This Episode is Remembering the Late Dolly Parton.
This is the hardest episode I could be recording at this moment in time for pop culture purposes. I never thought I would be recording this episode as I am still in the first year of this podcast. Because a lot of happy things have been happening. I thought I would be doing an episode talking about pumpkin spies. But no, I'm not talking pumpkin spies. Yes, I have my first pumpkin spy string, but you will be hearing about that in a different episode. But instead, I'm focusing on how America feels about what has happened within the last or it hasn't even been 24 hours yet, but we're hitting close to 24 hours. I know it's been filling my social media. I know everybody else, it's probably been filling up your social media as well. America lost its queen, queen Dolly. I feel like we saw her and everything. We thought she was fine with the last time she has made a public appearance, or it was video style, actually. We thought she was fine for her age. We thought she looked fine. No one expected her to pass. A lot of people have been sharing a lot of feelings on social media. I've been watching quite a bit of it. I can't share my thoughts on that um for privacy reasons, but my heart hurts for the country scene, for the impact Dolly left on country music. Because she created a genre, a country that we have gotten to know. I know I'm not the biggest country fan, but I know my Dolly Parton music. Because there's just certain songs you have to know to be a southerner. And she made a big role in what women play in country music nowadays, of being a strong personality and not taking no for an answer. Because the Dolly Parton I grew up with was the one who was the godmother to Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus. That's the Dolly Parton I knew. So every generation has been affected by Dolly Parton. I I grew up with her being the grandmotherly figure to listening to songs that every generation should know. To her good Samaritan acts, she has done for the Appalachian region, up Ken Kentucky, and other areas. And that she had a big impact on reading, and that this was her message of she felt reading was a way to get out of poverty for some people. And even though she got lucky and she got out of poverty with music, she made sure there was another way for low-income kids to get out of the Appalachian region and make a lot a better life for themselves by reading. There's a lot of amazing things Sally did other than her music career, in that she was a good human and that she didn't show her anger. She was a very kind human on social media. And even though I never got to meet her, which is sad, I was hoping one day to meet her before she died, for someone going into the radio field and being in her early years of making it in the radio world. I'm just sad I never got to meet this legend of a country singer because she affected every genre of music, by the way, not just country, and that she will be missed on almost every genre of music because Dolly touched every genre in some degree. From I didn't even know she did this until you talk with people. She did a rock album, she has appeared in some pop songs, her goddaughters for sure. I've been seeing a lot of that pop up in my feed. Her kind heart has been one of them. To still being able to sing at 80 years old, to opening a amusement park that has been open for a very long time. I don't know how I have not been to Dollywood. I think I need to make a trip down to Dollywood at some point to just recently opening a Bucky a Bucky style gas station down in Tennessee. Yes, I have heard about that, and I still have not made my trip down there. I need to make a trip down there. But us as a society, we are so so sad with this passing. And we will be reminiscing, reminiscing about the passing of this queen, America's queen, for a very long time. I think I think we need a national holiday for Dolly now because she has made such a big impact. Not just the south. Because even though she was very prominent in the South, she will be leaving a pretty big impact over the whole US. And I hope people try to keep her imagination library alive after her death because it made a very big impact on people who couldn't read who can now read. Dolly made sure every child got a book who couldn't get a book, and I love that about her because I think reading is a very good gateway to getting somewhere in life. And I hope you have enjoyed this episode. This is not an episode I wanted to put out. I am not editing this episode at all. I hope you enjoyed my little spiel on what I think about Dolly because she is a great human. She made a big impact in the music industry during her career. And I hope to see you next time with a much better episode, and we will talk more pumpkin spies because it's big and I don't think it's appropriate to talk about it right now. And I will see you next time. Bye.
