Welcome to a new episode of The Public Nuisance Podcast with me, Sean McComb.

This week we welcome Caolan & Tiarnan Loughran to the podcast.

We cover one-percent routines and why working smarter beats pretending to grind 13 hours a day, balancing school runs with two-a-days, building yourself inside a proper facility, moving to Amsterdam, elite sparring with Paedie, coaching from opposite corners and somehow giving the exact same instructions, why Katie Taylor at Croke Park would be a once-in-a-lifetime Irish sporting moment, how she changed women’s boxing forever, different fighter personalities backstage, learning to stay calm instead of burning energy, life in the Netherlands, the rise of MMA and how fast the game evolves, burgers in the VIP after fight night, why some fight rituals make no sense, football versus boxing, starting boxing at eight years old, Belfast producing ridiculous fighters, how hard Katie actually is, Thai camps and Muay Thai madness, Sean O’Malley money versus UFC reality, promoter loyalty, the brutal sacrifice behind elite boxing, why pro boxing and amateur boxing are completely different sports, what 100 hard rounds in camp really does to you, near-misses in the toilet before fight time, New York drug-testing chaos before Barboza, coaching kids and getting a bigger buzz from their wins, footwork over flashy hands, the pressure of having to win, Belfast homecomings, packed fight nights, why experience and mentality matter as much as talent and much more.

New episodes every Tuesday.

Welcome And Setting The Scene At SL Fitness

SPEAKER_04

Welcome to this episode of the Pum Nations Podcast brought to you this time from SL Fitness. Not killing the studios quite but we're here with the two Lochner brothers, Keelan and Tiernan. Lads, cheers for coming in, I appreciate it. It's been a long time coming, we've been trying to get it organised.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And the time of my as well with Keelan getting his fed nice with PFL and stuff.

SPEAKER_01

I love this idea. We have time, time around it.

Sleep, Schedules, And Managing Training Time

SPEAKER_04

It's mad that it's uh like in between training. You have so much time, but it's it should be used wisely.

SPEAKER_01

I just I I know you but I nap every day.

SPEAKER_04

I I don't nap at all, but I should nap. Shoot nap.

SPEAKER_01

I nap every day, hi.

SPEAKER_00

This guy's this guy's sleep at hours, so he tries he tries to talk it's like oh this is what I need to be doing.

SPEAKER_01

I'll yeah, like eight to nine hours in the night, good sleep, and then I'll nap for about an hour daily.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Do you don't do one of the ones at all? Just do you do the one the ones? One of the ones are so hard. Like for me, I don't do them at all.

SPEAKER_01

Do you know?

SPEAKER_04

Loads of people message me, like I'm on the one pod and I just like nah, fuck I'm there's not enough of it.

SPEAKER_01

Mentally fatiguing as much as anything.

SPEAKER_04

Like staying on top of times, I can't even I used to do it like I can't see when people are just scattered times, it's not a s it's not a sad routine, you know what I mean?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So it's like fucking I'd be over the place, man. Mrs. Be's like me, but everybody's in the game, like man, I'm down three today, and then next time I got a phone call, made him in the gym and I go fuck.

SPEAKER_00

I mean I do that Google Calendar so you get the wee pop up like an hour before, but you need it because you fucking you forget like it.

SPEAKER_04

Two weeks later forget, like it's not like set set up an hour, you know what I mean? If you're sitting on working hours, but then you take the classes. I'll take classes and everything here this morning, so you can t uh take them in at six, sad, eight and then home, got the child out of school, back in again, I've another class on here at one o'clock, and then this evening again.

SPEAKER_01

You wouldn't be in camp at the moment then though?

SPEAKER_04

Um scoot over, getting over, but I'll try and go over every second week or so just to keep myself ticking by train every day here. I've got all I've got this facility to fucking keep me ticking as well. Anyone who has a facility like this and doesn't train or a shamble ticket, you shouldn't be fucking. That's what I mean. There's what excuse if you get a train. Literally, you've got a fucking stable stable art facility.

SPEAKER_01

How do you how do you feel?

SPEAKER_04

What takes you to about Amsterdam? Sorry, pizza? Pizza, Pete's based on I saw what happened was Pete Pete just moved, literally just just m just got up and moved moved to uh um Amsterdam his wife, sir, she works for a lot, she works with like um like medical equipment, like very high-end medical equipment. All over Europe. Oh, let's city. So that's a class city. You know what? I've never been to Amsterdam until Pete moved there. Like as we were just talking about earlier, I didn't smoke weed, it wasn't fine hours.

SPEAKER_01

Or used to fight in Amsterdam. It was like we were out outskirts of today. Yeah. Lovely like lovely, like real green, real, real nice spot.

SPEAKER_00

Unbelievable.

SPEAKER_01

What space are we in, probably?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, they used to pull us like about four or five minutes out in the airport. Can't remember what you call the wee time, but it was it was absolutely unbelievable. Classly.

SPEAKER_04

Do you know see the beaches in Amsterdam? No, bitch, unbelievable. That asked the call, I'll show you the beaches. I was on TikTok showing the lads last week, you know, the Bronx Club lads, to see the bronze club, they were in here and I've seen honors lethal beaches, and I was not like fuck off. And I have an honor as I drove down on the beach with Pete. You wanna see the beaches? Unbelievable. Just like class, pure gold sound bitches. You had Katie in last week? Katie was over last week as well on the earth training and said her. Like, it's just so humble. Like she's looking at me going like like she's like she's watching my square going, whoa, whoa. Aye, like and I'm watching her squa going, whoa. Still like and then Pete, me and Pete are very like similar, high-weight coach, and that's why we work so well, we have a great understanding technically and tactically. So Kitty's spawner girl, Pete tells me to go into the girl's corner, and then we go back, and then we're giving instructions in the square, nothing's happening. Both girls are like waiting on the wait on the back leg, and then Pete says something, be pa I said, be patient, and Pete goes, Yeah, just wait, and then I look at Pete and I went, We've given the exact same instructions to both these girls, there was no punches thrown. Because it was like I was telling her to wait on P because she'll come she'll come over the front leg and then you can meet her. And then Pete told Kitty the exact same thing about the girl, and we looked at soff it off, and we're like, it's mad that you're like I'm in one corner, but it's pretty much. That's good for a coach, though.

SPEAKER_01

At least then like in between rounds of he you can obviously trust it everything.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, well I trust everything he says, like he thinks what he does like.

Katie Taylor’s Legacy And Women’s Boxing

SPEAKER_00

It's so good to have that because I thought I think we got that with Pat. I know I didn't know. Like, I don't know, just like a same like like Pat was on but like talking grappling because obviously Pat's grappling's unbelievable. She was like, Aye, that just it just makes sense. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Would she get a crowd partying, eh? Hoping so because I'll be on. I was thinking that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I'm definitely up. More of 99% chance I'll be on that if it goes ahead, so I'm fucking sending my prayers every night. Big shout out to that prize guy. Changing people's lives daily with massive prizes at stake. Shoot across their socials, check out what prizes are in store, and who knows, you may be the next lucky winner.

SPEAKER_03

Holy God, I'm a managor.

SPEAKER_04

That'd be unbelievable. I can't make just 80,000 people are looking at you, and they will sell you because of how it's an iconic history of that, you know. Is it Muhammad Ali the last time I ever have? Someone just cracked at me the other day, it was twenty-five thousand just the old crew park. It was eighty thousand people.

SPEAKER_01

I never have now.

SPEAKER_04

It'll probably I go as far as saying it'll never happen again. No, no way. Who could do it? Who could do it? I mean, and it's because Katie is It's because it's Kitty, she's the first ever woman. Like she's she's paved the way for women's boxing.

SPEAKER_01

Unbelievable.

SPEAKER_04

Like it's not even like like men boxing is hundreds of years old. Women's boxing is still brand new, like, you know. I think Katie's fucking the paved that way for everyone.

SPEAKER_01

She got them into the Olympics.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, she got them into the Olympics. It wasn't a thing, wasn't it? It wasn't a thing. Wasn't that never a thing in boxing? Unbelievable. And she that's what I mean by she literally paved the way, which means that's why she's such a superstar.

SPEAKER_01

Uh uh. She's so nice too, and so likable. So humble. And then just unbelievable. Her fights are fucking lethal. She's a she's a beast.

SPEAKER_00

I like the religious students. I they're always unreal.

SPEAKER_04

You see how I um focus sheep since she's just like it's small how everyone's different. No, like uh oh I I I don't get it. I just fuck about it. I feel like it's me, mate. Like people come in the night and room and they're like, secret, I'm just constantly fucking religious. Walking out to the bird. I've heard of the word at all. I just have a laugh. People are just so like zoomed in.

SPEAKER_01

I'm wild in that like fighting because there's a case conference there at the weekend, and I've only just joined Fight Academy in the last way I didn't know anyone, so it's kind of half like trying to like look at the boys warm up like the younger lads. I think I was meant to stay for the next game, but I wouldn't, I'd sneak out then and watch them face because like how do you see boys like how they are backstage in comparison to how they fight? You know, I find that like the fighters from Taliban Margus, you say everyone's so so so different.

SPEAKER_04

And it's like he even as if I if I was a coach, you have to do what your boxer wants to do because it's just go with it. You had to go with it. That's why I think Pat and Shando are amazing with all that. Like we all know the way Paul Hip Paul is. We've threatened Paul for like plenty of times in the unit, and we've we've done a lot, and even his visualization and the way he walks around, and they just let him have his space. Every fan is different. Every fan is different. And then if someone else, you have big probably mcquarry, probably actually with a rap music and just chill down and you run against one of us as that's it, absolutely.

SPEAKER_03

It's just uh ever's uh like a gesture that that um represents someone's personality.

SPEAKER_04

James Mom. Someone, eh? Someone just goes to show you like see if you had a toll potty like say six months ago, and I find it's all the time with people they'd say, we stop smoking grass, you'd be sucked to you beat the normal. He wouldn't believe that.

SPEAKER_01

I believe he actually doesn't.

SPEAKER_04

He's done it, he's probably gonna go fucking up there. 100%, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

100%.

SPEAKER_04

Different, different great.

SPEAKER_01

See the video of Fight Academy the week before? Uh his like thing I've got all the lads around.

SPEAKER_04

Lethal lads. What do you think, like being back? He's glad he's back.

Fight Night Mindsets: Rituals And Differences

SPEAKER_01

Oh unreal, I think you're like the two like wasn't that like uh unreal because especially now fucking fighting in Belfast, like just to be about the place, but yeah. Like I like I am the like when I was in the pool, like the lethal coaches, the lethal team out there, it wasn't that, but it just came to the point as like a half ready to move home as much as I lad. And my woman, she's Laura, she is a student nurse over there, but she's just got like two weeks left, and she's got her job sorted in the royal hair and the kids thing. So just how it all worked out. I think it meant to be, you know. She's she's from here and she's she's graduating gonna get a job, and I was I'd been in Liverpool for seven it'll been seven years now, like this week last, so long time, you know. So sometimes saying that uh change as good as the rest, to say just half spice things up, lads. And I went back and done a few just after I lost theirs, I took a few done a few classes with Shando and Adam and Pat and just lethal lad, absolutely lethal. So I thought fuck it, just time to go on.

SPEAKER_04

It seems like the lads like all the lads are like fucking way that they're stuck. That's my crazy high so hangy and amazing. Today's episode is sponsored by the Wings Society on the Lisburn Road, a place where you can get all things chicken. Tanders, chicken burrers, wings, amazing sauces, amazing flavour, sedin, takeaway. It's unbelievable, bro. Check it out. 3 3 Lisbon Road. When I compare the boxing, I've been boxing for like holy turnity. My box club opened in 1973. And that's like what fifty fifty odd years ago, sixty years ago?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Fifty years ago. You know what I mean? Yeah. So you're over like 55 years of boxing, uh a local boxing club is this like academy.

SPEAKER_02

Probably.

SPEAKER_01

Twenty thirty years maybe. Something like that.

SPEAKER_04

I mean I can't remember like hearing it chuckled and not even knowing that. What the fuck's that? But you actually like watch the technique of them guys. The standard is developed just as quick. Oh, like having so many backgrounds and crazy.

SPEAKER_01

I MA is like a style of its own now compared to like boxer grappler type thing. But even if you like do like grappling and MMA grappling on the fence, like how much it changes from year to year, like we things, like people just as stupid as it is fucking five years ago, like hand separation became a thing. Or it was just grip at like a two-on-one grip. People couldn't make a grip. But if you can't make a grip, it's hard to take a person down, it's hard to grapple, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like that wasn't a thing fucking six years ago. So the whole grappling game had to start now addressing these grips differently and just everything, Khabib's wee position, just the game changes year to year. Yeah. So much that on like a five-year period. Crazy.

SPEAKER_00

And it'll happen again. Like it was the legs of Hamza going to the sport, and he completely changed his grappling Khabib before hanging the sport. But somebody will come in next year. Yeah, exactly. And they'll change it to Poor. He's kind of changing wee bits with striking at the moment. Yeah. Like it just it changes every year.

SPEAKER_01

But it's going back more striking based, I think, because guys are getting really hard to well it isn't it to say that. It did there, it's kind of half going back to Ishlam Hamza, these guys now, but for a while it went, everyone was getting really good in the fence, really hard to take down, so it became more striking based, you know what I mean? So it kind of goes through pays I got.

SPEAKER_04

When you look at uh when you when you see Paul and your man in the Usman, there was like there was no grappling at all, right? I was going like for the first very special day, like I thought Eisman's just gonna try and grapple Paul. It's an anger thing too. That goes a shoe, like where there's a lot more th thought processing that I can't just go in here brain centered because Paul he's hard to take down and he's obviously defending against my strengths. Which is he knows angular crappling, so I need to do something different. Of course.

SPEAKER_00

That fight was uh that fight was so high level. Like we were what we were watching that, so we actually he fought and then we went out and we got into the VIP bit. Yeah. Both they're both. Both were so high level. But we came out for the sack one and we got to the VIP bit, and they were coming out with these fucking burgers and food, and we were sitting with it was actually unbelievable.

SPEAKER_01

Like other classes if you think about it, like see if you can't take a person down, there's nothing more turn. Like if you're just wrestling fucking wrestling, and you go down, he's done, you've you haven't hit him, you haven't actually landed any damage, you just bounce back up now, you're back to striking. 25 minutes a long time.

SPEAKER_04

So you have to like as a we don't know, we still do it as an amateur. Uh we I don't know that as an amateur, we still do it as a pro, we bet as a warm-up, like jump in the class, no? Nah, I don't want to. Well, like fumbling? I would just do it to the case.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_03

I said I don't understand the crap.

SPEAKER_04

I just score, I don't know what I don't know what like I don't understand the rules, so I do understand if it's someone's two points. Maybe I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

What I was saying was the game on you could probably have a third phone morning. What's your friend?

Moving Home, Team Changes, And Belfast Roots

SPEAKER_01

Cause the angles uh it's it's it's uh it's definitely like it's uh uh unless you're like you time it correctly, it's uh you you have to wrestle the right times because it's gays are just really good knocking hell down now, do you know I mean that's what everyone's everyone's gone can't prevent you from doing it. Even as you go up through the levels, like if you get takedowns, like it's not the hardest thing to get back up a lot of the time, isn't it?

SPEAKER_00

Like no, I mean you you cancel out we I had no closet the fundamentals like high level gays, they're just gonna be so hard.

SPEAKER_04

What is your background? There is no background, was it MMA, yeah. Just straight in the MMA from like no way. Because you know, like a lot of people come from like a PJ J background or like Potty was background. Paul was MMA or something, was it?

SPEAKER_01

He came to an MA, he seems to get football.

SPEAKER_03

We were similar, so we both they're the same sport, different name.

SPEAKER_04

I seen I seen one yesterday on Instagram, they were saying this is such and such, to give him his name, I forget it now, but uh he put his hands during a hurling game and they just stuck tape the the hurdle's hand. You never hit her in there, and then your footballers get millions millions of pounds for I wouldn't go to Hurdonfield. No way. I hit Huron to get out of school. I played Huron because it was about 16 like you play football, Gillick and Far Gillick and Huron. I played up to it was about sixteen or seventeen. Same injuries, probably injuries thumb, flat out.

SPEAKER_01

I wouldn't have heard of the same thing. Sword of God, eh? Told both of them? That's okay. Told both of them had them both repaired and told both of them gain.

SPEAKER_02

It's sh quite we both literally four S elders elders, I'm Madden.

SPEAKER_01

I know Matt. I know you wouldn't wish it'd be worse.

SPEAKER_00

We both left Gaillick from the injuries. Both both went to Webers.

SPEAKER_04

Like Herland was just uh I started fun. I loved Hurland at a certain stage in my life, like probably when I was about 13, 14, 15. And I just I think one of our teams one year was was shit. And 'cause we were all competing. St. John's my age group where they won the All Adams and all they were potatoes comedy. But we were always behind Ammons. And then we were all competing in Gordon Moore. And then we uh one year we just wanted to compete in St. John this year, they won the All Islands, and then the team just wasn't burning anyone showing up and I was like, fuck, I just interpret anymore. But I really love the gill like every time I box no items training and I had two step thumbs. And I was like, What the fuck? From Gillick? He was like, What are you doing? You're fighting the old islands and you're training for like what the pick one, you're daddy's been eating sixteen, he's like, Your daddy isn't how you need to decide. What do you want to do?

SPEAKER_01

So you're a boxing young young?

SPEAKER_04

No, I boxed it from the museum. I'm the first fight when I was here to go. So uh we all boxed all the brothers and also inevitable, like wanna be. All who's in there? All who's in there, yeah. All the champions. Some of these are just how they go. Well running, and if you look back now, even the the like the people who boxing a kick catchy, me, Kevin Hang, Crocker, Crocker, everybody just come in theater, you know, brought some some some good features to go fast. Fucking hell. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00

So when you come to war, was it like or just been like fundamentals? You can use all of them from that youngest fundamentals, fundamentals.

SPEAKER_04

I've got feet work very specific on like McElhose coaches, very like specific on feet work, feedback roles. You'll you'll look and see multi when you when you see a feature of Molis and you'll know the good feet work like just know their style again. And I I'm a firm believer that everyone knows how to throw their hands. Knowing how to throw your feet. Sorry. Anyone from a fucking background in sport or a background in a and uh you know a working class area, it's gonna know how to foot their hands.

SPEAKER_01

That's literally all Shanders been doing me for the last four months. Fucking game changer.

SPEAKER_00

But I would honestly say I went to Fed Academy and I would hit pads on Instagram and I you wouldn't look good, but anyone can look really good. But I would genuinely say I didn't have a fucking clue. Like started going to Shando Adam Donard just compl I had I didn't have I didn't have a clue. They were telling me stuff I was like, I had no idea. Didn't know any of this.

SPEAKER_01

We're starting a big Donner class tomorrow, he's good, hey, and they've been a big coach. That would have been I used to you before. In the old lad, was it?

MMA’s Rapid Evolution: Grappling, Striking, And Trends

SPEAKER_04

Up in the old unit, that was great. It must be ten years ago. When you look at the talent that was there, even like an old lad of ads probably didn't go on, but like you'd Patty and you'd you and you'd Paul and you'd me, you think you're Kate and Henge, Brace, even if Garrett, and now I said that some match some some serious like say if you had all that footage, you just finish it. Back then, um it wasn't really big for people very one size and so it wasn't. Like Patty's talking in the FC or racing the FC and me fucking fighting for caving and fighting for a tight eliminator. It's like you're going that was under one way roof at the top of the weight rug. And they're all like everyone was probably near enough base on West Belfast.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I remember you sat me with like whatever history it was, it was so many years ago. But you just sat me at the minor's like, fuck me, so mad. It was happening.

SPEAKER_04

The fighter's almost insane, like and it's like it's probably a wee It's uh like Belfast has got such a good reputation for fighting. Does that? And in both sports, like MMA and boxing. It's like for such a s see when you compare's in the in the sports.

SPEAKER_00

And you said yard and even Muay Thai now, too.

SPEAKER_04

Two lads are flannel. They're flannel. Two hard bastards.

SPEAKER_01

Hardest game you ever go watch my live Muay Thai, lads. I've seen it but have you ever been to Live Thai show?

SPEAKER_04

Never.

SPEAKER_01

She goes, it's the hardest sport in the world. It's the hardest sport in the world. Way hard in MS.

SPEAKER_04

I remember God telling me that wasn't score really.

SPEAKER_01

But it's eating the one now, they're using four-inch gloves, so you have to fit the box or you're gonna get fucking KO stiffly.

SPEAKER_04

You just take it. Yeah, not there.

SPEAKER_01

But I see them shin bones kicks in your in your like see after I fought I fought Atlantic City, you know, and I talk about his calf off and at the time I'm winning like fucking lethal, like his calf's gone, but see the next day, like my foot, my like from like the only way see if you like check a kick, the only way I always describe it was like, do you ever like catch your shin bone on the corner of a table or something? Intentionally 25 times hard as you can.

SPEAKER_04

That's what that's what a moy tie fight's like, like it's fucking see when you kick your shin bone and you're just like it makes me angry.

SPEAKER_00

I think Thai's the hardest game. I can't imagine it's all them boys are like uh so much it's not well paid on either, like it's a mad game.

SPEAKER_04

I was talking to I was actually talking to Gart last week and calf or getting a bit of food, he was sitting with his family and I was just we're just talking, he was like, mate, don't even bring him like 'cause I had the pay with a pile on. He's like, This is it, lad. He's like, what are you doing? I know try everyone.

SPEAKER_00

But they love it. They fucking love it, though.

SPEAKER_04

They love it and they're passionate about it. Even like we're MMA, I know, like obviously there's for boxers, box boxing get paid a lot more than until this day. Like in the case.

SPEAKER_01

Do you get paid like half half, no? Or is it just like a fake? We just paid. Aye. So we're paid to win and lose. Aye. You know what I mean? Half to lose, double the win. Aye, fuck me.

SPEAKER_04

We're like we we we've negotiated a contract and it's paid about us. That's it, should be. I remember like Sean Malley last week saying about Connor Benn. Look, this what do you think of? He used Connor Benn. He hadn't he genuinely some British guy they're gonna maybe use the face of like he's like, I've never had 15 million fucking paycheck in my life. Literally some upwards. I know everyone knows who Sean O'Malley is. Literally a film. You know what I mean? And that's it.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't know what your thoughts are, but I like Connor Ban's obviously like a juice head in a fucking decade that way, like, but I think promoters do this every single month. Like what one time for I think for him fucking fair play. I don't know. I would do this. I understand where people come to the case. He should have given him a call, definitely think.

SPEAKER_04

But like I don't know the ins and outs of it, but I do I do know that Addie Hearn stuck banned when he was literally a cheap.

SPEAKER_01

That is true.

SPEAKER_04

And I don't know if that was for a game, I don't know if that was for Eddie's own personal gain, because he was going, I can make money off him eventually if I can get him back. Right. But it's still a gamble because what if he doesn't? I know. And he's lent his family money because he had no money because he wasn't performing, he wasn't fighting. You know what I mean? So Addie lent the money to get through at time, and and he was always chatting in on. Like from what I've seen, I watched that he's we talked about you swatched it, the one by the way. That's very good. You can see it where he's sort of checking around Connor. Not not just about the charges, but actually chatting on, see how he is and how you're feeling. And and I'm going, maybe there's really like there's a bit of a relationship between them two where they're actually friends outside of boxing. So that is a case that's bought because you go, fuck me, over a couple extra couple of million because he's still like a lot of people.

SPEAKER_01

He's making I heard he made it near 20 odd million from the two.

SPEAKER_04

How much more do you want?

SPEAKER_01

Literally, like you can't spend how much money do you need.

SPEAKER_04

I've already said the podcast every week, and I'm probably sick and repeating myself. It's like footballers who leave the Premier League to go and play in Saudi Arabia for fucking a million a week. Like you can't spend it. Nah. Your your fucking great great great great grandkids couldn't spend it, and they're not gonna get a chance to spend it. So what more do you want? Like you've got like Ronaldo has hotels, he's fucking yachts, he's airplanes. Well, like what more do you want? Literally.

SPEAKER_01

I thought it was a bit mad because like promoters do that like to fighters all the time. Absolutely. Even the UC leg, like they're not through completely ruthless, like business, like it's a bit mad at the whole another way, like people being it's data white, it's probably just data white trying to get on top, isn't it?

SPEAKER_00

He's trying to take over the biggest.

Pay, Promoters, And The Business Side

SPEAKER_04

Nah, but it's but that was a dig back. That's a big back, isn't it? And then away it's a first he'd piss up your back and tell you it's really you know what I mean. That's why you know it's like him that's coming out days ago, him and Molly McConnell first did the meter Davy with 12 grand or something dollars. And he's like, what the fuck?

SPEAKER_01

I guess he can't believe it's like he was on an air last night. He's like, I couldn't.

SPEAKER_04

I was on our last night, that's true. Yeah, but like PFL, they are they they'd be better paying than uh UFC multiple times over the yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well I think it's just the percentage that PFL put back into their fetters. What is the UFC? The UFC, the percentage they actually the sort of profit they make from their fights compared to what goes back into the fetters is like an actual mad number. Like, but PFL obviously invests more into the Feders, so even like the thought of it. Yeah, it's just that they're trying to do it.

SPEAKER_04

It's mad it's like why would anyone want to go to UFC?

SPEAKER_01

It's it's it I think people are starting to kinda half-click that way. I think it could start to.

SPEAKER_04

Do you ever have any ambition of ever going back to the UFC?

SPEAKER_01

Not right now, Lil. Not right now, I know. If they get the PFL belt, like you're not making that in the UFC. Like, unless you get the UFC belt, which is obviously there only is one champion of one, which is obviously very, very, very hard to do, but the way they treat me, like I even I lost and I got a very big pay raise for this one, next, which is 100%.

SPEAKER_04

So you're still living in the C where we look at it, it's a business, it's a financial benefit yourself financially.

SPEAKER_01

That's a very short game, lad.

SPEAKER_04

Like, fuck the titles. I have stuff I don't even look where are my titles up in the studio. I don't know where Lannapper, Baltsanipper. People be sent me selfies, old time got your brime like whatever you want word. You're there's fuck all me, or people need deep, you know what I mean.

SPEAKER_01

See, when I was young growing up with that that what you I stupidly wasn't even thinking that way. Should have been more.

SPEAKER_04

That's the only advice I would give the kids now. It's like fuck the titles. Like when I was so I remember asking Patty Barnes a question and Glasgow's like, he does the lot, he was doing the ladder, and he was like, Oh, I fucking know in the ladder. I was like, I'd rather win a world title or a lot of he says it's the ladder. I mean, you've literally crafted your whole life. Like, you've fucking murdered yourself. You've you've made weight. Patty was the worst for making weight, so we had a cut serious weight down to 48 kilos. Like we had the Olympics back to back. So we've done the Olympic cycles, and that's fucking 12 years, like 12 years cycle, like you know, uh at that high, high level, uh, making 48 kilos, coming down from 62, 63, like murdered himself for years. And uh he's not that small, but like he's always not that small.

SPEAKER_03

Um he did you know.

SPEAKER_04

But he uh he I say what you're nuts, you'd rather oh that sacrifice you made for your whole life, and you'd rather I mean if you want a world title and you got like say you got a quarter of a million, you'd not rather add there than the lottery says fuck quarter million, that's world title, I want the lottery. And now I know what he means. I was like now even started and didn't have my own family, and then and I was like, what? See the more heck of the fuck world title, pay me, pay me, and that's literally what Connor Benz do. He's literally like he's not worth something. He's making more than I work. He's making more than 80% of world champions, and he's not even a world shopping himself. You know what I mean? The only ones you're you're making more than was obviously like the licks of canalo and and the big names like that probably.

SPEAKER_00

But I think now loyal loyalty does serve you a long way.

SPEAKER_04

That's what I mean. Like I like for me, I don't know the real and this, but from what I'm reading, what way I sort of half know the relationship. I thought it was a a a bad one or bad half like because like I say how much more do you want? Literally. Like, alright, so if a box and give me$15 million, I just want to give me$10 million. Literally, like for actually five million dollars worth of what are you gonna get with it? Yeah, you know what I mean.

SPEAKER_01

Do you not have a promoter and you just do your own?

SPEAKER_04

No, I just I have a promoter, is it big as he from GPM? Um, actually had three fight with him, but no one would give me an opportunity for last year. I said laughing up. So it's sort of again loyalty. I'll just I'll I'll keep him involved somehow, like somewhere. Him and I thought Monte Carlo was on a match room show and I was sort of I was back before my match room nick, but I kept Izzy involved. I brought him over and you know Captain Er's part of my team, like so I used to keep him involved and he he's the later. And again, I say is any show he's gonna do fucking keep me involved. Like if you're gonna be able to do it.

SPEAKER_01

I see you saying that with the Olympics. I see Patty makes weight at 48. Does he weigh in every morning? Every morning, like five days a week.

SPEAKER_04

If he fights five to five fights, he's the way in before M five five. And then fight him for fucking a whole lot day or the whole and that's why I see being honest with you, Patty will tell this himself. That's mental. That's why it was so good. It's just he just bothered people. He just beat people up. Because the weight wasn't wearing on people. He he he was just so big. Uh yeah. And he had such a talent for just keeping doing it. And like so, so mentally.

SPEAKER_01

That's a talent mental toughness is a skill.

SPEAKER_04

He he got in that ring and he was see like the times I've seen Patty making weight the night before wearing and he's like and he's think he looted over, and I'm like, What the fuck? How do you want to just hear like and he looted and he probably looks back on after fight? Go on fit, straight off, swatch it, and do it all again that night.

SPEAKER_01

That's mental. Go asleep.

SPEAKER_04

That is mental early sleep, wake up, bone drive, way in, do it again, one again in the middle. T has gold medals, silver medals, bronze medals.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That's mental toughness. Ten years. And then I asked him, we are in the laddo.

SPEAKER_03

Who in the world tell you says we're in the lotto?

SPEAKER_01

Big change in the amateur is the pro boxing. Oh, big time, big time.

SPEAKER_04

I I actually was talking about this yesterday. It's like it's very hard to for anyone to prepare gonna do pro boxing, because you you think it's just pro boxing and you spar pro boxers and you like I spar amateurs and a lot of times they made a lot of hard work. Like hardcraft, because they're different sports and they're a different threshold of like they're going at a high taboo, different taboos. It's when you get in the ring, you smoke gloves. And I may I know people buy eight inch gloves, MA or four four-inch or whatever it is, but I'm like, but each gloves you can't. The knuckles basically the same ladder.

SPEAKER_00

I think 100%. I remember we were in uh when we were over in Liverpool and we pull on them weekly, don't we? Setting the box when they're in the 90s or so. Definitely worse than a four-inch glove, I think.

Training Loads, Sparring, And Damage Management

SPEAKER_04

Because they're pure hard lather and like it's like you're bigger fish. It's like you're fucking getting hit by a baseball bottom. See you like getting a bad Johnny Man something, you're like, whoa, fuck me. And something it's it's all you have to do is look at people's faces after like a an examination job. If you look at someone's face getting bothered in like um MMA or whatever sport, you like even burn all these slides be cuts everywhere, but their face won't be demolished. Uh like in boxing, like even if you look at Kaylee Taylor and Maddus Reno fake the two of them are so much. They're two women big bumps, big bad fucking big hyperbock, you know what I mean? And that's like when you're trying to tell people when they're turning pro, that's that's like the big difference. It's like, oh like I firmly believe amateurs, elite amateurs are much more skillful than elite pros.

SPEAKER_01

I love watching.

SPEAKER_04

Much better but the difference is they need to be harmonic, it's hard. Oh let's go, we need to have a way better like attitude, and you'd like to be negative, let's go. Because you can't throw at that pace, you can't throw like three, four phases in between attacks for throw, like see pro box in between attacks a bit of ten seconds before you throw a punch, you'd be like, just not out. Because if you overreach and caught, bang, game over. If you were reaching how much you caught, you're getting caught by closing, touch back in, you're stripped back in again.

SPEAKER_00

Aye.

SPEAKER_04

You know what I mean? So it's like trying to report it. Like going forward, and I only want that would just say create a profile for yourself, you're fucking. Million Zan can't stuff on the go.

SPEAKER_00

Megan doing as little as you can if you go hovers what you can, isn't it? Maybe not the only phone.

unknown

Just a kick off.

SPEAKER_03

Whack on the bottom. But a grappling on the weird grappling on the whatever they did.

SPEAKER_01

Whatever they did. I don't know, just I don't really talk to a pro boxer, but say if you're like you've got a 12-round title fight, are you sparring twelve rounds then every time?

SPEAKER_04

I'll do I'll start off camp like six, I'll do like start off six, like very early in the camp. Six eye. Six two two weeks, two weeks, or maybe the first week do two, six rounders just to get it back in. And then up to eight, and then do two weeks of eights, and then probably two weeks of tens, and then one last bar, and then least bar, twelve.

SPEAKER_01

I like only for example, you only do twelve once aye. If you do ten you twelve on the on the night.

SPEAKER_04

That's what damage is, that's from CP. That's what I thought. Yeah, that's the one. And in in a cap you do a hundred plus rounds spawn. Right. In a fate, you fight twelve rounds, or you fight a five-five or a three five. Three five. You know, whatever it is, uh like that's you're in the ring for 15 minutes. Or you're in the ring for ms on end theater to full cap. Million percent, eh? So it's like there's no need to be done any more than you need to do, and that's that's why feet work's very important. Uh I I don't I don't really get hit that much because of feet work. I grapple a lot.

SPEAKER_01

If I take a big shot and spawn, I am wrestling that rest that's bar. 100%. I'm not gonna hit again. Oh, hundred percent. I'm not joking with it.

SPEAKER_04

Sometimes it's better.

SPEAKER_01

I'll be a sneezer, but I'm because you go right, that's it, I'm not gonna hit again. Uh yeah, yeah. See if I go home with a headache or something like that, that actually annoys the fucking me that joking.

SPEAKER_04

No, I'm the same. I've like when I go in the ring, I like wake myself up before I fit out, bit the face of myself, bit the rise myself, and I go, that's it. He's not gonna hit me anymore, nut. That's how I tell myself. That's my goal today. That's good anymore, Nut. I just go like and then I go, that's it, he's not gonna hit me anymore, Nut. And then I go in the ring and then that's just good to wake yourself up, isn't it? Ah, I just give you up E. Cause sometimes you'll hit and you won't fuck. No, you go fuck. We've been waking up.

SPEAKER_01

I have I have that in fights too, or I didn't I'm uh I actually know because you talk about the Warner guy, I think now I'm the stage where I have to be almost sweat and then go bum end it. You know what I mean? Yeah. So don't fucking lose the first round of win.

SPEAKER_04

You're not gonna end flat, you're gonna in like as if you've already hit you rather than it.

SPEAKER_00

So you say at your stage on like you've probably found, like say before, fight like that perfect bit where like oh that works me as a warm-up.

SPEAKER_04

I just cr I just don't do running, I just cross seriously. I don't have a specific thing, like I just kitty Katie was over there, like Kitty was going to me last week, uh like she's going she was uh looking at me like going something not really like jump in the spawn, she was like, I was like, Oh, I'm gonna do eight grands here. And she was like, right, okay. You spawn them with trainers? I was like, I like how you run and shoes was just yeah, really. I don't care, I just that's the last thing I'm thinking about when someone calls him hit me.

SPEAKER_00

I well so like I when I when I thought, remember I thought Alexander Solvan. And I was I remember we were going so the the cord was completely fuck up. We actually thought they might have the method something behind it, I can't have to us, but I literally was going for I was going for a piss backstage, but I was literally going to the toilet and Alex is standing there ready to go. He's not thinking this constantly looking at me fucking like pausing the go and I think what's going on here. But I'm in the toilet, next thing fucking banging the toilet, Keelan comes into me. And he goes, He goes, you need you need to get out of here. I I said, You need to come on. I goes, what? He goes, You're fighting in five minutes. I go to the door after what are you doing? We'll not go there, we'll not talk about it. You have to go as a great fucking we have to go then. I ran down the stairs, put on the gloves, but like probably never felt bad. You're still in the overthinking. It worked out well. Stephanie. Somebody's overthinking like somebody's overthinking. Like, I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

I don't overthink it. I think I just get in and like as we were saying about the preparation for the weeks and weeks before is that nothing I always tell a story and I've told people the listeners are probably gonna hear it again. But when I went when I fought Barboza, we got there and it was a I do a drug test before the fight. So as soon as I arrived, then I had to sign in. And New York Commission was never done this before, made me do a drug test before the fight.

SPEAKER_01

I always did.

SPEAKER_04

And after the fate. So from the first second I walked through that door, which was five hours before my fight, they made me do a drug test, and I wasn't allowed to eat anything else again from then until after my fight. Before the fight? Nothing. So I was in the ring. That's a joke. And I smell a weed all the fucking arena in the bark of the street.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you're not allowed to eat.

SPEAKER_04

Do you know what I mean? So there's people from the New York State Commission in the chain room with me, and anytime anybody pissed, they come to piss with me. I'm only allowed to drink their water that they prevailed, sealed water, and I'm like, right, and I went to lift out like chingum. No, no, you're not allowed to nothing.

SPEAKER_01

That's madly.

SPEAKER_04

Because I could be contaminated. So I was getting in the ring starving. But people most people in my situation would go, fuck it. I just wanted I was there. Cool with it. I just wanted I've sparred faster than loads of things. And that was confident preparation of me driving to Dublin with just a coffee in me.

SPEAKER_01

Many were just like.

SPEAKER_04

Like getting up, going to the gym in the morning, coaching in here, getting in the car, driving to Dublin, for a coffee, my black coffee, sparring ten rounds, spottering something, something in the car and driving home with you. I've done this in my whole fucking camp. Yeah, that's deadly. So it didn't phase me on the night.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just now thinking I think like wherever I'm at, just go with it. If I if I feel I wake up and look, I'm thinking I actually can't even half be bored, like fuck up, just go with. If I fuck up, feel all tense, dude. I don't try to force it. I just remember it is laugh.

SPEAKER_04

Because your body knows.

SPEAKER_01

Because you'd be in the gym, being in the middle of the year. And you probably experformed really well.

SPEAKER_04

Sometimes I fucking allight fucking spar around over and I bother somehow. And it's like it's almost like I've got an excuse in case I could find it.

SPEAKER_01

John Jones, John Jones did. Used to go out a week before, he'd have built an excuse to his head. He'd go get blacked out drunk. I think.

SPEAKER_04

Because if he gets beat, then he goes, oh well, that's before he's on the drink. But then he didn't get beat. Because it was like he didn't crowd, it's just nice. Just nuts off.

SPEAKER_01

I was just nutshell.

SPEAKER_00

I the one place I can't, like even in here, although it's like fresh air, but like I can't be dying in a gym, like my oh my I couldn't think of anything worse than go to the Fred Academy and Sporting Paul Hughes for the hangover.

SPEAKER_01

Deep in the valley.

SPEAKER_04

I thought loads of times loads of there's been tens of people smelling drink off me, they're going like fuck me that I remember one day.

SPEAKER_00

We went uh we went to Anne McNally's fucking Ayrshire May legend, doing it from the very start, and we went to his, but I was only starting, like I was 17, and we done what seemed us back then like mad rounds. We'd done like 10-2s, wasn't anything mental now. Like, but we went in and I was absolutely dying, but I got through the spar, but I got any other coach would fuck you off for then. Look, but we got there, got through it, and I go through that then when I go, I was obviously then. He goes, Hey, but you did it.

SPEAKER_03

You're not today it's a Sunday morning. Are they getting a day for King? I've earned it.

SPEAKER_04

Um I said fuck it's cool. You're your fate obviously coming up. Um we bit of a rough start your PFL career last time, but uh as you say, with with Fred Academy and things going smooth again.

SPEAKER_01

Brand new lad. Words of big Patty McCrory, brand new. That's what I keep saying. That's what I miss. Yeah, I'm using my we matter just news, a lot of news, lad. Obviously, new gym, new new teammates, new coaching, new new city, new object. Everything is brand new, so I'm I I'm I'm I'm liking it. And then even just like to be I've only fought in Belfast one time as a pro. Yeah. Actually, time Reach won the Keys Wars title down in this season, but even like fucking in in the saunas or cave shots, people asking you when are you fighting? I'm like, oh fucking fighting in Belfast. Like so it's just it's dead, like but no big fight fighting. I was meant to I was meant to have a very, very, very hard fight. We're meant to be 'cause on a fucking Thursday night, isn't it? It was meant to be in Boston.

SPEAKER_04

So it's because I've actually news too, and you just were telling me Boston. That's right, you're saying someone a couple of weeks later, one of my lads is like, oh Paul, killing their fight in Boston, like, oh no, it's against.

SPEAKER_01

That's why it's they've kept that like TV slot for ESPN. So the main car is not gonna it's not as late as people think because people say, mash me think it's gonna be 3 a.m. But it's not. The main car starts at midnight and there's only three fights in it, so it'll be over like 1, 1.30, something like that.

SPEAKER_00

It's not too bad. That's not that bad. That's quite common, like I said.

SPEAKER_01

Long weekend. Friday on the face lad, you know. I can't wait, my friends.

SPEAKER_04

I have to say Guinness, and then you're Saturday and all three Guinness, Sunday, North Guinness. We're back to the biggest.

SPEAKER_00

You've made the Sunday, so I don't know if I'll make it a Sunday.

SPEAKER_01

I definitely I could drink every day of the week for an alcoholic for fucking but uh but not good for 'cause I meant to fight fucking this on the feat well 16-1, but like you he Sorvajan Hamadoff, he won that fight that he lost, and then he wrestled fucked away, he just didn't do much damage, so he got penalised for it, but he was number six in the world. But he's like dominantly beat number five, and that loss he had was number four, so I think he was actually number one or two in the world. I was meant to fight him, but then you know we need we need like an American working visa, which I was sorting for Boston, but apparently he needs a visa for here or something. Oh, right, which I didn't even know. Didn't know that, I don't know, fuck, but he's maybe because he's Russian River. Yeah, they scrapped it and they give me Al now, so like a local guy, which is good because no one knew that Russian cunt was.

SPEAKER_04

I know this is good, like it's good. So I can fight like a local guy. As I say for the week back in Belfast, it's fucking classes. I mean, it's good 'cause you I'm sure he'll bring a a good old sport over he did the last time. He did, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

They are mad, they're mad. Remember we used to go to those old fights? I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Because football back in the day would have been like one of the top kids from around here, like would have fought like the you'd have been one of the bad this is ten, eleven years ago, like I'd have been the crowd watching football time, like it's fifty pro fights. But not a good fight, lad, and obviously you'd be back back and battle stuff will be lethal like, can't wait.

SPEAKER_00

I haven't decided yet. No, I'll look at that one now. He wants the money. No, do the corners. No fuck. No, I'll definitely not be I'll definitely be working, but I don't know, I don't really like I don't really like doing this corner. I don't mind it, but it's I'm sure you know yourself. Corner, you'd draw I'd rather just watch it on my own 10 third of the room.

SPEAKER_04

If someone you're so like engaged, people are talking you're like fuck like that.

SPEAKER_00

I'm completely irrelevant anyway. I don't even really shout, I'm just watching fucking do you know what I mean? Like I don't really you're not really picking stuff up as you're going, so you may as well just let probably let Pat shound on Adam work away that.

SPEAKER_04

Are you competing anytime soon or that's correct what you no?

SPEAKER_00

I'm I'm done competing, but uh coach coaching like mad still in the sport, like so enjoy it.

SPEAKER_04

There's a lot of you still have to do a lot of yourself as a coach and all like as I say, you were saying earlier, Pat and stuff, Pat being problem. You have to be the game changes, you have to be. Like, because you still have to do the rounds. Aye, you know, you used to have to teach, you still have to put podcast out of business.

Trust In Coaches And Game Planning

SPEAKER_00

Not at all. Hey, I swear I'd tell you one thing me going the path and even getting into coaching now, it's the best thing. I don't know, you could not that it's all meant to happen, but like if without Fed Academy, I would be fucked up. It's a very different way of looking at fights and just shows specific to the details. And even I wasn't even in Fed Academy, like I was only like two years. It seems so much longer, but like it's giving me a it's given me a potential career in coaching.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Which is which I didn't even think I could have done from leaving thing like, to be honest.

SPEAKER_04

He grew up with me, right? Did he? He had no interest in boxing or like he his his manage to bring him down the third floor is to us. And he was out of his third floor. You know what I mean? We we were all boxing and we're all head cases and he was quiet and he just he went over, but he was he was a good lad like Brennan fella, he was always with us. But he just had no interest in backing like in boxing or sport. He had absolutely no interest in sport, and then a couple of years like a couple of years later, he's like, I don't know, he's a better coaching. I was like, what the fuck that come about? Because they just never came into our boxing club. He like he was probably maybe him and one other fella, or mates, he never went to boxing, and he just never ever ever wanted to go. He never played football, he never played killing, he never played hurling. Probably a wee bit here and there in the street. Like if two we were pla playing an athlete in the street, football, he wouldn't play. You know what I mean? He didn't he just didn't have no background in sport and I see him now. He's class on the path. He's legal, his technique.

SPEAKER_01

I just talked to him about technique and you take away.

SPEAKER_00

We were at the Devon Star I said uh we're in that cage conflict thing, and uh Adam was watching one of the fights beside us, and one of the boys is coaching all week or all year, sorry. Adam was shouting just like we coaching things, and then they broke off in the clinch and Adam just screamed, go to the body. Yeah. I think Jimmy, I think Jimmy broke off buying cracks in the body, down. It was one of them coaching moments. As if he won a fight, he went mental, and it gives you that.

SPEAKER_01

He runs that kids thing then. Oh I think him and Henry. I was fucking 140 kids fighting.

SPEAKER_00

It's unbelievable.

SPEAKER_04

I thought I'd be that up there a couple weeks ago before Henry, you're fucked out. Did I did Trimble?

SPEAKER_01

You'd be like, it's hilarious by seeing the news.

SPEAKER_04

He's like he's five, he's fucking Aiden just taxed me. It was like a parents group chat, and me and big Stephen Gillen and all us, Jim Collin and the Genlies and stuff outside just talking. And then Aiden uh taxed in that group chat, but I wasn't in the group chat. Stephen Gill met me. He made one each other, he's running, he's running mook in there. So I was like, what the fuck? And then next thing the crowd me and she was like, You may go and get your son, he's just he's nuts. I see it. He's like you.

SPEAKER_03

That's his MMA clear overnight.

SPEAKER_04

You take a lot over the boxing, but just I don't remember because he's not out of the box until he's eight. Oh, you don't like it in short. Oh yeah, not though.

SPEAKER_00

It seems like eight is that it that's what is also. Or it seems like eight is that I never realized it.

SPEAKER_04

It's probably because they're straight and involved or like upper like PV games and just wrestle, but there's no headshots for them. When I was fighting, when I was eight, it was proper fighting like you're bothering each other.

SPEAKER_01

Then sometimes I think that they get bad habits with no headshots or stuff. What do you mean?

SPEAKER_04

They can't pull away, like hit the earth, etc.

SPEAKER_00

Well that's what I was so I was I've coaching the teens now, the teens class up in our doing's house, and even fed. I mean all the teens are flying about that.

SPEAKER_04

But they're all punching to the body and they're all punching like don't step back to do where I'm like no actually go in your stance and fucking go at it, but go to the body, like I try and tell people this often, even like professional fetters, like even my naffy used to do it like you should box against like moving, moving, boxing, trying to pull away. Like it's kind like you can say you're trying to count. I don't mind like the more safer you are, the closer you are to the opponent. So like you need to commit. Like I go towards it. Because if you're gonna slip a phone, people slip like this and slip like this, and we'll slip towards it. Because if if the punch is coming and you can go where, even if it blazes you, yeah, it's not gonna hurt you. But if you slip here and it hits you here, it's gonna knock your head back. Like try and get close to the target and slip inside the target. So even when you commit, it's like commit, don't like go pull away while trying to commit to something, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Jinky will do coaching after?

SPEAKER_04

Oh definitely, 100%. Oh coaching holiday, like um 100%, and then like McE they they love have me up, or sometimes I'll go up and take a size in the night.

SPEAKER_00

That was unbelievable, and just to be coaching queues, like the experience and stuff for trying to make a I remember I know when I was leaving fighting, so I was obviously raging the time, but it was actually Adam said to me, He's like, you'll get as much hay from coaching one of your I don't know, one of your students or comedy for private server than you'll get from your wins, and I was like a load of balls, I go to but I swear we actually went the other day to the teen show and I coached the lad Oli because he's actually flanzy. I'm s the time coming through in Belfast is actually insane. We were just coaching this sequence from get up to the back to choke and he got it. And I it was like I it was like you want to fight, it's fucking fun real, like it's class.

Focus On The Next Fight And Stakes

SPEAKER_04

Nah, but I'll definitely go into it. Like Daphne wanna retire and I'll I'll just go and coach like it's fine, like obviously up in Holy Sun. I'll just work over a couple of days a week to bring the kids and then it's a time consuming too, like, but I'll try and I'll fit it in, like, and uh because it's definitely one million percent or something. I'll be it'd be a s a cent of it in the knowledge that's a lot of people. And I'd say me and Pete Taylor work so well together, and he like for me I think he's the best box coach in the world league. Is he lethal life just unbelievable? Like you've seen even Katie, Katie's last fight against the Montestrano's never got it once. Because Pete done her camp before, you know, he he he he done all her camp, give her all our tactics, made her work on stuff from afar. And you've seen the difference. The first two fights were wars completely once.

SPEAKER_00

Is the difference with him like, I don't know, like because you're boxing so long, is like him like picking up like I don't know what your opponents do instead, let's link planning for that, or just like we fall still.

SPEAKER_04

Like if Pete tells me to do something in a spar or in a in a in a fight, he'll show something and he'll see something and I'll do it. And nine times out of ten it works, and and and because it works, I have so much trust in him. So say if he tells me to throw a punch that I never throw or a combination that I never threw, like let's say you go like double attack, like double attack, half step, and then go again, I don't do that. I go, I'll give it a go. Boom, boom, boom, and it works. There's a reason why you always say a toolie. That's a reason why. So I go, I can't see it in here, you can see it from out there. That's the last side. So like if he says something I do it instantly, and and and that's a difference, that's what you need in your million percent lads. Until you get that and you're coaching, like you you'll you'll probably get that now, but they gotta be sparked with pot and shandel and Adam and when they're fucking saying it's working, they're gonna fuck us working.

SPEAKER_01

No, there's a lot was sparring the minute that even Hughes watch them around Sunday, they're saying like it's but you have to do it on Friday, it doesn't matter if it's in the gym. You don't get paid by doing it in the gym, so it's a store, doesn't it? It's definitely it's definitely a start.

SPEAKER_04

And then if you're on basin, you just you're on basin now, but you love like on basin uh obviously coming from you seeing the PFL on basin now it'll be PFL champion has to be.

SPEAKER_01

A million percent has to be coming from the level of thought that a hundred percent has to be PFL champion, but I've been a victim of thinking ahead before. Yeah, just don't stop with that. I'd like three fights this year, but it starts with Alan Philbott and five weeks or not.

SPEAKER_04

That's why I look at look at things like I have to win every single fight. Have to?

SPEAKER_01

Snakes ladders.

SPEAKER_04

I don't want people to go, I'll worry something I go hack about my next fight when I don't know what we fuck all. So I've got that so if I don't if I don't win my next fight, it's game over. That's the way I look at it because for me like literally isn't it? If I don't win that's it. That's a lifetime of fucking sacrifice, so it's my next fight and it makes me people go probably a bit pressure on yourself, like being so harsh on yourself. I don't know. That's the reality of it. And it makes me perform because I know I have to win and that like I don't get hit. That's my hit me.

SPEAKER_01

Literally aye. I said that there's only like I don't just have to win this, I have to like literally I have to stop 'em, half to half, I think it was uh 90 names once you'll submit on fill up, but that's the way I'm looking at it. Half the win, not just when you have to show that you're a level above them, or else you're probably not fucking good enough. That's the way that's the way I look at it. No, that's exactly.

SPEAKER_04

Not working. Hey, hide height.

SPEAKER_01

If you're working, you're the tightest bastard. I like sneak the badge off for one bike. One fit. No, the good height, good night.

SPEAKER_04

It's different, but I ain't gonna get it's classy. In the productions PFL back on the butt like what a fucking time like for Belfast and for the Paws are a tough fight to have fucking JJ's good lake.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that'll be class.

SPEAKER_00

He can't prospects, he's like a hat, he's a strong Mary.

SPEAKER_01

What's like the old backs, the rugby? Uh he does the whole thing.

SPEAKER_00

So we're gonna be a big thing. I swear, one of the best we ever had chapter was that time in Dubai. So we went out to old Dubai and it was actually JJ Wilson. JJ Wilson, JJ Wilson, yeah, he we went out and he was fighting, and he comes out in a Maury, whatever their Maury thing is.

SPEAKER_01

It's like fucking tribal thing like quilt or whatever it was.

SPEAKER_00

He came out wearing this and he done the hacker, and we were sitting old by I was like, this is absolutely all the rush started laughing and I got real thick.

SPEAKER_01

I said, You shut the fuck up. I was like, it's fucking cool. Unreal.

Closing Thanks And Sign-Off

SPEAKER_00

They're passionate about their country and their and their background and all the same, he'd probably face you know that I'd say they'll do like a face-off down maybe by the SSE and they'd probably do that. That'd be classic.

SPEAKER_04

Unbelievable, unbelievable, but I'm I'm really looking forward to it.

SPEAKER_01

No, good card, eh? Big big nice, good card.

SPEAKER_04

Well look, listen, lads, appreciate you coming on. I've probably took it up a lot of your times that man there was down to get back to work. Fucking work for everybody. But I appreciate you coming on, lads. Appreciate it.

SPEAKER_00
