Sharing our survivor stories from Breast cancer gives us a voice in a voiceless system and helps equip others diagnosed how to fight the Battle Ahead. As we share we help others know how to fight, how to find hope, and how to advocate for themselves along the way. It helps you know that you can fight and do hard things too! As a survivor I found the health system left me feeling unheard, unseen, and dismissed. I turned to the internet to find the answers I didn't get from my health team. I found very little outside from medical facilities. This led me on the journey to give back and provide what I was searching for. What better way to know how to fight than to hear from others warriors who fought and won! It will look different for each person facing Breast Cancer, but you will not be alone. Even if it's not cancer, It is still HARD! Nikki Shares her journey with getting a lumpectomy
Hearing the word Suspicious is scary, hearing the word biopsy is scary, hearing the words "you need diagnostic imaging" is scary! lets be real! Breast Cancer is scary and because of all the wonderful awareness we are all aware of the high incidence rates. So hearing these word can send fear into even the strongest person! So, let's talk about it! Nikki shares her journey with needing a lumpectomy, hearing it isn't cancer, and what the aftermath looks like. She is open and vulnerable and willing to share her experiences wit a female making her fell "less than" based on her decisions!
She is an inspiration and she reminds us all how to be better for each other!
I post at least one survivor story a month to get the voices of the people who have faced it and won out there! In doing so I hope to equip and inspire someone else. This journey is hard. It is demanding. And you will find just how strong you are when being strong is the only choice you have.
