A fabulous episode talking to Sylvia Bruce about her amazing career highlights and initiatives in the mental health space. Sylvia talks candidly about her own struggles with mental ill health, and how she overcame these struggles. Her career is truly impressionable, and Sylvia continues to champion and advocate for mental wellbeing in the work that she does by supporting and inspiring others.
Sylvia Bruce has been an integrative counsellor - with additional highly specialised training – for 20 years and an NLP Coach and Master, mental wellbeing consultant, educator and trainer for 10 years. She also talks candidly about her mental ill health (suicidal depression) to mental wealth experience.
She’s a former financial executive with extensive experience leading high performing teams in dynamic, pressurised environments. As a Director at HSBC, her globally renowned team managed a multi-billion USD portfolio. As their Mental Health Network Chair, Business Disability SteeroCo member and women’s equality network founder member, she also drove several DEI initiatives forward.
Sylvia now works with various organisations, businesses, UK Government entities to raise mental health awareness, take a risk based and practical approach to creating mental health confident, psychologically safe and supportive workplaces. She’s also a This Can Happen Ambassador, Lifetime Commitment to Workplace Wellbeing Award 2024 finalist, combined various passions by devising three, on-line equestrian industry well-being resources, including the award winning RidersMinds where she also pioneers campaigns and is a counsellor sitting behind their 24/7 helpline.
