Welcome to the Daily Blade . The Word of God is described as the sword of the Spirit , the primary spiritual weapon in the Christian's armor against the forces of evil . Your hosts are Joby Martin and Kyle Thompson , and they stand ready to equip men for the fight . Let's sharpen up .
Grace , mmm , how sweet the sound of grace . One of my hopes and one of my passions is , not only as a pastor but as a disciple of Jesus is that grace would not simply be an abstract theological word in the dusty caverns of our minds , but the grace would be King Jesus himself , but the grace would be King Jesus himself . For John 1.14 says and we beheld him full of grace and truth .
Yes , it's true that grace is indeed the unearned , the unmerited , the unworked for gift of God . Grace is a person and his name is Jesus . Grace is God's righteousness at Christ's expense . Grace is God and Christ being for us , what we could never be and do . Grace is not simply God saying hey , I forgive you . Oh , it's so much more . Not only does he throw our sins into the sea of God's forgotten memory , he takes our sins away . But then grace gives us something too . Grace says you are holy and blameless . Holy means sacred , that you're set apart , that the blood of Christ , that you are owned by him , that you belong to him . You are sacred , you are holy , you are his beloved . Grace says that not only you're holy and blameless , not only are you his beloved , but that you are as righteous as Jesus . That that's your position in Christ . And grace says that as you trust me by the faith that brought you to my heart , that same faith will grow you to reflect my heart . Grace says you are my bride and I cherish you . Grace says you are my temple and I indwell you . Grace says you are my body and I empower you . Grace says I love you and I will never not love you .
Speaker 2On August 2nd 1997 , I had my grace awakening After five years in the National Football League , where my whole life was defined on how fast are you ? How tall are you ? How big are you ? How strong are you ? How well did you play ? How good did you do your job ? It was utterly exhausting . I was striving , and the more I accomplished , the more I saw that my accomplishments could never , ever meet my deepest need . My deepest need was love . Your deepest need was love .
Speaker 2And so often we project onto God what we believe he's like . We think he's like people who say I love you
if I love you , if I love you if you can , I love you if you do . Our God is not a transactional God , he's a transformational God . He's a God who says I have loved you before time ever began . And my love for you is not predicated upon what you do or don't do . I am love , I am grace . And when he lived a sinless life for us , it's grace . When he died on the cross in our place , it's grace . When he rose from the dead to be seated at the right hand of the Father and to send the Holy Spirit , it's grace , it's God's righteousness at Christ's expense . It's God doing for us and being for us what we could never do . You see , jesus gave his life for us , to give his life to us , to live his life through us . That's grace and friend , you are a trophy of grace . Live in grace . This is Pastor Derwin Gray Marinate on that .
