So, I'm excited to hear. And welcome to the Lethal Library. We didn't even get that far. I just started chatting about We just gotta get into it sometimes. I know. I just was chatting about my, weekend, so. I'm going to be telling, it's a, it's a very sad story, a sad story. Okay. But the convict here is named Alfredo Martinez. Alfredo. It's a more recent one. Love the pasta. Hate, hate the murderer. He's bad, dude. You had to do it. I love it. I had to do something. But for you guys that might podcast. My name is Stephanie. I'm Dani, and we like to focus on cases, especially in the Idaho and Pacific Northwest area. Dani does a ton of research on these people, and so often, they are dumbass criminals. And so, we have a little drink while we talk about it, and we hope that you enjoy. But, I want to hear this. I'm going to take you back to just ten years ago. This is the most recent one. Yeah. Wow. Okay. in 2014. Oh my God. On August 18th, 2014, Selena Thomas's mother, Lori Moon, called her work trying to locate her. They couldn't, nobody had heard from her. And after this call from her mother, her co workers decided to drive over to Selena's house to look for her, see what's going on. They were concerned like, okay, she didn't show up. Mom's looking for her. Yeah, something's going on. They found her car in the driveway of her house with the keys in the ignition Along with her purse on the front seat. Not good. Never good. No They reached back out to Selena's mother and then she called the police after going over there and looking at the car and the purse and And also she had spotted some blood near the trunk of the car Extra not good. Selena Dawn Thomas was born on November 3rd, 1977, and she had her son Alex in 1995 and she absolutely adored him. He was her like star, everything. Yeah, it was, that was her life. Her son had just recently graduated from high school. and Selena was an outdoor lover. I did go take a peek at her Facebook and she was. Fishing, riding bikes, camping, and she killed it on the fishing. I love that. That was her favorite thing. Fisherwoman. Same. Dani's a fisherwoman. For those of you. So, she really just loved being outdoors. and she was beautiful too. Beautiful, beautiful, We've done so many cases that there was not social media. This is our first one with social media. And it's kind of heartbreaking to be like, Oh, I checked out her Facebook. This is wild. And it's, I'll, I'll talk a little bit more about that later, but it is just disturbing to know what I know. And then see her, her post and her Facebook. Yeah, it's, so Selena, age 36, was reported missing by her mother. When Selena's boyfriend, 39 year old Alfredo Martinez, was asked about her whereabouts, he had told family and friends that he and Selena had been in McCall over the weekend. Martinez went to speak with the Caldwell Police Department on August 23rd after learning the police wanted to question him about her disappearance. Martinez was then arrested on a parole violation. When his parole officer learned he was not where he was supposed to be, and he didn't have consent to be out of district. So, the man's on parole, I don't know if he was arrested because he had said that he was in my call, or if he was in Ada County versus Canyon County, I'm not, those details aren't clear. But they're like, oh, you have a probation violation, and your girlfriend's missing. So we're just gonna They're gonna take

just a few days before Selena went missing, Martinez showed up at the medical office where she worked. He brought an engagement ring and put it in a bowl of Taffy on her desk. Martinez then said, come look at this. This is my favorite piece of taffy. Selena just looked at him and said, what are you doing here? Her coworkers did not hear. Martinez proposed. But when they later asked, Selena said she had told Martinez they will talk about it at home later.

The last day Selena was at work, she was wearing the engagement ring. Selena was complaining about her knee hurting, stating that she had hurt it while she was wrestling with Martinez.

Martinez broke a former girlfriend's nose and a thumb and kicked her in the stomach while she was pregnant. Two years later, he attacked her again. Terrifying. According to the notes taken by the police officer after that second attack, this is brutal. Just trigger warning. Both of her eyes were black. She had a possible broken nose, possible broken jaw, swelling to the right side of her face. Black and blue bruising to the right side of her neck and ear, bruising and abrasions to her right collarbone area, a split lip, swollen upper lip, scratches to her left shoulder, and a small bruise on her throat. I'm going to give you a breakdown of his, Martinez's incarceration dates. Okay, it's a lot, but I'm just going to go through it. Extensive rap sheet, let's go. May 1996, he receives a three year indeterminate sentence for the 1995 aggravated assaults. He served a six month writer, right? Cause he's a kid, like he's young, like you get your writer. In November, 1996, he completes his writer and is released on supervision. He violates the terms and is returned to custody for possession of drugs. In August of 1977, Martinez is sentenced to 1 to 2 and a half years on his original aggravated battery and is sentenced to 3 to 7 years for his possession.

In May 2006, Martinez is sentenced to three to five years for possession of a controlled substance. It doesn't work. His sentence is suspended and he is released on probation after spending all those years in jail. But he again violates the terms and a bench warrant is issued. He is sent back to prison for the original possession charge, right? And in 2010, Martinez walked away from his community work center job.
