Welcome to unspoken where everyone is welcome back to another episode of unspoken with Nick and Nick. Hello. That one hit hard. I know it did. I peaked for sure. That was that was going. That was something. Wasn't it? That was great. So how the heck is it going? Good, man. I'm so excited to be back. I know. I know. It's awesome. We talked about it for a while. Just before we started recording tonight, we were talking about some future plans and what we should start doing and make this baby grow. Absolutely. So I think there's going to reach more stuff. There's probably on each row for each person. There's probably between 15 and 20 hats. That's cool. And every you should do that in your room is awesome. Thankfully grateful. Yeah, we we are very thankful in the fact that we get to do this and we're really grateful for the the amount of people that listen to it on a regular basis. And I know that that's not like a seriously crazy amount. Maybe one day it'll be more and I'm hoping so of course, because we want to reach as many people as we can. But I feel like as we continue to do this we obviously continue to reach more people just because we we keep going and and the wives who are like, I mean, I guess go ahead. You guys like it. Yeah, they're they're behind it. It costs us nothing to do this. It's fun. It's just something we do. It helps us and it's good for our mental space. It is and we've we've touched on that a lot. The mental aspect of it is is probably. Not not just fulfilling but like it's payment to me. Yeah, it's like a form of payment. Well, and it's like I think about things like this a lot because we don't have a whole heck of a lot that we need to do for this. We just put out episodes and hope that the stuff that we say and the stuff that our guests say helps one person. Yeah, hopes a hundred people. I don't know. I don't know what that number is. I don't care what that number is. I want that to be. I just want people to feel comfortable. Yeah, I want people to be able to get get something out of it and be like, you know, I heard that I would love one day for somebody to say the things that I say to people and like, hey, I heard this thing on a podcast. It was really interesting. I heard this thing and I thought it was really actually just gave me goosebumps. Yeah, like really. And that's cool. And it's cool, right? Like, yeah, and it's more about how do we help period? How do we how do we know? Yeah, you know that that's more. That's more the aspect. I think that I'm coming from and I think way back when we started talking about this, you know, three years ago and we're not that far into it now. Yeah. It's like how how does this look right for real? You know, so it's cool to see where it's come. It's cool to see where it's going. And I think even more so as we continue down this road, like something could really help somebody one day. Yeah, that's what's really neat about it. And in the way that it helps us to because it makes it it forces us to learn. Yeah, like we learn the ins and outs of this but from others that come on. Yeah, that learning process, you know, it's not just us lending an ear for them to vent for them to talk about whatever we want them to talk about. It's it's like you they're also teaching me something and yeah, I would say for the most part since we started how to because I've always been a good listener, but how to when it's my turn to respond, it's taught me that that oh gosh, I guess not so much the reaction time but like wholeheartedly. What do I say in response to that? Right? Because I have this tendency you and I have talked about this is one of the main things that's really taught me to that. I really like I've never been one of those guys that wants to one up your story, right? But if I am if I'm relatable to that story, I will give you my one time that something like that happened. Some people might see that as I'm one. I'm trying to one up them when I'm truly not my heart in my heart. I'm not trying to do that, right? But it's just basically to form that common ground. It has slowed me down doing that, right? Wholeheartedly listen and listen to not respond. Yeah, listen, listen to gain information. Yeah, right. And I think I think one thing that I think this helps in general a lot with because one of the things that I'm a huge proponent of is we have to be able to talk to each other, not just like us, but just like in general in general society, especially things that we see out in the wild. Often, you know, it's like people just can't talk to each other anymore. No, like and I'm over generalizing. Of course, like yeah, this is like, you know, niche areas, but like if you disagree with somebody like automatically, it's like, oh, we're enemies now. That's just so not true. Like let's just talk and have a real conversation about this. Like if we stop communicating as a society, then problems happen. Yeah, like that's the big thing. So like if we could just be a spark, we talk about a thing, you know, you know, what's funny about you bringing that up is that's been a hot topic in my in the barbershop in my chair, right? Not from people sitting in the chair, but for me, I have found this new platform that I can stand on with the amount of people I see in the general public, right where I'm almost preaching to them like sure slow down, right? Throw politics out. When we I just said this today, in fact, to Tim, nice. I said, I don't love that guy. When when we're at the pearly gates, we're dead. Do you think the question is going to arise? What political party do you affiliate with? No, and what's sad is and I told him this to what sad is everything comes back to politics. Yeah, I hate it. Yeah, just be human. Yeah, listen to people. Chat with people. Yeah, not the how are you? But truly the how are you? Yeah, you know, hey man, you've seen down the past couple days or you've seen great the pet like what's up man? What's the change? What's going on? Well, yeah, man. And I think, you know, we talked about this before we got going. And of course, you knew about this way back when it happened. But, you know, I had my one of my best friends in the world, right? Like in for the longest time. It is been a little over 11 years. October 7th was 11 years. And there shortly after that after that 11 year anniversary, I got I got a phone call that his mom got into an accident past and that hit me like a brick wall because we I mean super close like we just been close for a long time and like the whole family, right? Like, you know, and I remember picking up the phone and being like, why are you calling me? Like you, you don't call me. You always text me. Why are you calling me? And his sister was like, well, like, what are you doing? I was like, I'm just playing with the kids. Like we're at this little play park or whatever brought the kids over here with the in-laws just hanging out, whatever. She's like, oh, well, I'll just call you back later. I was like, no, no, no, no, no, no, we're too far into this. I know something's wrong. What's wrong? And that's when she told me and I'm like just crushed by it like that was horrible. And then a couple of days later, I found out that another buddy had passed right around the same time as her as well. And I mean, it was just a bad is a bad 48 hours for me. Now I'm not good at I'm not good at handling those types of things by myself. Yeah, I don't like spiral out of control. I know that there are, of course, people that tend to have some things that they do that they I don't know if they claim that that helps them or they feel like that's their only answer or whatever that may be. Whether that's, you know, substances or whatever. Like, yeah, I'm not here to judge anyone by any means. It's just a matter of like I know that myself personally doesn't deal well with the emotional side of that. So I have to go talk to somebody about that and I urge anybody that has anything like that to go do that as well. But man, like it's hard. So stuff like this, like it's so miniscule in the long run. But like if there's one thing we could do that could stop those things from happening. Yeah, that would be incredible. That's that by itself is the biggest gift for me. And truthfully, I know you're in the same boat because you're you've been impacted by similar things before in the past. And I just think that as there's never going to be enough time. So we can't dwell on that, right? Like and I'm not like when those things happen. It sucks. Yep. It's not fun. It's not good. So being able to sit here and do this and hopefully reach people. Maybe those things will happen less power and numbers. Yeah. And just being able to talk to each other. Yep. There's no reason that you can't just have that conversation. Yeah, because the way I look at it is you voicing that to me in my presence. Now you've divided your stress in your. Yeah, man. You've divided the hurt in two. Yeah, because now I can feel it. Yeah, I can help compartmentalize maybe give you advice. Maybe just be an ear. Maybe just sit here and look at somebody. Maybe that's all I need. Yeah, but but when you can reach more people through a podcast and let's say there's a thousand people listening. Yep. Now you can divide it by a thousand, right? So I look at it as power and numbers. Not necessarily that others will wholeheartedly like mourn for you, but now you're it's out. Yeah, and you've told a thousand people you can kind of sit back and you got it off your chest. You were able to say what you needed to say, and that's why it's so important to have a village, right? And I wish I wish the whole world could just be a village for everybody. And I know I'm speaking, you know. Utopian here, but with this one thing, I wish we could be like truly you don't know what anybody else is going through. And that's what's been so great about this is the reach, right? You can reach and I'm thankful for that. I think it's great. And I know we keep going back to this thankful and grateful thing and it's it's coming up, man. Yeah, thanksgiving is coming up and I'm so stoked. I'm so excited for it. And yeah, we it's it's time to release at the time of this coming out. It will have been yesterday. Yeah. Yeah. So right. Yeah, it will have been yesterday, but everything's giving yesterday. Yeah. Happy Thanksgiving yesterday. Yeah, I probably just time stamped us there, but whatever it doesn't matter. We should be that way every day. Yeah. And thankfully this version of me today. I am like that every day. Right. And it's hard. It takes time to get there. Yeah, it does. Yeah, it takes a lot. It's tiring. Yeah, you know, and I'm not perfect. No, there are days I'm like I get stressed out and I'm like, why me? And then I go, well, wait a minute. Hold on same same same. Your problems are pretty good nowadays. Yeah, you know, there's nothing that's been brought on by anything other than you. Right. So yeah, exactly. And a lot of that too. And I mean, I would say. I'm a pretty happy, pretty positive person and I would say you're the same. Yep. But that does not mean we're not immune. Things don't happen that make us sad or that things that just kind of trigger us in other ways. Right. And I, you know, I always go back to it. And this is not, I'm not in this boat. Like, I'm not saying that by any means. I'm simply saying that it is a very common thing. Yeah. That some of the happiest, some of the funniest, some of the most enjoyable people to be around are also some of the most impacted by like sadness and depression. Yep. And it's important to just talk about it. And I don't want to like go down that road and like, you know, I'm just pointing it out. I was that guy. Yeah, right. We've talked about that. But that's an important aspect for this. So hoping that, you know, we can reach those people and be even better as we continue to get further down that road. So one day, I hope this helps and we'll see you in one person that would make it all worth it. One hundred percent. So, yeah, man. Very, very cool. So, wild. It is wild. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I am, I'm so excited for what this season is going to bring, man. I just keep going back to that. I know it's like every time you and I get together, it's like, this season, this season. Yeah. I'm so, but, what, once it starts, the waterfall kind of. Oh, man. When the levy breaks. It already has been fun. But you know, you find we've been finding that stride and that's one thing that I'm really grateful for is being able to find the stride and doing this because you, you're not new to this. Right. I was totally new. I still am new. But you've been patient. So I'm thankful for that. But you've never cracked a whip either, though. You're just like, dude, just do your thing, man. Just talk. You talk all day. We do what we do. So I think this was going to work out a long time ago and we talked about it, right? Like, you know, we talked about this a long time ago. A long time ago. And it was like, OK, we can, first of all, we know we can riffle each other well, which makes a huge good balance. Right. But then on top of that, it's like, all right, we both have some kind of actual good story to tell. Yeah. Which is a bonus. And then being able to pull people, like, out of their houses is a bonus. Yeah. So I agree. I agree. At the forefront is always a big bonus. And to be able to do this in a house and yeah, we get interrupted by kids and my wife dropping something upstairs in season one, the dog running in and things over. And that's what's been a lot of fun is to keep it real like the real life has been fun. Just is what it is. And that's the whole point. We're not a studio. We're not. We're right here. And let's say we are. Let's say one day with that is the case, right? Yeah. One day we're in a studio and we're doing this and it's as professionally done as it could possibly be. That's not going to change the effect like it has to be a real thing. Whatever happens, happens, you know, as like the other day I was running a big meeting with like the whole team and everything was going wrong. Yeah. That could go wrong was going wrong. Full on Murphy's Law. And I, I was just kind of, you know, like making jokes and just like getting through it, whatever, you know, it's like a 30 minute call. Like it's not that big a deal, but there's like 80 people. Yeah. So it was like, it was big enough to be like, OK, this is impactful if this sucks. So I got through it and you know, my boss comes over and he's like, man, like the fact that you were able to just like let it roll off of you and go and just exist and it's cool. Like that probably was as good as any of the content because people could just be OK with it. Right. I was like, man, it's just not a big deal. It just isn't. It doesn't have to be. I could have made it a big deal. Yeah. I could have been grumpy about it and like it could have been. So in the Marine Corps, we called that military bearing. Yeah. You kept your bearing. Yeah. Right. She's got to roll. Roll, baby. You know, I did what I could. I fixed what I could on the fly as I could, as I could go through it. That does suck though when that happens. Well, and it's, and I'm, you know, a tech guy tech people and they're like, turn it off. Turn it. That would have been me. You know, unplug it. Unplug it. Yeah. This guy can't do anything. Does it have a reset button? Yeah. Do you know anything about tech? I mean, the peanut gallery was just going nuts, which I, I appreciate because that's just like a room full of like buddies. Right. At that point, you know. But man, it was just everything was going freaking wrong. But it's just that's the point is like, let's just be real. Yep. Right. I'm not about, I think that's kind of the part that I talked about so much like with like the, the Instagrams and the Facebooks and the whatever social media you choose to use. Right. Yeah. I am not on the, I'm not on the side of like the highlight reel. Like I'm on the side of like everything gets put into the production. Yeah. Right. Like I'm all for like, my settings doesn't really exist in this. And same thing with like I, I don't genuinely post a lot in general, like on my own social medias. So I'm like, whatever. I don't care because I'm not, I'm not here to like, and I'm not knocking anybody that does. Like this is, I'm just stating a fact that I personally don't necessarily pick up and put things online because I think like, this is such a huge moment. It's like, I just want all moments to be cool. Yeah, right. I mean, yeah, of course I post stuff and I don't need the world Yeah, some things if I want to say something I'll just say it right. Oh, yeah again, like you said I'm not putting down people who do some people know the only outlet they have and that's totally that's and that's cool Totally warranted. Yeah, I have I have people I'm friends with who that's what they have and that's that's rad There's nothing wrong with that exactly and I will love it. I will like it I will cuz I know that that's what they need and well, yeah, and that's cool Well and some people I know for a fact like some people Professionally do some of this. Yeah for real. Yeah, I got a buddy He's like he relies on right stuff that happens online, right? And that's awesome So like he you know, I could text for him. Hey, can you check this out? Like I would love to more so than I am. It's just hard Like it's just a season right now. It's just hard. But um, you know, the reality is it's like Like I'll support you in whatever way I can you're right. Absolutely like yeah that that I will do any time You don't have to ask I'm always gonna like it anyway when it pops up But if you do ask me like I'll do whatever that is. Yeah, let's do that Yeah, so, you know being supportive of people just being being in that front is I think important and I mean I'm I'm type person too and I really say things like this a lot a lot of my groups and stuff And I think you're in the same boat is like it's not necessarily about just blindly supporting things just because it's like I like the people that I'm friends with and like all that stuff like they're doing things That I think are cool or important or valuable. Yeah anything else and that's not to say that other people are not That's not the case at all. It's just stating that There is some cringy things. Uh-huh. Absolutely and that's you know, yeah I just I've been running into this like this video. I'll call it. I'll call it a meme video for you know all intents and purposes of like people randomly walking into like a hotel or something or like a like touring like an apartment building or something and then they like turn their camera on and they're like I Made four hundred million dollars this year. Yeah, you can too. It's just like hilarious. Oh my gosh I know they're out there. They up so and that's just funny to me at this point, but yeah, man I think that this season is I think that this season is the big break season of turning things kind of up a notch For us because we learned in season one. Yeah, and now we implement in season two In season three or let's say we don't go to season three and we just keep going Yeah, that's when it really starts growing. Yeah, right, you know, right? That's that's what I'm most excited for is how I'm excited for The impact yeah, absolutely. That's what I'm so excited for that. Yeah, I think that's like the main thing I know that's what you are too And I know I know that's what a lot of the people in our corner right now are like, yeah You've already started it, you know that the impact and I've had I've had numerous guys That come into the barbershop talk about this podcast. Yeah, like I just love that you guys burrow out Yeah, and then other ones are like I love that you brought and you're actually like talking about life Yeah, just do like who does that? I just let it fly nobody nobody and that's not to say that people really don't talk about right But we're intentionally pointing it out. Yeah, right, right I want to talk to you about the things that we don't get to talk about regularly. I brought up just the other day It's so funny how we evolved in one short season. We went from we straight up when we first started we were going to go after Talking to athletes That was the original idea Right, and then I remember one night thinking when I probably should have been sleeping Everybody's competitive. Yeah, it doesn't matter how you're competitive Yeah, we need that and then we realized Well now we can bring on people who might not be competitive but yearning for change Yeah, that's a competition to me with yourself, right? Like or like the one of the things I remember we had a conversation about this. It was like We were talking about bringing somebody on that didn't have any Like real like struggle through athletics didn't have a big struggle in like their career They were just really good at it and then they were able to continue doing that but they didn't really have like a Like a thing that like super set them apart, right? It was like they're just really good at this like that's cool But we were just talking about that and I don't want to name names or anything, but like we were talking about how That is all the stuff that makes this person perfect for coming on the show Yeah, and it also puts them in a position to be a really really impactful episode as well because they're They're the every person. Yeah, like they're they're people that are out there like putting in the time. They're grinding They're taking care of business. They're doing whatever they need to do at home They're doing whatever they need you out in the wild like all those things. That's what it's about like yeah, it's about being you and that there's there's the behind the closed doors you that You whether you want to talk about it or not right up to you But if you don't choose to do that, that's your call If you do choose to do that and let it out we welcome it and we don't judge about it No, just talking about it, right? like this is an open door to whatever you want to talk about and I think that that's where we we started to realize like This is for everyone. Yeah, there is no one not accepted here And if you don't feel that here that then you chose to not Right like yeah, like and of course like we're I Am not naive enough to believe that everything we do and everything we say and everything that we will act like is Everybody's cup of tea, right? That's cool. Right? That's okay. Hey, it's it's like I say if all days are great No days are great, right? It's the same concept, right? Like everything was perfect. Then nothing is perfect. So It's just part of it. I think we just have to keep going after that letting people know that there's We're opening the door for impactful conversation, that's it first and foremost everything else will come as it does And all the humor. Yeah, heck. Yeah, I have to handle all for that. Well, yeah, it's just part of it I used to I used to be that guy like you were talking about that Yeah, you had to look out for the humorous guy cuz he's a one's probably always sad and depressed They used to be me now. I just think I'm funny. So It's just like anything else if you don't think you're funny who else is gonna think exactly I I'll say that all the time to my wife, you know, I say I'm just like hey, I think I'm hilarious Yeah, I'm a child dude. My wife has another child. Yep, and he's 43 years old Oh, dude all the time my wife teaches first grade and she deals with you know 23 little graders all day and gets to come home to another first grader exactly win-win. Yep. Yeah, it's changed over the years I remember and I think that this is just like the nostalgia of things like my mom used to make this like broccoli Cheese rice casserole thing. Yeah, and I was all on board for that. I still am my mom Just doesn't make it as much which is a bummer So I try and get that every year probably my top I know yeah, yeah, right so that's probably my top thing. I Am a total like I am all on board like fanboy for like the The sweet potatoes with the marshmallows on top probably because I love marshmallows and not so much because I love sweet potatoes But I do love sweet potato, but man 100% like a toasty marshmallow. It's not really like a Thanksgiving food, but like hell Yeah, that one's up there, and I think as I've gotten older. I'm just out on turkey Okay, I am too man like I'll eat it sir I'll eat a little bit, but like I'm not like a big like gravy person Yeah, so like if I have to just like dump a ton of gravy on my turkey to eat it I don't want to do that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I've I've Turkeys weird I used to be a big turkey guy. Yeah My wife's twice baked potatoes man, oh My god, I live twice big I live for those. Why is all our favorite things starches? So good man straight to the hip from the lips to the hip. Yeah, that's it. That's it. Go work out girl That's right, man. Dude. Yes, I agree. They're so good. So then like what are you just out on? Like what is something that shows up at every like family? Let's just say every family holiday or whatever not even necessarily Thanksgiving that you're just like not I'm just not in on It's turkey. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. We don't have a lot of turkey other than Thanksgiving turkeys I know I might feel differently about turkey if I did like like us like if I had like a smoker Right like I might feel differently about it if there was like different ways that we've done in the past We've all just cooking the oven. That's totally fine I just somehow always ends up dry to me. My uncle one year did a beer can turkey. Yeah, that was pretty good Yeah, you just put the whole like you open the beer and then you put it in the turkey I always wanted to try the turducken. I'll bet that's good. I bet that's good I suck is greasy different things and it's fatty and it is. Oh, yeah, dude I've used a light griddle before I've used like the duck fat spray. Yeah. Yeah Wow I yeah, I almost blacked out and then I had to meet Jesus that night. That's good stuff Yeah, it's tasty. Yeah, I think out on the man. I don't know I think I think it would just be the turkey that I'm out on everything else is on my plate Yeah, and I would agree with that. I don't do the I'm not really in on like the They call it like like the dressing like the cranberry so oh I'm not in on that Yeah, and I'm and I'm it's it's not even that I don't like it I'm just I know that I'm not gonna enjoy it in the way. Yeah, it's a texture thing for me. I can't do it Yeah, I just I think I don't do it. I I actually don't mind the flavor truthfully. But yeah, I'm just like yeah This is just it's in my way. It's blocking all Yeah, yeah, that's that's a totally I am excited for it though my favorite thing If we just talk about the the holiday real quick. Oh, yeah My favorite it's so funny how life comes full circle, right? Yeah, you're a kid You're we would go to my great-grandma's house and there'd be 50 people. I swear to you in this 800 square foot house yep, and I'd be so bored. I'm like, what am I doing here? Why when can we go? Why do I have to be here? Yes, and all the people are sitting around chatting. How is this fun? What am I doing now? That's the only chatting dude. I love that Well, it's exactly like we talked about I don't like I said, I'm not gonna get too sappy on this But this is exactly what I said like now I realized so much more that it's not about the things I'm doing It's about who I'm doing them with yeah and I I it took me a long time to realize that and I and I hope that people realize that bigger than I Did because I now realize that after it's too late Like it makes me really sad to talk about. Yeah talk about too far, but it's just too close to home right now yep, but you know the Like the reality of like man, I just I I love being around you. Yeah, you're awesome Like I'll call out Johnny like, you know, he was on he was on the last episode of season one. I freaking love that guy and I Will talk to him for way too long at all the events and it's because we just get along Well, and it's fun and that's not to say I don't get along with everybody else I just have a great time chatting and just yes, right? Like so that's awesome and and everybody else as well Like we we get to hang out all the time like I hang out with my in-laws and the family and everybody Yeah, that's awesome to me. Yeah Because I'm just with everybody. Yeah, it doesn't necessarily need to be doing something specific But when I was a kid, I was the total opposite right we got to be doing something We have right go through the football. Let's go play cards. Let's go do something, right? It's not That is just the cycle of life it is it's so wild Yeah, me too cuz that's one of my favorite parts is Cuz we host sure and having having this house full right No drama just no BS. Just fun eating just gluttonous adventure the things and then we all just sit around and you'll have a Couple people over there talking a couple people over here. Yes, I'm over here with whoever and then it's like this cycle It's like, okay. Well, we're done. I'll go over to that group now and then everybody just kind of funnels around around It's like yeah speed dating but conversationally. Oh, yeah, dude And Katie's brother flies into town with his wife and kids and oh my gosh, they're a joy to be around Yeah, yeah, I they're great people man. I mean I have fun. I have His wife saved in my phone as sis Dailin She my sis man is awesome. I don't even I don't even call her Megan See dude, that's just what it's all about, you know, yeah, it's just it's just fun to be around It's so much fun man. It's a good time. It's it's one of my favorites. It is my favorite holiday. I love it I'm all for I'm all for all of it I don't know I mean Halloween's my favorite because we just get to have fun and decorate and yeah You know, you don't decorate for the holidays That's just what we we kick up and it's just a ton of fun and I'm at the fun age with my kids. Yeah They're all jazzed about it. Yeah, that's a lot of fun. Although I got snubbed man. We were we were out putting We just had like a handful of skeletons out front this year. Yeah, we went to put them away My three-year-old she's hilarious man. She she wants to go out and help me So we've got these two little ones cuz we've got two little kids Yep, we've got the two big ones. Yep. Yep. And You know, we just kind of landed on that and it all was because of how we Announced when we were originally pregnant with with our three-year-old, right? So we We announced with like it was right around the time of Halloween. So we announced with two skeletons and then a Cauldron Like the smoke coming out of it and it said we were brewing up something new may 2022 do that's cool And it was pretty neat, right? So, you know, we've always been big in Halloween So I'm I we go get that good skeletons and we walk inside and it was just like, okay, I'm done She's just like yeah, here you go. I don't want it work. We're inside now. So I'm done with them I was like, well, what the heck we got to take him to the basement. She's like, mmm I don't think I want to do that like I Was like trying to bribe her I was like well you we can go get the cookie that you were talking about out Of the car, but only if you help me take him downstairs, she's like Okay, you take him downstairs. I'll go get the cookie and then we'll meet in the middle. That's like you're Negotiating with he Opulous. What have I created? So yeah, I was dealing with that. Yeah, but that was funny So so we made it work. Okay, man, dude holidays are good time Yeah, there's good time a lot of cool people you get to hang out with a lot of people you could do things stuff as it's all about and Like we were talking about too before we came on a lot of a lot of times holidays can be a tough time for people Right and they can I think I challenge you to talk to somebody Yes, and and I'm not telling you go get professional help but find somebody find a friend. Mm-hmm find another family member. Yeah Confide in them tell them it's tough for you and that's okay. That's okay. It shows strength. Okay to show you're hurting It's also just it's just real. Yeah, I Lost my grandma two years ago the day after Thanksgiving and sucks it sucks and that day will I mean I will forever smell her House and I have pieces of her in my house. Yeah But it's not obviously not the same. I mean I look at it and I do smile about it Yeah, cuz it's great on my grandma's a firecracker and I miss I miss her fire man She's tough fiery lady. She was a tough girl. I Could do no wrong Everybody in that family could do wrong. I could not we were homies. That's awesome. So I lost my homie Yeah, you know, I mean that's hard. There was a year. I got I do want to say this one funny thing about her there was this year we Kate what Katie does is she puts together these calendars for Christmas and that's what she would send to grandparents and sure great grandparents for the boys and so I would always what she does is she Orders them up from like shutter flyer. Oh sure. Yeah, and then I'll wrap them and then I will mail them out So we kind of split the duty up with especially with our Christmas cards Yeah, she'll put them together. They show up sure I help address them, but then I take them and I mail them out Yeah, so with my grandma's I always put something special on it like Like one year I put badass lady calm and then her address and then this one year It was it was three years ago. I think four years ago. I put coolest lady on the planet and The postmaster now this shows what small how small of a town she lives in right like it's illegal to withhold mail, right? the postmaster Wouldn't put it in for delivery because he personally wanted to take it to see who the coolest lady on earth was That's awesome. So he hand delivered it to her house. That's awesome And and she she oh did some somebody mess up the mail or yeah, no, ma'am I just wouldn't let this go out today with your mail lady because I had to see who the coolest lady on earth was No, I had I had to know that's awesome. And she got it. She was oh, it's my grandson She knew every year whatever I wrote that it was from me that's all yeah, it was that's awesome It was cool, man. So I'll miss that stuff, you know, but but also find the joy and oh, yeah It's hard. It's hard now like now. Yeah easy it it's easier. I'll say it's not easy, but yeah, it's it's not like it was Yeah, but yeah, I and that woman doesn't want me moping. Yeah, I could mope. Oh, yeah She what's here? Oh Man yeah, so I've got one that we do it's it's not like a Thanksgiving sure thing. It's a Christmas thing Well, actually both of them are. Yep The one thing that we do I don't care how old my boys get When we are done with church on Christmas Eve when we're done with church when we're done Hanging out with with her family at the house We come back we get on the couch and I read to us the night before Christmas. Oh, I love that How old they get I'm doing yeah, I love and we read the whole book and Usually by the end of it the boys are both into it at that point But at first at their ages, it's like pulling teeth right now But yeah, they get into it and and I think they're they realize like this is actually kind of cool Yeah, my dad's still doing this and we're 13 and 11. Yeah, it's cool Yeah, the one thing I wish we did I would also need a time machine. We never did this I want to go back to these days, but also Kind of wish that I had carried it on and I didn't every single night And I guarantee you I'm gonna bring a tear to my parents eyes when I tell this story Yeah, every single Christmas Eve after we did church and we hosted a Christmas Eve thing with my with my dad's side of the family Sure, my parents would take us out in the car and we would look for Rudolph's nose. Nice And I it felt like hours to me. We were driving around. Yeah, is that it? Yeah, is that it? No, is that it? No, and then all of a sudden my mom would yell out or my dad there it is duck So we would duck and they would hightail it back home. Yeah, and my sister and I'd be like, oh my gosh. He's coming We saw it. It's coming. It's coming. That's hilarious. And then we could hardly go to sleep Yeah, we'd wake up and be like, yeah, we saw it. Yeah, and we'd high-five exactly. Oh my gosh, man That was so great. I love that dude. I love that And I think that I don't know that we had like a bunch of big traditions or anything like that That would have been that have been fun. We didn't really have a whole lot like that. That was too crazy We did like on Thanksgiving. We would play football a lot. We were just crazy as hell Yeah, and we we didn't do that. We never did the football thing I was always down for like doing any kind of like let's go play something But we play catch a lot if the weather's good the boys and I'll go my family's huge huge huge into cards Play a lot of car. It's amazing But for Thanksgiving Apple yeah So alright, so my wife's family They just make killer Pies and desserts and everything all the time but like they're big Apple people So we get apple pie a lot throughout the year More like apple dump cake or yeah, you know all this stuff, right? So by the time we get to the holidays like of Thanksgiving or Christmas or whatever, you know We're like well, let's let's make something else. Yeah, so and I'm I love cherry pie. Oh cherry pie is good, man But I have been asking and it just I'll tell you it just Chaps my ass is what I'll say. I cannot anybody to make a peach cobbler and I Don't know what I'm doing in a kitchen. Well enough to do that Katie all right. Yeah You ever had a buck eyeball their peanut butter dipped in chocolate I don't know what they're called here, but in Buckeye balls, which is funny because we can't stand Ohio State in Michigan, but we call them Buckeye balls You eat them up. We eat them. Just tear them up. Oh, dude. They're so good. Oh, yeah I'm the I'm on the dipping committee every year. Oh, I have to dip all of the all of the Chocolate onto those. Yeah, nice Yep. It has to be We know I have a really good sugar cookie recipe. So i'll i'll definitely contribute contribute that It's my dad's favorite sugar cookies. You got to have a little bit of almond extract See my dad will tear up a sugar cookie. Oh, yeah Yeah, i'll tear it up, but he just wants sprinkles on top just the sprinkling no frosting. No frosting. No kidding. Yep He's an og. Oh, yeah All right, he'll turn them up It's actually really funny because he would give my mom shit all the time about not making them She's like I just don't feel like I make them that good It was like not not there's like no no disheartening, right? Yeah, she's like I just don't feel like they're that good like when I make them So it feels like it's a lot of work for nothing because they don't tear it out great and he's like i'll still eat Them they're great. I'll eat them. Yeah, so so there was always kind of like a lull there But then my mother-in-law found out about that So she just makes tons of sugar cookies and now and look at how to make them great So she makes them. It's just perfect works out works out. So my dad gets awesome sugar cookies. I get awesome sugar cookies, dude I'm we're on this is gonna happen. Let's do it. Yep. Let's do it. I'm down with it now.
