Bonnie Lulu and the forest of Fairies. Today was a special ride for Bonnie. She got to ride with her cousin Lulu. Lulu was just learning to ride a bike for the first time, but she felt confident enough to head into the forest. Are you sure I can ride it? Lulu asked Bonnie Grinned already pulling on her pink and black riding jersey. Of course I was younger than you when I started. And look at me now. She tapped her little bike beside them. This one's perfect for you. It even has sparkle mode. Lulu's eyes went wide. Really? Bonnie leaned in and whispered, well, not technically, but if you ride it sometimes the magic button on the handlebars makes it go fast. Trust me, they were parked on the edge of a forest not far from home. One with thick green trees, mossy paths, and a secret little trails that weaved through like ferry highways. Bonnie had brought Mitch along too, of course, just in case they needed a grownup to help. He was busy adjusting the tire pressure on his bike, dressed in his motocross gear. Okay, Lulu Bonnie said, swinging a leg over her own pink bike. You remember the throttle, don't you? Lulu nodded. Yep. Twist it and let's go. Good girl. Now remember, stand up when it gets bumpy. Bombon said. And if you hear a giggle behind the trees. It might be a forest fairy Lulu's mouth dropped. Fairies. Yep. I saw one last time. Let's go find them. The bikes roared to life, and the girls slowly rolled into the forest. Bonnie led the way standing up confidently, knees bent, elbows out like she'd practiced a hundred times before. Lulu followed. A little bit nervous at first, but her fairy braveness came through as she bounced over every bump. This is amazing. Lulu squealed her dress up, tutu over her riding gear, bouncing under her chest protector. You're doing great. Bonnie called back. Now watch out for those tree roots Lulu. Gas. What? Tree roots. Bonnie pointed just in time for Lulu to stand up and bomb. She hit a tree root, but fortunately when sailing over it safely and landed on the trail on the other side. Third as she landed with a giggle. Nice one. Mitch yelled behind them. That was a proper bunny hop, Lulu. They weave through the ferns and gum trees. The sun flickering through the leaves above birds chirped and somewhere far off a kookaburra. Laughed like it had heard a funny joke. Bonnie pulled up next to an old log and shut off her bike. Now she said to Lulu, this is a fairy log. She whispered Sometimes if you sit quietly, you can hear them chatting. The girls sat for a moment in the forest sipping from their water bottles. Lulu looked around eyes wide. I think I just saw one. She said, Bonnie grinned. I told you they're around here. Suddenly a crack echoed through the bush, then a mo and the sound of something huge came running. What was that? Lulu asked, gripping her handlebars and ready to get outta there. Mitch appeared from around the bend, eyes wide behind his goggles. It's a wild cow. It just ran right through the track. I reckon it's lost. Let's get the hell outta here before it tramples us. Well then Bonnie said, we better herd it back to safety Fairy forest rules. Say you've gotta help lost creatures. Bonnie jumped on her bike. Are you ready, Lulu? We've gotta get this cow back to its family. I'm ready. Lulu said. They followed the hoof prints through the sand and grass bouncing through small puddles of water and winding between trees on their dirt bikes. The trail turned muddy, but Bonnie showed Lulu how to keep her weight back and stay smooth on the throttle. Don't give it too much. Bonnie told Lulu just steady like, you're sneaking past a sleeping troll. Lulu followed her line. Exactly. Okay, Bonnie got it. Eventually they found the cow munching on long grass near a little creek. Mitch approached slowly and waved his arms. The cow turned him, began trotting back down the track. Right. Let's escort her back. This way, lady Oo, Lulu giggled so hard. She nearly stalled and crashed her bike at Bonnie. Following the cow, Lulu followed behind Bonnie too. Beeping her horn. Beep, beep, beep, beep to get the cow moving to go back to her family. Lulu was getting the hang of the riding. She was able to follow the cow, jump up over tree roots, get through puddles and push her way through mud bogs. She was loving learning to ride the bike in the ferry forest. They rode on, until they reached a big open clearing there. Waiting on the other side. Were a dozen tiny fairies. At least that's what Bonnie said. Look, they're guarding the flower gate. She whispered, we have to do a trick to enter. Bonnie popped a tiny wheelie over a bump. Lulu gas, I can't do that. Yes, you can just lean back, pull up on the bars and give it a bit of throttle. Bonnie told Lulu, okay, I really want to enter, so I've gotta do a wheelie to get through. Lulu gave it a go. And popped her front wheel and inch off the ground. Bonnie clapped fairy approved. They passed through the clearing and followed a winding trail up a hill. The path lined with purple flowers and glittering gum leaves. Bonnie stood the whole way using her legs to soak up the bumps up here she shouted.. They reached the top and parked their bikes. Lulu stood next to her cousin, breathless. Her cheeks pink with joy. I did it. Lulu said You did more than that, said Bonnie. You nailed it. You even pulled a wheelie to get into the secret fairy ground as they rode home fairy wings fluttering, tus, dusty and cheek. Saw from smiling. Mitch rode up alongside them. You girls were incredible today. He said Even the fairies would be proud. Lulu beamed. Can we ride again tomorrow? That was so much fun. I didn't even get that dirty. Bonnie gave her a high five. Hey Lou, just remember any day on a dirt bike is a good day.
