• God set ambushes against Israel's enemies while His people simply sang praises
• When Judah's army arrived at the battlefield, they found only corpses – the battle was already won
• Effective spiritual warfare follows a pattern: fasting, prayer, belief, worship, and praise
• Singing worship songs over your difficult situations changes both your perspective and the spiritual atmosphere

Start singing praise over your battles today by finding worship songs that focus on God's character and abilities. Your worship is doing powerful things in the heavenlies that you can't even see!

Speaker 1:

The power of praise in a battle is just a great example here the power of singing and praise in our battles. Don't forget that.

Speaker 2:

Hi there, my name is Cheryl and you are listening to Healing Strong's Around the Word. We're friends just sitting around a table who love the Lord and we love digging deep into His Word. So each day you'll hear me reading a Bible passage and then the group will chat about what we're learning from it. Today I'll be reading 2 Chronicles 20, verses 22 through 25, from the NIV version of the Bible. So go ahead and join us Around the Word. Niv version of the Bible. So go ahead and join us around the word.

Speaker 2:

2 Chronicles, 20, verses 22 through 25. As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated. The Ammonites and Moabites rose up against the men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another. When the men of Judah came to the place that overlooks the desert and looked toward the vast army, they saw only dead bodies lying on the ground. No one had escaped. So Jehoshaphat and his men went to carry off their plunder, and they found among them a great amount of equipment and clothing, and also articles of value more than they could take away. There was so much plunder that it took three days to collect it. That was our Bible reading for today, so now let's listen in on the discussion that Angie, jeff Susie and myself had around the word as they began to sing and praise.

Speaker 3:

Woo. At the time they began to sing and praise. The scripture says who set the ambushes? The Lord caused the armies of Ammon Moab and Mount Seir to begin fighting themselves and destroying each other. Who's ever heard of that? I've never heard of that. No, no, no Again.

Speaker 4:

But can you just picture?

Speaker 2:

those.

Speaker 3:

Just imagine that.

Speaker 4:

Seriously, can you just see the people sitting there watching the men praising and singing and knowing that their army is way bigger, more vast, stronger, and here they are praising the Lord. I mean, they're probably turning at each other and arguing with each other, and then something happens.

Speaker 3:

Just think about the armies getting closer and closer. They could hear something you know they could hear. It's my mom See Music, music. They could hear the song in the air and it was freaking them out. These people are singing and praising.

Speaker 2:

There's random music that's playing right now. I'm not kidding um, it's my alarm that just went off, but it's so funny it timed out with that.

Speaker 2:

I'm telling you guys, this is not scripted. Y'all may not have heard it on this phone, but we had music that started playing. It's pretty funny. Oh so the enemy is just fighting themselves. You've got the choir up at the top of the hill just singing a wonderful praise song and I mean it makes you wonder seriously what the enemy heard. They could have their perception could have been completely different. They may have the Lord may have caused it so that they heard something scary and awful, just like the people of Jericho, when they heard that praise and that shout, they were super freaked out.

Speaker 1:

Because in verse 24, when Judah came out to the lookout of the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude and behold, they were corpses lying on the ground. So the battle was taking place before Israel had even gotten to the battle position of the lookout. So the song of praise was coming over, like you were saying, and who knows what they were hearing. But the Lord routed them and they fought against each other. So the battle was already won by the time they arrived.

Speaker 2:

Look, I was just thinking it's so weird. Recently there was a sonic boom the other day because a jet had to go intercept another plane that was going awry. It was in the news. But what's funny is that was sound that caused a shaking and a rattling of the actual homes and stuff around the area where it occurred. And I'm like, can you imagine even more if the angels started joining in with them praying? What the sound would? It literally would have had a kinetic feel on these, these enemy.

Speaker 3:

That would be a sonic boom for sure.

Speaker 1:

The power of praise in a battle is just a great example here the power of singing and praise in our battles. Don't forget that.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. So let's review what these people did First. They fasted, they prayed, they believed, they worshiped and they sung and praised and victory came. We do our part and he does his part.

Speaker 2:

Can you imagine what it sounded like when those people started praising God? Like, literally, the singing, like what it sounded like and what it must've sounded like to God? It's just, oh, I love it, I really love it and how it just changed the battle for them to just start singing and praising. And that's what you can be doing right now, in the middle of your battle. Go and find some good worship songs that are on YouTube or wherever Spotify you name it. Find some good worship songs and start singing them over and over your situation, especially ones that are focusing on God and his abilities and who he is and how much he loves you. I promise it will change your perspective and it's doing stuff in the heavenlies that you don't even know.
