HealingStrong's Around the Word

Episode 60 - The Daniel Series: When You Walk Through The Fire, You Are Not Alone

HealingStrong Episode 60

In launching a new series on Daniel, we focus our time in Isaiah 43:1–2, where God affirms our identity as created, redeemed, and called by name—promises that transform how we face trials, offering His presence amid flames and floods that don’t consume us. We dive into the deeper meaning of “fear not,” grounded in redemption and intimacy, inviting us to lean on Scripture as a lifeline. Through the example of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego’s unwavering trust while in the furnace, we learn to stand firm in pressure, letting our identity shape our response whether deliverance is immediate or delayed.

This episode offers a hopeful, faith-filled path through every trial—listen, share, and join us in spreading courage and hope.

SPEAKER_00:

So he created you, oh Mary. He created you, oh John. He created you, oh Dorothy, whatever your name is. And he says, because I created you, fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have summoned you by name. You are mine. Period.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, hi there. Thanks so much for joining us for Healing Strong Surround the Word. My name is Cheryl, and we are a group of friends that love God's word and we love digging deep into it. So each day you'll hear me read a Bible passage. And then after that, you'll hear us discussing what we learned from it. I'm so excited because we are starting a new series today on the podcast. It is out of the book of Daniel, and it is about Daniel, and then it's also about the three guys you've heard about them in the fire, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. So if you've ever found yourself in your own personal fire, and who hasn't, you are gonna be so encouraged by the lessons that we learn from their story. So even though we're gonna be studying from the book of Daniel, we're actually gonna start off with some verses from the book of Isaiah today. Isaiah chapter 43, verses 1 through 2. So join us around the word. Isaiah 43, verses 1 through 2. But now, this is what the Lord says. He who created you, Jacob, He who formed you, Israel, do not fear, for I have redeemed you, I have summoned you by name. You are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you. And when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned. The flames will not set you ablaze. That's today's reading from the Bible. Before we get back to what Angie, Marin, and I were talking about around the word, here's a beautiful testimony we received recently. This is a note from Lori in Memphis, Tennessee. She says, without Healing Strong, many would be almost rudderless in this journey. I mean, rudderless. Think about that, by the way. A boat without a rudder, you don't even know where you're going. I just love it that Lori has found that kind of encouragement with Healing Strong. If you'd like to help us keep encouraging stories like Lori's going, please visit us at healingstrong.org slash donate. Okay, now let's get back to the table and around the word.

SPEAKER_00:

But now this is what the Lord says. I mean, that's enough right there. Okay. It says, this is what the Lord says. So he's got our attention. This is what the Lord is saying. He who created you, O Jacob, or O Maren, or O Cheryl, or O Angie, he who formed you, O Israel, fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have summoned you by name. You are mine. Verse two So because you are mine, when you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned. The flames will not set you ablaze.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, I love it. I promised we weren't originally going to be doing that first verse, but then you just yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

Go ahead. So what what you do, um what you get your Bible out, go to 43.1, in the first verse, when it says oh Jacob or O Israel, you just put your name in there and make it personal. That's so important that you make the Bible come alive for you because He put it in writing just for you. So He created you, oh Mary, He created you, O John, He created you, O Dorothy, whatever your name is. And he says, Because I created you, fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have summoned you by name, you are mine. Period.

SPEAKER_01:

Gosh, that needs to be the theme of our entire, this entire study. You are mine.

SPEAKER_02:

I mean, what do you think about that, Mary? That's right. Every single person, he knows us by name. He knows everything we've ever done. He knows everything that's ever been done to us. He uses everything in our life, everything, good and bad, everything for our good.

SPEAKER_01:

The thing that speaks to me is the whole fear not. God was using another verse from Isaiah that starts out with fear not, for I am with you. Kind of the same concept. He always has to remind us because we forget that he's with us. He's with us at all times. But yeah, I think we let life get a little too crazy and um we get obsessed about what's going on right now.

SPEAKER_00:

And I think it's important to notice that the first thing he tells us after he says, fear not, is because I have redeemed you, he said. Redemption is number one right here. He's he's reminding me, Angie, I redeemed you from the pit of hell. That keeps our perspective on an eternal timeline, regardless of what's happening in our state, in our country, in our little world today, he's redeemed us from the pit of hell, and we will spend eternity in heaven with him. So that's what it means by being redeemed. And then he says, I've summoned you. Oh, how sweet and how gentle to think of that. That that God of the universe summoned me, he called me out, and he redeemed me, and he calls me his.
