In this episode of Hello Hollis, I’m going a little deeper on something I touched on in the last episode around the idea of “once in a lifetime.” I really have thought more about how our brains and bodies often push back against the very things we say we want, especially when those things feel bigger, more expansive, or outside of what we’re used to. My recent trip to England and Ireland with my family felt like what you’d want to label “once in a lifetime” because it can actually be a way of keeping ourselves safe and contained instead of allowing for more of it.

We get into how this shows up in everyday life and business too, from how we think about travel to something as simple as having slow mornings. I share a conversation with a client that really highlights how uncomfortable it can feel to imagine having what we want all the time, and why that discomfort is worth paying attention to. This episode is an invitation to start noticing your language, question the limits you might be placing on yourself, and get curious about what you actually want your baseline to be.
