So what crazy adventures are going to happen on today's ride? There's only one way to find out. Alright, let's hit the track. Christmas dirt bike adventure with Santa. The sun was just starting to rise as Jax, Bonnie and Mitch finished their breakfast on the morning of Christmas Eve. It was already warm and a soft breeze rustled the gum trees around their campsite. The trio had planned a dirt bike adventure ride through the bush. something Jax and Bonnie couldn't wait for. Today's gonna be awesome. Jack said, pulling on his blue and green jersey. Bonnie was just as excited. Tugging on her pink and black gloves. Do you think we'll see kangaroos or koalas? Mitch laughed as he grabbed his helmet with all the noise we'll be making on the bikes, I reckon we'll scare everything off before we see it. Jack's grinned, not everything. Dad. Maybe we'll run into something cool. Like what? Bonnie asked, giving Jax a playful shove. I don't know, maybe Santa, Jax said. Bonnie rolled her eyes. Santa doesn't ride dirt bikes! We'll see about that, Jax said, grabbing his helmet. The trio geared up and rolled their bikes out of the shed. The engines roared to life, vroom, vroom, breaking the quiet morning air. The scent of fuel and dust filled the air as they twisted the throttles and headed off into the bush, their bikes rumbling along the dirt track. The bush was alive with sounds, the chirping of cicadas, the call of kookaburras, and the rustling of leaves as they weaved through narrow trails. Mitch led the way, kicking up a trail of dust as Jax and Bonnie followed close behind. Keep your eyes on the track, Mitch yelled. I am, Dad! Jack shouted back, skidding through a tight corner. The wheel slid out and dirt sprayed into the air. Bonnie laughed as she followed, hitting a bump and getting a little air. Woo hoo! This is the best! They rode deeper into the bush, the gum trees towering over them, and the sunlight flickering through the branches. Suddenly, Mitch slowed down and stopped at the edge of a clearing. Whoa! What's that? Mitch said, pointing ahead. Jackson Bonny pulled up beside him, skidding to a stop. In the middle of the clearing, under a big gum tree, near a sparkling billabong, someone was napping. A red sleigh. Yes, a sleigh. Was parked nearby, hitched up to six big kangaroos with shiny bells around their necks. The sleigh was stacked with presents wrapped in bright paper, and beside it sat a big red dirt bike. Is that? Bonnie whispered, her eyes wide open. No way! Jax gasped. It's Santa! The man under the tree stirred, pulling his red hat down over his eyes as he yawned. Then slowly he sat up and stretched. Crikey! Santa said in a deep cheerful voice, blinking as he spotted them. You found me! Jax's mouth fell open. You're real! And you're in the bush! Santa chuckled, his belly jiggling. Even Santa needs a break mate! It's been a long year and I was just taking a nap under the big shady tree before my big night. Bonnie grinned. What about the sleigh? Why do you have kangaroos instead of reindeer? Santa laughed again, climbing to his feet. Reindeer don't do too well in the Aussie heat. Kangaroos are much better at hopping through the bush and faster too. Jacks couldn't stop staring at Santa's dirt bike. You ride dirt bikes too. Of course I do, Santa said brushing dust off his red coat. How else am I supposed to deliver presents to kids who live out in the middle of nowhere? Mitz chuckled. You've got a good point there, Santa. Santa gave them a big grin and pointed to his bike. Tell you what, why don't we go for a ride? I've got some presents to deliver and the bush can get tricky with all this gear. He padded the big red sack strapped to the back of his dirt bike. Jacks and Bonnie exchanged wide eyed looks. Ride with Santa? Bonnie squeaked. Let's do it! Jacks cheered, twisting the throttle. Vroom! Santa climbed onto his red dirt bike with a clunk and adjusted his helmet, which was red and white trim, just like his coat. Alright, you two, follow me and keep an eye on the presents. With a roar. Santa's dirt bike sh forward broom. He sack a presence bouncing behind him. Jack's Bonnie and Mitch followed their bikes, rumbling through the clearing, and back onto the trails. Keep up Santa Shouted laughing as he powered through the bush. Jacks rode up beside Bonnie grinning. This is insane. We're riding with Santa. I can't believe it. Bonnie Shouted, dodging a low hanging branch as they rode, Santa's sack began to wobble and presents started to slip out. Santa. You're losing presence. Jack's called out Santa glanced back. His eyes widening. Oh no, my sack's coming undone. Bonnie hit the brakes and skidded to a stop. I'll get this one! She yelled, hopping off her bike to grab a brightly wrapped box. Jack swerved to avoid another present and shouted, I see another one! Mitch pulled up alongside Santa. You might need to tighten that sack, mate. Santa skidded to a stop. You're right, Mitch. These trails are bumpier than a ruse pouch. The kids helped Santa collect the scattered presents, stuffing them back into his sack. Thanks, Jax and Bonnie, Santa said, tying the sack tighter this time. Couldn't do this without you. As they set off again, they passed all kinds of Aussie animals. A big goanna scurried across the track, its tail whipped behind it. Look at that lizard! Bonnie yelled. Jax pointed to the side of the trail. There's a mob of kangaroos! Look how high they're jumping! The kookaburras laughed from the trees above, and the sounds of cicadas buzzed all around them. Bush riding's the best, isn't it? Santa Shouted over the roar of their engines. It really is. Jack shouted back, leaning into a berm and blasting out it. The group powered up a steep hill, their engines roaring as they climbed higher. Jack stood on his foot pegs to keep his balance while Bonnie sat on the seat so she could paddle with her legs if she needed to. At the top they stopped to catch their breath. The view was incredible. The bush stretched out below them with the billabong where Santa's sleigh was parked, sparkling in the distance. Santa? Bonnie asked. Do you think you could bring me a new dirt bike for Christmas? Mine's getting a bit small. Jax chimed in. Yeah, me too. I've been riding the wheels off mine. Santa smiled mysteriously. Well, we'll just have to see. Have you been good kids? They zoomed back down the hill, their dirt bikes roaring and spitting dust into the air. When they reached the clearing by the billabong, the kangaroos were still waiting patiently, their bells ringing softly. Santa parked his dirt bike and climbed off. You two have been amazing helpers, he said. I think you've earned a special present. He walked over to his sleigh and pulled back the blanket covering the presents. There, gleaming in the sunlight, were two brand new dirt bikes. One blue and green, the other pink and black. Jax's jaw dropped. No way! Is that for us? Bonnie's eyes lit up. They're perfect! Merry Christmas, you two. You've earned these after all the help you gave me today. Jax and Bonnie ran over to their new bikes, hopping on and revving the engines. Vroom! Vroom! Thank you, Santa! Bonnie said. This is the best Christmas ever! Jax shouted, tearing off across the clearing on his new bike. Mitch watched them ride away with a smile. Thanks, Santa. You've made their day. Santa winked. Any time, Mitch. Now, I've got a big night ahead of me. They waved goodbye as Santa climbed back onto his bike, ready to pull his sleigh. Merry Christmas, Santa called as he roared off into the bush, his bells jingling and his laughter echoing through the trees. Jack and Bonnie rode their new bikes back toward camp, the happiest they'd ever been. You know what, Bonnie? Jack said as they stopped to look at the billabong one last time. What? Bonnie asked. any day riding a derp bike is a good day. But riding with Santa, that's the best day ever!
