#3 Justification, Sanctification, Glorification
In this episode, I explore the concepts of justification, sanctification, and glorification, which summarize the Christian journey. I break down these stages, explaining how they relate to spiritual rebirth, growth in holiness, and eternal life with God. Through examples and scriptural references, I emphasize the importance of understanding these concepts for a deeper faith and spiritual maturity.
- Justification is a spiritual rebirth in Christ, marked by baptism.
- Sanctification is a lifelong commitment to grow in holiness through the Holy Spirit.
- Glorification represents eternal life with God after resurrection.
- The Christian journey mirrors key life stages from birth to resurrection.
- Justification, sanctification, and glorification are essential moments in a Christian's life.
- Spiritual maturity is a key aspect of sanctification.
- God's grace allows us to be justified despite our sins.
- Our present troubles are temporary compared to the glory to come.
- Baptism is the first step in the Christian journey.
- Understanding these concepts is crucial for spiritual growth.

justification, sanctification, and glorification. This is a concept that I will attempt to break down in its simplest form. Welcome to the show. If you're new here, don't forget to comment, ring the notification bell, and subscribe to the channel for daily and weekly updates. this is a concept that I
stumbled across in preparing for my last episode. If you haven't listened to episode two, go ahead and do so so that you can get a better background of this topic today. But essentially, in my previous episode, I brought up the idea of washed, justified, and sanctified.
So we'll be going actually a little deeper in this episode and we'll be also exploring the glorification stage. But that is really the heart behind this episode and sort of where the idea came from. So let's just get started. So when we talk about justification, sanctification, glorification, this is really summarizing the Christian journey.
And so in its simplest form, justification is a spiritual rebirth in Christ. And that is always known as baptism. Right. So in my previous episode, I explored this topic. And when it comes to baptism, it's a public declaration of your faith. So you're no longer
you know, one foot in, one foot out in terms of your faith, rather you are going 100 % in and you therefore decide to get baptized. That is known as a spiritual rebirth, also known as a public declaration of your new found faith. So that is justification. Sanctification is growth in holiness,
through the Holy Spirit. So getting baptized is the first step and then you then evolve into the sanctification stage and that is a lifelong commitment between yourself and the Holy Spirit. So that is your effort to becoming holy through the Holy Spirit.
if that makes sense. It's growth and holiness. And end goal is glorification. So glorification is eternal life with God after resurrection. So that is where we all want to be eventually. That is where we will spend eternity with God in our glorified bodies.
So that is a quick summary of the Christian journey. Again, it's summarized with first step being justification, and then you would naturally evolve into sanctification, and then glorification being the end goal. Excuse my voice.
So to really bring this home, every Christian recognizes that the spiritual journey mirrors key life stages from birth to resurrection with justification, sanctification, and glorification, marking these important moments. want to give you guys some examples of this concept so that maybe it could make more sense.
The first example I want to give is we are physically born, right? So we're born from our mother's womb. From there, we go through school and we then naturally get a job, right? That's sort of the basic natural progression of the average person. So with this example,
being born again in Christ, in holiness through the Holy Spirit and going to be with God forever. Right? So that's, this is really broken down into three steps. The other example, which I came up with on my own is we meet someone that we are highly attracted to. That's
the justification step. We begin the courting phase. That's the commitment phase or otherwise your growth in holiness. Then we get married and live out a lifelong marriage, which is then known as the covenantal phase, right? Meet someone because you're highly attracted to them. That's justification. And then
between you and that person, the courting phase begins. That's the commitment phase because you're, you and this person are agreeing to become committed to each other at that point. And finally, the goal is to get married and live out a lifelong marriage, which you would then enter into that covenant with them. And the covenant
is marriage. So that would be the glorification stage if we're comparing that to the Christian journey.
I hope those examples help in in this, you know, three step process because I know it can be confusing. So let me actually give you some concrete definitions of these three phases. So the first definition, well, the first one being justification. So the definition for the first one, justification is
An act of God whereby he he pronounces a sinner to be righteous because of that sinner's faith in Christ. We are justified or declared righteous at the moment of our salvation. So really the the key here is. We're imperfect because of sin, but.
It is because of God's grace we are justified. Okay. I hope that's tracking so far. The next one is sanctification. So sanctification is the process by which Christians are set apart for God from the rest of the world or the process by which Christians are made holy. Progressive or experiential sanctification
as it is sometimes called, is the effect of obedience to the word of God in one's life. It is the same as growing in the Lord, which is expanded on in 2nd Peter 3, 18, which states, rather you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever. Amen.
So this idea is also known as spiritual maturity. Okay.
So with sanctification, you've left behind a life of sin and you have brought yourself to like pretty much closer to God because you have set yourself apart from the world leaving behind your life of sin. sanctification,
through this process, you are being made holy. Okay. Again, it's spiritual maturity. Can we sin during this step? Yes, of course, because every man falls short of the glory of God, which we'll later go through in this episode. Yes, you can still sin during this stage, but it's your effort to growing in spiritual maturity that
God wants and that God sees. So in this step, God is looking at your heart posture. It's the heart posture that matters in this step to God. And then finally, where we want to end up eventually is the glorification step.
So when it comes to glorification, it's God's final removal of sin from the life of the saints so that they stand faultless before Him in glory in eternity. So Romans chapter eight, verse 18 states, for I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory
that is going to be revealed to us. And this idea is echoed in 2 Corinthians chapter 4 verse 17. It states, for our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
So keep those two verses in mind because we're going to break those down in a little bit. And then so at Christ's coming, the glory of God. And before I continue with that, I want to read you Romans chapter five, verse two. It says,
have also obtained access through him by faith into this grace in which we stand and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. So. At Christ's coming, the glory of God, his honor, praise, majesty and holiness.
will be realized in us. We will have direct and unhindered access to God's presence and we will enjoy Holy Communion with Him throughout eternity.
So if I can summarize this, God's intent is for nobody to be damned. God doesn't want anybody to be cast to the lake of fire. And this is the final step between this side of eternity and being with God. Right. So in this step, God's removing any
of sin that's left within us and he is preparing us to be with him for eternity. So let me give you more on Romans chapter 8 and 18 and 2nd Corinthians 4 and 17. So in other words what's going on in these chapters, verses, and books is
is basically that our present troubles are small and won't last very long, yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs these troubles and will last forever. I wanted to give you that interpretation because I know that sometimes scripture can be a little confusing to read, but if you're going to walk away with anything, it's going to be that interpretation.
So let me just say that again. So when it comes to Romans 8, 18, 2 Corinthians 4, 17, in other words, our present troubles are small and won't last very long, yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs these troubles and will last forever. OK, so what we're experiencing that the troubles that
the trials, the tribulation that we are experiencing here on earth on this side of eternity will not compare to the glory that we will experience with God in heaven on that side of eternity. All right, that's the interpretation.
So just for further context, Paul wrote both Romans and 2 Corinthians. He actually wrote 1 Corinthians as well. But in this context, Paul refers to a life threatening incident that he and his companions endured in the province of Asia during his ministry. So if you weren't
If you're unclear of who Paul is or what he was doing, he was basically traveling to different areas and provinces and he was spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. That was his ministry. I believe that it's Paul that later states that we are called to make disciples of all nations, know, baptizing them in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And so
Paul, he was inspired by Jesus and he took it upon himself to live out what Jesus said. So that was Jesus' words on making disciples of all nations. And Paul just echoed that and he actually lived it out. So in Romans and Corinthians, he writes these letters and just for
further context before we move on. The reason that he's talking about these trials that he's facing is because he was threatened during an incident between him and his his well, yeah, it was him and his companions versus the opposition. And they endured unspeakable things. It's it's also explained in the letters that he wrote.
don't have time to get into that, but he did endure some pretty harsh opposition. So that's why he says what we endure here on earth is nothing compared to what we will experience with God in eternity.
And then I want to just also expand on Romans chapter five, verse two. So through Christ, we have obtained the most important thing in the universe. And that's access to the grace of God by our faith in Christ. And grace means a good thing that is not deserved. What each of us
deserved because of our sin was God's angry judgment. What we've been given instead is God's grace. So if you don't remember what Romans 5 2 was, Romans 5 2 states that we have also obtained access through him by faith into this grace in which we stand and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.
This speaks to original sin, which we all suffer from. It all started in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve partook of the fruit that God told them to stay away from. That is the original sin that we all carry debt from. And that's why we're born into sin.
So all Romans 5 2 is saying is that, We only deserve God's angry judgment that basically God gave us a chance. You know, he created the perfect humans and Adam and Eve, but he also gave them free will. You know, he he God also created free moral agents.
He didn't create robots. just because of what happened, yes, we do carry that debt to this day, but God is a gentleman. He's not always a wrathful, vengeful God. And because of this, we've been given God's grace. We deserve God's judgment, but we've been given God's grace.
Okay. It's kind of like, so my son, right? I'm going to love him no matter what he does. You know, I can, I can teach him what to do. I can show him what to do. can be a good example, but will he falter? Will he, will he want to do what he wants to do and not listen to my advice? Will he experience
Will he experience certain things that could cause him to walk away from me? Sure, it's possible. But guess what? I'm always going to love him. I will always wait for him. I will counsel him. My love for my son never changes. In those cases, would he deserve my discipline?
Yes, of course, absolutely. Would I give him discipline? Probably. But it's also my grace to my son where he would then understand once he matures that, hey, you know, I have an open door policy with you. know, X, Y and Z can happen between us, but guess what?
I'm going to be understanding, I'm going to be graceful, and I will always love you. And so that's kind of the idea with Romans 5 2. That also mirrors being depicted here of God and his relationship toward us.
So just to kind of summarize what I'm saying, we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. That's Romans chapter 3 verse 23.
Through faith in Jesus, we stand in grace. So God sent his only begone son to die a death we should have died. And he paid for our sins as a ransom. And because of that, we can stand in grace with Jesus.
And so our response to all of this, what should our response be? We should rejoice. absolute certainty of being in God's glory forever. So the fact that there is certainty that we can be in God's glory forever, that alone should just enable us, should prompt us to rejoice.
forever and ever. And rejoice step.
It starts when the justification step occurs.
again, to wrap things up, justification, we are lost without God, through Him only. So we're lost without God, but we're only justified through God. And this step occurs during baptism.
Step number two is sanctification. Sanctification is lifelong covenant with the Holy Spirit and God. Sanctification is a lifelong covenant with the Holy Spirit and God. And finally, glorification is when we die sanctified and are raised glorified. We remain faultless before him.
in eternity.
So just to wrap things up guys, that is the idea that I want you to take away from this concept. It's important
because our faith hinges on this concept. Not only our faith, our actions, our thoughts, our behavior, it all hinges on this concept. It's a constant evolution our journey with Jesus Christ. It's the Christian's journey from start to finish.
So just make sure you guys keep this in mind. If you haven't been baptized, this might be a good episode to refer to. might be a good to start in terms of understanding.
But it's crucial start with baptism. Baptism is repentance. You're making a 180 degree turn. And then once you've committed your life to God, then the sanctification stage again, lifelong covenant with the Holy Spirit and God. And then finally, the glorification step begins.
But remember, order to be glorified, we die sanctified and are raised glorified. And at that point, we stand faultless before God in eternity.
