Notary Made Easy: Everything You Need to Know

James Banks Episode 21

Does ParcelPedia Offer Notary Services?

Struggling to find a notary when you need one? We've solved that problem at ParcelPedia. Every single employee in our Frisco store is a certified notary public, meaning you'll never hear "sorry, our notary isn't here today" when you visit us.

The notarization process is refreshingly simple. Many of our customers remark, "That was easier than I thought!" as they finish up. Just bring your document (unsigned, please!) and a valid government-issued photo ID during our notary hours: Monday-Friday 9:00 AM-5:30 PM or Saturday 10:00 AM-3:00 PM. No appointment necessary, though we're happy to schedule one if you prefer. At just $10 per stamp—the standard Texas fee—our services won't break the bank.

What truly sets ParcelPedia apart is our commitment to accessibility. Can't make it to our store? Our mobile notary service covers the greater Frisco area for a reasonable flat fee of $50. While some mobile notaries charge hundreds, we believe in fair pricing for essential services. This option has proven invaluable for elderly or disabled clients who can't easily travel. We've notarized documents on front porches, in hospital rooms, and everywhere in between.

Think of notaries as "signature police"—we're here to verify your identity and witness your signature on important documents, preventing forgery and fraud. While we can't offer legal advice, we provide common-sense guidance to help ensure your documents are properly completed. From simple signatures to documents requiring witnesses, we're equipped to handle your notary needs with professional, efficient service.

Speaker 2:

Need a document notarized, from real estate paperwork to affidavits. Here's how our notary service at Parcelpedia keeps things simple and efficient. Welcome back everyone. I'm Sofia Aguivette, co-host, slash producer. Back in the studio with owner of Parcelpedia, james Banks. James, how's it going today?

Speaker 3:

Hey, sofia, I'm doing very well today. How are you today?

Speaker 2:

I'm also doing really well, and that is wonderful to hear. So, james, let us know, does Parcelpedia offer notary services and, if so, how does it work?

Speaker 3:

Oh, yes, we definitely offer notary services and if so, how does it work? Oh, yes, we definitely offer notary services for them every day that we are open, so any day of the week you can get a notary service done. Every employee that works at Parcelpedia is actually a notary public, so you don't have to worry about walking in like, oh, the notary is out for lunch, oh, they're out sick today. You know the things you hear at different offices oh, we only have that one notary and they're on their three-week vacation right now. We have a notary at all times, so you don't ever have to worry about a notary being present. We just have set hours. Monday through Friday we do a notary from 9 to 5.30. And on Saturday it's all day, 10 am to 3 pm, so pretty much the whole day you have access. We do not do any appointments. Unless you would like an appointment, you can always just walk in and get a notary done. The one tiny stipulation we have is if you have a notary that requires two witnesses, we ask that you bring at least one witness with you. We typically only have one witness outside of the notary public to assist in that. The documents like last will and testaments, medical power of attorneys, medical directives, things of that nature. So they're not super common notary services that get done. But we can still definitely help you, just calling and asking and we'll make sure our schedule fits yours to get it done.

Speaker 3:

The way it works is very, very simple. You come in, you bring your document and please, please, please I can ask this enough, stress this enough please leave the document unsigned until you're in front of the notary. A lot of people will sign it and then read, oh, I need a notary. And then bring it to the notary. As a notary, we still can notarize a document that's been pre-signed. It just adds extra steps, it makes it a little bit more difficult, a lot of extra markings on the paper that sometimes whoever's receiving that notarized document may not like. So we try to keep it as clean as possible. But all you need to do is bring the document. The person that's signing needs to have a valid ID. By valid I mean not expired, so still valid. Whether that's a driver's license, whether that's a passport, a concealed carry license, anything of that nature. A state-issued license or government-issued license with your image and name will work. So you bring it, you record your information and knock the notary out Very simple. Our charges go by the state fee, which the Texas state fee currently is $10 for a notary stamp. And yeah, I like to stress how easy it is.

Speaker 3:

Almost every customer I have that comes into a notary as we're finishing up they say, oh man, that was easier than I thought. I think they think they're going to have to sit down and go through this big legal process, but it's nothing like that and it's a very easy transaction and really the easiest way is to leave everything blank. That way there's no questions. Did I mark here an accident? Did I write the wrong thing? Just leave it blank.

Speaker 3:

You know, and really what people tend to, I guess, kind of misinterpret as far as what notary document. They think that everything needs to be done for the notary, but that's not true. I don't need to see you write in your name or your mother's maiden name and all that other stuff. I just need to watch you sign the document. I like to tell people notary publics were like signature police. We're basically just making sure that no one's forging documents, Nobody is signing you into a million dollar loan without your knowledge, basically just making sure that the person who's signing their name is that person and we are a live witness to that and so obviously it's for typically more important documents. So it is something that you want to do right, and that's why we're here to help make sure it's done correctly.

Speaker 2:

Understood, James. So how does a mobile notary service work and what areas do you cover?

Speaker 3:

Yes. So mobile notary, it is just like I can explain. In-store, it just happens wherever you're at. So if you're at the hospital, at your house, at the park, it really doesn't matter. I've done it on a person's front porch before. I mean, as long as we have writing utensils, my notary log and my stamps, we can and the document of course, we can get it done. So yeah, we often know mobile notary services. That one is going to be, of course, more appointment based, because I would then have to send an employee to you and we try to do the Frisco, greater Frisco area.

Speaker 3:

If you're in Fort Worth calling me up, I'm sorry, you know, I would love to help you but I can't dedicate three hours to go do one notary, Mobile notary pricing I would like to almost make a PSA out of this. So, according to the state of Texas, a notary public can assess any amount they like is completely up to the discretion for their mobile services. Now the notary, the act, the notarial act, is only $10. You can't. You can't charge more than that. That's illegal. But a mobile notary can charge any fee they want. So please keep in mind, if you're calling up a mobile notary, that's not parcelpedia, If you hear a crazy number, it's just the number they decided. You know we try to keep a flat fee of $50 for travel and the notary service.

Speaker 3:

You may see people are charging hundreds 200, upwards of $300 sometimes for their mobile services. Please know it may seem like you know they're trying to teach you. They're not. They're completely allowed to do that by the state. But if you're looking for a more reasonable alternative, Parcelpedia is here to help. And again, please just give us a call, Let us know when you need it and we'll find a way to help you out. So we've done plenty of mobile notaries here. It's always a huge help to the person that needs it, because typically it's a family member who just can't move Maybe they're up in age or disabled and it's just a big help to know that you have someone in the community who's willing to go above and beyond to help you. Because you call so many places like, hey, I need someone to come out and like, no, we don't do that, you have to come up to us. And if it's not an option for you, you should still have some recourse, and so that's why we'd like to offer that to help those in need of those mobile services.

Speaker 2:

So, james, any final FYIs in terms of notary?

Speaker 3:

It feels like there's a lot, you know, when it comes to notary, because there's so many little things. But really, if you have the document, you have your ID and you just leave everything blank, you're green, You're good to go, you're greenlit because we'll take care of it, we'll make sure that you have what you need on that document for it to be processed. And you know, as a notary, we cannot give legal advice, but we can give common sense advice, you know. Yeah, I would probably date that before you submit it. I can't tell you what or how to fill it out, but if it were me, I probably felt the whole thing. Simple things like that. You know, sometimes people just need reassurance.

Speaker 2:

Well, James, thank you so much for talking with us today and catch you in the next episode. Have a fantastic rest of your day.

Speaker 3:

Thank you so much, Sophia. It's been an honor and a pleasure.
