Not the Plot

Ann Dombroski - From short fiction writer to novelist

Teena Episode 9

Ann Dombroski’s prize-winning short fiction has appeared in literary journals and anthologies and she recently celebrated the release of her debut novel After the Great Storm, a novel of threat and intrigue set in Sydney 50 years from now. It’s a story whose characters refuse to give up on love regardless of cost, and ultimately asks the question, 'When corruption becomes endemic, how can we save our moral code?'

In this episode of Not the Plot, host Teena Raffa-Mulligan chats with Ann about the inspiration behind her book, the challenge of shifting her focus from short fiction to a full-length novel, and the role of editor as intelligent reader during the publishing process.
