SPEAKER_01Welcome to Spotlight for Success with American Book Company. I'm your host, Derek Pentozi, and we're here at the NCASA conference in Wilmington, North Carolina. We're here with our special guest, Dean Cook. He is a sales manager for Presentation Solutions. Thank you for coming on today. Well, thank you.
SPEAKER_00So what brings you to NCASA?
Three Products Presentation Solutions Sells
SPEAKER_00So we're down here just uh showcasing the three units that we sell. We only sell three things. Uh we don't have a barrage of things. We have a poster maker, we have a recognizer, and a cool laminator. So those are the products we like to highlight.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So is this tell us a little bit about
The Recognizer Explained For Schools
SPEAKER_00this? Okay, so this comes from something that a lot of school principals, administrators, teachers don't know about, and that is called the recognizer. Now the recognizer is an award system. It's not just an award system, it's a way to make plaques, trophies, medals. Here's an example. Um, and so you can award throughout the year any athlete, any teacher, any student for anything that they they need to be awarded for. Um, and don't have to go to the local trophy shop.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So that's what this machine does. But it also does more. It does signage, stair signage, it does any kind of signage throughout the school. Uh so it's it's a multi-it's kind of like a Swiss Army knife for signage and award. Okay, I love that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
What Makes Their Service Different
SPEAKER_01And what makes you guys different from your competitors?
SPEAKER_00Well, um, there are several things that when it comes to this, we own the rights to this, this particular item. So it's kind of a sole source thing. Now, what makes us different overall, as far as our printer and our cool lamp, that kind of thing, is we offer a life of the machine um service. So as long as you own it, I get people that call eight years into their uh ownership and they say, Oh, we got a problem, but the warranty was gone three years ago or four years ago. It doesn't matter. Our technicians will still help you solve that problem. Wow. So that's one of three things that make us so different. Wow. Yeah. Cool. Our poster maker is the 24, 25, and hopefully 26 poster maker of the year by EdTech magazine. And what they do is they review all the different uh educational technology products that are out there for schools, and they said of all the poster makers, this one is the best one for schools, and that separates us because we made it specifically for schools.

SPEAKER_00Yeah. That's powerful,
A Principal’s Peacekeeper Award Story
SPEAKER_00man. So how'd you get into this position? Well, um, I met the owner, we sat down, we talked, he told me about the product that uh that they sell. I said, really? That's easy because schools want it already, and so as a result, it it was a natural fit for me. I I uh had worked for a company many, many years and and uh was looking for something that would be a good fit for me.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm glad you found what you loved. Yeah, yeah, that's great. I hope I shouldn't find that so I know it's a blessing.
SPEAKER_00I I I enjoyed the job I had before this, I loved it, and this one here, um, I've only been with them about a year. Never woke up a day saying, Oh gosh, gotta go to work. So, yeah. Schools want it. Uh they they love it, they want it. We just partnered with them to find a way to obtain it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think it's a beautiful product. It um promotes success. That's one and just appreciation. I think it's it's great. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I do have a story on the recognizer if I got a moment. Oh, yeah. It's a story, it's a true story of a principal that heard that a middle school boy had not just broken up a fight, but prevented the fight. Wow. Prevented it from occurring altogether. She had heard about it and uh they owned the recognizer. She immediately went to the recognizer, she printed off a plaque like this that said, World's greatest peacekeeper, put his name on it. He was 10 years old, went down to the class where he prevented the fight, got them all together, and said, I want to present this to you, and made him the world's greatest peacekeeper in front of all his peers. So that's an example of what you can do.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Wow, he should be very proud of himself. Yes, that's amazing.
