Welcome to the podcast. Today, we’re talking about something that does not get nearly enough attention: the effect certain medications can have on male fertility, and more specifically, on sperm quality.

Many people assume that if a medication is helping one part of the body, it could not possibly be affecting reproduction. But that is not always the case. Some commonly used drugs, including certain hormones, antidepressants, prostate medications, hair loss treatments, seizure medications, and even some chemotherapy agents, may negatively affect sperm count, motility, morphology, or overall reproductive potential.

In this episode, we’ll take a closer look at which medications may be involved, how they may affect sperm health, and why this information is so important for men trying to conceive with their partners. We’ll also discuss why no one should stop a prescribed medication without speaking to their doctor, and how awareness can help patients make more informed decisions.

If you or someone you know is trying to build a family, this is an important conversation. Let’s get started.
