Hello and welcome to the Bringing Up Business podcast. My name is Kayla Sashay, your host, and my mission is to bring up the topics of business and parenting every week. Our guests will share their parenting and business experience with you to help you gain a better understanding of what it takes to make it all work or at least enjoy the ride. A little about me. I am a mom of a toddler.

Degree graphic designer, and I have been self-employed since 2016. I own a marketing and design agency called Umari Digital, and I also run a couple of other ventures with my husband. Before self-employment, I worked full-time as a graphic designer, then quickly gained a great skill set in marketing, accounts receivable, shipping, customer service, and more. I was wearing many hats. I quickly realized that I loved it.

and I wanted to dive into the world of business. So I took the plunge into freelancing. Some of my client deals were flops, but most of them have succeeded and even turned into referrals. Business grew and I realized that I needed help. That's when I established a design and marketing agency in 2022. However, a month after starting the agency, I found out I was pregnant. With the clock ticking,

I very quickly had to learn how to raise a business and a kid. With very few podcasts that cover both topics of parenting and business, I found myself having to piece things together. I was overwhelmed and scared. I told myself that when my baby was a newborn, I was going to start a show that could help parents who are also navigating the world of business. And well, here we are.
