Welcome, Boomer listeners. I'm Peggy Sweet, and this is Belonging in the Bluffs, brought to you by the Iowa West Foundation. I'm joined in studio once again with my good friend James. He is the president and CEO of the Child Saving Institute. Welcome, James.
SPEAKER_00Hey, thanks for having me back, Peggy. I'm happy to be here.
SPEAKER_01It's great to have you back. Uh, your event is getting very close, and we're gonna talk about that today.
SPEAKER_00Peggy, thanks so much for having me. Yeah, we're really excited that our event is fast approaching, and we can't wait to get everybody in the room.
SPEAKER_01It's gonna be a great event. It's happening at the Mid-America Center, I believe, on the 21st of August.
SPEAKER_00Yes, absolutely. At six o'clock, we'll kick off, and we got a fun night, 90s-themed uh cover band. The day traders will be performing, so it should be a uh a great time.
SPEAKER_01And are we able to wear our 90s attire?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the attire is actually 90s chic. Uh so uh you might want to throw that in the old Google machine to get some inspiration. Uh we wanted it to be a little bit elevated, maybe not so much fanny packs and uh fluorescent, but if people show up that way, then more power to them.
SPEAKER_01I can see a fluorescent evening dress, trust me, I can see it.
SPEAKER_00It's probably out there to be had. I can't I can't wait. Maybe dig one out of the closet.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, uh yeah. I d hey, don't don't slam on my closet. It's probably there.
SPEAKER_00That's great.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so there's also going to be music that night.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, actually, we're the day traders are gonna perform and they have a whole 90s set list that they're going to do, so it's it's on theme. So that's how we're gonna end the night. And we're also excited to continue uh the tradition of honoring and and giving out the Jason Awards that night. So it should be a lot going on.
SPEAKER_01And are you able to say who's going to get the awards?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we're excited. Uh, we have an individual, Deborah uh Kaplan, who's going to be receiving uh an award in the Council Bluffs Police Department, who does a lot uh with Child Saving Institute, specifically on our Children's Square campus in Council Bluffs.
SPEAKER_01Wonderful. And uh tickets are still available.
SPEAKER_00Tickets are still available. Buy them now. $75 a piece. That gets you to the event, the entertainment, uh, you know, food, drinks, uh a fun evening uh to kind of wrap up summer.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and uh you can't go out anymore for less than that.
SPEAKER_00So and it's all for a good cause. It supports our shelter and our shelter youth. That's ultimately the the mission and the why. But yeah, we think it's an incredibly great deal for a fun evening as well.
SPEAKER_01And we get those tickets at your website?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the best place would be to go to childsaving.org and you can go to happenings and you can find all the information for culinary remix.
SPEAKER_01Perfect. And again, all the money stays right here in our area.
SPEAKER_00100% is going to stay to support the Children's Square campus and all the good work that's happening for Child Saving Institute in Council Bluffs.
SPEAKER_01That's just another reason to live and love Council Bluffs. So you mentioned the shelter specifically. Can you tell me a little more about that?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, absolutely. We operate an emergency shelter on campus uh for children who've been removed from their homes or they are in between placements, and really the evening and the funds that are raised are going to support the work that is happening within that emergency shelter. So that's a critical service for Council Bluffs and all of Southwest Iowa.
SPEAKER_01It absolutely is. And again, all of the money that is raised from this event stays here in Council Bluffs and surrounding areas.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no hesitation. Join join us August 21st at Culinary Remix. Have a great time for a great cause.
SPEAKER_01Only $75 for a ticket. Again, all the money stays here. It is a 90s theme, which is a great era. Music by the day traders, Mid America Center, six to ten. It is an evening that has all of the things.
SPEAKER_00Uh, get your tickets now again at childsaving.org, and we appreciate you.
SPEAKER_01James, thank you so much. I appreciate your time.
