Okay Welcome back to another episode of unspoken with Nick and Nick and we have a new guest looking similar To the last guest. Yeah, actually funny enough They look a lot alike if you shaved and didn't have a beard just had the mustache and you guys could be brothers You know, I ran 40 miles a day Mustache two weeks ago, it's kind of grown back. See there you go. So bring back. I'm Nick. Of course. That's Nick My name is first on the thing and this is Ty Hi, say hello to everybody out in the world. How is everyone? Yeah, Ty has got a lot going on we got a lot to talk about for sure. Yeah, and we've been talking about this for What how long? We've been trying we you and I have connected on this a couple of times We tried to do it a month or two ago, but you had a baby That's true and you had a baby and then I had a baby Yeah, so so things just happen that way sometimes and we have to roll with the punches. That's true. Yeah, this is my third though Oh, never mind. Yeah, I'm out of the we were out of the woods and we dove back in Fortunately dove back into the woods without clothes on and then had another baby Yeah, that's how that works, right? I think it is fun though It's trying we were we were just talking about that Yeah We had so my daughter's seven and my son turns five in April and we were good with two We had boy and girl. Yeah, yeah, but my wife and I were 36 and I blame this damn iPhone Because they bring up the memories of them You see all those videos you're like man we miss it We were getting ready to sell all the baby stuff out of the back of the the downstairs basement Yeah, and we're like, man, we're only 36. Let's try it. Let's just do. Yeah We did it and now we're paying for it But like in a good way, like you said, you know, it's tough But it's it's fun and it's cool to kind of be in that that stage Yeah, and you guys were out for a good a good long while though. Yeah, I said your little ones five five Yeah, so, you know, it's true. Like when you're going through it's like the it feels like the worst thing It'll never end you know to a certain stage But then five years in I could tell you we didn't remember what it was like didn't have a sleepless night Because it's been longer. Yeah, remember that stuff. No, you only remember the good and now I remember it and now Yeah, this is pretty rough and especially as you're older too, oh sure, you know when you're younger, you know I quit it's like the hangovers like they just were never that bad at what you put yourself through and then when you're younger And you have kids you're still have energy and stuff and then and then you get older You're like man this I need this sleep. Yes. Everybody's gonna pay the price Yeah, I I think about that a lot Like I remember vividly somebody telling me before I had my my oldest so my daughter is She is two and a half almost three and I remember right before she was born somebody tells me they're like that's a tired like you have never felt before Yeah, you know I thought I was I'll be the first to say I was a totally like naive Idiot person for thinking the way I was thinking because I was like, you know, I've been to college I played played ball in college like those days were long and then I was you know Going to sleep late and waking up early like no big deal It is not the same and it's even harder because you're both tired Yeah, like, you know, that's when I think that's when marriages are tested the most. Oh, yeah I'm I'm an idiot and I'm a jerk because I'm Lacking sleep and so are you 100%? Yeah, I think that's the one thing that we did a lot better this time around is that because we were older We were more understanding of each other and sir made it a little bit easier now. Don't get me wrong We still have our days, of course everybody does but I think the first child It's like you have your days and then you even have like the second guessing like oh, yeah You don't know what you're doing and I'm like and she'll say I don't know what I'm doing, which I don't and you know We don't know what we're doing and we also don't know what page we're on So like yeah, if we solve this problem, which is the best way to do it, right? She's reading her Instagram reels and I'm reading mine on how to do it and you're arguing over doing that while you're sleepless It's just a it's a tough time But then on top of that you can't forget this on top of that it's a whole slew of those things on Instagram or on whatever X or anything that somebody throws out there and they're like By the way, but you didn't know you were doing this wrong Yeah, it's like man. I am apparently doing everything wrong. Yeah, it doesn't matter what it is and it's amazing those little algorithms cuz they knew if we were thinking about having babies because they were showing like what she Should eat when she's pregnant and all this and then they knew when we had the baby because all of a sudden We're getting these like daddies are the best if you do this. Oh, yeah. Oh my gosh, man They're listening to us. Did you did you do the the hospital's sleeping practice? Deal where you like sleep on top of a counter with like a napkin covered over you. I did not I did get Yeah, cuz those I slept on the couch the first night, but it was right. So we had her December 10th Okay, okay. It was right underneath the window So it was cold and it was a leather couch and they gave me one sheet and I was like, yep This ain't enough. So then I double layered Sweats and I moved to this like recliner and just throw that in a corner No by the window. Yep, but yeah, and then we took advantage of the nursery this time, which we didn't do for the first two Yeah, we did the same get it rid of her. Yeah, I remember with our first one my my wife was like I Mean, there's a lot of hormones going on. So I don't know like what she felt but she was like absolutely not okay with Baby going to the nursery. Mm-hmm. She's like what where is she? Tell me where she's at. Yeah Oh, yeah, but they're they're really good about that, but I was just put a mark on the ear. Yeah Like this is my baby. That one's mine. That one's mine. Yeah. I yeah that that was a that was a whole thing So thankfully she did better with that this time because we were both just like yeah All right, just don't do that open-end thing right now. Yeah. Yeah the first one we kept him the whole time And then yeah the second one we're like, no, we'll use it and then the third one definitely use it Yeah, oh, you need to rest. I mean that you do it take it down while you have the hell We had Madden mad at so I've got 12 and 10 when we had Madden It was the he was in this weird birth year pattern in the state of Michigan. We had our worst winter Mm-hmm ever right the the nine months before he was born. Yeah, like this influx of babies came through the world and We tried to get them to take him to the nursery, but the nursery was overcrowded Yeah, so here we are like, oh we yelling down the hallway damnit Linda get your kid It's our turn. Yeah, it was so bad and it was it was a miracle We even had a second one because our first one Hensley kept us in the hospital the whole first year of his life Nothing, but medical issues. You never know it now looking at him. Yeah, and It was a miracle that we even did and then you know I'm talking my grandma was like my best friend and she'd always say are you gonna have it up? Like this world is so jacked and she was breed it out of breed it out of the world She's always telling me but yeah, you know it the kid it's funny because I think back and I do this a lot I I barber for a living so I have a lot of guys that park the rears in my chair Yeah, we thought we spit life and you never remember all these like this. You're gonna forget about this Oh, yeah in a year. Yeah, and it's all about Smiles and the first step and the first run and yeah first like yeah, and you're still gonna be tired Yeah, and you're always like that that I always felt like we were always like we're waiting for the next step Like what is she gonna be able to just do this or do that? And then we don't have to just hold her all the time. You're like the more you're thinking that way I think you miss out your we didn't have time away. Yeah. Yeah on this one We went in with the both the headsets like let's just slow it down And just let's keep her baby as much as we can as long as we can bingo Yeah, so we're taking it all in Yeah, that's so cool. You never regret it. You know, yeah, that's freeing when you surrender I had to do that. In fact, and it's a really funny story in our house with with our first Yeah, I went through Like most men, you know We're in control of your life and control of our path and I especially was I was in the Marine Corps for eight years And so I thank you. I control it. Yeah, you're welcome, man. Thank you I controlled every aspect of my life Yeah, and I sort of really sort of I had the orders Yeah, but I was really good at what I did. Yeah, so I could control it, right? And we have we have Hensley our first and I remember sitting I was rocking him and I was singing simple man By Leonard Skinner. Nice. That's a good one. And just yeah just rocking away singing and I had a conversation with him And I said you're in control dude, like I can't I can't fight this anymore Yeah, I'm trying to control all this stuff about you and I'm wishing this time away Yeah, and it really opened my eyes to just kind of yeah Set back. Yeah. Yeah, take it all in I told I think I was telling you and we had a beer is just the other day that like when you have kids I mean you may not be religious or spiritual, but you have to kind of become one Yeah, because there are so many things that are outside your control. Yeah, and if you try to control you just have no Yeah, no, you know your kid could come out having six arms, you know, I just would never there's nothing you could do Right one of those arms throws 95 then Yeah, it's great but but you know, there could be all these other complications like you have with the health problems Yeah, and you're just like I got to give somebody else control this. Yeah, I can't do it. Yeah, you know, yeah, so It's a it's a great experience. I've cried every time I don't cry ever but I cried every time I had kids Oh, yeah, you came out like it's just a miracle. You see him take their first breath I mean, it's just how do they know how to do that? I know, you know Yeah, exactly all the things that line up. It's like that is just crazy Yeah, just all comes together doesn't it body like yeah the female anatomy to be able to oh, oh man Yeah, holy crap and this isn't for me to get a gold star ladies. Okay, I'm just saying like it's pretty amazing Oh, it is a hundred percent and I don't think yeah I mean, I definitely have never not given my wife enough credit for that She she asked for it, but I know she's like, you know, I gotta get I gotta get fixed now Yeah, I don't want to have any more kids here and she's already like, you know I was up and walking after pushing a baby out, you know in three days So don't think that you're gonna get fixed and then sit on the couch and watch golf And I'm like, but that's I lined it up perfect The busiest time madness or master. Yes Yeah, oh man, that's wild. Unfortunately, I'm going to the Masters this year. So I can't exactly I told her we'll do it next year That's what I was gonna say. That's a crazy. It's a crazy cool thing to talk about. So It's awesome. You had a kid love it I'm glad that we got to talk about it and kind of work through our dad issues that we know are there. Yeah Tell us a little bit about you As a business owner and what you do. So this is actually I actually started my first business when I was 23 okay, and I'm 36 now and My first business was basically it would be like a single-man LLC like a startup like I get I I Learned how when I got out of school just to develop code and design stuff sure, so I was like now I can build websites and so I managed a website development company that had like six developers and Did that for another guy for a long time and then just kind of realized, you know, what am I doing? Yeah, why am I doing that? Why don't I do it for myself because I hated being pinned down to a Computer, right and he just watched me. He's like I want you here from eight to five years old school I'm like, well, I got nothing to do like there's no customers. There's no there's no tickets There's nothing right now. Like I'd love to just go to the gym or play golf or it's nice outside Or sit outside work from the coffee shop, you know Yeah, it was just locked into this table and I was like, I'm just gonna do this myself because I can do that from whatever so I set out and and built, you know, probably 60 customers or clients and website stuff and then Realized that like, you know, it's fun. It's good. It pays the bills, but it's not like teach me business It's like I charge X amount for an hour Yeah, and then I do that and then I give you a retainer to keep it going and it's like You couldn't scale it because if I hired somebody then I'd make twice as much money as a business But I'd only maybe I would make twice as much myself I'd have to face my else that right and then you keep thinking about the scales I'm like, well then I'm taking on this responsibility of managing people and getting them here for not any increase Yeah, I couldn't figure it out. So I kind of just put that on ice and and I'd always been looking for a way to have a product business sure and Unfortunately, it kind of like, you know, you have all these ideas But I think and I have like an ideas book like I just write them down because I gotta get them out of my head Yeah, I was thinking about them constantly and the easiest ones are easier to run with that don't need the most capital. Yep Yep, and unfortunately, so my wife had her dad had passed away. This would have been like 2017 I think it was or 16 right before we got married and He died he was a long lifetime smoker, okay, and so he died he had lung cancer and That's rough. I played golf that summer and I get this idea for the cigar company Yeah, and so my first thing I have to do is go pass it by my wife. Yeah. Yeah. Good luck I know you just lost your dad to smoking and I want to start a smoking business like not not easy Try to lay that out. Yeah But as soon as I told her like the business plan and I'm like, hey Here's how much I think we could make if we invest this and do that. Yes, I don't care She's like I want the money. Yeah. All right. Well, let's go do it first in my arm. Yeah, so it was a low There's a low entry point, you know, you could kind of say hey I have a goal of you know coming out with a cigar business and I'm gonna have four brands and How many cigars I need per brand and how many courses do I need or because that we were targeting golf courses for retailers And it was kind of like, you know I could put a little bit of capital in this and I'll make it back pretty easily And if I don't then we just pull the plug and say yeah idea Yeah, so that's kind of like literally how we got started and I I think we that was Right when we had just had our daughter. Mm-hmm. And so I remember you just work all day and then Do the daughter thing in the afternoon from like five to nine? Yeah, then go back down to my office and make myself a drink and then work from 9 till 2 a.m Yep, and just design build, you know worked with a lot of suppliers overseas Yeah, it's perfect for their time and man when I was you know, 27 28. I could do that pretty sure I can't do that now, but but when it's in build mode, you know, there's this like adrenaline that comes and it's excitement It's a high man. Oh, I get it pushes you to go and you're just so pumped to just like get the family Down and do it again. Yeah, and I just did that for About four months and got so the idea came in 2018 and then our first golf season was in spring of 2019 Oh, wow. Yeah, so in about you know, five five months. We had had an idea to products in hand to Delivering the golf course And it ended up working and the coolest thing I think about the business is that we thought like If we build, you know a better mouse or a cooler mousetrap. It's not yeah, like all the cigars They're they're great. Everything sure, you know I wouldn't say that we're any better than anybody else But we thought if we build a cooler one that golfers would like then they'll sell more right? We came to the market for like the first three years just telling courses You want to sell ours because ours are cooler and you'll sell more so you'll make more and all that That's not what happened. We got in and we got I mean we got a couple people to buy for sure But I think looking back what we realized is like actually we are disrupting an entire like Distribution channel of how cigars get to golf courses. Yeah, and how they're able to sell and make money Yeah, and so when we realize that we're like, wait a minute who cares what labels on them? They don't really care. They care that we just cut out all this online competition that's undercutting them Yeah, and now they have to come to us and they have to use a different brand That's not on these competitor websites, right? Right. So so golfers can't just go buy You know the same cigar that they're selling at the club for 60% off online and bring it to the course, right? So why would you sell that that that cigar there? You can't because it's twice as expensive and nobody's gonna pay for it So then they realize we realize that now we're now we've really start to pour some you know, gasoline on the fire Yeah, and it's been great, you know, we're up to This is a probably our sixth or seventh golf season and we went from 30 courses our first year Covid year or that sucked but that was great about cigars was you know, it doesn't take up a lot of room You can write you can buy them you can sit on them You can maintain them you could wait it out a year and then we came back 2021 about the same as 2019 and then 2022 we hired some sales guys and we probably went up 300% Yeah, so that's crazy. And then and then from there we they kept on and we're probably you know, we're growing about 50% Year over year. Wow. Yeah, and it's and we're up to about 200 courses I think we sold 40,000 cigars. It's still not big in terms of like the cigar Industry, you know like the Rocky Battelle's and sure sure millions, but it's big for you know Yeah, and it's fun and it's taught us a lot, you know So it's been it's been a good journey. It's been a good ride You know, we're learning things every day and now we're getting into you know, different products. So yeah, what do you have there? So I have my nicotine pouches and I just gave Nick one. Oh man It's been in for what 15 minutes? Flavors great, isn't it? Yeah, and it like you said, it's not gonna it is the eight milligram Yeah, but I'm not getting a huge rush. No, right. No, it's like my other brand that you saw and you're like, no No, man. Yeah, so I I get those two and I did I did them all and then You know and I was telling you this at the bar. I said this this idea came Not like we wanted to do it So it was it was it's one of these weird things where you kind of get in this position As a business and you realize like okay, we could keep going down this route But we have customers who are asking us. Can you come out with nicotine pouches? Can you can you resell? Yeah, so our first initiative is sure we can now that we kind of this distribution channel and we're selling into all these courses Whatever you want to buy from us golf balls, whatever we'll sell them to you. Sure We just got to strike partnerships with the right brands Yeah, so we reach out to all the manufacturers that do the nicotine pouches and they give us the heave-ho they're on a shortage They can't cover their own demand for everywhere else They're shit. Yeah, and then there's they're saying if they occasionally get product quality issues And they won't guarantee us like any buybacks or anything like this and I'm like, wow I can't jeopardize the relationships we built with all these 200 courses That's not gonna be there for us and not gonna deliver So we're like, alright, and they didn't even give us very good pricing for us or the courses So we're like, you know what? Let's just do our own thing. And so it was a it was kind of a like Like a hurdle where you kind of go I always turn around maybe not do it, but then you kind of go Well, what's this? What's the benefit if we push through this and do our own thing? Well, one of them is we get it decide what kind we want to make and how yeah We're how do we want to price it, you know? and so we the same way we did with the cigars we we contact factories all over the world there had to be a dozen or more and We just said hey, do you white label or would you make pouches for us? And we're trying to get it into America and we had them from all over the place the China ones were the funniest because They came over and half of them were exploded and covered in the powder You're like I'm not trying that happens. Okay. Yeah, I hate that Yeah, and then it's unlike you're out and then there's some other ones where they they made it over and I had You know three or four buddies. I'm like, let's all test them Yeah, you know and together so we got on the back deck and we had just cans everywhere We're just trying to sample and see which one won't kill us. And there's a couple where they're like This is a four and it hit me like a 40, you know, I'm like, oh man can't do that spit it out You forgot the zero man. Yeah and so we luckily we found one and ours is actually made in a factory in Sweden and That's like the Mecca. It is it is we and you know didn't have any I'm a connoisseur man Are you see they are I they have their stuff down. They do Estonia Another good good country, so we had one from there. We had one from Poland Romania. Europe was really good quality. Yeah The language the time zones the minimums like that all comes into play the price and obviously sure this this company in Sweden was by far the best and We sampled theirs never had a problem and then You know, we I was a big wintergreen guy. That's what you had. Yeah. Yeah So I said, could you do wintergreen for me? I mean I'll switch to them and they were telling us that to do a new recipe or flavor it takes like 18 months because there's like They said that there's 280 different like, you know components that goes into making wintergreen, right? There's like a recipe and everybody's wintergreen recipes a little bit different. Yeah, so they would it really is Yeah, I can vouch for that. Yeah, so he's like we don't do that right now But you know if you give me 18 months, I'm like, dude, I need these by next golf season Because I told him we'd do it right so we went with some flavors that they had already had which was a cool mint in our Watermelon water bones what I have and that's what I incredible Yeah, and I actually I came out with them and I was like, I don't know if I'll be able to get off my brains I like my stuff. But when I got our first ones, I was like actually these are a lot better I did I can vouch for it. Yeah, I'm like, I'm hard to impress. Yeah. Yeah, it's Swedish stuff I have a buddy of mine He is a local coach for a powerlifting team okay University here and They just went over to worlds in Estonia. And so he brought back a bunch of cans for me Yeah, dude, they have like a 24 milligram. Oh, yeah They the lowest they sent me was like a 16 and I was like, yeah, they do high stuff over there They're nuts over there man And I was like, oh, I mean I got to try it and I'm more trying for the consistency and the flavors Yeah, and so I would put the 16 in but I would get rid of it in about five minutes Yeah, sure. Yeah going up that high, you know, but yeah Europe's no joke. They make really good stuff They're a lot different but I do know like a lot of my golfing buddies at the club You know, they're ordering from snus.com. Yeah, I'm getting things over from Europe because I like the quality is better quality Yeah, so like I said, I met with Casey's general store earlier today. Yeah, and I was saying hey while everybody You know all the manufacturer first of all 12 figure Market so we're talking hundreds of billions of dollars Yeah, I think Zen sold the sweetest match for like 18 billion, right and there's only five brands in this thing So like if you think about it, it's like there's a lot of money and opportunity here Yeah now Zen probably own 70% of the market but like you're giving me 2% of a hundred two hundred billion dollar market Yeah, I'll take it all day. So I was telling the the Casey's guys I said when we didn't set out to make one we have one now and what we have and what we found is Everybody's going cheaper and and trying to get you know, who can get under two dollars at Casey's because that's where they buy, right? We're on the opposite side. Somebody's got to go top shelf because nobody's doing that right? So Let's partner with Europe. They make better stuff We it's a little bit more expensive for us and it's gonna be more expensive for the user But it's gonna be a nicer experience for him. But if it's consistent exactly, that's That's the thing. I quit I quit chewing October will be five years. Okay I was like a can can and a half of the real stuff of the real stuff Right and and which some of that probably goes back to your your military Oh, like nothing other nothing else to do worm dirt, man. Yeah, you know Copenhagen. Yeah Yeah, I mean I say but really I love it. Yeah, I I Promised my boys that I would stop good for you How do I stop right? I'm like right to patches. I've tried the lozenges. I'm trying this tried that and and Man, it wasn't it wasn't Zen. I Can't remember the name. All I know is it didn't make me feel good. Was it tobacco free? It was tobacco free. I can't remember the name. Anyway, it'll come to me. Yeah didn't enjoy it and I turned into a bear, right? Like my wife's like you need something. Yeah, yeah an animal Yeah, and it's like the one thing I have left right like I quit drinking I quit all the bad stuff I gave up and it's like I need I need my one thing so anyway, I ended up switching over to Zen and Then what I had when you came in that rogue, which I love. Yeah, I love it. Yes It it was the one that was consistent. Yeah, and it's moist, which is what I liked Yeah, but yours the thing I'm gonna flex on you real quick here The thing that I liked about that pouch is it was full. Yeah, it's yeah, really Okay, so you get zens and you get and you might I don't know if you're gonna have to bleep this out Or not, but with with my name brand stuff here, but I don't know free press Yeah, you'll get pouches. Yeah That explode. Yeah, or some that are what I call my juicy honkers. Yeah, right. Yeah, which is great Yeah, but each one's different and that when I open your can was perfect. Yeah, and each one's full Yeah, and my flavors still here and we didn't say this But I'd also say the other thing I had a difference was ours are a lot slimmer so yeah, like I would do the rogues and I Like back, you know, I'm right here. Yeah, I used to put them up front But I've got like some gum recession. And so when it gets on my teeth it wears the enamel out And so when I throw a rogue or is in the back, it's so fat Yeah, it gets back up on it gets back up and I could only do two or three and then the next morning It's hard to brush my teeth. Yeah, and so with these what I like it stays all in the gums and it's summer Yeah, and I like the moist one too. I went to a not to knock on Casey's I don't think it's their fault But I was in the middle of Missouri heading to Warrenton and stopped at a Casey's bought a rogue Mango and I looked on the back and that thing had been there and expired for yeah And it was dead dry and it was supposed to be a juice pouch, right? No, and I'm like damn and I was like it can't be that bad. I put a couple in I'm like It's that bad rough. This is yeah, it's sandpaper. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, so yeah, I've got we've got these in now They just landed we had we got 20,000 delivered and we're launching them Saturday on our website and And then obviously we're distributing them all to the courses and 20,000 was the minimum they told me yeah, and I was like man, that's a lot I go we'll call you in two years when we need more and actually the demands been so high since you kind of made The announcement like I might be calling them in May and saying that's incredible Yeah, it's wild. I love it wild. That is crazy. And it's I'll tell you like the cool thing about this Is that especially if you're doing the business is like like I've told you about some of our influencers and stuff It is if you build like kind of a cool product and you kind of find The people that have that influence or have a lot of following and you and it marries like that's it's one thing that like So so bubby From good good is a partner with us now, but like I always watched their videos You know, they have millions of videos on YouTube and I'm like that guy's always smoking a cigar and he's always playing golf We are golfing cigars. I'm like, he's the master. Like we gotta find a way to get to this guy Yeah, and we found a way funny story. We should tell it. Yeah, we found a way to get to him and And now it's like, okay Well, you know, he has a bunch of fans that are famous and influencers as well And it's like if we come out with these well, he's got a guy that does these there all day He's like, yeah, he's got millions of followers. He's like he wants it and then this guy wants it Yeah, it just catches fire so all you gotta do is kind of build the network through one part of a business and you can Make avenues and passageways that allow you to to get even wider and bigger and it's just kind of now It's just like kind of taken. I have no control like no Love about this mindset is we have this mindset where we have a product now that we're bringing like we He brought this up to me sitting in my barber chair. Let's start a two years. I'm like, yeah, yeah insane, dude I've never done radio. I've never done pocket like why yeah, but Now we're here and we're creating these new relationships Yeah, right. So we're trying to tap in and grow for people to hear you. Yeah. Yeah learn about us Yeah, yeah about what we're bringing to the table, which is real life. Yeah, like yeah, I just dude like it's crazy I you need to get a major league baseball player on your side nukes. Are you kill? Yeah feels like there might might be a way I'm hitting new We've got we got a couple of the world long drive guys They hit him like 400 yards. No big day and they've been using the nuke stuff as they're slaying And that's kind of why we started it was like it's not an athlete Yeah to it, you know, and that's we're all kind of you know ex athletes or trying to be golfers or whatever So it's just it was funny play. It was a simple thing. It was it was available which I was talked about Yeah, so we love them. We love the name. We love the brand. It's kind of catching on. Yeah, man Thank you. The brand name goes a long way. I'm gonna get yeah I'll get my dad hooked up to because my dad he was a big chewer this whole life. Well, he doesn't know that So tell him a little bit about your dad. So yeah, so my dad Had his tour card for three years. No way Yeah, so he played some PGA tournaments and back it when I was in high school I would caddy at some of the smaller events and I was always a regular at the Buick open when it was the Buick open in Detroit. Yeah I mean shoot he did a lot of the Nike tour events too. He'd show up to like Quad City classic John Deere. Yeah But mostly mostly some of the lower lower He he worked a nine-to-five but his the company that he worked for he was a financial officer Okay for a big bakery baked it based out of Fort Wayne, Indiana and they they give him a sabbatical you know to like go golf or whatever and Big tour himself and I know he says he quit. I don't Is my old man? Yeah Yeah, like here dad pop a nuke. Yeah We can hook you up. You know, it's all I just told you I'm about five minutes. Yeah Yeah, sitting there. So pick your flavor pick your milligrams. Awesome. Come on through. Yeah, my dad My dad was so funny, man. I Always he's always been like that long drive guy. Yeah, and he wasn't a long drive competition guy I remember him being at Quad City classic when it was a Nike event He we were playing a par four it was like the third or fourth hole and it was playing like four 430 this day. He had a little bit of a wind at his back. He overdrove by 80 yards Smoked this ball. Yeah. Yeah granted. There was a little wind at his back, but he he got the nickname McGill a gorilla All of his clubhead covers are gorillas now Yeah, that's awesome that is sweet he's a nut I did he'll appreciate me bringing this up to I did save his rear end at the Buick Open It was the first hole and it ran parallel with the driving range Okay, and they had a really nice and net up but occasionally you get a ball coming over and and it would land somewhere in the field of play and He hits his drive. He goes about 380 to the right behind a bunker. He was in the rough and He addresses a ball and I'm thinking he's not doing this is he just before he starts to pull back I said dad you better stop Straight-up looks at me. He goes better be fucking good. Yeah. Yeah, I go. Yeah, I'm really sorry. Yeah, that's not your ball Yeah, what do you mean us up? That's that's not my ball. We had a call over a score official He didn't address it. He didn't attempt. Yeah thing he hold out. No So I got that I saved his butt that's a cool story at the turn yeah anything you want How old were you then I was 17 17. Yeah, see I know that I have a son too I'm like if my son told me something like that be what are you doing? Yeah That's what my dad said yeah That's what we said man. We we talked about things that people don't talk about I was I was out on the course one time. We were paired up with daily and No big deal. Yeah. Oh my gosh This is gonna kill me British guy Tiger Woods Colin Montgomery, oh Montgomery. Yeah. Yep. Yeah, and They were awesome. Yeah, they were really cool. Yeah, and then it was the next year I remember looking at my dad as an 18 year old at this point I'm like, why is he wearing a sweatshirt? It's 90 degrees and shaking. Yeah, it was John. Yeah, of course He decided that week to quit drinking his beer. Oh, really? Yeah, it was wild that guy still golf like crazy Yeah, yeah, it was nuts and now his son's getting ready to play. Yeah. Yeah him and Charlie are about the same. Yeah Yeah, that's gonna be exciting. Yeah, it'd be a new new role for golf and I'm excited about the PGA and the L the live Possible merger and get yeah course cuz it's been rough. There's been some events where the golfers don't go and it's like It's good. It's good to watch different people, but it's just not right It's not the people you're used to watching, you know, yeah, and then you got the TGL stuff is kind of cool Yeah Watching that yeah, yeah, I think it got golfs in a good space I think ever since kovat obviously it's been wildly more popular if you're trying to get a chair where you don't belong To club. Yeah your hose. Yeah So that's been good, but the professional league they've just they've missed it You know, I equate it kind of like the NBA like yeah what the NHL just did with the all-star game Yeah, that was the coolest thing ever and it was all how does golf not figure out an all-star week, right? All the golfers should yeah, you know be awesome Well, you could easily do skills competitions and things like that around that too So it'd be super cool to like expand out and I mean I think the thing right now that I've thought this for a long time because it's funny that you bring it up Is the thing that I think is wild is that? They they're aiming for that extra thing that is gonna bring in viewership, right? Which I would argue like, you know, live has done a little bit of that. And yeah, I mean just this just the separation of leagues They're like well, I want to check this out So that's probably a part of it But then bringing in TGL a totally different style of play figure out how to do that in front of people and sit in One space and do it. That's pretty cool But like bring it to like more excitement like people hitting the damn ball in the hole 30 times out of a hundred because that's what they're doing on this skills competition Like that's cool. Yeah, let's get the happy Gilmore thing going right like Well, we see it on YouTube all the time like I really remember the first time that I saw the It may have actually even been With some of the guys that originally started like out and good good and stuff But Rory did one where he was hitting a ball into a dryer Yeah, I remember that like like that that kind of stuff like yeah I sat and watched that video because I thought it was hilarious and cool to see this guy just smashed a ball Into a dryer that's up on a post They need a week where the golfers aren't so tense because this is how they live, right? Yeah, so that so everything they do like they don't want people following them and kind of doing the YouTube thing, right? Right, but the YouTube golf is so popular because I feel like I'm hitting the shot with the guys Yeah, and they're talking. Yeah telling you what they're doing and why they're doing it Maybe it's more fun cuz I'm seeing average golfers, but they're getting pretty damn good, right? It's like I'm just seeing good golf now But from a different angle and if you did an all-star week with the PGA, you know It's not for money. Yeah, it's just part of your contract and playing on the tour That would be sweet and then so you could have a little more fun We could mickey up. Yeah walk around with you on a camera. It's brought to you by nukes. Yeah, that's right Brought to you by nukes exactly Even something similar to like how banana ball exists now for Savannah bananas, you know, like that's like Yeah, yeah, like how cool would it be to see some dude just absolutely nuke one down the down the middle of the fairway After after just yeah, you know center that it's just tapping it on his club Yeah, you know and then just whack like how cool would that be in the middle of play? Yeah, like not just not just on a driving range, right? Like I'm actually out here to win. Yeah, that would be cool as hell It'd be fun to have more of the team event Like I like what yeah live did but I don't like the naming of them Maybe they have sponsors sure like team Taylor made or whatever. Yeah. Yeah, but I do like that You know, I think that's the fun part of golf Like we all like playing golf, but like my favorite time is my men's league partner, you know on Wednesday night We're both playing best ball and I'm pulling for him and he's pulling for me and he's helping me with reads You know and then obviously you have the four-man scramble format You can do so many formats with teams that like it just makes golf less pressure on yourself. Yeah Yeah, I definitely think there's an opportunity here and just hear me out. Okay Whoa silly camera Don't do that. His heart monitor is going crazy I know my camera tapped off on us. Whatever. We'll make it work. We roll with it There's an opportunity here and and just hear me out for a second What if? We add more fights into golf just like in golf then hockey and hockey You know, it's like something like hey, you know instead of like in TGL they throw the hammer for double points It's like whoever comes out of it. Yeah, they get a stroke off this hole Yeah Yeah, I see a wrestle start seeing guys taking their polos. Yeah first one to get the ball out of the cup or something Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Yeah. All right. There's an alligator up there. Go get the ball from it. Yeah. Yeah. No man something I do like that full contact golf. Wasn't there a Super Bowl commercial? I Don't know. I don't even remember man. Super Bowl commercials. I just remember the what was it the office? The guy that was running around the office swatting everybody There's a middle linebacker too. That's right. Yeah office linebacker. Yeah, just taking people out Yes, they don't make more like that anymore. No, no that Yeah, that needs to come back that and then the movies I feel like the movie scene has gone down They don't make comedies anymore like they used to know we were seriously just talking about this today in the shop Yeah, what happened to so the closest I got to it today with with a client the chair was Deadpool Deadpool however is still an action movie action hero Comedy straight comedy, right? It's been forever. Here's my dog. This is the second time he made an appearance. That's right But More people will watch for Winston My business about tripled when he started coming to the barbershop. That's right. I bet come on buddy. Here you go Yeah, the comedy yeah the comedy scenes gone down it is yeah I am I think stand-ups cut making a comeback because like I've watched a lot of Facebook or Instagram reels of some of my favorite comics and they're they're finally back into the into the rhythm of yeah Feeling like they can say jokes that they want to say. Yeah, and I think then movies will will maybe chase afterwards But boy, we went through a little dark area like we have your wedding crashers I don't think there's a fan after that. Yeah, that was kind of the end of the era. Yeah, right. Yeah, that's true That's a good point. There's some random things that came out probably after that step brothers step brothers I was gonna say that came out. We were real dependent there on on like Will Ferrell movies Yeah, yeah bonds and you know, we need it. Yeah, we need a new era new generation of funny We do who's step up. Yeah, that's right. This is a call out. Whoever's listening to this, please I can only be so funny. Okay, that's right. We can only do it for so long. Yeah. Yeah. No, that's awesome, dude Very cool. It's awesome what you're doing and it's cool to see you doing it. Thank you. Thank you It's been I mean, it's like I said it, you know The funniest thing is when we started the cigars it came from like just an experience. We were we were playing OP West and This was like 2018 and the July it was me and three other buddies and we all had wives and kids and so Obviously, you don't get a Saturday. Sure. I had to go do that very often So these are my child like my childhood friends I grew up in that neighborhood who hadn't played and back then we were probably like 18 Handicaps. Yeah, and You know, we played is a short part four But we played it and three of the four of us birdied the same hole and so I mean this may be the first bird in five years. Yeah, so it's like let's party Let's celebrate and we've been drinking all day. So taking more drinks probably wasn't the best solution And there was no cart girl near us So we were kind of just stuck with what we had and we didn't really celebrate it But I had one buddy his name's Ty Crowder. Give him a shout out. He's the godfather of greenside cigars he comes up to the next tea is a par 3 and He cuts and lights a cigar and I'm like, dude, I didn't know you smoke cigars and he's like he's like Yeah, I only do them like on weddings and fantasy football drafts. And then if I make a birdie I was like that's insane. He's like, yeah, I call it my I call it my birdie Stokey, but it wasn't our birdie Stokey it was just a cigar He kept in his golf bag and if he had a birdie that day Scar out and it was his birdie. So that's awesome. And so I was like, man, that's awesome I said, you know, we made birdies to do you have another one? He's like, this is my last one, dude I'm sorry. So obviously we go back to making double bogeys, you know Very shortly after that and we're now saying cuss words and we're now not as happy anymore And he's still happy as a claim about that birdie and he's still smoking that cigar Yeah, it smells so good out there and I remember I came to a stoplight like a week later kind of near the course and I went back to Like she stiffed me like that. Yeah, I need to carry a cigar in my golf bag all the time Why is there not something there to remind me to carry get a cigar, you know before I go out? Yeah, and that's when we came up with like we should we should launch this birdie Stokey thing And so I texted him I said hey Would you want to do something about that birdie Stokey? Yeah I'm like what let's make an actual birdie Stokey and that'll help people remind it to bring it And he's like he's he was like, yeah, I think he was selling insurance He's just like I'm not that type of person. I don't have that in me He's like, why don't you just do it and I was like, all right. Are you sure? He's like, yeah I said he's like what you go can't do anything for you. Do you want any part of this one? He's like, dude, just make sure I get an infinite supply of birdie Stokeys and we're good And then you know all that work goes into a come back and and where we're at now now He's like, how do I get into this? Like you've now taken it to a new level But it was funny because we were kind of forced to it, you know You're forced to because we go to the golf course like hey Will you buy our birdie Stokey and resell it and they're like, yeah, but we have a cigar vendor already We don't want to do too So go back to the drawing board if you come up with like two or three options We'll carry all three and then we'll kick the other guys out and I was like, oh, okay You know, these are obviously courses that I have a relationship with you're kind of getting that in Yeah, and so I'm like, oh, okay So then we went back and like let's do the par and the bogey and we got different price points and every So it was a little different and then we go back to him He's like, all right, we're in and oh by the way, we got bought by great life And so now I need you to do it for 30 other courses. I'm like, oh my god. Okay Yeah, we got to order more cigars And displays and all the things that went with it and then kind of rolled it out and now we've been just hammering it ever since It's been fun because it's taken us places I tell my wife like, you know, I don't take any money really out of it because I was telling you the other night Yeah, you know when you're you got a business that's growing at like 50% Yeah And your margins are 30 40% when it's all said and done You got to cut a check for that 10% growth for the next year every year You're not making enough money in the bank to fund the growth So it's like you can't take anything out and you're actually putting more in every year, right? Yeah, and until that that you know that profit margin peaks up over your growth, right? There's nothing you can skim out. You have to keep it in the business. So I told her I was like I don't know if it will ever do it, you know We're just growing too well and I'm okay with that because if we're there's ever a point where we're not growing It's probably a dark side of the company. We're heading the wrong direction. Sure Yeah, so you kind of live with it, but I was like it takes us cool places. We got to go do Derek Jeter celebrity golf in Las Vegas It was at Shadow Creek, which is right after they just did the Tiger yeah Yeah, and it's like two thousand dollars to play you got to stay on the resort and you have to be Ushered in with one of their cars like they block they block the entrance and if you're not in their car They turn you around and so we got in and we did that We obviously got to meet Derek Jeter and all of his celebrity friends that were there you know Paige Spraniac and and all them and then We do that one year and then we get called back and then Mark Wahlberg's doing it the same place and we're like We'll go do Mark Wahlberg. So we meet him. Yeah, that's awesome And then is he as nice as he seems? Yeah, he just seems like one of those guys I just wants to bro out with you all the time. Yeah, he's he's actually quite reserved Like he doesn't he doesn't talk a lot and I think it was more because it was his tournament He was kind of like I don't want it to be about me. That's the sense I got Make me feel like everybody else. Yeah, there were some celebrities that were like not having it like didn't want You know to shake your hand didn't want to play golf or maybe they had a bad golf day I don't sure but most of them were kind of were fun. Like hey, we're here for fun You're here for charity. Yeah, you know and we donated to that just to get in there, right? It was funny. We we were guaranteed when we went and did that event I said I got to play Shadow Creek like I'm not gonna play And so the guy said okay you can do it but you can go on the practice round The day before the tournament and so I'm like, alright, so I go and play and I'm trying to remember the guy's name the first time I played this was in the Derek cheater one. Who's the guy that? Nolan Ryan catches and just starts pumbling. Oh from the white Yeah, Ventura Ventura. Yes. Yes. Her is my partner. He gets in my heart Yeah, and and then I ride a limo back with Joey from Fatone from in sync to the He takes a call on eat the e-channel as we're doing as you're and he had been drinking all day And he's like just giggling with us on questions, you know, then they answer them on the live deal It was hilarious, but we played we played golf with him and and got to play there And but I was like under the impression like okay, so I this is kind of just starting the business This is a big cost for me to come out here. Yeah and donate all this So I don't really think I can afford to play but I want to play so if you give me the chance to play I'll I'm gonna do it. So I thought it was free. So I come back and my wife was with me on this Mark Wahlberg one and I come back and I checked the credit card and I'm like dang, there's a 1750 charge on there, you know, and I'm like that's pretty much what they charge for for playing and then I realized we actually went to the pro shop afterwards and Picked out some things cuz we didn't think we'd ever be back Yeah bought everything we could and it was actually our pro shop bill from like getting the apparel and stuff from Shadow Creek They didn't charge me for golf, but I thought they Saw that bill. I was like dang it. They did charge me I was like I wouldn't have played it the second time if I'd known but yeah, no, they didn't charge me They that's awesome. It was it was a cool experience. You meet those people and then like our partners you know, bubby and Blake from good good and Just I mean it's so cool cuz you go from like that's it that's another cool story is yeah You know when you're trying to get into like an influencer the algorithm on Instagram They just funnel you this dead, you know, boy. Oh, yeah. Yeah, so yeah, he had bought a cigar He had played Sunflower Hills, which is a customer of ours and he had bought one of our cigars He was smoking it in one of the videos. And so my one of my reps is a huge good good fan He texts me goes dude, we're on the good good video. I'm like no way. Yeah, he goes Yeah, they played Sunflower and they had a mulligan cigar. I'm like, oh no way So we watched a little thing. So then we're really trying to get in his inbox like don't ever pay for a cigar We will give them to you for free forever, you know, just every time you're playing in good good Like smoke one of our cigars. Yeah, and we couldn't get into his inbox So then they do good good does like a putter release. Oh, yeah Yeah in Dallas and I think I had a wedding or something that we can I couldn't go so I was like I go Hey Zach, he's our rep in North Carolina. He's the big good good fan I said, hey if I fly you down there and get you a hotel Will you go to this thing and just hand bubby the box of cigars and tell him we want to work with him? And he's like, yeah Well Zach went down there He ended up winning the putting contest won the putter and then won a free like hour to hang out with good good afterwards Yeah stole their putter yeah got the box accomplished Yeah, bubby did get you know, we got his phone number and we started talking to him Deal and but like he went down there and just robbed the whole It was so cool and then, you know, obviously we're like, you know for bubby to start we're just like hey man Just product placement. We'll just send you as many cigars you want You never have to buy another cigar and we did that for like three or four months And then he was always like, you know, I've always wanted to own my own cigar Like could I could I work with you guys to do the bubby Stokey and I was like absolutely so we built his own cigar and Boxing and everything he did the recipe so we got like 50 samples. We sent them down to him He picked out what his recipe and what his profile was We did the design for him on the logo and the branding and all the boxing put it all together And then we launched it. I think it would be two years ago now like right in middle of summer and we just kind of Said hey, let's launch 500 boxes. There's 10 cigars in a box about 5,000 You can do yeah, and they were like 150 bucks a box and he sold all of them in about four days Jeez, yeah And and so much incredible dude so much that it caused us problems because our credit card Processor had a limit on how much money we could take in which I was clueless about I never thought we'd ever hit a limit and thresholds Yeah and they blackmailed us and then they kept our money for like Three months six months nine months cuz they're like they thought it was fraud Oh, and so now I'm like I need that money to go buy more for him So we can get him back in and they they kept it all off and so like it was a really tough Season after that a couple months. We're like that is that capital is huge for us Yeah, and to keep funding and doing more cool things and I just remember him giving us those kinds of problems Yeah, and then we're kind of like all right. Well, then he keeps asking for more, right? Well, okay I'm more than just my cigar. I want to be part of the company Like I want to sell all of your cigars you got we come out with nukes like I'm a big nukes guy Like let's do that too. And so yeah, it's cool because then it's like, you know, you know We need more people like bubby and he's got so many people on his Instagram and his phone book that it's just yeah It's a call away and that would be something that we would have never had a chance to do Yeah, yeah, because not all of them are doing putter competitions. We can go win. So that's true That's a great story. Yeah, it is but it's just that next step, right? Like it's I think that that's also a testament to like just being in that like being in the room, right? Like trying to get into that space and I think that the reality is is that and doing it the right way Yeah, like persevering to it like figuring out how to make it happen and going and making that thing happen Wendling anybody you're not it's it's not dirty. Yeah, it's very clean All-american. Yeah, I think this is awesome dude. Yeah, you gotta love it You got to take care because I think you lean on relationships so much in business And it is so hard to get a relationship back Yeah a lot of times and you don't want you don't you got enough things working against you You don't want a crowd of people working go shit, too Yeah, right. So it's like we were very upfront like hey, this is we can afford to give you in terms of a royalty He bitted us up like another four or five percent, but we caved because we're like we kind of need it So let's just find a way to do it. Yeah, and then we worked him into a deal And so it was like we were on our third deal now where I was like, alright Let's do a deal with the company, but we got to take your royalty off and do this and then like, you know He's like I want to be an investor. I want to own part of the business or a part of the company I'm like, okay Well, you know we can do it two ways you can write a check or we can go off of sales You produce sure with your cigars or online because really the only time we had been getting big spikes online was when the influencers were Sharing us. Yeah, and so we could automatically like Relate all of those that revenue to his doing Right, so and we've worked and like I said We've worked this deal two or three times to make it to where he can sell more things for us Yeah, still get the credit for it. Yeah, and he doesn't have to write a check into the business Yeah, so so he's helping us grow and and that's what you I think you if my biggest advice would be if somebody's out there starting a business is If you want to partner with somebody partner with somebody that's gonna help you get sales or gonna Yeah, really take something off for you Yeah, don't partner with somebody because you need the money to fund something, right? Like that's a that's a bad reason because that money goes real quick Yeah, and then you're gonna need more and you're gonna pay back. That's right Yeah, and and then you by the time you turn around you're like, I only own 18% of this company. Right, you know What am I doing this for? Yeah, so yeah, it's a joke man. Yeah, that's awesome You've got some cool stories and how this has come to be and that's that's pretty sweet to hear and I think it's A lot of the like I said, it's kind of a testament to just like perseverance and wanting to do a thing and making It happen, but also just like hey, I believe in this. I think this is cool That's something I enjoy and I had a good idea about and even the story of how it became is just hilarious It's an epic story And it's just like that's that's exactly what we mean Like it's there was something that happened that you were just out doing and then now all of a sudden it's this Yeah, right like it wasn't like you weren't out looking for this like it fully found you Yeah, and and you just kind of like hmm. It's weird, you know You got to listen I think to yourself like I get these signs a lot So like another funny story. So one of our other influencers is the black rain on Instagram Yeah, his name is teal barber. He's kind of got this He's a you know black guy with long dreads used to be at XPJ Pro But his whole thing is like life at a country come he's got this mantra this kind of fake like oh I'm just too bougie and too good. It's really good content. It's really funny, but he he he He texted me just like three weeks ago, and we are gonna launch his cigar this April and he's like hey I've got this event in Miami I'd love to have ten boxes and we had just got done doing the PJ show together Yeah, and we had just some samples and so we don't really have things we can just go ten sure Right. I'm like man. I think I think we're out cuz we sold them all at the PJ show I go let me go check I go down there We have ten boxes and that's it and I'm just like Wow. How does that happen? Yeah, like that's a sign Yeah, okay. Let's load them up. Let's send them out to him, but I'm gonna tell him like no more after this We gotta wait till April. Yeah, these are the last ones Yeah But it was like just amazing how we went to the PJ show and we brought probably 25 or whatever and he took some back with them we sold a couple and brought back we unpacked them set them down the Table and I was like, I think there's only like four or five down there went down there ten exactly and it's like All right, you have them now. That's awesome it's just kind of like small things where I and at so many times we're like We sometimes have to put some different labels on our cigars and stuff and it's like I need I need 20 of these Yeah, I just grabbed 20 labels, but I didn't count and it's like the perfect amount. Yeah You're like like just these signs that like what we're doing is is meant to be where we're supposed to be yeah You know, yeah, and it's just those small little reassurances But there's so many highs and lows with it cuz you'll go like the time where we sold all those bubbies We couldn't get our money. I'm like this is gonna put us under like this is the worst couple months of my life Yeah, like I had a deal with this guy. I told him I'd pay him the money and I'm telling him right now He probably thinks I'm pulling his leg cuz we'd only been partners for three months. Yeah, you know, and he's like he's he's robbing me I'm like I'm trying to show him, you know telling you emails I can't I don't have it. Yeah, and I'm like, this is just delay delay when we were hot hot hot It was like this is sucks And then you know all of a sudden you'll get like a like a customer like big cedar, right? Yes, five courses in a resort and they'll order thirty thousand dollars for the scars at a time And you're just like you win that account. You're like, yeah. Oh my god. We do have something gone Yeah, you know, you're like you always question yourself, but they're always subtly reminded and those highs are very sweet super high Yeah, that's super cool. Well, it's just like, you know, we talked about this the other day The reality is is that there's so much that goes into it that when you finally get that win you're like Yeah, that's awesome. Yeah, but then at the same time we kind of also talked about it's like, you know It's it's one hurdle you get over it. You're psyched and then it's like all right on the next or the next one Yeah, there's always one behind and then yeah, eventually there'll be one which we haven't faced yet And maybe it's just cuz we're so stubborn but there'll be one where we just say like Kate We can't do that, you know or something and I think it's fair to walk away from those because sometimes that's a sign Right that this is not a good opportunity or bad idea or bad deal or whatever like we had when we wanted to resell Nicotine pouches, you know, I was like this seems too tough. It shouldn't be that hard. And so then we're like, okay Listen, what are other options instead of going over the hurdle? Maybe we can go around it Yeah, right. Yeah, and it's like, okay that actually worked out a lot better So are you telling me that there's not a vision for greenside tequila? I can't do tequila. I actually I wet the bed when I drink tequila So tequila is not on my that is not on the list No, my wife knows and what's funny enough is my golf partner in men's league is all tequila guy He would slip me like a couple tequila shots late at night when we're at the clubhouse after the round and I'd take One or two and I come home and my wife knew right away She's like, you know, you're peeing on the fireplace again. You had to kill last night Yeah Sorry, I've been banned by three Air Force bars because of tequila There's something in I give them in tequila. Do you like I want to fight everybody? I and I'm a lover man. Like that's so funny fight Yeah I I went through a college phase and that was when I was like I was like a buck 20 soaking wet coming out of senior year high school and then in college I put on like 40 pounds of just muscle Just I had nothing else to do between class Yeah, go work out. Yeah, and so then I got big and I was like I was always getting picked on and then I would get to the bars and I was big I was like I'm gonna pick on you Would give me shit, you know now I'm like, you know And so I do that and then when you you know Settle down you get a job or you get a wife or something else that you care about in life You realize I can't do that stuff. I just gonna walk away Yeah, you know, especially as you're older to you're like, I'm probably gonna get my butt kicked So yeah, I'm just gonna not not do this, you know anymore and tequila is one of the things I cut out But I'll do beer. I'll do you know, my favorite thing, especially with cigars is like a nice aged rum. Oh, yeah yeah, so I like I like rum that comes in like a bourbon like a like a charred bourbon cast sure or You know anything that has like an old whiskey or bourbon in it and then they age the rum in there and then it so It gets brown. Yeah, and it's it's sweet and it has a lot of that that kind of smoky residue and residents from it And it goes just so perfect our log. Yeah That's what I like Used to be my jam heck. Yeah. Yeah when I was a drinker man. Yeah my jam. Yeah. Yeah, so now it's now It's just beer. I just well now we know a little bit about you there. Yeah. Sorry. I told you when I came on It's like I'm an open book guys. That's true to hide. Well, that's that is 100% what yeah I'll just sit here and listen dude. I feel right now in this moment I feel like I'm listening to my grandfather telling me stories about a farm. Yeah You did what yeah, yeah, it's great. Yeah, well and it is like that, you know, and that's what it's all about and Dude, I love it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, totally Do you guys need a quick break? Yeah. Yeah. I just need a refill. Let's do a quick break The good news is he's not gonna have to go pee pee cuz he All right, we're back. We're back. We're back Ty tried to get into some heavy stuff here a second ago and we had to throw the reins on him They said here's the deal man. We had turned the camera back on. Yeah Yeah, one thing we didn't do is we didn't tell the funny story about me texting you the other day He texts me he's like he's like, yeah. Yeah, we're cool for that time Like just just shoot me the address. I don't know how it happened, but I texted him back and just said no Just said no Still like five minutes later. I was like lol. Sorry I meant to say okay Yeah, like the funny thing too is like like wait, so I've been sitting here. We've been going for what an hour Yeah, I've got 51 texts and so oh my lord my phone is and if I included slacks and emails and then oh Messages, it's just it constantly vibrates. Yep. So you said no, but I didn't really get it And and then you had you'd covered your tracks already Yeah, so I went back and I was like, oh, that's kind of funny Like I wish I would have saw that right when he came in I was like and he's not gonna do it again missed a funny moment. We text a lot. Yeah Say no He's like hey remind me the address and I was like no no Crap, I kind of figured like I drop a pin when I get that It's like kids must have had the phone or yeah, the voice button was on you tell your kid No, and then it sent the text Well, and it was funny cuz I noticed it cuz I was changing my my son as I had him on the change Table, so I'm changing his diaper and I grabbed my phone and I'm like damn No Yeah, and I was like, of course, so I started texting back. I was like, oh wow, this is ridiculous. Sorry I'm gonna say okay, and then I was grabbing it. Yeah crap I can't remember the funniest part about that was this is the second time we scheduled this because the first time right? We had an issue. Yeah, and so we pulled back. We're like, oh, we'll redo it and then we're ready to do it again I'm like, okay. I just need that address again. And then you know, maybe we're not doing it again Well, I think we told you this story. It was actually for our other podcast, you know Set it up and yeah, we ended up not having the equipment with us that day and I don't know what happened but that was a whole issue holder thing here, but Yeah, the other podcast was like, oh well, that's not gonna work and you were on your way So you're and you're only a few minutes away. So yeah, I'm only here but like I Was like I was so frustrated. I was like dang it. Yeah. No Yeah, then I got the no on the text message on the address. I'm like, oh, he's telling me again. He's telling me He doesn't want another equipment issue, that's right. Yeah, dang it gotta watch out for those Knicks I know. Yeah, they're crazy man. That's so that was a good good way to start to start the show Yeah, but um, yeah, so so let's let's talk a little bit about you man. You were saying this a minute ago, but This is really really good and it's good to point out to you because you talked a lot about How you've gotten to where you're at the successes around your business the important things about what you find in the day-to-day value All those things all the stuff that kind of combined makes it what it is and where you used to be back in you know 2017 2018 2019 to where you are today Hugely different. Yeah way more successful. You would say very much consider yourself an entrepreneur at this point So you're an entrepreneur, but you're also a father Oh, yeah, you're a husband you are and you're a consultant or an employee of some sort Yeah, and you do lots of things So of all the hats who is who is Ty who's Ty I was just telling Nick this I was a tie is stress Ty is thin. I think we made The first half of this podcast sound too rosy for you guys. Sure. I Will tell you this like I Love I'm very inquisitive like I love to learn things especially with business You know and so like if there's Somebody's teaching me or telling me about a product or a business idea they have I just eat it up I'm right into it. I love it and the the problem I think most entrepreneurs would have is when do I like let go of the lifeline because In America, right? We all have these jobs as long as the jobs pay us to afford the nice houses in the cars and the kids and everything Then we're pretty settled. We're fine with that Yeah, you know and they say like, you know entrepreneurs and only people that work 80 hours a week to not work the 40 Traditional 40 hours a week. Yep. And so I have a hard time because I'm still Employed by my cybersecurity job Yeah, and I'm having a hard time letting that go because that is really what pays for my family Right and everything and so I have to give them their time and make that priority Yeah, I also have this business on the side that's growing exponentially and I got to be able to deliver that and I've got now I've got reps that are kind of dependent on me. I've got courses that depend on me Yeah, and so and then in my role as a cyber security guy I've got four hundred and thirty of their customers worth eight million dollars of their business Yeah, and that numbers dependent on me, right? And then I've got my three kids that depend on me when they get off the school bus daddy Let's go ride the bike daddy. Can we throw the ball daddy if we do this? Well You know we can but I also have to you know I didn't get enough time to do my greenside and my nukes. I got to kind of finish these things up first Yeah, and so it's always this it's this weird headspace I think I stay in more that I need to get myself out of is I need to be at seven different places at once at all times and I think in order to get myself unstressed and like Happy right is just to be like in the moment of where I'm at what I'm doing and not worry about the other Things that I think are going on. Yeah, and especially with the kids Like I'll be quite honest like I anytime I I know I've got 18 things I got to do for the company But if I do the one thing with the kid, I've while I'm doing that with the kids I forget about the 18 things, you know, and everything that can all wait tomorrow What I get done in though if I finished all 18 things would be 18 more right after a hundred percent You know in terms of priority and if I did those 18 things the company's not gonna sell for millions after that tomorrow So like if that's not gonna happen, let's just let's just prioritize our time better And I think the hard thing for me is just being the the good husband Being the good father being the good employee being the good business owner, you know, and all those things at once every day You know, it's like one one second like today I'm on a call with a customer for my cybersecurity job And you know, they're unhappy about whatever on the platform and then right after that, you know I got to go talk to Casey's about nukes. Yeah, and it's like I just got a the hats just are always right Yeah, yeah, and you're always doing this it is stressful it is hard and I don't wish it upon anybody But I think the thing you got to do is I think everybody should have a high side hustle. Oh, yeah yeah, I don't think companies pay you what you're worth and They pay you enough to Make you comfortable sure and I think most of us need to be uncomfortable Whether that's physically or challenged mentally or challenged with business or even, you know, the hardest one is challenged Like with finances artists understand, yeah, cuz that hits us all in the heart Yeah, so I I think that you know You could always start a side hustle and keep your main job And I think everybody should have something even if it's not like your idea You just set up an LLC and sell for somebody else's idea They set up a separate side of income that you can write off and you can use that your that your your w-2 Income doesn't oh, yeah for me. I told you I don't I don't pay myself anything But you know Green Side pays for my green fees for golf and yeah, they pay for my truck and they pay for my gas Yeah, they pay for part of the square footage of our house So we're getting some benefit out of it But it's because we have we have a separate income that's coming in that we can write off, right? And I think that's what most people are more people need and that won't bring you a whole lot of stress unless it Really starts to take off, right? And that's kind of where I'm at now is I feel like this is sort of taking off a little bit and now It's requiring more full attention than I've been giving it sure And so like always, you know, if you ask a guy who's coming up to a fork in his road He's got uncertainty. He's got stress. It's a scary jump It's it is a weird time and then you always say I you know, I can keep going more I can work a little harder. I can keep it going but eventually I think you get to a point you're just like If it's sacrificing my family, you know my time with my kids or my time with my wife your hit Yeah, that's too much. Yeah Yeah, you know, I like that and you know, I have always been an entrepreneur myself, yeah and I Have recently I call it semi retirement. I've downsized sure it could have gone down a very dark road and I had to make the decision to Value the things that were that that are not replaceable. There you go And for me this is gonna this is not your situation So I don't want you to think it's like this easy, right? It's different for everybody This is not a one-size-fits-all and I tell my wife this too. She works a very corporate job If god forbid something happens to you tomorrow the company replaces you oh, right, yeah the home does not Yeah, I will never have you again. Yeah, the boys will never have you again. Yeah, you're not replaceable Yeah, so Approach what I would do my advice to you is kind of approach The different hats you have with that mentality and make them number one at all time. I do this for you Yeah, right. So what can wait until tomorrow? Exactly. I did this for you Yeah to leave a legacy. Yeah, maybe or to make you proud of me. They're already proud of you, bro Yeah, right like yeah, is this for you or for them right and reflect on that more and the jump scary It's a very real problem. Yeah Do I cut off this lifeline to continue on down this path or do I keep the lifeline and give up on that one? Yeah, you don't want to give up on either one I get it man and it's like you're kind of choking one of them either way You're choking you're choking. Yeah, because either the the company that's paying you isn't getting the full you Yeah, and they're gonna let you go. Yeah, because you're not gonna be able to performance or you know You're choking the business in your dream. Yeah, because you're you're too dependent on the the guaranteed income, right? You know So, yeah, I'm gonna go quit my job tomorrow But it is it is much more of like it's not that easy it is it is not easy and it's you know It would be with the funniest part. I look about it. It's like if you were gonna say this Five years ago, like if they found out you had this job and this side hustle and they're like which my company does Know and they all know eventually if I quit it's because I'm gonna do this I'm not going to competitive or anything, right? It's like, you know, they said hey, we're gonna put a fork in the road You can either do that or you can do this, you know, I probably would have caved I probably would have taken the money and just said I'll just stay here and do this and given up on my dream Because this is what my family needs right now Yeah They don't have time for me running around playing games and taking our finances and putting it into something. That's not getting much back But now you know, it's like especially when it was unknown because we only had like 30 or 40 courses You know this could flop we could have yeah, you know another kovat outbreak and then we're sure toast. Yeah Yeah, but this is like this is showing this is already moving and there's so much promise. It's like, you know It should be a lot easier and I think it's hard. I think that's Even though you see the promise and you think it should be easier. It's not even easier Oh, you know, so the guys that that like I've got I've got a couple watching your friends They do their thing full-time. They started it full-time. They didn't have a lifeline with a full-time gig They just went full-time in their selves. I don't know how they did it I mean they they that it is such a tough thing and I think more people need recognition for yeah the guys that go all in on it, right, right and find a way and You know, it's hard because you got a you got to look at yourself in the mirror and be like, okay You know, this doesn't work out. What are we gonna do and then and have that conversation with yourself with your wife You know, yeah kids. Yeah So, yeah, it's me me personally I'm yeah, I'm uh, I'm you know, I love I love golf Obviously, it's a little different when you're in the golf business. Sure quite love it as much as I used to I love to play It I love being outdoors. I think is what I love I love the weather and I love what I'm doing That's what I told a lot of my friends about cigars. Like how'd you get? Why'd you get in the scars? You know, right scars and I was like I love what I'm doing when I'm having a cigar Yeah, having a cigar I'm with my buddies. It means I'm here. Yeah, they're doing this Yeah, I'm talking and I'm actually having a pretty therapeutic session because yeah with your buddies You kind of like this exactly kind of talk things out. Yeah, and it's great time and I say the same same thing about golf I love being a person man. Yeah, yeah, I love being outdoors and doing that stuff But man, it's it's hard. It is hard and you know, it's funny. I'm a huge Brian Shaw fit well There you go Brian Shaw's shirt be great right his big thing is be great, right so He talks a lot about that and I think it's you know He talks about like choosing your hard like make sure that you're doing the right stuff, right? But I funny enough just literally today listened to his podcast about how he got started and he was always the type of person That was so hyper competitive that he said that it was important for him to never take the easy road Because he knew that he knew that if he was up against someone And he took the easy road then he's like I can't guarantee they don't take the hard road and just beat my ass, right? He's like, but you know, I'll go this route and it'd be bad He's like no I want to go this route because now I've done what other people Haven't so I can have what other people don't and like I love that because that's kind of I think that's just that competitor and like, you know very Competitive mindset but at the end of the day to like what you're saying is very difficult Yeah, but you're setting yourself up into a position where like you get to be like at some point in this I mean, I'm of course projecting pretty far But at some point your kids are gonna be like that's my dad being and that's awesome and like not I'm not taking anything away from the average father in general No, no, I'm simply stating like it is super cool for somebody to say like that's my dad Like when my daughter runs up to me and it's like data like that. My whole heart just explodes Yeah, and I remember like when I found out I was having a girl I was like, I don't know Anything about this. I have no idea what's to come and now I've figured that all out and now that I'm a dad It's like everything's changed. Yeah, so all of the hard things have become easier because my selective mentality is around Pursuing I'll call it greatness But like pursuing something that I know other people won't right and that's because I'm not Willing to accept myself as like to not do that extra thing Not do that extra step or whatever and I think going that route Like that's what I've my biggest thing here was like I want my kids to run a family business Yeah, like yeah, you know, I to be honest with you I didn't get much out of my four-year school like other than yeah You know you had a drink and I knew how to do my laundry and for myself and make friends. That was about it Yeah, and I think big stuff. Yeah, like I can live on my own without dying Yeah, even though I But it was it was I was always saying I don't think I'll ever give up on this because I want You know, obviously my daughter's probably I could be big into cigars Sure, you could learn the aspects of a business going through it with your kids and I want that at some point and I'll never give up on that and I'll be honest like I think The real entrepreneurs are the ones that are out that have made the jump I haven't made yet, you know because there because they are they've they've come to that high road and they've bet on themselves Sure, right and I'm still betting on myself because we put a lot of money into this thing, right and It's it's more of those like once you get to that full time and you're in it then, you know I think that's why I think like this thing's kind of taking off and it's growing great But I could imagine if I would have quit, you know three years ago It probably been three three times where it's at now, you know And so I think I'm getting close to a point not only because of my stress levels and my other hats I'm I think are somewhat sacrificed but like also just the fact of just saying okay. Listen, I'm just gonna I'm just gonna bet on myself We're just gonna have to eat ramen for a couple years until we figure it out coming out of it You know, it'll be much better and you'll have a dad who basically plays golf does a little bit of business But plays with the kids more all the time. It takes his wife on dates more, right? He's got more time and he's less stressed and he's more fun to be around. Yeah, you know So that's where I'm trying to get to that's it's not like it's never gonna be about the money Like that's not the big thing. You need the money to live but like right honestly It's it's to give my kids something that they can learn from sure Learning myself like that's paying me a lot. Just the knowledge. I'm getting the connections and relationships I'm making while I'm doing this like that's a huge payment form. Yeah, so Yeah, I'm a I'm a lot of things I Question I love it. No, and that's so real. I mean, that's the thing is like it's it's not This type of stuff is not talked about enough because we could spend I mean we spent almost a whole hour talking about How your business takes place? What kind of things are super important to it? How is it growing like where did it come from? All of that is super important and it's badass and I think that you know, we connected over that That's when I first met you we met a golf course Yeah, cigar night at the golf course and a week I was like, yeah, you know, I work in cyber security He's like funny. So do I I was like, that's great. Well, there you go so like that just kept compounding of course now our friends but like That potentially never would have happened, right? So like just continuing to have those conversations and things that are more real Yeah, like we started to have more conversations about things not necessarily because of again We talked about the fact like if I walk up to you and I shake your hand then I have no idea who you Are it's very likely that your next question is gonna be so what do you do? Yeah, yeah, it's not necessarily like so who are you? Yeah, right. That's my hardest question to ever answer Yeah is what do you do? Yeah, cuz I I I and My wife stumbles it off to you because you have people in the neighborhood. They're like, so what are your husband doing? I'm like, oh, what do we tell him? Yes. Yeah, I what do I do? punch bad guys and I kiss girls Do I want to go down the I run a cigar business or I want to go down to like I'm just a boring Cybersecurity guy, you know, like you just gotta like carry around a pocket projector and it's like well, let's start here Yeah, let me ask you. What do you do? And then I'll tell you what I do This is this about it. Yeah, you want to hug at the start went right over here and yeah, let's do some math Yeah, but it's a lot of things, you know, what's cool is I was I was into video games a lot, too Especially when I had kids because I take the night shift and I'd just stay. Oh, yeah I'm not a big wake up go back to bed wake up. I can't go back to me That's me. So I'll just like hey, I'll make a drink and I'll just stay up till 2 and I'll take that shift For my wife and then put them to bed and do that So I'd play video games and I realized man, I'm wasting a lot of valuable time Sure wake like why don't I do something better? Like, yeah I mean If I would have put how many hours I put in this frickin game to get to this level or whatever And I put that into growing or starting a business I mean I could be so much better off or so much in a different place and learn so much yes, this this reminds me of a interview the CEO of Lamborghini Had with a media outlet. Yeah Why don't you advertise and he goes my buyers don't watch TV. Oh, really? Yeah, it's true I should be honest with you. I like I'll have some people in like dead conversations You see any movies lately I'm like dude bluey is on my hat my TV Yeah, I'm like I don't get to watch anything and you know if I get an hour It's gonna be probably that one on my phone or you know, just talk with my wife Like yeah, if we get any downtime, you know, it's like it's it's weird TVs kind of going away and actually podcasting That's what I love the most. You know, I just wrote down a big seat I listen to two or three of them. I feel like I'm caught up with the world again, you know Well, there's so much to know right like there I think that's what's important about this, right? Like I've said this to Nick before it's like I'm okay being background noise But I'm also more okay with somebody understanding that there are other real people just like them Yeah, and and that they're dealing with things that are very difficult or you're struggling through a lot of things or like you said It's really hard for you sometimes because of some of the supportive aspect of trying to just be there for your wife and your kids And like that's real and how many people are saying that like, you know If we're if I'm listening to a podcast regularly which I do very regularly It's about it's all about like the first portion of what we just talked about and then it's talking about the cool the sunshine The rainbows the cupcakes and fun stuff, right? Like that's cool. And there's a place for that But there is very rarely this aspect this understanding who you are This is what I like best is I'm actually even though the first part of the podcast Probably didn't sound like this, but I'm a lot more modest like I don't take any credit I like yeah, I've done some cool things and there I've got some good stories Yeah, but ultimately every day is more this stuff. Yeah, this is the life of somebody and I would just say like, you know I don't know I challenge challenge people and just say listen if you've only got one one income one job, you know Yeah, it's really important to you. But like five o'clock shut that off Oh, yeah, you know go go be a dad or or a husband Or if you don't have that in your life go build something for yourself learn a different trade a skill set set something up Yeah, and spend that time really valuable But don't give that w2 any more of your eight to five like that there like we just said you're replaceable You know you they let you go that business is gonna carry on and you're gonna back for you in two weeks You know, but your house won't right so I'm a well, that's the thing that that's the thing that's needed, right? like I I Think about it a lot in general and I think that it's one of the things that I kind of had my anxiety about when I first became a dad was Like I I try to do all these things and be all these different things for for my wife and my babies And and I don't know that a will never know until We finally do at the end of the road. Like did I do this? Right? Yeah, did I do it? Right. Did I do enough? Did I do what like I like am I proud of who like my babies are am I proud of who I was as? A husband and like as a partner and all that But like I think a lot about The impacts in general that I'm making and like if there was no longer a me What is the impact that that has and I'm not saying that from like a mental standpoint like I can't handle life I'm saying like in general like I think about that as an aspect right like it's important for me to understand like I Can't run on fumes all the time because at some point it's gonna just shut down and then I'm not valuable at all Yeah, that's true and that's really hard and that's a hard thing to think about I think too because that's like I said where my Anxiety comes from so like mine is always my anxiety is annoying because it's around my heart So like I'll just live like oh my gosh, I can like feel my heart pounding my wife's like You're supposed to have a heartbeat. So like that's cool. Yeah, I was like, yeah, that's a good point I know so, you know, I think about that a lot, but I'm like, you know It's just like that's where my anxiety comes from but I'm like, oh my gosh It feels like my heart's gonna pound out of my chest like I'm freaking gonna die Yeah, she's like you're you're fine. Like it's all good and I was like, yeah, but like then What if something did happen? She's like, what if something did happen? Yeah, she's like that it's just what it is. You can't live like that I was like, yes so like of course that's subsided a lot like that was you know now a couple years ago now, but like I Used to think about how hard would it be on other people? For me to to not be able to do the things I do and I think I gained a little bit of that From when you know, we've talked about this. I'm not 100% sure we talked about this one of my best friends passed away about ten years ago And and that was like when it all kind of clicks like when things Turned over a little bit more and that's when I started to kind of think about like yeah Well, I really I need to be there for people and I need to understand Yeah, I need to understand what people need from me Well, I think to like going back to the kids thing you'll never be enough you could always you'd always do more And I think as soon as you put that goggles on you're kind of like, okay I'll give as much as I can. Yeah, and I have to settle with that being fine We talked about and that's okay. We talked about the birth and stuff like you're just out of control, you know And I'm gonna control what I can give and that'll be and that's fine, too And I would say too like I know I was saying, you know five o'clock shut it down go build something do something But also go spend time with your friends Like just yeah, that is so therapeutic and talk about getting rid of anxiety like just connect with people and learn there Because sometimes you're gonna run into a buddy and you thought you had a bad day Yeah, and his day Yeah, and now it puts in perspective my day wasn't that bad. I now I'm here for him I hear it every day. Yeah, I hear it every day. I people that could be happier than me that day Yeah people I'm happier than that. Yeah. Yeah, I hear it all the time, you know and going back to a point on You could always give more like just give 100% 100% different every day Yeah, and that's why you and I've talked about this a lot I always hated it when coaches would come up to me and say 110% right no such thing Yeah, yeah I have a hundred percent and my hundred percent today is gonna look a lot different than tomorrow right in the next day in The next day as long as you can go to bed knowing Okay, I'm okay. I gave that day everything. Yeah, and and very much so part of the recovery and me in the AA program is Am I okay? This is another step, but I do this I live this way at the end of each day Am I okay with my family watching the video camera that followed me around today? Yeah, that's a good one. Yeah, and and my answer every single day for years has been they're not gonna like my language That's my hang up. Yeah, I like my language that was everywhere. I said I was gonna be yeah I did my job. I took care of my people. Yeah, I Gave it my all. Yeah, okay. Yeah, I'm okay Yeah, and then and then the nice thing is we're blessed enough that there's always tomorrow. There's all usually Yeah, yeah, but we're blessed enough that there is a tomorrow Yeah, you know and then tomorrow I get to wake up and I get another chance either improve or do 100% or or let some of the tribulations from yesterday spill over and then yeah, take me down No, I haven't and sorry exactly move forward exactly. Yeah, it's a good mindset for sure So yeah, I'm gonna ask you a harder question. Okay, let's do it And it's I'm just gonna preface it with this is this hangs people up sometimes, okay You have to describe yourself to somebody in three words, what are those three words? Definitely hard working as one. Mm-hmm care I I would say caring, but I think my wife would be like you don't have a caring bone in your body You know like but I do care. I don't I'm not I'm not very emotional. I don't I don't show that I care But I do deeply care about my friends and my family. Yeah, and I want to see everybody succeed You know, so it's like I do have a care and interest there Man the third one is like dude. I'm just I try to be a fun guy. Like I just try and I Try and always be fun have a smile or give a smile to somebody else make them smile You know, so that's I mean, that's kind of my outlook on life I'm out of control, you know, it's just I'm we're all flying through this big space rock. That's Any day it could just be gone, right? So it's like, you know that you look back in that Carl Sagan where he's like the tiny blue planet Oh, yeah problems from Davis like this. I look at it like that. I'm just like, yeah, you know What are we doing here, man? If we're not having fun and we're not like, you know enjoying the time we have on this earth then something's wrong Yes, so that's that's my outlook on everything. That's an awesome way to be man And I and I think that that does encompass you a lot and we we've been friends for not that long but like long enough to know you and well enough to like Understand about a handful of things pretty well And I think that you and I have a lot of similar things that we've done in the past and how we were kind Of approach things in life, which is very similar to Nick too. Yeah I'm a big I'm a big put put and you guys probably like this too But I put more emphasis on memories and experiences bingo anything else, right? I try when I'm feeling I'm in a memory or experience. I just try and take it all Taking the picture with your eyes And that's what I think worse that when I got older is like I don't take a lot of photos like I do the kids But sure my wife will take a lot of them But like man when we go on like vacation, yeah, I hardly take anything cuz I just want to be on vacay That's me. Yeah, and it's not it's not a selfish thing Yeah, if I I didn't mean to cut you off there But for me, it's more of a I just want to see it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, I just I think that's a good way to live I mean cuz I think when we get but it's all said and done We're on that deathbed and we know it tomorrow's not here for us Yeah, I think what goes through is the the brain the memory of the life we lived And what we did and what we contributed, you know, did we have a good time? And I think that's how I look at every day. Can we have fun? You know and then also, you know, it's important we got to get things done But at the same time can we have fun doing them? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah and putting in I like that Well, and this kind of sounds bad. I don't mean it too. It's kind of funny though, like You know if you if they if your time comes right and you're flashing back having all those memories and like you're you're sitting there I don't think anybody's ever been like hold on Can you hand me my phone so I can look at my pictures? Yeah That doesn't happen right Like the picture is only worth as much as I would put it on my wall. Yeah, I go back it's not likely the You seen the Cuz I'm doing the kids movie things, but what's the one with they have the motions in the brain like You know those core memory balls, oh yeah that hit home for me I was like man I need more Yeah, I'm missing it I gotta lock in you know, yeah, I I look whatever said and and as I'm watching this movie I'm trying to like follow it but I can't cuz I was stuck on those core man balls, too Yeah, and I was good like man. I used to be the red one. Yeah Yeah, I'm so glad dad shifted over to like this goofy one. Yeah Yeah, these core memories are so much better now for right everybody around me exactly cuz cuz they're also getting the same Yeah, yeah, they're getting that benefit from it and it's it's cool. Yeah, I think about it on that deep level I love that movie great visual great movie. Yeah, I love the movie Yeah, and it really gives you that visual and inside that kid's brain, right? Yeah. Yes, you have anger you have sadness you've been depression you have the anxiety And then it makes you a better father cuz if you're seeing that yeah, you know, the kids got the same It's like how do I get more core memories than you? Yeah Let's go. Let's go to dinner daughter. Yeah, but we haven't had a date in a while Yeah, just you and I go and it stings my wife every time she's like you take her on more dates You take me I'm like, but she she needs it You're also like damn right because no dusty boys gonna come in here and tell her yeah, this is great We're gonna make these I already got you. Yeah. Yeah, I'm like, yeah, I'll do the bare minimum Keep you around but I got to get this girl Landed the plane here. Yeah, or like with my boy like let's get outside. Let's play baseball. I know I love this dude Yes, we've got core memories coming up here in a couple weeks we're going to spring training first Yeah, nice. Yeah, I'm so stuff If you're a gambling person bet the over because I've watched the three spring training Royals games And oh, yeah over by five runs every time But I love sports betting I love the gamble that's that's a that's one I bet if you're going down that's awesome Dude, very cool. Yeah, very very cool. Thanks for having me a hundred percent Thanks for coming to hang out with us. We love every moment of this. I did too I was I was telling you at the the when we went grab beers. I said I need this This is therapeutic for me to just talk some of my feelings emotions and thoughts out because in my household I got to be the listener because everybody else talks. Yeah. Yeah, and they all talk to me at the same time Yeah, and so nobody wants to hear what daddy says this but this is nice Thank you for saying that because it's exactly what we have talked about Wanting to do is a therapy session for you to just yeah, and we want you to flex man. Yeah, you're cool You guys should have charged a mission I didn't know I didn't pay ya. Yeah, so We do have we do have one more short thing for you, let's do it. This is our lightning round and You were warning me about this. I have warned you about this I couldn't prepare because there was like left field. It's fully left field and and it is It is the most hot seat portion of the evening. All right, let's do it Yeah, so there's a couple here that that I think will be great. And then there's a couple that I think will be Will be very interesting. You may have to put me on the shot clock. I love this Yeah, that that is okay. That is okay. Where in the hell did the other one go? I know I have the other one right here All right So These are awesome Come on come on There we go. All right. What is I'm nervous. What is something you wish everyone knew about you? mmm, oh I would say like I go back to who I was like that I do care like I care about everybody. Yeah care about yeah, I don't know, you know I care about Americans. I care about the world. Yeah, I want peace. I want happiness for everybody Yeah, I feel like if we're all happy. We're all doing a good time We need to go back to like the 80s and 90s where everybody was just winning, you know Yeah, and that's that's truly what I I think I would like for people to know because I don't show it very well Sure. Yeah, love it. Love it What is something that you consider to be very difficult? Oh Man, I think husband with kids is the most difficult. That's a tough game for sure Yeah husband no kids Kind of a piece of cake husband kids tough. Yep, I get that I get that for sure What's something you're most secure insecure about? Oh my chicken legs Well, we cut them off Leg days just I can't get enough protein down below the belt do some calf raises I tell you guys I can I can bench more than I can squat And that's what I'm proud about that's something I'm proud about. Okay, what is Well, actually that's untrue do you respond better to positive or negative reinforcement Oh, I think everybody's gonna say positive, right? Sure fair I definitely go better positive, but I do like I think I'm a little like I try and bury I don't take compliments very well because I try to be more Thanks, let's move on to something else. Yeah, but I hate I hate negativity is Is something I don't deal well with if I have somebody in my world That's always we say something positive and somebody comes out with something negative like man I gotta check you like let's get yeah your head's not all right And if it comes at me and I'm even worse with it, you know true true then the negative though It makes me laugh doesn't like I laugh at it. Yeah, I love it. See I think both ways Yeah, I could see both I think I listen too much and I'd probably try and argue the negative and so like unless it was blatantly wrong I'd probably laugh. But yeah, give me positive. Yeah. Yeah, I agree. I positive I mean, I don't know anybody that's like really dislikes positive. So I respect that. Yeah All right a little more ridiculous now, okay You're gonna be in the Olympics. What would you compete in? Oh, I've always played basketball, but I'm definitely not built for that I do golf. Okay, I want play golf. Great. That's a nice new Olympic sport. Yeah. Yeah, put me in golf Okay, if there was a movie written about your life, what would it be called and who would play you oh boy What would it be called man, I don't know I'd have to go something generic like a day in the life something simple like that And who would play me Shoot I like Bradley Cooper. I'd like to see Bradley. All right. Yeah. All right. I can get down with that I can see it. Yeah, I can see it. I get down with that He's a good actor and he can play a lot of roles so he can play me in my dark and my bright He could definitely he definitely encapsulate the tie. Yeah, that's right. I love it. Yeah He really understands a whole host of emotion here. Yeah. Yeah, he's really channeled it. Yeah. All right. I love it I love it. All right. Here's a great one if You had a theme song for your life that played every time you entered a room. What would it be? Oh man, I Love Morgan Wallen right now. Okay, he's on all of my playlists. Sure. Sure I'd probably go with a Morgan Wallen song Like it'd be my walk-in song for baseball sure it'd be my walk into the room or arena if I was a stand-up comic So I'd probably pick one of his songs popular right now. All right, I get down with it Yeah, all right If aliens visited earth you were the first person that they contacted love to be that person. How would you explain our existence? Just shoddy luck like I Don't know to be to be around them. We haven't nuked ourselves into oblivion yet. I Would believe they'll nuke soon. Yeah Yeah our existence man, I don't know it's dude I love like Considering and contemplating life when we have oh, yeah, we have cigars on the back deck a lot Yep, aliens always come up, of course, and it's always like because they're real. Yeah, what you mean? I think so Yeah, I mean, you know if you said that ten years ago, you'd be a kook. Oh, yeah Yeah, it's kind of like yeah, it's like well actually how do you explain some of this stuff? So yeah, man I'm hoping for the day. I think we hang around long enough. I think there'll be some contact There's something that we could you know learn from but I'd love to be that first guy I would be the wrong guy to tell you why we're still here I'd tell you I'd say I'd tell the alien asked me another question Give me my I don't know. I mean my metal hat. Yeah, I guess we all want to live baby That's right. Yeah, I mean to ask answer that no. Yeah. Yeah. No. Yeah, that's it. That's a tough one That's a tough one. Yeah, what is your best pick up line? Oh, they're they're all you gotta really you really got to dig Deep into the end of the well at these. Yeah So the way the way I got my wife it wasn't really a line, but it was my dance moves So I was a big dancer My pick up line would be going out and just finding a good live band Yeah, just being the first guy on the dance floor But yeah, there needs to be some context here Are we talking like Saturday night fever like you're out doing some John Travolta hip thrust action? No, are we talking more like on the lines of like world dance where you're like pop and lock it like that No, not that it's not cool. It doesn't look cool But it's I I don't know. I just I like I'm a big rhythm guy Yeah, like I love Like I'll nod and I'll bounce to it. Oh, yeah, and if I get that little rhythm I like to go out look shake it man, and I think that's what led me to find my match So I love it didn't take talking even though I like talking I guess so my pick up line would be like Get them to a dance floor get to the dance. I like that break it out. Yeah, and with The final question, all right passed You have half past this is worth 50% of your grade, okay What is your favorite mythological creature and what sound does it make man? You got to go with a dragon, okay Man the like train like another kid video because that's all of course How to teach dragon to fly or train your dragon train dragon? Yeah, that'd be the coolest Like that you could kind of oh, yeah You know, I'd like if the if the mouth open and the fire came out it sound a little bit more like a gun like a Pew pew Yeah, these little fireballs like yeah It would be hilarious if like if a dragon just had like a person voice was like bang. Yeah Yeah Just super chill. Yeah, it's like the anti dragons voice. Yeah, I love that Yeah, dragons for sure though. They're cool. Heck. Yeah, man. I love it. Yeah.
