Speaker 3:

Wonderful Skip Doing great.

Speaker 2:

Good to hear. Good to hear. So food is your first medicine. What is the thought process behind that?

Speaker 3:

Well, hippocrates said that many, many eons ago actually, and Dr Beruti, who founded Holographic Health, wrote a book called Alkalize or Die, and the whole theory behind eating an alkaline diet for health is what we really look at, and all foods create an alkaline or acidic ash in the body when they're eaten.

Speaker 3:

A lemon, for example, seems acidic when you hold it in your hand, but when you take it into your body say you're drinking lemon water it creates an alkaline ash.

Speaker 3:

So the two most alkaline foods in the body, or that you can put in the body, are lemon and watermelon, and all foods are on the scale of acid or alkaline. Meat, for example, is extremely acidic, as is sugar, but, like I said, watermelon and lemons and other fruits and vegetables are more alkaline. The other things that create acid in the body are stress and negative emotions, whereas prayer, meditation and really happy thoughts are really alkalizing to the body. So what we want to create is an alkaline environment for health, because viruses, bacteria, cannot live in an alkaline environment. So you want to create that environment in your body through good foods, like organic fruits and vegetables, and good thoughts. So it's all about the food. But also food you take into your body includes everything you're exposed to, like what you watch on television and all these other things, so you want to take in good food, both what you eat and drink and what you watch and listen to.

Speaker 2:

Interesting. So delve a little deeper into that. What you watch on movies and television entertainment, that sort of thing, are you saying watching like violent war movies? Is that a problem?

Speaker 3:

Well, if you love things like that and it doesn't bother you, that's one thing. But I don't. So many people watch the news and it's so negative and stressful and it's that stress on the body and the negativity that is going to create an acidic environment. Things that make you happy and feel good are going to be good food for your body and mind and spirit. So just see how things make you feel. If watching a movie that is action adventure gets you excited and makes you think about getting up and cleaning your house and having a good time with your family, great. But if it makes you feel really worried and concerned and stressed and upset, don't go there. I quit watching the news about 25, 30 years ago because it was just stressful and negative. I just don't do that and if I find myself catching something starting to go down that trail, I say wait a minute, it isn't worth it. I need my health and happiness to be the number one thing I focus on.

Speaker 4:

I need my lemon water and my watermelon.

Speaker 2:

Yes, yes, wow, very, very interesting. Yeah, I'm not a fan of violent movies. I like science fiction and comedy. You know, that's what makes me, happy Comedy is great.

Speaker 3:

I think it was Norman Lear who cured himself from cancer by watching funny movies. Laughter is also a good medicine, and that's a great segue.

Speaker 4:

So some of our audience may know that Anne has been diagnosed with a few cancer imbalances over the past decade decade or better Since 2010. Several times she has essentially starved the cancer away with diet and good nutrition and creating a very alkaline environment in her body which, like she said, diseases and viruses and bacteria and even cancer cells cannot live in. So food really is a wonderful first medicine to really think about and use for all of it's good.

Speaker 3:

This time of year, whether you're looking at having a severe illness like a cancer or just trying to keep your immune system boosted for the holidays. Watch that sugar intake minimize that. Watch the stress level minimize that. Eat more good fruits and vegetables and make sure they're organic and, just you know, live a happy life. Watch some funny movies and, you know, enjoy life with your family and friends.

Speaker 2:

Amen, that sounds so good. So you mentioned watermelon and lemon juice. What are some examples? I know those are examples, but some other examples of food that have specific healing properties and how they can be incorporated into a daily diet.

Speaker 3:

Well, it's kind of hard to find strawberries this time of year, but strawberries are a really good cancer fighter and also good for managing weight. Blueberries are a really good cancer fighter and also good for managing weight. Blueberries are a really good cancer fighter. All these wonderful colorful fruits and vegetables broccoli is a wonderful cancer fighter things like that that are colorful fruit carrots.

Speaker 3:

I remember one of the trainers I had a few years ago said nobody ever got fat eating carrots. You know so. True, yes, and you can make simple changes in your diet, like eating whole grains instead of the white flour. You know, buying whole organic whole grain bread or making your own sourdough is really really good for the body. Sourdough has some wonderful bacteria that helps you to stay healthy and work on the weight. Intermittent fasting is something. If you don't eat after dinner and you wait until late morning or lunch to eat, that helps to reset the body and reset the metabolism.

Speaker 3:

Avoiding refined sugars If you're going to make cookies, get some good whole grain flour and coconut sugar instead of white refined sugar and use some good fat like butter or palm oil, which is much better for the body. And so those are simple things. Oats, you know. Oats instead of white flour. You can buy these in your local grocery store these days and so good fats like avocado. Avocado is a wonderful food for health. I eat a lot of avocado and you can usually get avocados year-round.

Speaker 3:

You can get many fruits and vegetables year-round because they do come from other countries or hothouse grown, but make sure they are organic. That is extremely important. Extra virgin olive oil and getting. In fact, dr William Lee, who did the Eat to Beat Disease and Eat for your Health series, talked about using extra virgin olive oil and how important that is for your body, and that's something that I have been very careful about over the years, using only extra virgin olive oil, butter and some palm oil, if I need a shortening, because these are a lot healthier fats and within holographic health, we have a way of eating, eating fruit first and alone, because it will digest a lot quicker than eating other foods. So vegetables should be the center of your diet.

Speaker 3:

A lot of good vegetables, vegetables, fruits first or alone, and then, if you eat meat, you need to eat it with vegetables, not with potatoes or starches, because that creates a very acidic environment. So no sandwiches. If you're going eat meat, eat it with a salad or some vegetables and eat your fruit first or alone. Don't eat it on top of heavier foods because then it won't digest as well, and so your digestive system is really your immune system, so you want to keep that healthy.

Speaker 3:

Eating some good yogurt, especially Greek yogurt, is really good for the metabolism and building that good gut bacteria. We have some good probiotics that we provide for people that really get all of the digestive system back in order If somebody's taken antibiotics or has had to do something like that. But some good Greek yogurt. Things you can do with just food are things like that combining your foods carefully so that you don't eat fruit on top of meat to you know, so it won't digest as well. Eating some some good fats like avocado, eating a lot of good vegetables and fruits, making sure things are organic and a lot of good water.

Speaker 3:

Especially in alkaline water, is really, really good, and adding some lemon to that is excellent.

Speaker 2:

Good to know, very good to know. I don't know about you guys, but I'm really hungry now for Greek yogurt with strawberries and watermelon and lemon juice. Thank you all so much. I appreciate you spending some time with us again today and wish you all the best and we'll catch you in the next episode.
