Kylie Howarth - Winning young readers

Kylie Howarth is an award-winning children’s book author and illustrator from Perth. She was raised in the country alongside her brother, dog, sheep, several orphaned kangaroos and one very cheeky echidna.  

Kylie’s obsession with animals also extends underwater as she has braved lionfish in Egypt, piranha and pink dolphins in the Amazon, marine iguanas and hammerhead sharks in the Galapagos Islands and swum with whale sharks, manta rays and humpback whales at Ningaloo, Western Australia.

In this episode of Not the Plot, Kylie shares where she gets her best ideas, offers an insight into her life as a children's author/illustrator, and highlights the importance of play for creatives.

* Make time to play and experiment with your art.

* Don't fear the hard spots - know they are just part of the creative process and work through them.
