Have you heard about Signavio before? No? No worries, I will introduce the two of you in a minute. You will get along well, I am sure.
Ah, you do know Signavio already? That’s great. I promise: I have a couple of surprises for you, there is a lot of good stuff to discover.
Yes, it is always intriguing when you compare what you can see from the outside with what is happening on the inside. There seems to be this straight line from a simple idea, through overnight success all the way to a global powerhouse. And yes indeed, a business that, as a standalone enterprise, would be one of Germany‘s largest software companies, is quite a success story, I agree.
You have seen it coming, over all these years? No, now you are joking. At least I didn’t. What I did see was a lot of struggle, a lot of learning, and a lot of fun. And most importantly: So many extraordinary people - each one bringing their own spark, wisdom, and energy.
I’d rather fail as a team than win alone. This mindset shaped what would become Signavio’s essence. From the start, it was never about one person’s success. We faced challenges together, learned from our setbacks, and celebrated wins as a team. Our culture was built on the belief that growth and progress happen when everyone moves forward together.
Kindness is the source of all growth. This was a belief that became more evident with each passing year. True growth doesn’t come from pressure or ruthless competition. It comes from creating an environment of trust, respect, and genuine care. At Signavio, I’ve seen how kindness empowers people to be their best, how it strengthens teams, and how it can create lasting change.
And we never lost sight of the importance of having fun. Celebrating and enjoying ourselves were as much a part of our culture as meeting our ambitious goals. Progress and learning blended with just having a good time, and we have built an environment where setbacks are embraced as part of growth.
As an entrepreneur, I have achieved everything that I can possibly wish for. But it was never a solo journey - every step was a shared effort that made it truly meaningful.

This book isn’t designed to be a “how-to” guide. What you’ll find instead are lessons learned the hard way, shared with the hope that they’ll resonate with those who face similar crossroads and challenges. This is a story of trial and error, of hopes tested, and of moments where our collective resilience made the difference.
At its heart, this book is a celebration of the incredible people who walked this path with me. And if there’s one message I hope to convey, it’s that the journey of building something lasting is never truly completed - it’s always evolving, shaped by those who believe in the power of what they are creating, who are driven by authenticity and impact.
