Story of Lucy's Beautiful Welcome

Speaker 4

.

Speaker 2

There was a time when my Lucy , who's now about to turn 15 , she was like three , maybe two she came out like Rapunzel . She did Like a whole bunch of blonde hair that was just all of a sudden , you know , down to her knees and it seemed like it was just like boom , like a year , you know . So she was like maybe two and a half and these bright blue eyes and she was starting to get a couple freckles on the nose . I mean , it just was like you are the most perfect .

Speaker 2

And there was a season I'm talking a long season where every time I came home and when I mean when I come home , I'm not talking just like from the airport , you know , gone for two days , I mean every time I opened the back door , went to the gas station , came back , she had her ear tuned to that backdoor and I would open the backdoor and she would kind of sprint around you know , we had this little little kind of ghetto four-year thing and she would sprint around , her hair would go to the side and she would just form , tackle me , you know , and she would . I would bend down and she would grab my face and she would look at me and she would say you're a beautiful man and you came for me .

Speaker 2

And I'll never forget that . I mean , it was a good season of that of like . You are the most beautiful man and you came for me , and that's what I feel about when I sing . This song is there is a song that was written a long time ago to be a love song to the king . It's actually literally a wedding song to the king . That's what it says in the header and this , if you just read all of song , I'm gonna read a little bit of it , but if you read all of it , there's no human king that can measure up to this description , and so it's just so neat . And then E's gonna read

Reading Psalm 45 and Spurgeon

Speaker 2

some Spurgeon , which is going to be really good , and so let me just start by reading Psalm 45 , the first two verses . My heart overflows with a pleasing theme . I address my verses to the king . My tongue is like a pen of a ready scribe . You are the most handsome of the sons of men . Grace is poured upon your lips . Therefore , god has blessed you forever .

Speaker 3

Oh man , oh man , all right , we're talking about wedding kind of stuff . So you got to go . And yesterday I was reading , I do a Charles Spurgeon thing , and yesterday we were in Song of Solomon and it says the verse is Song of Solomon 513 . And it's his cheeks are as a bed of spices , as sweet as flowers . And then he just writes this thing . I'm just going to read it , yeah just read it , I'm just going to read it .

Speaker 2

You just read it and we were all kind of messed up . Yeah , I kind of started crying again .

Speaker 3

That's why you're reading it again , yeah , anyway . But we long for our hearts to be affectionate for the Lord in this way , so let this sink in . Oh Lord , jesus , I will find my dearest delight in praising thee . Those cheeks were furrowed by the plow of grief and crimsoned with red lines of blood from thy thorn-crowned temples . Such marks of love unbounded cannot but charm my soul , far more than pillars of perfume . If I may not see the whole of his face , I would behold his cheeks , for the least glimpse of him is exceedingly refreshing to my spiritual sense and yields a variety of delights .

Speaker 3

In Jesus I find not only fragrance but a bed of spices , not one flower but all manner of sweet flowers . He is to me my rose and my lily , my heart's ease and my cluster of camphor . When he is with me , it is May all year round , and my soul goes forth to wash her face in the morning dew of his grace and to solace herself with the singing of the birds of his promises . Precious Lord Jesus , let me , in very deed , know the blessedness which dwells in abiding , unbroken fellowship with thee . I am a poor , worthless one whose cheek thou hast designed to kiss .

Speaker 2

Oh , let me kiss you in return , with the kisses of my lips sing together . My heart bursts at its banks .

Speaker 4

My heart burst at its banks with beauty and goodness . I pour it out as a song to my King , shaping the rivers into words . What grace pours from your lips pours from your lips . The sound calls the midnight to morning . The melody turns my winter to spring . I echo it now in my words . I echo it now in my words

Worship Song: Ten Thousand Strong

Speaker 4

Ten thousand strong , you're the fairest of all , fairest in heaven and earth .

Speaker 4

Of the children of men , you're the fairest of them , fairest in heaven and earth . Your heart bursts at the seams , flowing with blood and with water , a song of love pouring out from the tree , singing for the joy set before me . For the joy set before me , ten thousand strong , you're the fairest of all , fairest in heaven and earth . Of the children of men , you're the fairest of them , fairest in heaven and earth . You ransomed your bride On the day that you died , ascended to heaven in glory . She stands clothed in white , with her head lifted high . Come and return in your glory . You ransomed your bride on the day that you died , ascended to heaven in glory . We stand cold and white , with our voice lifted high , singing come and return in your glory . Oh , oh , oh , oh , oh , oh , oh , oh , oh , oh , oh , oh , oh , oh oh . Ten thousand strong , you're the fairest of all , fairest in heaven and earth . Of the children and men , you're the fairest of them . Fairest in heaven and earth .

Speaker 2

We say that you are worthy of all of our praise . You , oh most glorious one , king of heaven , king of earth , creator of all things , the one in whom all things were created , the one who loves us and gave himself for us . King Jesus , we sing a love song to you today for your worth . We sing a love song to you today for your worth , and I pray that your value would be known in our lives . Your worth , your worthiness would be felt and known in our lives . Use this time of singing when we come together to fan our affection for you . For all others , lord are a waste . For you , for all others , lord are a waste .

Speaker 2

And so I pray that you would pour water today on that seed of faith in our friends out and about today , our brothers and sisters , and that it would grow into a song of love for you . And we pray this in no ordinary name , but the name

Closing Prayer and Farewell

Speaker 2

that's above every name . In Jesus' name , we pray Amen , amen , amen . Thanks for singing , guys , come on . Brother , sister , friend , thank you so much for joining us today . He came for you , the beautiful man came for you , and you can sing that beautiful song to him over and over again , maybe rewind it , maybe send it to somebody who needs to sing a song to Jesus today , but nonetheless , we just ask that you would bring that beautiful singing voice back tomorrow and we're going to see what God does in our hearts . Have an awesome day of worship .
