HealingStrong's Around the Word

Episode 10 - The Joseph Series: Prison to Palace (Genesis 41:46-49, Ephesians 3:20 NIV)

HealingStrong Episode 10

Joseph's journey from pit to palace took 13 years, culminating at age 30 when he entered Pharaoh's service and managed Egypt's resources during seven years of abundance. God's blessings became so overwhelming that Joseph stopped counting the grain because it was beyond measure—a perfect illustration of Ephesians 3:20, where God promises to do "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine."

This quick episode covers:

• Joseph was 30 years old when he began serving Pharaoh—the same age Jesus and King David began their ministries
• Those 13 years weren't wasted but were preparation for Joseph's destiny
• Joseph went from sitting in silence in prison to running a nation
• The grain became so abundant Joseph stopped keeping records—it was beyond measure
• God does "immeasurably more" than we can dream or ask (Ephesians 3:20)
• We often limit God by planning our future instead of trusting His bigger plans
• Luke 6:38 reminds us we cannot outgive God—He returns blessings in overflowing measure

Speaker 1:

immeasurably more than you could ever dream or ask. That's what your Father can do for you.

Speaker 2:

Hey, my name is Cheryl and you're listening to Healing Strong's Around the Word. We are friends sitting around the table who love the Lord and love digging deep into His Word Each day. You'll hear me read a Bible passage and then we'll chat about what we're learning from it. I'll be reading Genesis, chapter 41, verses 46 through 49, and Ephesians 3.20 from the NIV version of the Bible. So join us around the Word. Genesis, chapter 41, verses 46 through 49.

Speaker 2:

Joseph was 30 years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and Joseph went out from Pharaoh's presence and traveled throughout Egypt. During the seven years of abundance, the land produced plentifully. Joseph collected all the food produced in those seven years of abundance in Egypt and stored it in the cities. In each city he put the food grown in the fields surrounding it. Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain like the sand of the sea. It was so much that he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure. And now Ephesians 3, verse 20. Now to him, who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us. That was our Bible reading for today. So now let's just listen in around the table to Susie, angie Maren and myself and see what we were talking about around the Word Right out the gate, y'all we see that it's been well. He started when he was 17 on this journey and now he's 30 years old. So what? 13 years?

Speaker 1:

I think it's interesting that he's 30. Who else was?

Speaker 2:

30 when they started their ministry, their public ministry.

Speaker 1:

Well, of course Jesus, and King David was anointed king when he was 30.

Speaker 2:

Very interesting indeed. So a lot happened in those 13 years. I mean from a well all the way to the palace and running a nation, essentially. So those were not wasted years at all. They were preparing him for that moment. Well, and not only just running it, he also sat in silence in a jail cell, so he had to learn to hear the voice of God very clearly as well. I love this line. Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain like the sand of the sea. It was so much he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure. So when he got to his place of destiny, his harvest, essentially it's that verse.

Speaker 1:

What is it about Ephesians 3.20, immeasurably more than you could ever dream or ask. That's what your father can do for you.

Speaker 2:

And think how many times we kind of picture what we're waiting on and we almost put God in a box because we've planned out our whole future. Joseph could have never known he was going to be running a nation ever, and yet God did exceedingly abundantly. And later we'll see he'll also address some of Joseph's heart desires that haven't been met yet.

Speaker 3:

All right, Luke 6. I want to say it's 38. For if you give, you will get. Your gift will return to you in full and overflowing measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more and running over. Whatever measure you use to give, large or small, will be used to measure what is given back to you. If you just are giving to God, if you're doing everything that you can do to serve God, you can't out give him. He's going to pour a blessing out over you. You can't even measure it. It's immeasurable.

Speaker 2:

And that is the end of our discussion for today. Don't you love that Immeasurably more Ephesians 3.20. You love that Immeasurably more Ephesians 3.20. We all want immeasurably more, and God will give it. So that's an awesome encouragement for today. Thank you for joining us for Healing Strong's Around the Word podcast.
