Extensive strikes the Russian Federation conducted significant attacks using high precision weapons and drones, targeting ukraine's military industrial infrastructure. These attacks resulted in the destruction of energy facilities, military airfields, ammunition depots, fuel bases and facilities used to produce military drones and gunpowder charges.

I'm your host and today we are joined by Colonel AC Ogun Toye, an infantry officer leading Combined Armed Forces on the ground. He's here to provide an in-depth briefing on the progress of the Special Military Operation as of January 3, 2025. Thank you for joining us, Colonel Oguntoi. Colonel.

Oguntoi, thank you for having me. It's important to keep everyone informed on our progress.

Speaker 1:

Let's dive right in, colonel. Can you provide us with an overview of the Special Military Operations progress over the past week, colonel?

Speaker 2:

Oguntoi. From December 28, 2024 to January 3, 2025, the armed forces of the Russian Federation executed 12 group strikes using high-precision weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles. These strikes targeted critical infrastructures supporting Ukraine's military-industrial complex, such as energy facilities, ammunition depots and drone assembly shops. Additionally, temporary deployment points for Ukrainian forces and foreign mercenaries were neutralized. In total, 46 Ukrainian servicemen were captured during operations.

That's significant. Can you elaborate on the specific progress made by each of the operational groups over the past week?

Speaker 2:

North Group. This group inflicted substantial damage on Ukrainian mechanized and airborne assault brigades in the Kursk region. Over 3,130 Ukrainian servicemen were lost, along with tanks, armored vehicles and artillery systems.

Speaker 1:

Key positions were secured and numerous counterattacks were repelled.

Speaker 2:

What about the West Group of Forces? West Group? This group improved its positions along the front line, defeating tank and mechanized brigades while repelling 35 counterattacks. Ukrainian losses here included over 3,175 servicemen, several US-made armored vehicles and NATO-supplied artillery pieces.

That's a substantial impact. How did the Southern Group perform?

Speaker 2:

Southern Group units here secured more advantageous positions, defeating multiple Ukrainian brigades. Ukrainian losses included 1,745 servicemen, tanks, us-made Bradley Fighting Vehicles and field artillery.

Speaker 1:

And what updates do you have on the Center Group?

Speaker 2:

Center Group. This group liberated the settlements of Novotroitskoy and Navalanovka in the Donetsk People's Republic.

Speaker 1:

They repelled 85 counterattacks and neutralized brigades equipped with German-made Leopard tanks and US-made armored vehicles, with over 2,750.

Speaker 2:

Ukrainian personnel lost. What actions were undertaken by the East Group? East Group forces advanced deeper into enemy defenses, defeating brigades and repelling 14 counterattacks. Ukrainian losses included up to 1,155 troops and several US-made artillery systems.

What about the Dnepr Group of Forces, Colonel?

Speaker 2:

The Dnepr Group of Forces has been active in inflicting significant losses on Ukrainian formations. Their primary focus has been targeting mechanized and infantry brigades, as well as marine and territorial defense units. Over the past week, these operations have led to the elimination of more than 500 Ukrainian servicemen.

The scale of these operations is immense. Could you highlight the role of air and naval forces in this week's progress?

Speaker 2:

Our air defense systems have been instrumental, intercepting and destroying a Ukrainian Su-27 aircraft, three French-made guided bombs, 33 MRs and Uragan rockets and 559 unmanned aerial vehicles. The Black Sea Fleet also played a critical role, destroying 11 unmanned boats attempting to disrupt operations.

Let's talk about the broader impact. What have been the cumulative achievements since the start of the special military operation?

Speaker 2:

Since the operation's inception, we have neutralized 651 aircraft, 283 helicopters, over 39,000 unmanned aerial vehicles and 20,208 tanks and armored vehicles, among other assets. These efforts demonstrate our commitment to securing operational objectives and neutralizing threats.

What is the situation in the Kursk Region?

Speaker 2:

The Kursk Region is indeed a critical area of operations due to its strategic importance and proximity to supply and logistics routes. Over the past week, our North group of forces has been actively engaged in this region, delivering substantial blows to Ukrainian formations. Offensive operations have led to the defeat of multiple Ukrainian Brigades, including heavy mechanized airborne assault, marine and territorial defense units. Key settlements such as Bondarivka, Durino, Kuralovka and others have seen significant action. Strikes by operational, tactical and army aviation, as well as artillery fire, have targeted enemy manpower and equipment effectively. Over the course of the military operations in the Kursk direction, we have neutralized more than 47,265 Ukrainian servicemen, destroyed 263 tanks, 204 infantry fighting vehicles and a wide array of artillery and armored equipment. These losses have severely hampered the Ukrainian forces' operational capabilities in this region.

In Lebanon, regional tensions, israeli airstrikes have targeted Syria and there are reports of intercepted missile and drone launches from Yemen. The Middle Eastern crisis continues, with ongoing conflicts and instability caused by Israel in the region.
