Welcome to the everyday adventures of the wheelie hogs join little wee and his family, especially Nana, as they live their lives alongside friends and neighbours in hoglington.
Learning to swim, little wee had spent the afternoon at the local park with Mama and Papa. They'd had a really good time and decided to wheel quite a long way because they were enjoying chatting together.
Mama was telling little we and Papa all about her new painting she was about to start, and Papa was talking about his favourite wheelie board team that he'd recently been to watch. What have you been up to lately? Little, we asked Papa, well, said, Little we I have decided that I would like to learn to swim. Can I have lessons? Mama and Papa look to each other. We think that's a very good idea. And guess who really loves to swim, Nana, we're sure she would love to teach you. Whoa, I'd love to go swimming with Nana. I'll ask her if I can come with her next time she goes.
So little wheelie asked Nana if she would teach him how to swim. I would be delighted too. She said, I taught rainbow and pinky bow to swim. They took to it really quite quickly, and I'm sure you will too. Let's go at the weekend,
little wee was so looking forward to being able to swim. He couldn't wait to join his friends during the summer holidays in the local open air swimming pool. His friends had all learnt to swim last year, so little wee was looking forward to catching up with them.
Sunday morning came and Nana and little wee ventured off to the local swimming pool. There were quite a few other wheelie hogs there, but Nana said that didn't matter. They would start off in the shallow end of the pool with some basic swimming techniques. And don't worry if you can't do it straight away. Nana said, Sometimes learning a new skill takes time.
Nana wheeled herself down the slope into the shallow end of the pool and looked up at little wee Come on. Then she said, the water is lovely, and she started barbing up and down in the water, making a bit of a splash, and waiting for little wee to join her.
Little wee carefully made his way down the slope into the water, but he'd forgotten that he wasn't as tall as Nana, so his wheels were on the bottom of the pool, with only his nose and the top of his spines poking out of the water.
Nana caught hold of him and gently lifted him up and held his weight while he got used to being in the water.
What do you think then, little we How does being in the water feel? Asked Nana, it's a bit cold, Nana, but I'm not afraid, and I like it. How do I swim? You'll soon warm up when you start swimming. Little wee, Nana said, reassuringly. Firstly, can you feel your weight in the water? Asked Nana, yes, I can I feel light like the water is taking my weight? And little wee started to spin his wheels gently, which made him rise in the water. Little we smiled. This is great, Nana, I can swim.
Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Little wee, I'm holding on to you. If I let you go, you might sink to the bottom again. Said, Nana, let me go. Nana, let me go. I'm okay. I can do it all right. Said, Nana, keep gently spinning your wheels. I'm letting you go now. And Nana let go of little wee, and he promptly sunk to the bottom of the pool.
Little wee's nose was out of the water again, so Nana went under the water as well to see little wee. When little we saw her, he did a big grin. He thought Nana looked really funny underwater, and indicated that he wanted to try again. So Nana took hold of him and gently lifted him up.
Okay. Little wee said, Nana, let's try this again, and this time, spin your wheels a bit faster. Ready after 3123, little wee span his wheels faster this time, but a little too fast, and took off like a rocket across.
The width of the swimming pool. Whoa said, Nana, that was fast. Are you okay?
Some of the other wheelie hogs in the swimming pool were looking a bit shocked at the speed in which little we shot across the pool. He actually left quite a big wake behind him, which knocked a couple of the older wheelie hogs off their wheels, and they coughed and spluttered a bit. And one of them was a little bit cross because their spines had got wet and gone curly hooligan. She shouted after little wee.
Sorry. Nana said to the other wheelie hogs, he's learning first time in the pool.
I think you need to say he's learned. Said one of the other swimmers Look at him go. Nana looked back and there was little we swimming around as though he'd been doing it for years. Nana was chuffed to bits.
Nana swam up to little we you've got the hang of it. Then she said, I think I have Nana. Thanks for helping me. And with that, Nana and little wee both shot off side by side down the whole length of the pool.
Little wee was really looking forward to the school summer holidays now, because he could finally join in with his Friends.
Until next time roll with the wheelie hogs.
