of how you stayed up all night with your first client Solving a crisis that changed how you run your business. AI can't share that vulnerable moment When you realized that your first approach wasn't working and how that failure led to your biggest breakthrough. AI can't Describe the look on your client's face when they finally achieved the transformation that they had been Struggling toward for months and AI can't Explain how your personal struggle with burnout led you to develop your signature framework. These are all the things that make you unique, and AI can't take that from you. When you share your content, you're not just sharing information, you're sharing wisdom that you earned through experience. It's the difference between AI listing"five ways to grow your business" and you saying,"here's what I learned when I almost lost everything in my third year of business and how it completely changed my approach to growth." AI can help you draft your newsletter, structure your blog posts, schedule your social posts, optimize your headlines. All amazing things. Saves you time, saves you money, makes you more efficient. But it cannot tell the story of why you started your business at your kitchen table at two o'clock in the morning. Share the genuine excitement you feel when a student in your course has their first big win. Or convey the hard won wisdom from your decade of experience in your industry. Or build the trust with your audience through shared experiences and authentic connection. So that's what I want you to remember. Your value isn't in the mechanics of content creation, it is in the unique"you-ness" of everything you create. It's in the way that you see patterns that other people miss because of your unique experience. It's in how you can take a complex idea and explain it through stories that resonate because you've lived them! The future isn't about AI replacing creators, it's about giving creators like you more space to be human, more time to connect, and more energy to pour into the parts of your work that only you can do. Because while AI can help you create content more efficiently, it can never replace your heart, or your insight or your story. And those are the things that truly matter to your audience. So now that we've busted the myths, let's talk about how to take action. Here are three simple steps to start using AI without overwhelm. One, start small. Begin with one tool that solves the biggest problem or pain point for your business. For example, if you're struggling with SEO, maybe try Keywords Everywhere to find high performing keywords for your blog. Two, focus on automation. Use tools like Tailwind for Pinterest or Castmagic.io to automate those repetitive tasks that will then free up your time for the more creative work. Or as I like to call it, the business of running your business. And three, practice makes progress. Don't expect perfection on day one. Play around with the tools, experiment, test them out with the free trials, and learn as you go. Remember, these tools are here to make your life easier. Not harder. And there you have it. The truth about AI in content creation. It's not too expensive. It's not impersonal, and it's absolutely not too complicated. You can do this. These tools are designed to help you work smarter, save time and create content that connects with your audience.
