Welcome back to another episode of Pulse of Polynesia: In the Hot Seat — where we celebrate the voices, stories, and power of our Pacific people.

Our guest today is the definition of strength, service, and soul. From the frigid courts of Anchorage to the roaring stadiums of the NFL, to building a legacy as a father of five, a husband, and a leader in his community — Ma’o Tosi has lived a life of purpose through every chapter.

Born in American Samoa, Ma’o moved to California at the age of three and later found his roots in Anchorage, Alaska, where he was raised. He went on to become a standout athlete, eventually being selected in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. As a rookie, he started ten games and led the defensive line in tackles. But in his third season, an unexpected diagnosis of spinal stenosis ended his playing career — and opened the door to something even greater.

From the NFL field to the frontlines of community change, Ma’o has done it all. And tonight, we’re diving into the full journey — the wins, the wounds, the wisdom, and the unshakable values that guide him every step of the way. From raising Polynesian kids in today’s world to holding onto faith when life demands a new playbook — this is one of those stories that will stay with you long after it ends.

So grab your headphones, take a deep breath, and step into the story of Ma’o Tosi — a true son of the Pacific, and a warrior with a heart of gold.
