Wheelie Hogs
Big Sister
Some days just don’t go to plan… and for Little Wee, today was one of those days. From forgotten homework to missing PE kit (and even a little teasing from classmates), everything felt like one big disaster. Feeling low, he tucked himself away in his room, certain that no one could understand.
But big sisters have a way of knowing things, and Pinky Bow wasn’t about to let Little Wee feel alone. As she reluctantly cooked dinner, she found her little brother and reminded him that bad days happen to everyone, even big sisters! Together, they made a plan to get organised for tomorrow, and in the process, turned cooking into a team effort.
By bedtime, Little Wee felt a whole lot lighter, knowing that tomorrow was a fresh start, and maybe, just maybe, he’d make things right with his friend Henry. Because no bad day lasts forever, and sometimes, all you need is a little sibling magic.

Welcome to the everyday adventures of the wheelie hogs join little wee and his family, especially Nana, as they live their lives alongside friends and neighbors in hogglington, big sister, little wheelie was in a bit of a grump when he got home from school today, so he goes straight to his room and shuts the door, not really quite sure what to do with himself.
Mama and Papa were not going to be home until later that evening, and Nana and rainbow were out with friends, so Pinky Bo was looking after little wee a bit reluctantly.
Pinky Bo was in the kitchen looking through all the cupboards, trying to decide what to cook for herself and her little brother, but she just couldn't find anything that she fancied. Mama and Papa had specifically asked her to cook with little wee for their dinner, and the rest of the family would do their own when they got in,
Pinky Bo did not like cooking, so she was in a bit of a grump too.
After what seemed like ages and ages of looking for something to eat, Pinky bow realized that little wee was quiet and nowhere to be seen. That's strange, she said out loud to herself, little wee is never quiet, so she went off to find him also, perhaps he could help decide what to have for dinner.
Pinky Bo looked around the house and in the garden, but there was no sign of little wee. So she made her way up to his room and banged on the door, feeling slightly annoyed with the whole situation.
Come in, said a sad voice from inside the room. As Pinky bow opened the door, she could see little wee was feeling sad. He was just not his usual upbeat and energetic self. What's up, little wee, we need to decide what to have for dinner, but I can't find anything. I've got homework to get on with, and you have uncharacteristically shut yourself in your room. So what's wrong?
Little wee looked at Pinky bow and burst into tears. Pinky Bo was a bit shocked, annoyed that Mama and Papa weren't there to deal with this, and started to feel a little overwhelmed to herself, she took a deep breath in, shrugged her shoulders down with an out breath to center herself, and made her way over to little wee and sat down with him until he stopped crying.
Pinky Bo handed her little brother some tissues here, she said, use these to wipe that huge amount of snot from your nose. Said, Pinky bow with a playful and caring smile, thank you, said, little wee as he wiped his nose.
Little wee then went on to tell Pinky bear all about his day at school. And it went something like this, I took the wrong books today, so got in trouble with the teacher because I hadn't got the right homework to hand in. I forgot it was PE today, so didn't have my wheelie ball tires, which meant I didn't get picked for the wheelie board team, Henry and his friends said I had a big nose, and everyone laughed at me in the dining hall, and they said that I had a dizzy brain because I forgot all the right stuff for school today, and Henry didn't speak to me, which means he doesn't like me anymore. Then I got splashed by really big muddy puddle as the school bus pulled up, and everybody laughed at me again and called me dizzy brain and said, Why didn't I move out of the way?
Wow. Replied, Pinky blow. That was a lot of things to deal with today. I'll give you that. But let's think this through.
When you think back over the past term at school, how many of your other classmates have got their homework or their PE kit or something like that?
Little we thought for a minute and said, Yeah, actually, a few of them did. One of them hadn't done his homework at all and got into trouble. All right. Said Pinkie brown. So that proves that you aren't the only one to have forgotten or taken in the wrong school books.
What about hearing hogs at school say nasty or unkind things to others? Have you witnessed any of that before? Yes, said Little we and it makes me cross, and I tell them.
To leave that hog alone. Alright, said Pinkie bow again. So that proves that you aren't the only one to have been called names.
What about seeing friends fall out or argue with each other? Do you ever see that at school? Yes, all the time. And the funny thing is, they are nearly always friends again the next day. Yes, so that proves that even though Henry didn't speak to you today, he may have had his own bad day going on. So you can pick up your friendship again tomorrow, when you both feel a bit better.
And what about seeing anyone at school fall over or spill something or anything else like that? Yes, all the time. Actually said little we we are all doing things like that, spilling paint or water or drinks or falling over or off of our chairs, all sorts of silly things.
Well, then said, Pinky bow, it seems to me that you had had quite a normal day. In some ways. It's just that you had lots of things happen all at once, and it became overwhelming to deal with.
We all make mistakes, and we are all exposed to accidents in one way or another, and we all get splashed by pedals or pooed on by birds or get things spilled on us by other people. It's normal. It's just a little inconvenient.
And anyway, you're home now so you can sort your bag for tomorrow and get organized while I go and cook us some dinner. Is that a deal?
But you're busy too. Pinky. Said, little way, I know, so I'll cook dinner. Will you get organized, and then you tidy the dishes so that I can get organized? Perfect deal. Said, Pinkie bow. I'll give you a shout when the dinner is ready. And I've thought, what we can have pizza. Ah, thank you, Pinky Bo, I feel so much better now. I'm glad you're my big sister and little wheelie and pinky Bo ate together in the kitchen, swapping stories of forgetting homework, being pooed on by birds, having silly squabbles with friends, and they ended up laughing about all of it and agreeing that each new day helps us to be able to do things a little differently if we want to.
That night, little wheelie went to bed feeling excited about seeing his friend Henry tomorrow and asking him how his day had been yesterday, and as little we fell asleep, he thought about how much he loved his big sister and Pizza.
Until next time roll With the wheelie hogs.
