10. A Future Where Financial Freedom Is Normal

Brandon Byrne

A vivid vision of a world where financial freedom thrives emerges through Brandon's exploration of poverty's impact on personal and societal ambitions. The conversation drives home the importance of uprooting the systemic issues that hinder progress and the potential for a future filled with possibility.

In this episode, we discuss:
• the pervasive grip of poverty on personal and societal growth
• a future where financial struggles no longer define choices
• community action as a response to economic challenges

Together, we can work towards a future where prosperity is accessible to all.

Speaker 1:

Hello, beautiful soul, and welcome to episode 10 of the Money Nomad podcast. I'm your host, brandon Byrne, also known as the Money Nomad. Today, I'm going to tell you about my vision for a world of prosperity, abundance and freedom. Now, this episode is based off of an article that I wrote at the beginning of the month, titled what's Wrong With the World. So do you guys feel that something's not quite right in the world? If you've ever had that thought, the world shouldn't be like this, it should be like this. You are not alone. In fact, I'm sure almost all of us can relate to wanting to change something about the world, to better it in some way. But with millions of problems that exist in the world, naturally different problems are going to resonate for different people. So today I'd like to tell you about the problem that resonates with me the most, and if you're human, I think part of this will resonate with you as well. So for me, the biggest problem in the world is poverty. Why do the rich get richer and the poor get poorer? Well, it's not such a simple answer, but we'll come back to this. So why do I think poverty is the greatest problem in the world?

Speaker 1:

Think of how much easier it would be for humanity, not only collectively but also on an individual basis, to solve our problems if so many of us weren't stuck in a survival mode way of doing things, struggling to afford the cost of living. For example, what if working 40 hours a week out of necessity wasn't the mainstream? What if a 30-hour work week was the norm? How would 10 extra hours every week change your life? What would you do with the extra free time? And remember, this is assuming that the cost of living is such that working a 30-hour work week actually pays all your bills and then some. You're actually able to save money and grow your wealth over time. So what would you do with so much free time and money being no concern? Would you travel the world? Would you help your parents retire? Would you bring your friends on awesome vacations? Would you hire a personal trainer and get in the best shape of your life? Would you start thinking a little more seriously about having kids? The possibilities are truly endless, but the main point being that with more free time and increased financial security, the only limit becomes your mental blocks. So how can solving for poverty help us solve every other problem in the world?

Speaker 1:

Let's talk social change. So when the people are upset about something that governments or corporations do, we take to the streets and we hold group assemblies, also known as protests. What do you think the success rate of protests is? After hearing this answer from my dad as a kid, it's still my favorite answer to this question. So my dad once told me protests have a 100% success rate. Sometimes it just takes 100 years for the people to get what they want, the main point being you cannot suppress the will of the people forever. We will eventually get what we demand, assuming it's for the betterment of humanity and the majority of people actually want the change Question so if you think about having protests today, what's the first thing that's going to keep someone from showing up day after day for six months straight in order to actually get the desired change?

Speaker 1:

It's this If you don't go back to work, you won't be able to make your next rent payment, and if not rent, then some other sacrifice relating to your purchases will need to be made. Sacrifice relating to your purchases will need to be made. Am I the only one who already feels like the cost of living as it is right now is such that sacrifices need to be made anyway, like what sacrifices are you making? What in your life do you wish you could do, but feels too impossible to actually do because of a lack of money, or because that thing you want just feels too expensive because of a lack of money, or because that thing you want just feels too expensive? Just from this application alone, solving for poverty will uplift the people in such a way that we will be more empowered to shape society any way we see fit, and then, with our own basic necessities met, we can create a world that we can truly be proud of. A lot could be accomplished if poverty was not such a widespread issue.

Speaker 1:

So I have a dream. I have a dream that financial freedom can be a normal thing, where a lack of sufficient funds doesn't deter us from living as we were meant to live Free. Free to act on our desires, whether that be the desire to explore a new place, try new things or push yourself to be the best person. You can be Free to give our children the best opportunity to live a wonderful life. Free to walk up to your mom and dad and say Mom, Dad, you don't need to work anymore, I got this. You guys enjoy a retired life. Thank you for everything you've done to help me get to where I am today.

Speaker 1:

I dream of a world where you are free to acquire residence at a price that you are happy to pay, free to nurture a home so that it serves all the needs of those living there. Free to express ourselves in a way that's most authentic to who we are, free to reject what anyone else says about who you are, because you know who you are and you know how to shine your light in a way that draws your people to you. I dream of a freedom where self-expression leads to an ease in fostering community and a sense of belonging, the likes of which would bring an end to the epidemic of loneliness, which, in turn, makes the realm of dating and finding your ideal life partner natural, easy and simple, because in this world, we'll be living more in accordance with who our truest selves are, with who you're meant to be. Do you know what you were born for? What's your soul's unique purpose? We're not spending so much time working to afford the cost of living. Life slows down enough for us to really listen to what's on the inside, and this has been a really interesting part of my own journey. One of the effects I almost didn't expect that when I was intentional about slowing life down and I was able to hear myself think I was able to connect to my own soul and really get to the bottom of who I am, and so, in part, that's one of the most sadistic effects that I see with a cost-living crisis is that it almost robs you of your purpose and living out who you're meant to be. It's really tough to connect to your own soul when you're just trying to work and work to avoid the cost of living crisis or to afford the day-to-day living. And another key part of my journey was solo travel. Solo travel is an awesome way to accelerate finding your soul's unique purpose. You're able to travel to a new place where no one knows you, which means every new person you meet is asking who are you? Who are you? You and you get to decide what that answer is and if you, if your answer to that question doesn't feel quite right to the first five people you tell you can try a different answer. The more you iterate your answer to the question who are you, the more you evolve and become the highest version of yourself. Only through this process, as well as reflecting on the wisdom and life lessons gained along the way, is how you will truly identify what you were made for.

Speaker 1:

There's this quote I like by Molly Mielke. I might be pronouncing that wrong, but she said I increasingly think there's intense cruelty to shilling self-care as a solution for people who are clearly craving purpose. There's definitely a lot to talk about with that quote, like, yeah, I mean, self-care is definitely important and a big part of my own beliefs as well. I believe the more you take care of yourself, the more you're better equipped to take care of others and the world around you. But how many of us are really craving purpose, like that's why I'm always like who are you? What do you want, what? Who are you and what were you born for? What's your purpose? And so I agree with that sentiment.

Speaker 1:

And, yeah, I dream of a future where finance empowers the people to feel well-resourced in their pursuit of happiness. And the reason it's such a big deal to me is because I see this as the biggest obstacle in the way of people not living attuned to their purpose. And yeah, as I sit here recording this today, I'm filled with immense optimism that my dream is becoming a reality, slowly but surely. It might take a few decades before we get there, but the builders of the world are building a future where prosperity in all its forms will be as accessible as a cell phone is today. So why do the rich get richer and the poor get poorer? Because the rich play by different rules. They made a game where they could write the rules, and the poor continue to play someone else's game instead of making their own.

Speaker 1:

But the year 2025 is all about change. We're in for major endings and major beginnings, but with all the change comes massive opportunity. The entire system is getting flipped on its head. The old way of doing things is going away. The world of even two years ago doesn't even exist anymore. A new system is being built, nurtured and cultivated, with plenty of room for you to bring in your own abundance and align with who you're meant to be. The future is abundant if we choose to make it so, and so in this episode, I've laid out my vision for a world in which financial freedom can be a normal thing, and a lot of my actions today are all about bringing this vision forward and slowly bringing it to reality.

Speaker 1:

Most recent endeavor of mine is starting my online community and classroom called the world journey collective. For most of february, I've been working a lot about designing my flagship course that will eventually be on the community. In the classroom, I'm essentially thinking through all the steps that were necessary in my own journey, and then I'm building a step-by-step process as to how I arrived at where I am today, and this is the step-by-step process that'll help turn anyone from not knowing anything about money to being able to achieve financial freedom. So this course gives you everything you need to know in terms of how money works, but also how to take advantage of the greatest wealth transfer in history, the basics of investing and everything that anyone would need to know in terms of getting on the path to financial freedom. So you'll hear me talk about more about this in the future, especially in March.
