Welcome back to another episode We're back of unspoken with Nick and Nick. My name is first on the on the header Dude, why? Why is your name have to be first? I don't know. It's just the way it's spelled We totally should have done like a Talladega nights thing like well if if you're first is that Spanish for like fighting chicken? That's so cool, that's pretty cool. That's pretty cool. So today our next guest Noel We're stoked say hello Noel Thanks for joining us for another episode of unspoken with Nick Nick, we'll see you on the next one No interrogation no waterboarding you didn't even get through your Prosecco New challenge new challenge which okay do we got to start with that story though Nick Cuz you told us that a second ago, and it's a pretty funny story Yeah, when I went to get it so I went to the liquor store and anybody that knows me listening knows that I'm sober So going into a liquor store is like it's actually comical for me now at this point in sobriety to Walk into a liquor store like for my wife or for a friend or something But this particular liquor store was bumping today like there was a lot of vendors there They had a barbecue pit going Smoke sandwiches you had whiskey and bourbon and wine well I walk in and this guy with bourbon Which was my drink of choice back in the day Goes hey, do you want to you want to try this new bourbon coming out? No, man. I'm sober and I just kept walking and I know the man had to be super uber confused He's he's pulling my leg right like he's not sober. Why is he in here? Nah Clearly I'm buying Prosecco if the guy that checked me out he goes is that it boss This is it Do you have any recommendations That is like classically awesome because it's so you can't you can't know No, it had it had to catch him off guard. Yeah, that's why that's obviously why or you know I wouldn't be rude to the guy. I mean he has sure walking into a liquor store. Yeah, you know he's gonna assume He's gonna assume. Yeah. No, man. I'm here. I'm here for that Prosecco. That's what I'm here Keeping it gangsta, that's right. Yeah, that's right, you know light taste. Yeah. Yeah a little hypnotic It's been a while take you back, yeah New Year's Eve 2004 I Think I had like three or four bottles of that stuff of hypnotic and I was in Taiwan Yeah, New Year's Eve was in Taipei, Taiwan, and I'm just like Did your stomach explode? Yeah, man. It didn't feel good. I Was can not imagine that you have it was bad. That was the drink man and be excited about it Yeah, I felt so cool coming in with four bottles of that stuff. Everybody didn't think it was pretty cool I mean, I mean it was pretty bad. Yeah, Dre's bumping in the club Was it at least like New Year's or something? It was New Year's Eve. Yeah. Yeah, did you say that? Yeah I just missed it. Yeah, you're right. I mumble a lot when I talk. Yeah, you do. I do please speak. I need to open my mouth I just had some peanut butter That's some peanut butter I always wonder what like a dog sounds like if they were to talk with peanut butter stuck to the roof of their mouth That'd be awesome. Yeah dog to talk Yeah, I mean that would be rad by itself. Like I would just love like I would love to hear Winston's voice Just peanut butter. He's so refined. He's got that refined like Yeah, oh he only eats organic like he's so proper. Yeah Yeah, exactly shaken, please mr. Brown not stirred Yeah, he'd be refined that yeah that checks out. I feel like Winston is definitely the double-oh-seven of dogs Double okay nine Double-oh-seven of dogs. I do like that too. It's funny to the knee. I did want to name him Ranger or recon Yeah, and now that I know my dog. I'm like Definitely Winston definitely Winston he goes in or draws himself a nice hot bath and breaks out the dictionary Yeah, that's perfect hey Nick, did you sell that stock? Yeah any chance you saw the S&P today It's just fancy Yeah, definitely now we need to get him like a dog tuxedo collar or like a t-shirt Totally cuz you know it says he's fancy, but he wants to party too. I've actually brought so speaking of that I've actually brought that up to Katie a couple times. I'd like to see him get a mullet cut. That'd be beautiful I think Winston would look sweet with a mullet. He would yeah With any haircut. He's a handsome dog, man. He's a cool dog. He'll make an appearance here soon. I'm sure Getting into no I'll hear a little bit now that we've spouted off that Bunch of crap easy easy at least at least that was for you Apparently Nick's going rogue Let's start covering the topic of our next guest no Noel we've worked together for a few years now She's great. She's a great girl. No you are and you know, we're like we're like brother-sister totally We I think we've combined forces in that bungalow and become quite One hell of a team. I mean we've got each other's back. No, I was always got your back No, well you are like this fresh burst of energy that comes into that house That I think we all need I know you've told me repeatedly like I'm that masculine energy that the house needs but you have that touch of Feminine you have the secret masculine butt-kicker in there, too, and All of your life experiences the way it shaped you. I couldn't be more proud to know you Love love love working with you and everybody listening. I think you're going to enjoy her story very insightful Incredible ability to read a room that she walks into The energy she's all about that energy. In fact, I remember our first time we met I'm I'm gonna throw Randy under the bus here real quick. Oh Randy you remember Randy, right Randy? So Randy Calls me and He says hey Nick This hot girl stopped in and she like wanted to know if she could rent a room. I go Okay, what's her name? I forgot Classic Randy. Hey, do you have a phone number? No So you just stared at her? Yes Like, okay. Well, hopefully she stops by again and then she did I think it was like two or three days later She stopped by but she lived in the neighborhood and I'm like, oh dude. This is perfect Okay, so she stops in and I'm giving her to her the whole house Where I'm cutting hair upstairs the basement and she stands in the basement and she looks around and she looks at me She goes I'm getting a good energy off you I'm like some vibes bro. Hey, thank you. I'm glad you know, like I put the good clothes on today Good. I'm glad we got I've got a good energy pouring out of me But no, I like to think that I normally do have a good energy You were just like sorry three days ago. Yeah, it's just three days ago You would have sent me to the psych ward No, but it you said that I remember you saying that specifically and I remember exactly where we were standing Right where Tiffany cuts hair and You just asked me questions about the house like we talked about the history of the house We talked about kind of my vision with the house and then what your vision was and I remember Saying or at least thinking Like yeah, it's yours Not even thinking about like what does this look like just it's all you go ahead I don't care do what you want to do and then everybody you brought in with you turned out to be fantastic and We all had this great relationship moving forward and I Like what you've got going on and I like the story that you have to bring today So I appreciate you being here. It's gonna be fun. Yeah heck. Yeah. Yeah cool to hear more So tell us a little bit about What you do who you are just fire away where you feel most comfortable starting Okay Feels like a lot. It's like a really loaded question that it's true and that I think is probably the best way to put it because I Just want you to feel whatever is right to tell us, you know, like whatever whatever feels most right. I'm cool with Yeah, I have Two boys One in seven and I own a metaphysical nail salon So a lot of people ask what that means because it's not just a nail salon. It is I do terror readings and mediumship. I'm a psychic medium So I offer that we do nails and I like to just say that we're not just a nail salon. We have We want to hold a safe space We have We want to hold a safe space. We want it to be a break from life We want it to be if you want to come and not talk you don't have to talk Yeah, but if you want to come and you know, just release let go talk about whatever you need to talk about where that safe space We're a destination. Yeah, just like stop in and like just absolutely blast the new sleep token album Yes, I've been listening to that too. Yes Listening to and you pulled up that is exactly what I was listening to and I pulled out to ask you I can't not listen To it right now. I feel like I'm definitely there's like a meme not a meme. There's a video going around where this guy He's he's a guy that came up with the whole term like poly jammer is And it's hilarious because he's like, you never know what I'm listening to in my car That is a hundred percent me but then he made a video and he's like you can find me doing this until May 9th And it's just like he's sitting there And then like the heavy part goes on he's just going crazy then like this like sexy sacks comes on in the back and he's like Yep, loving it. I'm like It's like oh my gosh. I was like I feel this guy right now. That's awesome. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, so I can I can't come and just absolutely Okay, great. Now I'm on I'm hoping this happens every three weeks. Okay Yes, I'll let you know That is literally what is because if that were to happen it wouldn't be weird. No, that's awesome. I agree with her. Yeah Yeah, that's awesome It's gonna be so hard for me not to like interject when you're talking cuz I get all these same vibes, right? Cuz we work in the same place together and we have for years now and it's like I'll just let you talk but I do I love it I do I may own like the nail salon But it's actually such a small portion of the whole bungalow like we have we're all over. Yeah, we have a barber downstairs your barbershop The tattoo artist upstairs who now has another addition. That's awesome is there And then yeah, at least who does hair. So yeah, we have a whole I mean, I didn't even know that I didn't even know there was a tattoo artist. Oh, did I not tell you? I don't know dude, you don't tell me that friend never tells me stuff. I do love you though You know, I love you too. Okay, I guess that's why you keep secrets The trigger yeah, yeah, well guess what your name's first, that's true. Sorry just happen that way Actually she roast both of us bro, I feel that's the case jujitsu mama over here. Yeah Yeah, you need to flex away now flex away keep going keep going really bad at it You're pretty cool really bad at jujitsu. So I do it. Here's what's so funny is all the time Like you're so badass that you do jujitsu. And then if you were to see me in class Just getting my ass kicked over and over and over. That's what it's about. Yeah impressive at all. That's what it's about. Yeah It's just I mean, I think that that's one of those things too. It's like It's almost kind of like I kind of go with a bunch of different examples But like I kind of go with like working out right like you do it more you just become better at it and more Like physically sound it's the same thing with I would say any kind of like Yes, jujitsu would be considered like a form of martial arts. It is. Okay, I don't know how to categorize it but um, I would I would assume it's probably the same because those are they're considered more disciplines than Anything I would say so it's tough to like It's more about wrapping your mind around which I assume would help in your case because you're very like mind-centered focused on things So it's probably a little bit easier to kind of hone in and do that. I don't know. I'm just kind of spitballing That's more what I love about it is so I was reading this book and they kind of say it's more you're either like this Athlete. Yeah, really good at jujitsu. Yeah, or you're like a philosopher Hey, yeah Yeah, you may not be great But like you have you know a good mindset you really you can because it is kind of like chess You know, they call it like chess and you kind of see it more that way I think you're like the philosopher mindset and I like to meditate but I love in jujitsu, you know I'm trying to choke you out someone's on top of you right not thinking about You know what I did or didn't do that day or how stressful my day was I have to think about not dying Yes Exactly. Yeah in the moment. Yeah And that's really what I love about it. And yeah, obviously there's so many other things you gain from it But that is um, you know, that is why it's almost like addictive of just needing to keep going for my mindset Yeah, that's awesome. Yeah. No, it is I agree where you know doing the mixed martial arts when I was in the Marine Corps was the same way Yeah, they're training you to do better job hand-to-hand but ultimately to keep your mind sharp It's it's a thinking two three steps ahead the chess match. Yes, so it's physical and mental But if I had to say for me personally, it was more mental Trying to stay those steps ahead. Yeah Almost counteracting a move before it happens trying to see it coming. Yeah knowing that yeah Yeah, and if you don't know your opponent You've got to pick up on some of their Attributes right like what what they're coming at you with and it's a it's a dance It's everything so it doesn't look like just assuming that they're gonna attack you and start running in the opposite direction around the ring It's not it's not that is it it's different than that No, I think is that what you do? That's it's well Is way less than yes, probably I did that The first time I got in a ring is a joke in front of all the Marines I started running around the ring I was like not me not me not mean I started yelling for mom. Yeah, I mean really though. It's crazy Like I can't it's not I'm that's outside of my bounds like more than anything I just want to be like a dad that can take care of his family But like eventually you'd run across like a crazy badass and I'm like This might not be your own but stop think about your mental space where you had to be when you were playing Well, yeah, but that's it I mean, that's a different capacity because it's very much very much mental though Yeah, but I think I think anticipating a move versus anticipating a strategy is different too So like oh my anticipation was of strategy I've only competed once so I'm not like this Didn't you get like I don't know like second place. Yeah People there were two other people count Your face in that picture We need to post her picture. Yeah, her face is hilarious. She's like this But that had a lot to do strategy because it was there was So I did the whole match and at the very end they so before they announced, you know Who the winner is they they paused and the people who were? Reviewing the matches paused our match and there was something that they had missed Because some okay technologically went wrong and they had to go back and rewatch it got it Well, what had happened was she got an advantage so but had I had known that mid match I would have had a different strategy at that. Sure You are I'm being coached and I'm there they're watching the points for me and telling me Yeah, what I should have shouldn't do Yeah, you know because there's so it is strategy in the sense of had I known that she had that advantage So that's what helped we were tied essentially that sure So that's what how she won was just you that one advantage point that I didn't even know about until the very end Because they had to review the match. So, you know, it was really frustrating and I was really I was really upset about it But it is very strategy so when I'm training I'm not training all these different ways to like take down or pull guard I have like my one to two things that I'm gonna do sure sure and then that's it That's all so so as far as strategy goes, I would say it's similar in that sense. Yeah, that's probably true, too I mean because you come in with a game plan no matter what and I would say that there's any competitive Any version of competition? I would say you come in with a game plan Here's how I'm going to execute today, which is again like we've talked about before like when reporters ask stupid questions Yeah, what are you gonna do? Like are you gonna come back from that? You just lost the Super Bowl. How do you feel? Well, I am NOT going to Disneyland and you're a pain in my ass. Yeah Exactly, right feel less than I did earlier But like I think the reality is is that you know Like are because I had like a different strategy in the way that I would have to plan for like Individual versus individual but really individual versus nine other people and then you know, you know you have the the the I'm gonna call it opportunity to be like one-on-one But it's really just like that can change quickly because like if I am one of nine I can't change the strategy of nine like that right like that's a little bit different So you have you have to be like really in tune with what the other person's doing Which is where that can get I think pretty challenging but like for you I don't know. Maybe you just jump in their brain the medium thing. You're like Yeah, no long story short, I'm really bad at jujitsu and it's really hard well now we know She says that but I still wouldn't test her. I'm still out because no no things you know what it's funny because I've Never seen you mad or upset I thank God I'm not the one who's done it if you have been upset in that house, but I Wouldn't step up Yeah, but isn't it the opposite right? Like well, are you not talking about like that? Hold on. Let me get really technical You're not talking about BJJ. Are you? Oh My god, that was last episode wasn't it we're talking about that. Oh, maybe we were off-air talking about we might have been talking That's so funny. This is so funny. Did what did he tell you the story? Yeah, okay This is great, it's so dumb Okay, so I I have a couple of buddies that were really into it and I didn't like I kind of knew at the time but I didn't so we're all texted and we have this big group chat and Somebody said something about About having something to do the next day So we weren't gonna be able to do what we were planning and then another guy was like, oh, yeah You know, I got you know BJJ at 10 or whatever and I was like time time And I was like what in the hell does that mean like what is BJJ? So the one dude jumps in and he just says that just puts in their Brazilian jiu-jitsu and then that like the conversation stopped for like 10 minutes and I came back and I picked up my phone and I was like There was no way I was going to get that so I I Think what I ended up saying was like, you know that part on that movie interstellar where they talk about they go through Wormhole and then they talk about the like one in quadrillion chance that they come back through the wormhole Successfully, I was like, I think my chances of guessing Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Yeah, we're less than them getting back through the wormhole That's what I think it was and that's where it became a problem because that yeah, I wasn't gonna know that And you know, I'm a better man for it. I am I probably would have been like watch your mouth Don't have a like I would have not known I was not familiar with it. So it was like Great like yeah, like oh good for you. That's cool. So now Now that I know Super savvy. Well, it was funny at the bungalow that why that story came up. I think it was Tiffany brought up Oh BJJ and I'm like, oh my gosh speaking of that. I got a funny story about this Yeah, yeah, it was so funny. Okay I'm gonna turn us a little bit. I want to go into a little bit of history here because Noel hasn't said it yet, but you used to be a Yes Cop okay now we're getting into it now. We're getting now we're getting yeah I wasn't What I find fascinating is I I only know you now, I know you as an entrepreneur a mom and a cop It's so like that's what I'm not shocked. It doesn't shock me But what it does I'm like all of it kind of makes sense in my mind now But if what was life like as a cop yeah Well, let's start with this because it'll give a bit of context yeah, go was okay, so this was I mean I was 25 to 27 like I was for two years. I was a cop for two years But it was all I ever wanted to do I was okay born Yeah to do this. Okay My dad told me like when I was really little I don't remember this story He told me that they came on the news and there's this girl missing and I was like dad if they just like let Me help I can find her Yeah, and my dad was in law enforcement. He was a corrections officer and then became a deputy So I grew up with a lifestyle And it is a lifestyle. It's yeah, it's a job a career, but it's also a lifestyle and That was all I ever wanted to do So I think I think I was 25 when I started and it was I was it seems like a whole other lifetime. I was the other person I I don't I've become less and less familiar with her as I get older, but Yeah, it was it was a wild time. I was young and I was married and then I got a divorce Yeah, well, it's like any cop does I think It's a lot like the military. Yeah, there's a lot of divorce in the military law enforcement There's a lot of hours and a lot of parallels a lot of parallels. Yeah and bringing work home Okay, it can hurt and it's it. Yeah, I'm not gonna take too much away from you. But yeah, it's What's fascinating to me is to see? You're bringing up growth. You don't remember that you're all you that was so such a long time ago. Yeah, I I I'm sure I would have liked you then just as much as I like you now But you then too cuz we would have just we would have been bashing heads together. What would Randy have thought he'd been like Can I be in the back? I'll be drunk and disorderly she can arrest me Classic Randy I love that guy. I'm gonna have to totally let him know that he's Unbeknownst to him he's on this episode. That's right. Randy wisdom. Our still coming. It's coming. Oh, man I miss his wisdom hours. Yeah, he's so wonderful, but Yeah, the the growth so If I can press you a little bit In in what way I think I can answer this for you, but I want you to answer it in what ways What kind of growth are we looking at in the the spiritual aspect? Are we looking at in? Like the home life like what what kind of growth overall? Yes all of the above. Yeah At that time I don't think my spirituality for what it is now was not the same then and Yeah, I loved I loved being a police officer if I could be who I am now and go back and do the same thing I would But I was really young very immature. I drank a lot Partied, you know when I wasn't working I was partying And you know spending a lot of time with friends unhappier than I Realized that I was So so just very very immature and going into this You know the good old boys club and Thinking that I can change everything Yeah, you know that I am when you're young you do you you want to challenge everything and you want to change everything Yeah, I could I'm like, okay I see where all the problems are and I want to make it all better not just like within You know law enforcement but with the world and I'm gonna save the world, right? And so and but but at the same time I'm extremely mature and so, you know, there was so much for me happening then and obviously in a very toxic relationship that obviously didn't work out so Yeah, I was in an awful headspace avoiding all of my you know, previous trauma putting it into work putting it into work Yeah, currently experiencing trauma within my marriage. Yeah putting it into work and then being with somebody who said yeah I can accept this lifestyle, but really It's easier said than when you experience it. So yeah. Yeah, I'm not at birthdays. I'm not at Easter I'm not yeah these things and So, yeah, it's easier to be like yes, that's totally fine But then when it comes to the to the moments of having to be there for family, sometimes it's not always the case. So Yep. Yeah, I was yeah, you know And that's rough, you know with the sacrifices you're talking about. It's you're you are sacrificing those holidays and in the birthdays and The anniversaries and the kid functions and whatever else is on your plate and all for the name of keeping us safe right, I mean it's it's I relate with that 100% being where I've been and Going through it I think it's easier for us going through it than it is the others at home We know where we're at. We know what we're doing. They're wondering But it's still a toll it does take a toll as years of your life Yeah, so what got me out of it is is you know, I I met my I get my now ex and I met him and I was kind of ready I was starting to see how this lifestyle was affecting my relationships and once I decided to leave I Was really I really wanted to go federal that was my whole goal Anyway, I knew I wasn't gonna be I didn't know that I didn't know that I really wanted to focus on human trafficking and Sexual exploitation. Yes, and that was not gonna happen at the department So I knew I wanted to go federal anyway, I just needed that, you know, I just needed time on the streets. So But my family and my loved ones really started to tell me how being in law enforcement made them feel and that's really hard to hear My mom she lived in the same city that I worked and she'd be like why I'd hear sirens at night And then I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep So And then, you know during that time I was I was partying and I just really wanted some more free time So I was like, well, I'm gonna do nails for a little while anyway And I was in communication with the FBI trying to see if I can get it, you know apply there and what that would look like and I was just like, you know what? I actually really like doing nails and you know, this is this is nice and and I couldn't imagine going back to that Lifestyle knowing how hard it was on my previous partner and sure. Yeah. Yeah, it is true and night I obviously have a very different Side of it then both you guys have because I was I was in dispatch So I spent some time there and I I see a lot of like what you guys did Of course, but like outside of that and then obviously military is a very different game But it does it makes it makes a lot of sense Like you I totally understand where you're coming from with like you don't have time and I think I don't know So like what was your schedule like I worked I loved evenings and meds. So I would do two months usually evenings, so that would be like Was it probably like four tens though you guys were doing we did five eights, okay and And that was hard because you would do overtime. So you'd be like 16 hours in oh, well, I was I yeah But we were we were six eights. Oh So we were a roll schedule a six eight two Wow Yeah, see but this dispatch is no joke either man Well, but it was bad so it was backwards like I said, you know, it's it was a six eight But then you had mandatory overtime no matter what but there was only seven of us for Whatever the size of the city is So and then so it actually was separated, right? So we had we had call taking side and we had dispatching side Which that could kind of fluctuate depending on if you were trained to be a dispatcher Yeah, sure That's I mean your talk you're speaking right directly with officers at that point Not that you wouldn't be in what we were doing, but I think just reality is is that it was different But yeah, I mean that's that is true. Like it was it was longer, but I think that was Where there was potentially more room for error due to just strain and exhaustion. Yeah, but like it's not physical, right? It's just like a mental So tiring being on the phone all day long and like you're you're constantly turned on like you're listening and it's a lot of detail orientation Yeah, so you're trying to figure that out And then of course that that then goes to what you all were doing out on the streets too Because I can't be wrong because if I tell you the wrong thing, right problem, right? So it was I mean it was very important for you all and again I'm I'm not in the middle of it So I can't I can't say like what that was like other than the ride-alongs I did right But like you all were doing the real work what I would call the real work Whereas we were honing in on making sure that that work was successful Dispatcher who I mean she was just this alpha female sure and So she did not like any other Join in and for some reason she didn't like me just a Fur I have no clue why yeah, and that was a huge problem for me it really it would be like it'd be one of those things too or it's like if it's getting to the end of your shift and Really like not an urgent call comes out sure and then she'll throw me on it, you know Just because yeah, it holds me over a little bit longer things like that happen. Yeah, so it's like yeah We're so dependent on you, but we're also at your mercy And it was just like man my whole shift would just be so shitty just dude Yeah, no, that's okay. Just do you do yeah this experience or just do to for her not liking me for? What you know what a reason yeah but all the other times the other dispatchers that were just And I also want to give it to dispatchers because you have to hear What is happening in the moment and do nothing? Yeah, that's true there and just call us did you see me doing this over here? I'm like, I'm waiting to interject with that exact comment That's that's why I could not be a dispatcher No, because I cannot hear what's going on and just be like and not go help. Well, I will say I'm I'm not gonna really say anything about it But some of the stuff some very specific calls that have stuck with me over time Things that have happened where? No, nobody could help we were past help. Yeah some That you know, depending on what it was But yeah, you do you hear a lot of things you hear a lot of sad things and I think about that a lot And I try not to think about those things because of course I don't want to carry that around but like that still Shapes who I am now and how I see the world and honestly how I see Kind of kind of how I just respect people in a different way because like I I mean It was unfortunate like the time just because that was it's been a lot of things where you can either be like Propolis or not and and that's unfortunate So we don't have to get in any of that but it was heard a lot because it's like We do want to help like yeah, like you do Yeah, and and I think you're calling because you want help Like you're not calling because you want to just tell me how much we don't want to help right and I understand and I get that I Understand that I can never know what it's like to be in the shoes of some people And I'm not gonna ever be able to be there But it's also just really hard like because you're hearing a lot of things and you're you get a lot of feelings out of those things and yeah And I would I like to believe that most people are in those positions to actually help people Yeah, and of course, there's always bad eggs man Like that's exactly what I was gonna bring up. You always have that in the Marine Corps We called it the rule of the 10%. Yeah, you have 10% that just screw it up It yeah, it ruins it for everybody and that's a huge bummer. Yeah, it is it is a bummer. Yeah, that's something that I Now, you know hindsight 2020 I saw it and if I could have just you know been this different version of me It is also I do think that we're under trained. I think that there were times where You know it and again, we don't have to go, you know too far into it But the entire thing with you know, George Floyd, you know, there's so many things that you can That was really rough and but this lack of education of for me being you know at the time I think I was like 115 to 120 pounds and You know my defensive tactic courses were You know little to none. I had to do it on my own Okay, a gym where I could do stuff on my own. Yeah, but like nobody, you know Doing things to somebody you should know where their carotid arteries are. You should know Sure, you should know where these kind of important. Yeah people. Yeah, and and they don't I agree one You know if you are, you know an asshole cop and then yeah Don't know anything about arteries and what could kill somebody. Yeah. Yeah, like or block off their breathing or whatever You know, like so so for me it was like I had to do these things all on my own because I was already Underestimated it was already a small woman where I knew I went into this department knowing that I had to earn the respect It wasn't just like a man coming on being like, oh, yeah, he'll back me up just cuz he's in so one thing I've learned from martial arts was There's tons of people walking around here who are very confident in their fighting skills who have never been into a fight No, so right that part confuses me. Okay, you're in law enforcement You maybe went through some defect defensive tactics in your you know training at the police academy Yeah, and now you really think that you could like right I could probably take some people on where is that confidence coming from? I'm I'm very I've humbled myself what you did soon. Sure knowing Yeah, no, we need to be these officers you are warriors You are not getting that training in your department. You need to be doing it on your own Yeah, and and that's a huge part of it So for me, I had to do all of these things on my own of just I when I'm at the gym that I used To go to I started to do more defensive training. I did more MMA training Because I'd approve myself when if a moment were to arise No one would really expect me to help them. I'd have to prove it and there were times where I did do that Yeah, but yeah, you know that so it's just this lack of education of this being able to educate our officers And that's where I feel like a lot of these things started to I sorry I have to digress back to Passionate about it and like looking back. It's like man. I wish I could have really portrayed this in a better way But Well, it's hard and I mean, yeah living it's hard, you know And I think a lot of people aren't aren't living that and that makes it a little different. Of course, so It's yeah, it's okay to have passion about those things because it's a big deal It's also important to just be a person right like Just feel like a person feel like people are people and no matter who they are That's always hard. I feel like I can dig it man. Will Ferrell semi-pro That's right, man. Everybody love everybody and Jackie Moon. Come on, man I love Will Ferrell. He's Off the cuff then what's your what's your favorite will for a movie? Oh My god that was so good. That was my first I'm gonna drive date And and and I had a I had a 79 t-bird I love that car only eight years old Right Yeah, I can't even now Yeah, and The girl that I took out on the day Her dad had just bought her a 78 stingray Mmm, and I told her I knew how to drive a stick And I stalled it out a couple times nice, but I didn't know how to drive a stick I learned on a three on the tree Hmm. I just didn't yeah, I stalled it. I was a little nervous, but so I was impressive. You were I wasn't saying You know those guys walking around with all that confidence like whoa, I could wreck somebody. Yeah, that's how I was this one date scenario Didn't matter because I was Didn't matter except for sitting behind her in math class. Yeah, that's right. That's right. That's right Man, I'll tell you East Lansing got weird That is awesome no, thanks for thanks for diving into that I it's that's hard That's why I didn't I didn't I didn't mean to push you there I I but I did want to Kind of test the waters a little bit on getting into that as and I'm glad you covered it as as a female Right, and I think it's so tough. I Don't know I'm not a female, but I think it's got to be a little tough You know and I've told you about conversations. I've had with Katie Being a woman in her workplace sure and you know she's in a very male-dominated workforce and How do you handle that have you ever felt like you've? Been underestimated or or whatever just based on being a woman and thankfully she told me no But there's been a lot more of that proving aspect I Personally dislike that and I'm guilty. I used to be one of those guys in the Marine Corps who would say oh this is a man's job and Then I met a supply clerk Hmm who proved me wrong? This girl could throw down and I remember telling her at a fob a forward operating base You need to go with us like this this next outside the wire thing like Let's flak jacket you up and get you a weapon and let's go. She couldn't she she like legally could not sure and I Think there's differences between men and women when it comes to I don't want to go down that road It's important to address like I'm not implying that like I'm your equal to the point where I'm like lifting the same And I'm you know I'm not implying that sure I know where our differences are too Yeah, and at the same time potentially could do the same There's plenty of women that absolutely can they make me look small that could absolutely outlift me, too Yeah, well and technically women are lifting heavier than men you know per pound But but but still I mean even though something that I and I'm sorry to interrupt you no no no Something that I was really grateful for was I had an officer who would always Asked me to back them on things and it really confused me. I'm like I asked him one day I was like why why did you ask me to back you? He goes well, you know how to talk down a situation He goes you're really good at talking to people and so and he goes I when when I went to this certain house I knew sometimes that they could be you know a little yeah, aggressive or the way they would talk and you're really good at deescalating Okay, like that that made me feel really good because that was and I do feel like as a female officer There are a lot of wonderful female officers who yeah that is their superpower like yes I know I'm not gonna beat up this you know 200 plus pound guy coming at me not realistic But let's talk though deescalate a situation you know and yeah And a lot of times more men are gonna be less inclined to want to fight me then you know Yeah, and it becomes a little penis contest between all these men There is so there is so that's why I do think there is such beauty in and in seeing the differences But also yeah recognize the difference, but but hone it yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah hone it and own it Oh, I like that Yeah building off that it that supply clerk like I just said that story, but Outside of that now. I'm gonna flip it again is now. You're an entrepreneur Yeah, your business owner right like so you've had this crazy cool Sometimes bad sour taste in your mouth, and now I look at you now right like all that stuff shaped you Yeah, who you are now, and you've got like this perfect We won't call it perfect, but a bubble that is very cool And you've got a good team around you. You've got a lot of support around you and And she she didn't mention, but her kids are adorable like nice Nice yeah, they're they're they're cool kids But You know what is what is that looking like now how has all of that shaped you into the business owner you are now yeah, and It I just lost my train of thought with the word I wanted to use and this happens a lot you guys will all get used to this So I'm gonna let Nick come in with the 911 rescue What does it look like next then I think I think part of it is I? agree like I want to know how that has changed into now like what is today and then Like what's what does tomorrow look like or is tomorrow not on the horizon for you like that's totally acceptable answer Because this is where I wanted to go. Thank you because I think yes I think some of it is I think all too often we think about and Nick and I talk about this a lot and I think it's becoming a trend for us. Is that all too often we think about this like end goal I was like man. It's just about enjoying the part. We're in now and I Got a buddy at work. It's gonna give me shit about this. I Always talk about the the part in the office when it's like I wish somebody could tell us we were in the good Old days before we left it. Yeah, look at you Mitch. Yeah. Yeah, and and I think that's real though, right? Yeah, those those are very important because it's just It's so easy to get caught up in the social media hustle and bustle crap. That's not real. Yeah, everything's fabricated it's for a specific type of audience or everybody and they just make it look like it's that way and That's a huge bummer to me Like I think it's just way cooler to be able to say like I'm in this thing now Here's what I'm doing and maybe you have awesome plans to change that maybe you don't that's cool, too So, I mean, yeah, what does that look like now today and how you've gotten here? And then what's that look like if there's anything for tomorrow? The first thing that came to mind was the transition from law enforcement to nails was really difficult Okay in the culture shock sure of Being surrounded by men and then being sure my women. Yeah. Yeah, that was Wild to me. I remember there was one girl that used to work with and she'd be late all of the time She still had her job. There was no like to an appointment And I'm like, oh my god. I remember one time I said locked the keys in my car and I got written up Matt work You just don't be late, yeah and so so just the transition to this like He's a breezy loosey goosey kind of job was yeah really difficult plus being surrounded by women Was also difficult because at this particular place There really wasn't as much drama as you'd think there would be but there was still I mean we had oh, you know 20 plus women there. So there were times where I got into Drama with people and there were some situations. So that was even difficult for me. I Will never forget the first time I I was so new and there's this woman who had her gel fingernail polish It was the exact same brand exact same color She felt like it did not exactly match her toenail lacquer because it's a polish not a gel I don't want to we don't need to get into all that. But anyway, this is They were supposed to be the same color When the polish there's a gel polish so one cares in a light and one cures in the air Okay, ah see that was what I was gonna ask They have the lights now, I know the lights yeah. Yeah. Yeah light. Well, I've seen I've seen the lights I've walked past the light. Yes Yes, this lady wanted this lady wanted light hand gel, but her toes wanted air polish Okay So like a little color variation was she right or no it was the exact same color exact same color exact same brand exact same Name we spent 30 minutes Talking about this how she felt this color didn't match and that she was just so upset about it and I That tested my patience. I Was just in my head like I just there's people out there killing themselves. There's people out there murdering it like yes Yeah, oh my god, I can't believe yeah, I literally couldn't believe I was having this conversation with somebody Yeah, which is just blowing my mind and that's when I was really like did I make the right decision? That was that moment, you know, I've had that moment we all have but I can feel that Oh my gosh. I was like this is insane. I don't know if I can talk to women like this like this is crazy Well, it's a perspective difference, right? Yeah, because your clientele so to speak was very different Yeah, because that's the service that you're providing right like that's what it is, but then at the same time you're like, oh boy Yeah, and I don't remember too. You know, she's she's paying me I can't just be like a girl shut the fuck up and just get But so it was totally a different Way that I had to handle it and then that's when I it from then on I Started growing and learning about you know The masculine and feminine and yeah me having to really get out of my masculine Into this feminine role That was really difficult and I've learned to take that into management to grow Where I'm at now because I generally loved and loved doing nails It was I'm also a creative person. So part of being in law enforcement. It took out that creativity So I felt like I could do that here and I really really enjoyed that. Yeah, so And and you know, whatever I do, I don't know if anyone cares. I'm a Capricorn Actually the first time I told you that I was a tourist you went yeah Yeah, you say it every time to everybody I don't do astrology, but I'm sure that it makes sense Astronomy though look out 100% astronomer So that me being a Capricorn I get I do believe in that sense of I will just give 110% no matter what my job Yeah, I'm gonna give 110% So I did that and I just really I fell in love and now I it's so funny what you were talking about of Um where I'm at now was what I imagined that was my goal So yeah, so it's hard to take moments of like, okay This is what I wanted because you don't ever feel like that when you get to where you want to be you don't feel Like you've made it. There's always something else. There's always a next like oh no, but I need more I need more I need more and so now I'm like I am like in this moment right now I'm taking the opportunity to be like my I have really grown my business to Actually probably greater than I imagined which is awesome. That's cool. It's super cool and to want more right isn't agreed thing It's a comp. It's a competitive thing with yourself. Yeah And a societal thing too, and we need that in having that push So so of me trying to find this harmony of okay I want to continue growing my business But I also don't want to burn myself out and run myself into the ground which is what I'm very good at Because you have a mom hat to wear Yeah, right. So That's that's like one thing that we and we Nick and I have loved talking about since we started this podcast was yeah Where does that fine line exist and it's different for everybody? Yeah, you know, I love the competitive mindset But you always have to remember you have others relying on you who call you mom You know, I have them that call me dad You know, I'm that way I could I'll work all day I'll dig you a ditch for months I will never quit Until now with the wisdom I have now and and honestly a lot of the help came from Randy having him work there He would tell me that you know through life experience Nick. I Love how competitive you are and I love how much you want, but you've got to remember who's supporting you So just keep that in mind, you know moving forward the competitive mindset Moving forward the competition keep it fresh You want to keep growing keep growing but don't let it affect The home I will say we're getting raw here. So that has always been what's affected my home Yeah, is my I work too much Okay, and that has it and you know in my previous relationship that was a huge thing that that came up a lot It's something that my mom has brought up to me I mean it's something that really a lot of loved ones around me friends family It's been an issue for actually my whole life. Yeah, is that I work too much. I just do too much So I am trying to find this this harmony of yeah, and now that I am a single parent trying to Okay, I these are the times I have my kids like I do really really want to take that time to appreciate being there Yeah, this is all kind of fresh. So the fact that you're even bringing this up is it's really fresh for me because I'm like I yeah, sorry Like that's I wouldn't talk about it right if okay, okay I wasn't ready but it is something where I'm like, okay I have to really start to zoom out and see this bigger picture of I want to slow down my personal hustle culture Be a better mom be there for my kids And and make this change up not just for them, but but for me. Yeah, I can be a better mom Yeah, yeah, that's awesome. That's good. It's it goes back to that that old cliche You know you get on the airplane you're getting your safety brief and put your own mask on and you know and that's that's what I like to preach to people and you probably hear me all day talking to people and That's the if they have real things are bringing to me, you know, and I'll sit back and go look man I am the last one who who will tell you I'm perfect. All right, I've burned the bridges I've made the bad choices. I've done it all Yep, but what I've learned is that I might not be perfect, but I'm gonna try Yeah, I promise you I will try to be better. I will try to bring I'm more intentional. That's the word I'm looking for and and just be intentional and move on you're never gonna be perfect But it we want to be because we're competitive We want to be the three of us sitting here right now are uber competitive Yep, and yep And everybody everybody we bring on and everybody we will continue to bring on is gonna be a competitive nature And it's all about learning more than like and this is what I love about this show too It's like I want to learn from you and yeah I want to learn from Nick and learn from all the other guests is where's this line and what I found so far Is you know, it's it's not a one-size-fits-all It's it's like anything in life. Yeah, my size doesn't fit you. Yep But just as long as we're cognizant of Well, that's why I call it harmony and we love that balance way too much because life is cannot always be balanced It's like sometimes I think people get so stuck on I need more balance But that means that they're spending X amount of time working X amount of time with family expert Yeah, but when I when I'm start if you're starting a business you cannot Not be focusing on your business. Yeah, that has to be what is a lot of your that's your baby But this understanding and and that's been my baby. So now I'm having to understand I don't have to do everything right and where is this this me needing to do everything coming from because now I'm realizing Okay, this one that competitiveness not just needing to be perfect needing to to you know Bring in all the money and having to do all these things Where's that coming from? Because it's not doing me any good. I'm not like, you know, yeah serving me Well, there is a healthy part of it where there's more harmony. Yeah, and I'm in that hunt I like that what you just brought up. Yeah the balance thing We need to get away from that and go more to this harmony Yeah, life is not always going to be balanced all of the time. No, but if we understand Oh right now, I'm just I'm having to focus some more time right here But it won't always be like this. Yeah, and sometimes I can get stuck in the and I'm spending time here And we need to be okay getting stuck on I always go to a wheel and the we the the reason I go to the wheels because I there's this men's group that I belong to and it's Called the wheel group and there's a spoke for each aspect of your life Yeah, and it's not so much like you rate each spoke from a zero to a ten ten being the best zero being the Worst and what we what are the premise of this group is to keep them Balanced but harmony I'm gonna I'm gonna use harmony. Yeah If you have, you know one spoke for finance that's at a ten You have another spoke for your family life that's at a three. Okay, what does that wheel do when it rolls now? It's wobbly. Yeah, and and that's where I always try to I try to live my life through two things outside of my family And one of them is AA and the other one is the wheel group because I think both of them combined You know and in AA meetings, I do hear harmony more than anything. It's a very I Almost think overused word in the AA Sector right is this harmony this pink cloud this yeah, you know And that's why I've always gone the other way on it, but the way you're bringing harmony to me. I I Think I see harmony as it's so flowing. It's like water. It just goes Structured and solid. Yeah, but harmony is Is very as flowy. Yeah, and I just had this nice visual in my head. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. See I told you dude She'll like it's the thing. Calm me down. Yes. Yeah, she's taking she's taking notes from sleep token, man Somewhere in there there was a time a few years ago when I Was showing up to work like usual and no I was like What's wrong with you Nothing, I'm good. Yeah. Hey come sit down. You tell me what's wrong nothing. I can see it And it's funny because just before we started talking about this Hensley was down here and we were talking and I go Yeah, there was that one day. No, I looked at me and she was like, what's wrong with you? Mm-hmm. Yeah, she'll pull it out of you. It's true and and thing man Yeah, and you're I don't know why it was but the harmony thing in my head reminded me of that moment again where We don't use that word enough. Yeah, I like that. Yeah, I think because because I feel pressure Balance puts so much pressure on people and they feel like oh, I need I need balance It was just harmony. It's fine because I just allows you to take these one steps at a time and okay I'm recognizing I'm seeing where I'm at now. I can flow into the next portion of my life Yeah, we use we say that we value, you know our family and our friends and there are some people You know God or spirituality, but we where do we spend our most time? Yeah, and that's usually not with the things that we say we value the most sure so Of having to to change that and to understand. Okay, do I need to be here where what do I value most right now? Yeah, and that means adjusting my life and my world to be in a space where I can Where I can be in a privileged position to give that time and space for what I value most. Yeah. Yeah, I like that That is man. I think that is a very good point. Yeah, I think I'm gonna sleep better tonight. Yeah Yeah, just the reality of what you what you I think there's a There's not a balance we now know there's not a balance I think there's a good kind of differential between like the things you want and the things you need and I think some of that is is hard because Like I need a petition Yeah, I have to have it. Yeah, and then you know kind of your point How I punch bad guys Exactly, that's what I do Yeah, I mean it's it's a lot like that You know, there's there's got to be things that are just like an actual need versus like I just kind of have this thing That I really want to do because I think that that's where my next step is. Like what's my where does it fit? So as Nick pulls through his quote of the days I've you know, it's really funny. I was looking for my opening for these so I have There that they're the eight things in life that you must get over to Have true success and and not not doesn't mean financial but sure success. It looks different for everybody You know and That's a good question for everybody at this island right now, too What's your definition of success and I think we would probably be about the same but we would have some some differences But number one here is is particularly one of my favorites Because I think it kind of works against what we were just talking about like with this harmony. Oh, there's Winston I knew he would make his I knew he'd make his entrance Hi, did you get your martini? So fancy my refined doggy? Yeah, I know right They put it on a toothpick wasn't on a spia Okay, so number one is there's someone out there who's way less qualified than you living the life you want 100% simply because they took action. Yes and and it Almost works against what we were just talking about but also with now that I read it out loud It's it's it can be right in the middle of that. Yeah, what does that look like? What action? But what did that action take away from that? We value the most right so you you bring the value in and like you said the The the things and the people we value the most are typically the last to get the attention sure And there is another one in here So if you guys want to talk about that one or unless you're like no totally mind-blown Nick man Whoa, you blew it out of the water. I'm speechless. I My mind has been blown Okay, this one struck a chord with me and I'm gonna do like a couple of these with each episode But I'm gonna stick with the first two so that first one in this one this one Honestly when I it gave me goosebumps when I read it because it's it speaks to me and I hope it speaks to other people out there too, and what I hope people get is Number one like I've already said a million times. I'm not perfect, right? I've been down this nasty dark road in this dark hole that I hope nobody else has to go down But if you are I'm the man you want to talk to because I will be the first one to have your back You will never make lasting changes until you forgive your past self. Mm-hmm. I just got goosebumps again. Yeah So true you don't even I don't even need to elaborate on that anymore because When you can get to a point in your life, this is my level of success I have forgiven my past self. Sure. I forgive myself every day Every single day no matter what I do if it's the worst thing I've ever done the job I've ever done or the best job I've ever done or and not just talking about work But with coaching with parenting with being a husband. I've I've forgiven my past self So my problems today are nowhere near the problems of my past because I've already forgiven. Yeah, I've grown from it I'm past it. I'm not gonna drag it along like a suitcase. It's behind me. It's done. Yep. Here I am Yeah, and that's important to understand it like you said to grow but also to like teach growth, right? Yeah, I think it's hard because like I mean we've talked about this like when I was coaching baseball It was always so funny that the parents expectation was like it's your responsibility to make sure they get to the next level. Yeah Nope, I'm gonna make them be a decent human who's just good at baseball Bingo. Yes, I would much rather they don't suck every day at life because I can teach them to not suck it Yeah that part I'm not worried about yeah, but like It's just it. I completely agree. I think there's a great point to make because all of the things that we talk about is like being who you are and No matter the good the bad the indifferent like that's still who you are so you have to be able to handle the things that have happened and then just Let them nudge you in the right direction. Yeah, you know, yeah Reminders it's not like a roadblock or like a deterrent, right? Right. Just not Yep Don't those things all of those things that have triggered you all those things that upset you in the past Those are what create your current reality and yeah, you let all of that trauma all of that pain all of that suffering You know continue to be in your current reality That is how you respond and react to every situation that comes your way You don't have the self-awareness to say I am reacting to this because of X Y and Z Yeah, and it becomes even more painful and painful and painful and then you start to realize. Oh Happiness is a choice. Yeah. Yeah the my existence and my reality can change upon myself Right and but it's it's really hard to have that self-awareness And to take that responsibility because one taking that responsibility means that you have to go through this awful You know deep awakening of forgiving yourself and having to go through all of these Previous experiences where you were not the best version of you But once you actually do take that responsibility you realize this is empowering it is I actually have Control over my emotions over my reality that came up even you know when someone was talking about trust and I was like No, no, no trust is a choice So when we have all these, you know, these, you know troublesome relationship part of the cases where it's like Trust is comes up so often in relationships Yeah, and you experience this moment where and all of a sudden that kind of hit me, you know where it was like, you know Talking about trust. I'm like wait. No, I get to choose that Yeah, trust is not stronger than I am right, you know, right same with love with any emotion These are not stronger emotions than who we are. So these are choices, but we feel Winston Winston that wasn't very gentlemanly of you Come here you refined piece of machinery Sorry about that Noel, it's just doodle things, you know, oh Winston you sly devil stealing the show. Yeah, if it wasn't you you'd be served at a restaurant I went south and so fast This is about me now, but I do like that that trusting said I've never heard it put that way before I always thought that was like something that you just It's your choice to trust I always thought like I went the other way on that in the future or in the future in the past where Yeah, it is earned But it's your choice to let them earn that right, right. It's cool. Yeah, I like that. It's empowering It is like that, you know, so with it kind of I guess I'm sorry I digress back into what that quote was of allowing us to release and let go of these things Yeah, because then you just you feel so you're just I used to um, so also with martial arts I did taekwondo. Okay And I would no big deal. Yeah, I suck at the BJJ, but I'm an expert at the taekwondo Really bad Nobody come fight me I can't I will not win But you know with that I remember being I was just this angry kid and I had I had some trauma That I was carrying with me and I remember I would let it out in taekwondo and yeah I loved that about martial arts and I would just be so angry and I would just be like so I'd have so Much power and then I there was a moment and when I was in jujitsu and I was like Muster up this anger Angry and I couldn't yeah, and I had at that moment in time. I had done so much of this like healing and meditation. I'm like Angry somebody come smack me or something. Like I really I really wanted to give you a black eye today, but now I can't What is the number to that dispatcher? And so now you know now there's different ways of me pulling up ways to bring up my adrenaline Yeah, but I remember just starting I was like this doesn't feel like it did when I was in taekwondo I yeah, not as angry anymore. Yeah And I think it goes to show of just like releasing forgiving. Yeah growth And it showed up in different aspects of my life that I wasn't expecting. Yeah, that's really cool. That is super cool That feels like a really good spot. Take quick break and then dive into part two. Be right back be right back Welcome back Welcome You know Nick and I are gonna start shooting each other with nerf guns There's gonna be there's gonna be things there's gonna be things that happen. It's just part of it. It's just what we do here It's what we do here. And now I I've got my beverage Or is this Or is the Japanese do that Japanese say Kanpai? Oh, okay. I did not know that. Yes that skull for all the Norwegians Didn't know that either. Nostrovia for I think Russians. I like that. I know none of them. All right Country western cheers cheers one love Everybody love everybody. That's right Anyway That was a good break and now we're now we're fired away You know that all just reminded me of what happened reminded me of work yesterday Me too. You were in the kitchen and Kenzie and I are talking and she comes in she's like doing all these She's like I need a coffee I need six shots in my coffee and I'm like you look like Suzanne Somers right now Dancing around. What are you doing? And I was like five shots in espresso Hey whatever works at that point I like having this serious conversation. Well, it's in the corner. Just like squatting down I'm like, what is she doing? You're not 100% sure if it's like a territorial thing or not Everybody's bracing wait, this is one of them BJJ things What exactly what did you yell out to me too because you were laughing too you're like I'm opening my hips up In the middle of the kitchen, hey, I mean, you know when you feel it you just gotta make it happen That's I I just don't hold back anything. No, it's fair me. You're getting I respect it. I respect it, but that's the bungalow way of life. We just kind of let it out Yeah, the bungalow way. Yeah, there's no shame in that house Sometimes I feel like I probably should but you know, but why change There's enough y'all and it's separated enough it's kind of just like one big dysfunctional happy family They all agree though. I am the big brother. They never wanted ah So it all checks out it does There's there's a good balance in there as long as everybody knows I think it's cool, you know, it doesn't matter Yeah, it's all good. Or should I say harmony? Harmonize see I'm gonna try to keep you should we try should we try? Oh Well killed the vibe no harmonize in tonight she hasn't had enough to drink what if you start it and we'll just kind of fall in So part one we talked just like about so much so much and there's a lot there And I think that like we said it really it really plays into who you are now But I do want to ask the question of like who would you say you are now? You know what? I'm figuring that out. Okay, I am in the middle of figuring that out because I think I'm in this transition period where I'm like I Get to I'm not asking myself like who am I? I'm what who do I want to be? Yeah, and that's where I'm at now. Oh and I think we reach that point sometimes where we're like Whoa, I've just shed a lot. I've just I'm adjusting I'm really becoming a new version of myself and I can feel the transformation happening right now. So Right now I'm becoming of who I want to be. Yeah, and kind of we're talking about, you know before I want to Do less hustle focus on family be a better mom. I want to be a better friend You're reinventing right now. Yeah. Yeah, it's not a bad place to be. Yeah, that's okay It's terrifying but it's okay And it can be both, you know, I feel I feel broken but I also feel You know excited and ready. So yeah, and I'm sorry. No, no, no, you're good. You're good. I'm I'm having a thought do it I I feel like cuz I think that's one of those things that are not enough people recognize Right, like it's cuz I think it's happening more than people understand it to be happening Kind of back to your point of like being able to kind of give up the past and move on I don't think I think that's a challenge by itself. First of all, but like at the same time I don't think enough people are realizing like I'm just kind of in it. Yeah, like I don't know What that is yet and like I think that as it's kind of like the whole thing What is that saying about like if your your taste buds change like every seven years, right? Yeah, cuz like is that also like me like do I also change every seven years? Yes So that is a thing see that thing. Yeah, literally every seven years. I like that So, I mean the reality is is that I'm not the same person I was in college I'm not the same person. I when I was thank God. Thank God. I was in college I'm not the same person. I was in high school. Thank double God Not the same person I was back, you know it changes so much of course because I'm learning new things and all that but like the reality I think is that We can kind of say who we kind of want to be and who we kind of kind of are right? but like I am still figuring out like this segment of life like now that I'm a new dad like Thank you Like it's it's hard Figure it out. Yeah, and I think that's the best way to put it is like we're just kind of figuring it out There's not like a good way and everybody has their own opinion So I'm not gonna tell anybody or listen to that many of how there's ways to do They do all have their own opinion, but I do like that. You're honest enough to say I don't know. I'm like evolving right now. Yeah, you know, that's and that's cool Have to know they are yeah all the time. Oh, I'm guilty. Yeah Right now actually I'm really figuring it out I'm really kind of discovering this new version of me because how do we done this podcast, you know a Few months ago. I would have been like oh, I would have had yeah Now I'm like, whoa, that's okay gets not me anymore and I do I feel this sense of like Mostly like separation for my body just like this this of Okay, I'm becoming this new version of myself I'm self-aware I've become to this point in my life where I'm so much more self-aware of who I am that I know when I am In transition to becoming a newer version of me and I can take that growth I can take all these things and tools that I have gained up into this point and use them Or not. Yeah, and I'm gonna try to use them to be a better version So yeah Yeah, and you brought up terrifying it is terrifying when you when you were in this reinvention mode You don't know exactly who you are But yeah But what I will say on a positive note with pain and with fear right because I think fear and pain are kind of One in the same where I've I've brought this up many times to my wife or my kids sometimes It's okay to embrace the pain because pain is also a good teacher Yeah, I love so kind of working out Your experience but what I love is that you work through the pain if you experience pain So your muscles can grow your they have your muscles have to literally tear apart so that they can come back together Yeah, and that's what we experience through pain Yeah, so but that I will say that is something I always lived my life by of like Yeah, yeah, yeah, and I did say that to somebody one time and she goes you also know you're alive cuz you're feeling love We don't talk about that Way too far So it is of like this this dichotomy and it can be both yeah, I am in experiencing a lot of pain right now But I'm also experiencing so much love Yeah, those are the two things that the pain is helping me grow and the love is keeping me strong. Yeah That's a that's a crazy balance it's a crazy harmony You heard it here first Yeah, I really like that I like that that We're hitting on something. It doesn't get talked about a lot and it is because I'm guilty that I'll have some of my Clients I've known for a long time that come in and they'll ask me how you doing. I know I'm alive man. I hurt today Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't say I know I'm alive cuz I felt loved this morning you're right like Yeah, it's so weird to say but it's very true, too Yeah It is I like that because the best part of love the highest vibration is love We are meant to just to love and to be love and to express love and to show love Yeah, pain is something that helps us grow and it it steers us in a good path Yeah to not go there again. Yes. Yeah, not meant to live to be in pain though. Yeah. Yeah pain We can appreciate as a teacher But love is what we're meant to be. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's No, it's good it's good It's interesting because I think back to I can't remember who was telling me this or if I saw this on a video or something, but somebody I Think they like bumped into someone and Like the person turned around and was like, oh my gosh, I'm sorry and they like we're kind of taking it back because they didn't know what to do with the fact that someone was just like Hey my bad and I'm painting a bit of a vivid picture here in the fact that like I'm not just saying like the world Sucks and everybody's horrible But like I think it is more regular for if somebody were to just bump into be like, oh, it's no big deal Like I think people are more used to that now than they are just somebody being like, hey, you okay? Yeah, like yeah. Yeah, you know, like I think people are more used to that And yeah, like it might catch somebody off guard which that sucks. Yeah, I know right Yeah, yeah decency is now all of a sudden like this weird off-putting thing and that is your purpose in life though Yeah, we think that we have to have these big purposes in life Yeah, but sometimes that moment of kindness was your purpose that day, right? We are meant to just be kindness and love. So when people ask me, what is your purpose in life? Your existence being here is your purpose. Oh, yeah everything that you do you where you are You're exactly where you're meant to be. You're loving you are Exactly who you are meant to be and where you're supposed to be with a whole heart. I agree with you Yeah, I agree with that. You're amazing That was in general If I could just deliver a message that would be it because so many people come to me and they want to know for You know readings for yeah for tarot and mediumship. What's my purpose? Yeah, I'm like, whoa Why are why and I feel it so deeply of you are already living your purpose Yeah, we think we're supposed to be curing cancer and changing lives But it's like your kindness and your love that you show people every day. That is your purpose Yeah, so when we're not in that we're not feeling that that's also okay because other people are also meant to show you Kindness we're only here for you know for so long Me doing nails is not my purpose in life. I love doing nails, but that's not my purpose Yeah, you know the purpose is talking to the person that says yes nail colors doesn't match Maybe she's having a really bad day. Exactly. Maybe she was and that's why you didn't blow up Exactly, and she just needed me to she just needed to listen Yeah, I was that punching bag for that day I just showed her compassion that's right there you go let it all happen That was my purpose that day. Yeah, you know l1 Noel won that day. Good job So in that case are you just telling those people like hey go watch that show the big-door prize Do you guys see that one? Mm-hmm. It's like they have some it's like a tiny town and they have this machine show Up in the town. It's like a basically like an arcade game But then you go press the button and it shoots out a car that tells you your destiny Character who's a high school teacher it pops out his car. It's just a high school teacher How to get through this like it's it's very much like what you're saying But like it's it's just kind of a funny concept of that. It's like don't focus on other people's crap focus on you Yeah, yeah, and maybe I'm totally misinterpreting. Yeah, I only did four years of film analysis I Mean it's it is that is a great point to make because it's so much like I think it's honestly at this point Are they coming with the question of what is my purpose are they coming with the question of validate me? Because it could be that like they feel invalidated in the world based on all the crap we see on social media anymore And I don't I mean I'm not in your shoes I don't know but like it could be it could be a series of things, right? I think people want to know what am I supposed to be doing in life? Like am I doing the right thing? Am I helping enough people? Yeah, and we forget that we so many people don't give themselves enough credit sure Right. It's just recently talking to a friend who's a nurse and she goes and helps people who are you know, they have they need maintenance they need you know, they have an injury or they have something and she goes into their house and helps them with their their ailments and They put so much trust in her and she she just felt like what do I feel like I meant for more? I feel like I'm like, oh my gosh Can you imagine how important you are to these people, right? Like they and and and the story she's telling me of like them trusting her over their own children For some things and I was like, whoa, whoa. That speaks volumes. Yeah, go back. Yeah, you are forgetting How wonderful and amazing of a human you have been like yeah people you are everything because for her it's just every day I do this every day. It is what it is. Yeah To those people they're looking forward to seeing you Yeah, we just forget how we are so impactful and the people around us and that's your purpose is to just You and I went on a deep conversation about that recently about our jobs What we do and what it means to people and because I think we were both kind of feeling that I I Know I was talking to Tiffany for sure about this But I think it might have been you too where I was like I'm at this like crossroads and I brought up To Katie too, like what am I meant to be doing? Yeah, and I kid you not It was that week. It was like a couple days later. I did have a client come in and we talked I mean he had some things going on and I talked him through it and he asked me questions and I gave him Answers not that he wanted to hear but that maybe he needed to hear sure and he left before he left He's like man that really helped. I appreciate you today I feel like I need to give you my my insurance card or and I'm like no man It's what is what I do man Like I I love that you opened up and then we got to talk about it and he left and I was like Oh, it just slapped me in the face. I wasn't just meant to cut your hair Yes, I was meant to be here today to listen to you. Tell me that yes I first experienced that when I was doing nails and I I thought oh crap. I messed up. Yeah, I should still be a cop I'm not helping anybody. I'm just doing people's nails Ridiculous. My whole life is just set to help people and now I'm I'm wasting my time literally that day someone came in and I'm a sexual assault survivor and she came in and had experienced sexual assault and was actually just at that point Dealing with it a lot of stuff had actually come up for her right before she came into her nail appointment and That's all we talked about. Yeah. Yeah and After that I was like, okay, okay, I get it This this this makes sense now. Yeah, here's where I'm meant to be Yeah, you know because people are just telling me things. Why would she tell her and he'll take that no, right? You know, I'm you feel like you're nobody right? Yeah, but that's exactly why she could talk to me about it Yeah, exactly You know so and then you know shortly after that someone was pregnant and they told me before they even told their husband Literally just found out, you know, I was so I'm like, okay. Yeah, and then I just rolled with that. Yeah Sorry, that was just no. Yeah, that's awesome. That's awesome. Yeah You know I've people who are even just like I've had someone who was an accountant and they came in for a reading and I'm Like think of how important you are to these people's lives Like yeah, we are all so important and so vital in this world and because we're doing so much more than what we just Think we're doing It's your presence. It's who you are. It's it's the energy you bring into every day How you interact with other people that is what you're doing. That is the bigger picture. Yeah Yeah, it reminds me so much of a An AA meeting I was at a couple of this is a couple years ago But I'll never forget this topic because it lives so heavy on me. It was An older gentleman with a lot of years of sobriety under his belt he had brought up there was a topic that was brought up and another younger guy younger than me was talking and He was so caught up in being the bad guy in somebody's story and This older gentleman, I was no I was part of the meeting but I wasn't part of this They were going across the table talking to each other where it was in front of all of us because it was a topic Meeting and he goes you're caught up on one person you being a bad story Can you give me examples of good stories? He just kept spouting off like all these good things that have been happening what he did what he's been doing kids wife Mom dad boom, but boom and he goes you're gonna let that one Yeah, one. Are you kidding me? You should be bragging About this and drop that and I hit his I'll never forget his eyes He just like opened up started crying and I'm like, yes, I need it So talk about needing to be someplace someday I needed it that day, but that's a good point to make because it's like It's kind of like the whole mountains out of Ant Hill situation. Yeah, like that's negativity Yeah, and negativity feeds off of like negative thoughts and then it continues down this big path, right? Whereas like in in our shoes The reality is that we do have a lot more that we can be thankful for be happy for But we don't think about that because it's this it's this I don't want to call it a perfectionist mindset Cuz I don't think everybody has that but it's definitely like the looking like we have it all together Mindset and that sucks because yeah who does yeah, you know who does I was a master at pretending that Yeah master sure. I looked like a rose all the thorns were inside you could now I just I Wear it. Yeah But that's that that is what I think and like you said, you know, I've talked about talked about this before, you know I've lost somebody and I think that those are the types of things that that negativity just kind of overtakes and it continues to just feed on That until all of a sudden you don't really have anybody talked to you Don't get to talk to anyone about it Not that maybe maybe not get to is not the right word But you don't feel that you get to like you feel like your problems are not anybody else's and you're just Weighing people down just really unfortunate and I hope people don't continue to feel that way if they do and if you do find a way to help it right I'm gonna help but like If you are going to have those negative thoughts like this person that was stuck on the one thing It took somebody else telling them. Yeah to say like look at all the good stuff. Look at the cool things and That can be hard. So if you're not Expressing that somewhere It'll just eat you up. Yeah, it will. Yeah, that's where that self-awareness comes in Yeah, am I feeding into this or right? So that's why so many people who are saying oh, I'm an empath and if I'm around people and I feel so sad Okay. Well Also, we forget we're so powerful. Yeah, if you are and if you say that you're an empath then you can Give out positive energy. You can turn a whole room into a more positive Mindset you can change other people around you you can change out the way they're thinking All with this love and compassion of like I'm not I don't need to change you Yeah, all that's why it becomes all back to self I am just a lighthouse and if you want to receive that light great If not, I cannot control that No, I'm just going to be here and express love and that's where that self-awareness comes in of okay my feeding into that Negativity or am I allowing yeah, you know it or am I sending and spreading love and then being that lighthouse I can only bring it back to self. I can't change anything. I can't change other people's decisions in life, right? No matter what but I can only be this lighthouse and that's why we do have to bring it back to self We do have to remember that we are responsible for our feelings our emotions our decisions Because when we allow other people to be responsible for that, we will not be happy ever This is why the bungalow is a great place to work Hear a lot you feel a lot see a lot Yeah, and I mean especially in I would I would argue that that particular venue Sees probably more versions of walks of life than anywhere. Oh, yeah, it's 100%. I don't know maybe a concert Yeah, you know realistically Services provided allow for anybody to be part of the client's health, right? So it's a reality that it could be anyone I love having Nick there. I love having Tiffany as a barber because yeah, I think a lot of salons are so female Dominated and the clients are female the people working there are female. But what I love about this house is that's why I want to Keep Nick. I want it to be a Yin and yang. Yeah, I want a lot of men there. I want it. Yeah. Yeah this this beautiful, you know Masculine and feminine and yeah being a whole entire community of Men and women who are experiencing very similar things. Yeah so that leads me to another question then one that I think is Maybe slightly answered, but I'm gonna ask it more explicitly now If you had something that you have not really shared with anybody within reason whatever you want That you wish more people knew about you What what would that be that I? question everything every day I think that I kind of what we're talking about of Appearing I think I think people look at me sometimes or maybe just feeling that I have it all together Sure, or being a psychic medium, you know, I I help people and with what they have going on and I'm figuring it out to you every day. Yeah, so I I just I think that's why I get this imposter syndrome I I want to you know, I want to be on Instagram more I want to share my thoughts and feelings more but I get this sense of like I have no clue what's going on I I'm really just going by this day by day But I think that people who know me and who are around me feel like I have it together I think if you're close to me, you know that I'm very open with what I have going. Yeah Yeah, and I don't same in here. Yeah, but I think that the way that I feel portrayed is is that I have it all together and I don't sure and And and that's where I feel superhuman and I see other people, you know All these influencers are all these people who are you know, whatever sure they seem like they have it all together But nobody does and now I'm realizing that like really nobody has this. I remember a long time ago When I was actually I think it was I was applying to be in law enforcement and I was just like It's so nervous before an interview and and someone and that everybody's heard this but it was like yeah They put their pants on the same way. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's like, you know, it's so cliche I feel like people say it all the time, but when you're really like They are so human and then getting in these higher-up positions yeah meeting other people who you like really admired or you thought so highly of and you're like Yeah, yeah, I think that's that's probably it is that like I am human Yeah, that's raw. I like that and it's a real great response and it's raw but it's also very cool because They view you like that Because yeah, you do you do you carry yourself well, it's that I don't look at you as oh, she's got all her stuff together It's perfection. Why can't I why? You it's the way you carry yourself and and I think you have to have a certain amount of that within Because I'd be safe to say some people probably think that about everybody. Yeah, right like But it always that when you get on this topic it reminds me of of I know I always go to these meetings but We we were having another one of these topics like this, you know where early on in my sobriety I would be in a car and I'd be at a stoplight and the person next to me smiling and singing and I'm like Why can't that be me? Hmm and Yeah, I know Right that was a choice and And it was funny because I did bring that up to my sponsor and and he goes, oh, okay So let me give you a little little lesson here. He was close your eyes. So I closed my eyes He was all right. I'm closing mine too. I'm gonna throw all my problems in the middle of the room And I want you to do the same Okay, I did it. Okay, open your eyes now. Go grab any problem you want And I grabbed my own Yeah, I don't know what's on their plate yeah, I don't want it yeah, so once I evolved and I learned like oh Number one, it's a choice to be happy and to sing that song But I really don't know what you have and why did I just wish that I had what you have? Yeah It's it's a it's an empowering thing. So kudos to you for carrying yourself 100% but also kudos to you for being honest and raw enough to say hey peeps. I'm I'm just trying man But let me let me try to help you right be be the sounding board But also I might need you as a sounding board too the same same Yeah, so when I do my readings and when I'm like talking to other people it's like, oh my gosh I'm getting these messages. I'm like, oh, okay. That was for me. That was for me, too Like we're talking about this all at once but I'm like actually I'm getting a lot of a lot of really good information here That's definitely meant for me, too. Yeah. Yeah Well, and I think too a lot of times it's easy to just think that that was nothing, you know It's like it makes me think of that part on Pineapple Express where he's like, oh heard that wish I didn't hear that when I just heard that I Feel like that happens a lot and and I think that that's hard because It's like I think some people are like, oh, you know, I don't know what my calling is You're doing it. Yeah, but also what do you know? What do you want your calling to be? Yeah We have free will we calling is pretty much whatever What brings you joy and your calling or whatever it is It's not gonna be the same thing in five years, you know Change and that's totally okay to you and that's kind of going back to what we're saying like, okay, I'm gonna change my calling What does that mean? What am I gonna be because I'm adjusting right now. I'm in control. I'm gonna figure it all out you know, I'm going through through a lot right now a lot of life changes and What do I want? I had somebody come to me this wonderful wonderful older man and he always finds me at these at these psychic fairs and he's Keeps finding yeah, Randy keeps finding. Yeah. Yeah And he'll come and he'll be like, what are the lottery numbers? Oh my gosh, that's hilarious If I knew I would not be here right now. Yeah. Yeah talking to you And he goes he goes well, is she is she my future wife? Like am I gonna marry her and I'm like, do you want to marry her? I don't feel like I need to be psychic for some of these things. It's like what do you want you? Forget that what do you want? Right, right. Okay. Now I'm in that point of life. What what do I want? Yeah, what what's gonna bring me joy? Whatever brings you joy is where you're aligned and that's where you can provide and serve to people Yeah, yeah, you're happy and you're you're bringing joy to yourself. Okay, I can spread that joy to other people. Yeah That's awesome. That's great. That's I think that's more. So what it's all about then What a lot of people think like just being able to be kind of like you said the lighthouse thing, right like Do you want to receive that? Do you do not you just turn around right? You may not be ready Yeah, and that's totally okay. Yeah, and that's cool. Yeah, exactly because again you just turn around you could just say nope Not for me move on, you know, and that's and that's what it could be. Otherwise you could just be like, yeah This is right. Let's take it. Let's do it. Yeah, that's awesome. Yeah, I love that. I like the lighthouse thing, too Diggin that yeah, you know, it's funny My buddy Jeff, you know Jeff You know Jeff. Yep. They both know Jeff Jeff Jeff Hopefully will be a future guest. He Has a little saying that's different from the lighthouse. His is the disco ball Yeah, so I love both of them I Don't get the cryptic I didn't get the cryptic side of that but I could see where it would go cryptic His you know, his is like you have to have the light. Yeah To reflect and shine on you and when you have it you you can choose to receive the light That's that's bouncing all around right the lighthouse is all around you see I'm piecing these both together and I love that like I've got I've got two great friends who have Light at their center and I think that's really we can learn we can draw from that and very cool And no wonder people think you got yourself together. Listen to you. I mean, it's great. You're doing great Seriously, you are You know me through it. Everybody's just getting through you. You know me I I don't hold back if I didn't think you were doing great. I'd tell you that's true. Yeah I'm I am that guy and you're out of it. You're learning aren't we all And when you think it's done, you know, I've oh yeah, no the ride's so much more worse man Is this our buy-in Maybe one of our lightning round questions. Maybe she said it. Why am I human? Well, we'll make that work then it sounds like you are ready for some fun Yeah, okay, we'll make it work, you know, you know, you don't have to tell me twice If you were going to be in the Olympics, what would you compete in arm wrestling? I don't know I did not see that coming. I didn't either. I didn't see that coming You know what I was thinking about but me and Tiffany when we had our arm wrestling. Oh my gosh. Yes That was so funny. That's awesome. Oh My god, there's gotta be a video of this somewhere in the world We're gonna have to see this my client walked in looking for me because I was late to my appointment with third arm wrestling Yes, you're like, ah crap. Sorry. Yeah, let's do the basic arm wrestling I thought for sure was gonna be fencing. Oh I don't know why I thought that was my first way more regal Winston where are you? No, I think arm wrestling and again, I don't think I'd do great but that's that's incredible though, but hey that was a funny day It works and that's that's what matters is that you probably won an arm wrestling match All Right. All right. Well, I like it. I like it. I'm in for it. All right. Are you ready? Are you ready? Okay, okay Okay If there was a movie about your life What would it be called and who would play the lead character of Noel? My movie would be called this mess mmm And That one's the really hard one I've got it in my head but I'm I can't give it to you I want you to tell me no You will and then I'll let's see if we we match.
