Today on the podcast, we’re stepping into one of the most surprising connections in Scripture—the way the story of Jonah quietly points us toward the salvation story of Jesus. Jonah, the reluctant prophet who ran from God yet was still used to bring mercy to an undeserving city, becomes a living foreshadow of a much greater rescue to come.

In the life of Jonah we see shadows—three days in the deep, a message of repentance, and a God whose compassion refuses to give up on broken people. But in Jesus, we encounter the true and better Jonah: the One who didn’t run from His mission but ran toward us; who didn’t face the depths because of His disobedience, but willingly entered death itself to bring us life; who didn’t simply warn of judgment, but bore it on our behalf.

As we explore this theme today, we’ll see how the entire arc of Jonah’s story lifts our eyes to the greater Savior—Jesus Christ—who fulfills what Jonah could only hint at. Let’s dive in.
