EP 167: When you think your audience 'can't afford it' - listen to this
What if the clients you dream of working with aren’t repelled by your pricing…
but by the energy you bring to it?
This episode is an invitation to shift.
Not your offer. Not your niche.
Your relationship with your own worth.
Because pricing is never just about strategy.
It’s about safety.
And until your nervous system feels safe to hold more,
you’ll keep shrinking to fit what you think others can handle.
Inside this episode, we explore:
- Why “I want to stay accessible” often masks a deeper fear of rejection
- How your money beliefs get projected onto your audience, and shape your results
- The three signs your pricing isn’t aligned with your energetic truth
- What emotional congruence really means, and how it impacts your magnetism
- The identity shift that changes your client attraction, sales, and self-trust
This is for the woman who knows she’s ready to lead more powerfully.
Who’s done compromising her pricing to stay palatable.
And who’s ready to recalibrate her inner and outer world so her offers finally feel clean, congruent, and true.
Reflection Questions:
Where am I still adjusting my pricing to avoid being seen as “too much”?
Where do I hesitate to invest in myself, even when I ask others to invest in me?
What would shift if I trusted my value enough to let my pricing reflect it?

Jessica Read:If you are still pricing your office based on what you think your audience can afford, then we need to talk. Now, here is something that most business coaches are not going to tell you. You are not just anchoring your price into pricing psychology or pulling something out of the air to name your price. You are projecting your own money beliefs onto your audience. And if deep down you still believe that high ticket is too much, you will attract people who mirror that energy. You will find yourself adjusting your worth to avoid rejection. You'll end up staying small or keeping yourself smaller than you want to be, not because your audience isn't ready. And that is a myth we are going to bust today. But because you are actually afraid to be too much for them, this is not about being inaccessible. It is actually about being honest, about what it takes to deliver your work with integrity, honest about the energy that it costs you to undercharge. And we're gonna dive into that today as well, and honest about how long you have been shrinking your power to stay. Affordable for people who aren't as committed to their transformation as what you need them to be. So let's talk about what is really going on when you say my audience cannot afford it. Welcome back to Resource with Jessica Reed. This is the space where we build businesses from the inside out. With nervous system integrity, emotional clarity, and deeply embodied leadership. And today's episode is for the woman who wants to charge more, okay? Who feels the pull of creating a beautiful high ticket experience to include in her office suite that keeps shrinking back her price because she's convinced that people cannot afford it. Now, this is the one of the most misunderstood blocks in business. Because it feels noble and you tell yourself that you're being accessible, you're being kind, you're being realistic. Who said that one recently? I'm just being realistic about what the pricing, about what the economy is doing. I'm just being realistic. But what's actually happening is you are making pricing decisions from fear, not from alignment, from your own beliefs. Around money and until you get really honest about the money beliefs that you are still carrying, and maybe you've already done some work, amazing that's gotten you to this baseline, let's dig even deeper, then you are going to be designing your business around the capacity of the people that you are actually afraid to outgrow. Oh, I felt that in my whole body. The people that you are afraid to outgrow. So let's chat about pricing based on what your audience can afford and how. I don't believe that's actually a strategy. I believe that's self-protection. Let's name this really clearly for what it is. When you say they can't afford it, people are struggling right now. I need to be accessible. It sounds like empathy. But often it is actually avoidance. Avoidance of feeling rejected, of being misunderstood, of taking up too much space, avoidance of confronting your own scarcity stories. Here is what is really happening. Your nervous system doesn't feel safe with high ticket energy yet. So instead of holding that discomfort. You project it onto your audience, you unconsciously look for proof that no one will pay You. Focus on the few people who ghost you. You focus on the one person who says you are too expensive, or the family member who goes, oh my gosh, how do you charge that price? I've been there. My goodness. You can't let your money beliefs or other people's money beliefs project into your pricing decisions because that's when you're making them based on fear of being too much, fear of being rejected, all the fears. You're not basing it on your value or on the transformation, and so you end up calling people in who aren't ready. Or they're as ready as you are prepared to take them, and you're not prepared to take them into that next level readiness because you have decided that you can't charge for that because you are still unsure on some level if you are ready. So let's have a look at three signs now that you are protecting or projecting, sorry, your own money beliefs. Three clear signs that this pattern is playing out in your business. Yes. So number one, you might feel resentful even when people buy because if you are undercharging, so maybe you've got this moment where you go, yes, I got a new client, new person in my program, but you're undercharging. And you are overdelivering. And so now you've got all of this excess to give. You've got no boundaries on your Voxer container, no boundaries in your slack space. People are pulling from you every minute it feels. Deep down it's not sustainable, but hey, you charged for it, right? And so when it comes time then to raise your prices, you are shrinking. You justify staying where you are because you need to stay accessible. But the truth is, you're actually afraid to lose the validation. The second thing, then, the way that it can play out in your business is that you avoid actually talking about your pricing publicly. Maybe you're writing this incredible content and you're showing up with so much passion, but when it's time to actually name the number of your program, who's done this in a webinar before or a masterclass? I see it all the time. People skip over the sell. You've created this whole launch and you've created this amazing experience to offer and invite people into that launch. And then it comes time to talk about their investment. And you say the price really quickly and you skip over it, and you just move on. Nobody buys and you think your launch is a failure. Like no, you just didn't actually extend an invitation with a confidence in what you're charging. And some people will believe it's too expensive or they can't afford it, and that's okay. That's not a personal attack on you. That's not a personal reflection of your services. Or a sign to say that you need to go and, rework all of your pricing? No. You are afraid that someone will call it too much, but what you're really fearing is that you will feel like you are too much or unworthy of charging that. Now if that resonates with you, I have a brand new program, pricing Energetics, money Mindset, and Receiving, and it will help you deal with exactly that. It is called She Holds Wealth, and you can dive into that. Instantly. Okay. There is a link below. It's a 14 day audio program with really beautiful integration practices every day, so you're not just learning something, you're actually integrating it into every part of your being. Now, the third way this can show up in your business is that you keep creating lower ticket offers for your audience. So you say, so you're telling people, sorry, you're telling yourself. That people cannot afford your premium offer. So you build another offer and you build another offer. Until you've fragmented your energy, it's leaking everywhere. Completely confused your brand. I know this from experience too, and still your dream clients aren't converting. That is because you're not calling them in. You again, are pricing for the people that you are afraid to outgrow, most of whom are not working with you anyway, because their money mindset beliefs don't allow them to invest themselves in that$37 a month experience. So I'd love to know how many of those are landing for you. It feels like this is a bit of a truth bomb episode. I dunno if you're watching me for listening, but if you're watching on YouTube, I'm like, my arms are going everywhere with this. It's ah, I just want you to hear this. Recognize the patterns. It's time to break it because your pricing doesn't need to be palatable. It needs to be precise. You are not here to be palatable. You are here to be powerful. You're here to price from clarity, not from fear, and to attract clients who are resourced enough to actually meet you. And do the work, not just admire you. Someone telling you that what you do or your content is inspirational is not going to lead to the sale. The person who says that you activated something in them and they're ready to do the work, that's the person who you are charging for. This piece here is important as well. Emotional congruence matters. You cannot expect your audience to feel grounded in your pricing if your body still flinches when someone else names theirs. And I say that with love and because I've lived it and it's not, I'm not saying go out and invest in a$5,000 program because you wanna charge$5,000. That's not what I'm saying. But if you want people to invest in you to see that transformation. To stretch themselves for your work. Where are you stretching yourself in terms of your investment in your own growth? You're telling yourself it's too expensive, I can't afford it. Now is not the time. There are reframes around this, around you prioritize what you are investing in yourself. There are things that are not priorities in this moment. But for you to be showing up and telling yourself all of the time that something is too expensive, you can't afford it, even though you know that the return could be exponential. This is not about forcing yourself into high ticket mentorship, as I just said, but it is about being honest with yourself. Where are you expecting others to embody what you haven't fully claimed yet? Because the beliefs that you hold about your own spending. They are going to reflect in the energy that you bring to your selling, and that is not shame. That is just a mirror. You get to shift that, go and start in. She holds wealth. Go and start there and then get into the Ascension Academy wait list. Okay? You are going to absolutely transform and she holds wealth will start that for you. You get to shift it now. You get to stop projecting your uncertainty onto your audience and start aligning your internal and external words so that your pricing and your messaging all ident and your identity, they all move in the same direction. And this is what we call emotional congruence. And it's what makes your business feel magnetic at what makes you magnetic and clean and safe, energetically safe to buy from without you having to convince anyone or stretch into that desperation energy. I had a conversation in my mastermind, it was a few months ago now, but it was someone trying to price their offer and she said the price, and she goes, I'm just worried. It's a bit expensive. And I said at whose standards? It said, oh, for the moms. For the moms who can't afford it. Okay. But are they your audience? Are they your ideal client, or is that your belief that is too expensive? Because the program that you've just described to me, I have paid something very similar for at three times that price, and because it impacted my health and wellbeing. I didn't think it was expensive. I saw value in it. You get, determine what's expensive. I had a conversation with someone, a family member not too long ago, who was looking at something for their son, and they were saying, this is it's a$10,000 thing, and okay, I don't I'm not judging whether someone has that kind of money just there to hand over to something. But the response was, it's too expensive now. This was a medical thing. That actually was going to make lifelong impact, make this child's life easier, make their home life easier. This was going to literally have life changing medical impact. So the word I would've chosen to use would not have been expensive around that. I would've started to look at it and go, okay, is this a priority for me right now? Actually it is. I need to find a way. And then we move out of the, focus on this is expensive and I can't afford it, and I can't pay for it now into a focus of I'm gonna make this happen. And how are we gonna be able to do this? How do we make this happen? Because it is a priority to some people.$10,000 is expensive. To some people, a hundred thousand dollars is expensive. To some people, a million dollars is expensive. It's all relative to what you think is big. And if you are projecting onto your audience that they can't afford your services, then I want you to offer it now through a different lens. Maybe it's not your audience that is under-resourced.'cause people will find a way, they will use a credit card, they will borrow money from someone. If they really want or need it, they will find a way. So maybe you're not communicating the value. Maybe you are not clear yet on the value. Maybe you're projecting your own money beliefs and you're in that space of not being an emotional congruence. Or maybe your nervous system doesn't yet feel safe around owning the transformation that you deliver, but that gets to change. You don't have to lower your vision to meet the version of your audience that isn't ready. And like I said in last week's episode, they're not likely investing in you. You are trying to keep people happy who aren't investing in you at the low ticket pricing anyway. You do get to rise if you choose to. You do get to call in clients who are already waiting for the energy that you are holding back, and this is what we do inside the Ascension Academy. We build businesses that are emotionally clear, energetically grounded, and financially expansive because you are first becoming the woman who can hold it. The visibility, the self trust, the wealth energetics, and then you are creating the congruent, aligned high ticket offer. And some of you will launch that offer before that 12 weeks is even out and make your money back. And I know you will because you are the person who is going to go and do the thing. You're ready for it. So I would really encourage you to join the wait list. I'll be opening up the wait list very shortly with a very, special investment offer to the wait list only. And as you wrap up this episode, I want you to remember that it is not your audience. It is actually your safety. And safety is something that we can rebuild. So I look forward to seeing you next week. Let me know over on Instagram what has dropped in for you and get yourself on the wait list for the Ascension Academy.
