U.S Student Visas Update: Terms and Conditions May Deport You

Mr. Stark Season 2 Episode 46

The Trump administration has begun revoking the visas of hundreds, potentially over a thousand, international college students across the United States without prior notice to the universities involved. Schools have confirmed widespread SEVIS record terminations but emphasized they were neither informed nor involved in the decision-making process. Initially, visa revocations appeared to target students involved in pro-Palestinian activism, but have since expanded to include those with minor legal issues—or, in some cases, no identifiable cause.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the administration is conducting daily visa revocations and plans to use artificial intelligence to identify students with criminal records. The abrupt nature of these actions, and the lack of transparency or due process, has created a growing “climate of fear” on college campuses.

Universities are actively monitoring SEVIS data for sudden changes and offering legal and emotional support to affected students. Lawsuits have been filed by universities, students, and state attorneys general challenging the legality and constitutionality of the visa cancellations. These actions are affecting not only current students but also recent graduates on Optional Practical Training (OPT) programs, potentially forcing them to leave the country immediately or face deportation, with little to no recourse.
