A Place to Scream
A Place to Scream is not a place but a chasm. A scream can be a shout into the void or a protest song—a cry, a catharsis, a celebration. Or this space can entangle itself into its own parts: a lingering in between-ness, a spell, a perfect uncertainty. A Place to Scream is interested in the collective intersections between disciplines, where rupture and disparity can morph into a grander diasporic consciousness, holding each other with urgency.
A Place to Scream
Ep.12 Oh, no! My Head's Been Turned!
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
We're beginning to think this whole thing is rigged?!...but perhaps, not in the way you would think.
Who are we, really, behind the avatar we use to move about our modern multi-verse of online and interpersonal relationships. Between Love Island discourse and World Cup mania, our heads have been turned and what once felt self evident, has been co-opted to serve the insatiable hunger for cultural homogeneity by the capital machine.
Hello, my name's Saf.
SPEAKER_02And I'm Logna G. Welcome back to a Place to Scream podcast. Today's episode is.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, my head's been turned.
SPEAKER_02This time for Africa.
SPEAKER_01They said. Welcome to a place to scream World Cup Roundup.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. Oh my god. Not the introduction being that. This is meant to be a part two, loose part two of our last episode on intimacy. But I feel like this shit is intimate.
SPEAKER_01You know what? It is. It is in the it's touching the lives of billions of people across the world. There is uh, you know, we're continuing our conversation on commitment, intimacy, you know, asking all of these questions of like, what does it mean to be a victim of a rigged system? What does it mean? It's all rigged. It's all rigged. It's all rigged. It's rigamorous. You know, what does it mean to be a bad bitch with a big heart who wants to find the small bits of joy in their life? God forbid. And there just seemingly becomes harder and harder to do because bitches just want to be online and stay mad.
SPEAKER_02And just just, yeah, if you if you thought that intro was going in one direction, uh you better stay tuned and stay gay.
SPEAKER_01Everyone stay on your toes.
SPEAKER_02Stay on your toes, because I'm coming for all of you. I am coming for your throats. Don't think I because I said the word rigged, I was talking about FIFA. I was talking about, as you said before we recorded, the greater capitalistic white supremacist project that we live under every day. And y'all talk about FIFA? Okay.
unknownAlright.
SPEAKER_01It's only we're at two minutes and 40 seconds, Gita's screaming into the mic. We're clipping the mic already, folks.
SPEAKER_02I've already screamed, and last night is the first time I slept in a long time. So you better you better be locked.
SPEAKER_01This woman, this woman has not slept in two weeks.
SPEAKER_02I uh it's been stewing. It's been a fucking bean stew up here.
SPEAKER_01Are we talking pressure cooked?
SPEAKER_02Pressure cooked.
SPEAKER_01We got oxtail in there.
SPEAKER_02Oxtail served. Wooden spoon. Hmm. I don't know. It's it's all a jumble. Um, I don't know. I don't even know how to like begin. Um but if you wanted to, if you wanted to discuss kind of um this idea of commitment a bit before we sure let's lay some groundwork.
SPEAKER_01Let's let's ground us in something. Um, okay. Well, there's a few different threads going on here. I think what we talked about a lot l the last episode that I'm partially carrying into this one is um the, you know, this kind of theme of understanding our own actions, our own decisions, why we're doing certain things, and also like what does it actually mean to build the capacity within yourself to live out your actual commitments? Because it's one thing to say, oh, I'm committed to this, such and such thing, whatever, whether it be a political praxis, whether it be uh a way of um let's say interacting in like interpersonal relationships, however, whatever thing you're thinking of, okay, what does it mean to actually start doing those things? Because uh and when often, if it is rooted in kind of radical beliefs, or if it's rooted in any kind of thing that is antithetical to the white supremacist capitalist society that we are all born within, it is pretty goddamn painstaking to to confront that level of resistance all the time. And it's interesting that you know in many, many, many iterations of pop culture that are happening in front of us now, also didn't say this at the top rest in piss, Lindsay Graham and Mitch McConnell, the ancestors are at work, Miss Graham. We celebrate the we are uh waving our white flag, lowering our flags for Lady G. Miss Ma'am Graham, Miss Ma'am Graham, Miss Girl, Miss Thing, uh, Mitch McConnell. I saw that AI generated photo that y'all be posting. Uh I know you are 10 feet under as well. Rest in piss. I hope y'all are having a cute little uh side chain interaction with Ronald Reagan in the pits of hell. Anyways, um moving swiftly along. Moving swiftly on, just didn't want to forget that. Those those girlies were really dedicated to death. Talk about they were committed to not dying, bitch. Their commitment to the roost of not dying. Anyways, so carrying that thread of this kind of the tension between the society you live in and the values that you're trying to inhibit. As well as um I I think kind of the along the same lines of like mental fortitude, you know, we I think we are just like I don't know if it's I don't know if we're living in a post TikTok, postmodern, post postmodern, abstract, whatever. I don't know what we're living in right now. Dystopia.
SPEAKER_02I mean it's definitely dystopia.
SPEAKER_01It is utterly shocking the just the attention wars that were under, the seemingly people just abandoning all quote unquote liberal or justice-centered political ideology that we assumedly built up from like 2014 to 2020. Uh yeah, it's just like a lot of lost hope, I think.
SPEAKER_02A lot of lost hope and a lot of empty, empty words. I think, you know, as a as a writer, it's like really painful to see like this is exactly what the fuck Derry doll was on about. Like this is this is deconstruction theory at its finest. Like, you've got the sign, you've got the signified, you've got the signifier. We're we're all we're all here throwing signs at the wall to see if that shit sticks and forgetting the signifiers and the signified. Like you you're just saying words at this point, and like I I genuinely like I've been really reflecting on this um since our last uh episode because we talked so much about meridian, right? We talked about this, what it actually truly means to live a revolutionary life, or to have a radical politic. And I think it's interesting the way that radical politic is being co-opted um in all aspects of media, in all aspects of society, as you said, like tick the TikTok, post-TikTok era, whatever it is. It is so fascinating to see all of this, like it happened with therapy, with therapy talk. Now it's happening, you know, with revolution talk. Like, what is happening here? And I and it's just I I in a way, I've obviously I believe everything's political if you if you look at it that way. Politics is just a lens um to view the world in, just like you know, Marxism is a lens, or feminism is a lens, or you know, these theories are lenses. Uh politics is also a lens. Do I believe that everything is and can be political? Yes. Do I believe that everyone must talk about politics? Yeah. No, I don't, because the fact of the matter is some of y'all don't know what shit's going on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And if your interest is not politic, then why are you commenting on shit? I I'm just saying, like, I have seen I have seen people that have like literally discriminated against me before. Like in in re-IRL past the 2020 era, as as we've already discussed before, like past the 2020 era, post a black screen, or you know, do these types of things that like in a way put them on the quote unquote right side of history or try to force them on the right side of history, and then the same now like they're speaking and speaking, and all I'm hearing is like static fuzz. I'm like, dude, did I really need you to the the perpetrator of racist bullying to come back 10 years later to try to school other people with an Instagram infographic? No. I would have personally preferred you to stay out of it. Yeah. Genuinely. And I think like I find this to be really interesting because I think maybe when I was a little bit younger, I did think, oh well, everyone should be engaged and yada yada yada. Everyone should speak up about things, everyone should, you know. But not everyone is meant to do, you know, someone is some, you know, one writer might be meant to tell the beautiful stories about life. The other writer might be a resistance writer. The other writer might be you know what I mean? Like we are we are squashing all sort of of of you know integrity within ourselves to answer to this larger world of like what we're expected to do. And the only way you're answering to that is just saying shit.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely, absolutely. No, it literally, I mean, it f it's like part of what we were saying in the last episode of like this. Um it's weird because so so the it's this like perfectionism of like people just saying shit because number one through these algorithms on social media platforms that are owned by these billionaire um agents of the state. Yep. You know, Meta is an agent of the state as a corporation as well as Mark Zuckerberg. Elon Musk is literally part of the state. He is the state and owns a social media platform. Um other uh yeah, just you know, whatever. I can't can't speak for blue sky or whatever the fuck, but you know, the major ones that we are dealing with are players for whatever states their home country is is located, or the origin country of these apps. And uh the thing that drives the most pol or most engagement is political takes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Regardless if they're quote unquote correct or not.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And so people, we are then getting reflected back to us through virality.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That the way to interact with each other both in a social platform, but also on some surveillance shit, the way that we need to be looking at each other is through the lens of political quote-unquote correctness. But like, these platforms do not like embody or or reflect any kind of quote-unquote political correctness. They're agents of the state. Like, it doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_02I mean it's it literally doesn't matter. It's literally already been pro like we all know, like when I say we, I'm talking about, you know, leftists. Leftists all know that obviously these platforms have been used for propaganda on the right. We know this, we know that these things, we know about Cambridge Analytica, we know that these things are used to rig elections globally, we know that you know that this is it's it's an agent for the right. However, what we don't also acknowledge is that there can in fact be propaganda all across the spectrum. But this is what we are not acknowledging. If you as like a hyper capitalist American can talk about Soviet propaganda, um why can you not talk about American leftist propaganda? If you as an American can talk about QAnon as a potentially harmful conspiracy theory, then why can you not look in the mirror at your own? Totally. And this I am not trying to defend the right in any capacity by any of these statements. Like I'm I will and always will be a radical on the left.
SPEAKER_01Imagine.
SPEAKER_02Um, but like it is hilarious to me that we have let these agents of the state now co-opt our our radical spaces, yeah, our radical discourse, our revolutionary work, in order for them to make a buck. And in order for these people that are saying these things to also make a buck. Capitalism affects both sides of the spectrum. Yeah. The radical leftists are making paychecks too.
SPEAKER_01Cause do we not remember, you know, you know, for for our listeners, me and Gita have been kind of on a uh we're you know, we're in the it's July. It is the dog days, it is the summer blues, so of course nostalgia takes over and does her thing. And we've been heavy on, or I can I can say personally, I've been heavy on some 2014 to 2017 RB, hip-hop, and rock. I have been up in that shit. I have really just been living my fantasy. In particular, Chance the Rapper's coloring book and T Pab. Yep. Because it just is so emblematic and scissors control. They just are so no names telephone. Oh, and that, yes. Those are the the the holy five. Yeah. Oh, shout out to uh telephone literally is so perfect. Anyways, um, shout out to no name, shout out to no names book club. Shout out it's so, you know, we were tapping into something just like texting each other, being like, Why am I literally crying at coloring book? Yeah. Like, damn, blessings followed by same drugs is like such a diabolical mixture. I can't believe that man did that. Like, how rude. But also, what was so I was I've been thinking about, you know, like what why did why did anything feel even remotely generally hopeful in that time? Because like they're for all intents and purposes, it's like the precursor to right now. So, like, why? You know, why do we feel hopeful in this time? And I'm just thinking of like the you know, it's not that grifters haven't existed throughout, you know, liberative movements from the from you know, for millennia, you know what I mean? Like, grifters have always been around, you know, they have but they've led to really harmful things. I would, you know, I'm not not to get into the Hoteps business, but you know, I would argue that Marcus Garvey in a way was like a fucking grifter. Boop. Um, not to shake things up too fiercely. Oh my but like we are going to get Cointelbro to this series. Cointelbro is in the chat right now. Um, but you know, the whole thing of like Liberia dog, like are we do we want to bring Liberia into the chat? Do we wanna like really bring up that T? Because I really don't think we want to, but the point being is like his grifter ass mentality of like rooted in a good thought, much like the present, you know, a Dr. Umar ain't far away from a Garvey. Um yeah, I'm bringing Dr. Umar back into this bitch. I'm br I'm dragging all you grifter asses because the point is is that you know, in the 20 2014 to 2020, we had the King Grifter Sean King. And the one good thing Meta has ever done is banned that bitch on every platform because jail, just jail, jail for that man. But what has happened, and I feel like was not the case before, is the virality of grifters, and virality just because of how algorithms work allows for validity. And so this like leftists getting their coin out of they they could even be saying things that are a hundred percent true. Most of the times they're shoehorning some bullshit in there. But let's just say, even the perfect grifter, they're saying things that are Hundred percent true, their actions are still absolute trash and has nothing to do with anything radical. And I think seeing that happen over and over and over again, it has created such a demoralizing feeling for people who are dedicated to this lifelong cause of like trying to embody the values that they know they believe in. But it also has like, like you said, it's co-opted a space where in radical politics, like you should be radical spaces in general, you should be welcomed as an imperfect person. You should be able to grow your praxis within radical spaces because it should be, in my opinion, should be a space of both understanding and teaching. Yeah. The most uh uh critically um important and successful movements, especially when you're thinking of like labor movements, do you think that everyone involved in a labor movement is a Marxist? Do you think that everyone involved in a labor uprising all have the exact same beliefs? All have the exact same political thoughts? Hell no, they do not. But that's not, and it's not within those practices, within those movements, within those spaces, even currently, it's not that you ignore that. You are constantly offering spaces of educating, you're constantly offering an alternative perspective to what your comrade is saying. You deal with harm when it's done, whether whoever perpetrates it's whatever, you do that as a community or as a labor force or whatever, but you are not expecting perfection.
SPEAKER_02No, and you're building just to like add a quick thing, you're building on top, right? Like the there's like a foundation that you're building on top of those that came before. Like, not everyone's a Marxist, right? What did black radicals do? We had CLR James, we had black Marxism, like we had these each each individual like time period there was a building upon of these theoretical lenses that I talked about earlier to you know maybe fit a bit better or be a bit more appropriate to the time, or just to even if it wasn't even all of that, just to present a new idea, yeah, just to present a new idea, and not to like not to slightly big up academia, um damn, obviously not the structure of academia, but like you know, theoretical underpinning, scholarship, etc. etc. The only way you can kind of move it, keep it moving in that space is if you one do hell of a lot of research on what came before, and then you use that to shape a new way of thinking, a new idea, a new thought, a new lens, a new approach. Yeah, that is the job of a you know, an educator, that is the job of a like radical writer or radical thinker, like not everyone can do that, and that's fine. The same way that I probably would not be able to pick up a gun, um I wouldn't be able to do that. I believe in armed revolution, but I can't pick up a gun, yeah, right? But I can pick up a pen, okay, and I can pick up a fucking book, all right. So we all have a different role to play in this revolution, and not everyone can do everything, and that's fucking fine. Why are we policing people to do X, Y, and Z to live a radical life in the exact way we prescribe them to live? That doesn't make sense, and also what that does is obviously continue the echo chamber, but it also leaves absolutely zero room for new ideas. We are recycling the same fucking shit, the same narrative from uh from Black Lives Matter, from you know, we're talking LX of Flood in 2014, like it's the same shit, just told over and over in different infographics without obviously one proper research, but two, to prov to present the option of a future, and I think that is what was different, you know, and why we feel nostalgic about 2014 on like during that time is because it felt as though there were some new ideas coming that made us feel like oh the future isn't foreclosed. Oh, yes, we're living in horrific times, but oh, we can do this and and we can say this, and this person wrote this thing, and this person released this album, and this person's album changed my life. But what do we have now? We have co-opted displays of strange neoliberal forms of revolution. Um we have recycled takes and opinions, we have generalizations, we have invisibilizing, we have not listening to to people's facts and evidence. We have not even the basic like amount of trying to dispel the ideas of like that we know. Yeah. Which is like the the the entire point of being a radical. Like a radical means that you're radical in every form of thought, right? A radical means you're challenging and you're questioning. That doesn't mean you don't agree, that doesn't mean you do agree. You're just questioning the the ideas that are presented to you, and you're thinking, hmm, do I believe in that? What is my heart space saying?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. A hundred percent. I, you know, I think what we're seeing with a lot of like, let's uh, you know, let's let's br let's start roping in Love Island into the chat for a moment. We'll try not to get too heated about it. Boop. I have less anger about it and more just like this is the first US season I've ever watched, and what a what a season to watch. Jesus. It's a very nothing burger season, but also a lot of rage in there. Um there is when thinking about like weaponized therapeutic speech, looking at um this real, if people have you know been paying attention or recognizing this real reversion back to very heteronormative, very patriarchy-centered relationship styles from Gen Z, like young Gen Z, mid-young Gen Z. Um, because all these the oldest person on there is 29, Bryce, and he's like whatever, just like a truly a nothing burger person. And then you're gonna get roasted about it. I couldn't give a fuck. I could not give a fuck. None of y'all in my comments, anyways. Like, I don't care. But like, he's just a white guy. He's just a white guy who probably loves the strokes um and is gagged that he finally found found a black woman he's attracted to for once. And it's because he had to get trapped on an island with her and have no other alternatives but a 22-year-old Kenzie who's out of her mind, and Jen, who's like perfectly fine, but like whatever. Like, it's you had to be trapped on an island with black women to find them attractive, but go off.
SPEAKER_02The Nicolandria stands are already in your comment. Very true. However, they're still together, so you know what? I'm I love Yeah, but I don't know. I don't, I don't, I don't trust. I don't trust that is a conspiracy theory that I don't trust. You know what? Get the back. You know what?
SPEAKER_01I think for them because um Nick really be out mocking him every day.
SPEAKER_02The the thing I'm sorry, Bryce, but I don't believe it's a white boy of the month.
SPEAKER_01Nick is taking it.
SPEAKER_02Nick is taking it. I don't believe it's a real relationship, but I hope hope uh Elandria the best.
SPEAKER_01I hope they're getting the best out of it. That's what I hope.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I don't I never liked Nick. I think Nick said a lot of really fucked up things on the show that we just very, very quickly glossed over and pretended like he wasn't didn't say like anything.
SPEAKER_01Which is also what's going on with Bryce. Okay, because the way that just miss flat out misrepresents what Casey says, what Zach said. Like they're all they're all weasel chumps and chopped out there. Like, I don't care about any of these men.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I I should have known when I decided to for some reason watch a US Love Island season, but yeah, it's not we're not I'm not giving uh Nick his twos. I I will I I want everything in the world for Alandria. I hope she's I hope she's good over there. Yeah, and if that means continuing uh public relations, you get that bad girl.
SPEAKER_01You get that bad girl, and I say the same for Trinity. Um Trinity is so cute. Trinity is a reincarnate of like she could have been a ti could if she lived in the 2000s, she would have been a Tiffany Pollard. Like, she is just bad as hell, and she just like ooh, the style is on, the 90s like references are very on. She is video vixen, but she's also Kimmy Patootie, like little.
SPEAKER_02That's what I mean. Yeah, she reminds me of Serena quite a lot. Like she I have a little I haven't even watched this season. I've just seen fucking clips that Meadow wants to force down my throat. For sure. Um but I I have a, you know, my heart. There's a special place in my heart for Trinity.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she really is just like she is like the girl's best friend. She is the girl's girl, she is the best friend, she's she's everything. We want nothing but good things for her. But these dirty dog ass men out here. The whole the the point I'm the reason why I'm bringing this up is because it is so I think a above many seasons of this show, it is really, really wild. The the clear kind of uh desire for homogeneity culturally. Like the way you date, it has to be the exact same as somebody else. The way that you uh show affection to somebody has to be the exact same as somebody else. If you don't do XYZ, that means that you don't like me or that you don't do blah blah blah blah blah. And it's like hold up what happened to like people being people? Nuance. What happened to being what happened to like it's just it's so the disconnect between like seeing this show it's weird because there's a disconnect and a direct alignment. So like when I look at dating in the queer world, right? There are so many alternative ways that people live their lives in very much true to form queerness. Yeah. These uh I and I jokingly but very lovingly lovingly call them my little creatures because like queer people be little creatures out here because they just be like, you know, it's just this radical or at least attempt at being like radical way of living, questioning homogeneity, questioning heteronormativity, qu questioning compulsory heteronormative behavior, all of these things. Do they do that perfectly? Hell no. Uh the way that I do also be getting aggressed or getting like some crazy shady ass comments or whatever. It all happens. However, there is more hope for me in this space because I can see a very real attempt at doing something else. Do you know what I mean? And so when I so I see that, but also I also see a direct correlation to the expectation of people acting XYZ. You know, just because you're acting in a queer space and you're trying to like redefine whatever, we still be creating archetypes for each other to follow. Which is crazy. You know, oh a stud acts this way, oh a butch femme or a butch uh lesbian acts this way, a femme person acts this way.
SPEAKER_02And on top of that, you as a queer person, you have to know what all of those things are. Girl. Do you know what I mean? Like, you have to, you have to, even if you don't believe in it or subscribe to it, you have to know it. A hundred percent.
SPEAKER_01And that's the same thing in like in heterosexual culture where it's like some people, let's say somebody doesn't grow up in like evangelical Christian vibes. There you still have to know that script to date in a straight world, which is crazy. Like, even if you don't believe in that evangelical mindset, you still have to know it to follow that script because it's the dominant script. And I say all of this because online you can see an absolute script of what it is to be a radical person, what it is to exist within a radical space or take on radical lenses. When we out there in the streets though, it is a different it's a different people don't know shit.
SPEAKER_02People don't know shit, and I think a great I think a great touch point. I mean you brought up the US Love Island, but I think the UK Love Island is is showing like a really interesting touch point of this exact thing. Um because first off, free my girl jazz, justice for Jasmine from literally quite literally everyone. Damn. Okay. It's Jasmine versus the world. I bring up this example because I learned something new from on internet discourse. The concept of somebody being pink pilled. Damn. Moment of silence for all the women that came before.
SPEAKER_01Truly like truly pink of silence. As in like someone in feminism.
SPEAKER_02As in somehow these plebeians are claiming. Oh my god. That you can read into feminism and be too feminist. I guess. I didn't even like I genuinely was like, what is that? What like actually what? Tell me what that is. And it's it's a it's a um, I think it's like a hangover from the sparkle sparkle. Um and it's like I see where you're trying to go, and yet you couldn't be further from the path. Correct. Like you you are lost in the woods, yes. My guy. Um if if a woman wants to be like sparkle sparkle, if a woman wants to be like, oh, fuck this dude, because he's he's a waste man. I'm like, yes. I don't I don't need you as a woman to explain to me why a man hurting your feelings or oppressing you is valid or legitimate. First off, when red pill exists, you're out here, you're out here talking about pink pill as if like red pill didn't come first. Um and second off I mean, honey. That's on primary colors. Red. Red plus white supremacy equals pink. That's all I'm seeing right now because this woman, God forbid, she wants to discuss the double standards women have to go through on a daily basis on a silly TV show. Um, everyone jumping her in the comments being like, Why the fuck would a feminist go on Love Island? Yeah. And listen, why the fuck would anyone do anything in this day and age? Why the fuck are you watching Love Island then? If you're such a feminist. If you're such a feminist, yeah. Riddle me this. This girl, and then she crumbles within two seconds at the hands of a manipulative, narcissistic, horrific white man. And I'm like, I've seen this script before. And and and now everyone's like, oh, well, so sh see, she doesn't stand on business, she's actually fake. Um, excuse me, have you been in an abusive relationship? Have you experienced emotional manipulation? And have you experienced that as a as a a brown woman at the hands of a white man who does not like your people? Yeah. Because I'm sorry, but I've seen Love Island from the beginning. There's anti-blackness every season. Yeah. There's anti-blackness every season. Yeah. And yet we can't offer the same critique when it comes to Jasmine and Cavan. God forbid we punish an intellectual brown woman on a show for doing anything. I'm sorry, she steps the wrong way, and y'all are down her throats, and you're accusing her of not being feminist. Make this make this make any type of sense. And this is why, and this is why this connects. It's because of this idea that these debriefs, these Love Island debriefs, this Twitter comments, this beef, whatever. Like I do not believe that this stuff is being done in good faith. I do not believe that this is being done for for radical, you know, freedom from the systems. Oh. I don't believe that the discourse is coming from a place of let's also, you know, hold women accountable. What the fuck are you talking about? What the fuck are you talking about? Actually. First off, hold yourself accountable. Second off, second off, shut the fuck up. Maybe. Maybe shut the fuck up. Who actually even are you? You're a random person on an internet that went viral, yeah, you know, making debriefs about a pop culture show that as much as I love and I watch all the time is c is TV garbage. Yeah. It's TV garbage, and it is horrifically replicating the systems that you brought up. Yeah. And and the patterns that happen year after year after year, and it's literally quite literally the producer's job to replicate those patterns. Or it's the producer's job to listen to the public. Yeah. Yeah. And then replicate the patterns. And the fact of the matter is, if this is what the producers are giving us year after year, still to this day, that means that's what the damn public is saying.
SPEAKER_01And let's take a flight down to Fiji back to US Love Island. Horrific, that's a it's in US Live Island shot in Fiji. The the colonization of it all really just like, damn, y'all. Like, let me take a smoke break already. At least we're in Mallorca. They could have filmed this shit in Malibu. Like they could have just done it in California, bitch. It's crazy. Um they the voting aspect. I wanna send up a prayer. I wanna send over some ancestors. I wanna send over all the spiritual protection I can offer to this to my girl Melanie. Because yes, she has a lot of healing to do in that poor little heart. She does not like herself. She does not know how to be in a smaller body now that she lived a majority of her life in a plus-sized body. She feels deeply uncomfortable with being desired, even though she was beautiful in a plus-sized body as well. She was a literal model, like uh this America is to blame as well for the recoupling of her and Sincere over and over and over again. As well as, I'm so sorry, Anaya, because I do like you. I th I wish you all the best. Da da da da. I think Carl's a great man for you. But oh my god, were you not a sister to her at all? And you know what? You can't force somebody out of their own relationship. You can't do that. I understand that. But the fact that online people are combing this man through the absolute fires, coals of hell because he deserves every second of it. He deserves to get flame, torched, roasted, tar, and feathered in the town square. He is horrible. Horrible, horrible, horrible, nasty behavior. Lying, cheating, and scheming. But y'all kept voting to keep them together. You saw literally so much internet discourse of oh my god, this man literally took the the light out of her eyes. He she was in an abusive relationship. And he was like, oh my god, I can't believe like this poor girl, like she's really suffering, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You keep voting for them to be together. They also chose each other multiple times. I'm not gonna, I'm not offloading the blame.
SPEAKER_02But it's the same it is They did the same thing in the in the last season. Now, I'm not trying to be a Huda stand in any capacity of the word, but they did the same, they did the same thing with the whole separating Huda and Jeremiah uh and putting Jeremiah with another couple. You did that, knowing that would cause liter quite literally a psychotic mental breakdown. Yeah. That's that's exactly why you did it. Yeah. We know these people haven't been properly screened for mental mental health. No, we know that the system is rigged. Yeah, we know that the producers are fucking the system is rigged. What about your role? Yeah. And you wanted the downfall of Huda so bad, and you wanted Huda and Jeremiah, which yes, was a very toxic relationship, to break up so bad that you straight up gave this girl a psychotic mental breakdown for like the next like two years. Yeah. It's still going on. Yeah. That shit is still like she is not well. And so if you want to own up to your part of the I did it for drama, we want, you know, this we did our big one with that vote. We did, you know. Yeah. You still have to take into account your responsibility, and like it's exactly what's happening with Twitter fingers, right? It's the same thing. You're voting and you are shaping the events of someone's story.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And who's gonna hold you responsible? Who's gonna hold you accountable? No one.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. And that, I mean, that is that's what we're asking, right? It's like what are you committed to behind closed doors? What are you committed to behind an avatar? What are you committed to behind whatever you use as um a projected, you know, uh what is supposed to be yourself, you know, on this online space because the it's so because we both work in service, right? We we have direct and we both work with people who are younger than us by a good margin. Um I'm one of the older people who work at my shop, but like I we I've across both stores, I work with someone as young as 18 to someone as old as 35. And across the board it is even in the two years I've been working at this particular store, I have seen such a I don't know if it's a decline or if it's just more of an unveiling of the severity of which personal reflection and actual communication just does not exist. Because the you know, I'm not gonna air out his I'm not gonna air out my coworkers, you know, shit. But it's just you know, I I talk to like these young men who I work with or young people who I work with, and it's like, oh yeah, I just go home and then I play video games for like seven hours. But you identify as a very radical person, but you're online as fuck. And I don't know what your work is, I can't tell you that. But I know it's not arguing with people in the comments.
SPEAKER_02I mean, not just arguing, but also like if if you're gonna make a point and if you're gonna argue to the point of having a point, how the fuck did you arrive to that conclusion? Exactly. Like this is this is what I'm wondering. Like, where have this where has this all even?
SPEAKER_01Because there's this weird proponent of like everyone knows that people who are like, let's let's talk about the people in the gray area, right? That they might have leftist ideals, but they are not outside. There, there is always an understanding. Oh, I know what the right thing is. But I d again, like you just said, but I don't have the foundational knowledge of what gets you to that understanding. They only know it because they see it reflected in these infographics that are parroted over and over and over again. It's this disgusting cycle, right? And the they feel it's like, okay, I'm gonna identify with this correct ideal or this correct answer or whatever, because I'm scared of saying the incorrect thing because I see what this surveillance state does to people who are quote unquote wrong in the eyes of the populace. Right. But the populace ain't shit because behind closed doors, they're not living none of those ideals, and so we are creating these honestly mini manipulators all over the place. These, like, I'm not gonna call them abusers, but we're gonna go abuser L-I-T-E light. Because there are so many people around who are like, oh, well, I believe in X, Y, and Z, and you should too, and da da da. It's like, okay, period. So I'm gonna root myself, I'm gonna do what I feel is the correct thing to do, which is ground myself in whatever knowledge I can find about these certain ideals, how they connect globally, how they connect with our community, da da da da. Am I gonna do that perfectly? No, but I'm gonna keep trying. And I'm gonna have a mind of my damn own. Exactly. I'm gonna have my own independent thoughts. You might not agree with all those thoughts. That's fine. I could get give less of a fuck unless they're harmful. And then, but then you have people who aren't doing that but are saying that they're doing that. And then they dog on people, which my coworker is many of my coworkers I've encountered, are so problematic about doing is that they'll be like, oh, well, X, Y, and Z, and Z and Z. This person did X, Y, Z, Z, Z. And I'm like, and now I'm at the point now that I'm like, I've had it. So I ask them, okay, well, didn't you just do that? Oh, I'm I'm gagging them on the spot because I'm like, no. Exactly. No, we're not, I'm in my presence, you're not doing that, and I'm not letting it slide because you don't get to feel holier than another person. No, you don't get to feel and you don't get to use me, someone whose job that they feel is their job, and their lifelong practice of being a writer and educator. You're not gonna use me as your moral pillar. You are not going to report back to me and feel your safety to the proximity of blackness and brownness. You are not going to feel safe next to me just because we can kiki. No, I'm not allowing that. You don't get to feel comfortable because I make you laugh. And we might even share very similar family history. We might share some really like crucial, like similar life-altering experiences, whatever it may be. That still means nothing to me if you are not pulling your weight. Because I don't play about this politics shit, I don't play about radical anything. I'm not playing about it. You can make mistakes and you can like learn and like be called in, but you are not gonna use people who are actually rooted in this work as scapegoats.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. And you're not gonna use the word itself back to the back to the signs and signifiers. You're not gonna use the word radical as a fixed state. It's not a fixed state, it's never been a fixed state, it's not an identity, it is a way of being, it is a practice, it is if you are going to be radical about say anti-blackness, then you also have to be radical about decolonial praxis. Then you also have to Do you know what I mean? It's like if you are going to be radical in one w form of the word, it's not like, oh, here's all the characteristics that a radical noun has. Yep. Radical to me is a verb. Um, it's it's something that you apply to everything, and that could be uh, you know, in today's day and age, we just we call it like hot take. Yeah. Which is just so stupid, but cool. Um it it's something that you have that's for you that you know that is deeply lonely. It makes you deeply lonely because you know that maybe XYZ other person won't have that exact same take. Yeah. And that's fine. Because as we mentioned in the last episode, living a radical life is lonely. It is fucking lonely, and and you are not, as as you said at the top of the show, we can be fighting for the same cause and have different opinions. Yeah. And you are not gonna find your carbon copy Yeah. In the movement. It's it's it's impossible, and that's why there's so much fucking infighting when infighting is really just to me, it's just normal. Can we just agree at the wheel in hand? We don't need to agree about every single minor detail, every single debrief has to be the same. Like, what you're doing is regurgitating the same talking points, and this is the other thing we talked about. I don't know, um, you know, probably just in our in our personal call. We have lived too many years on this earth to recycle the same fucking conversations over and over and over again. Amen. We are we are not doing that anymore. We are not having a conversation that we had when we were 20 years old. Because we have grown eight years since then. We've we've entered and reached into different dimensions of of political thought, or you know, maybe we went down a different rabbit hole one year, maybe we came back to an idea that we had a long time ago. Maybe this this is radical uh questioning, right? But if we are having the same thoughts, if the infographics are saying the same things, and then if one infographic says one thing, and then I see 500 videos saying that exact same thing, you don't have a single original thought. Yeah, and that is it's easy to sniff out from a mile away. I'm so sorry. You think you're doing your big one by posting on your Instagram story, like, oh, this shit is rigged, it's easy to sniff away from from a mile away. And you know, I would love to welcome you to the fight with open arms. Yeah, but but the way that you surveil and the way that you police, yeah. Sometimes is what I said earlier in the show, some shit is not meant for everyone. Amen. You can come into the room, but you don't have to speak. Just attend the meeting, take notes. Literally, and you know what?
SPEAKER_01That is that is um a real lesson that I have had to learn and I keep learning over and over again. That's some real shit, actually. You know, if I'm being transparent, you know, thinking of the last, you know, decade of self-radicalization and um a lot of internal work with that. Um I'm a bitch with a lot of opinions and a lot of thoughts. Yeah. And I think when I started entering different, you know, I've definitely didn't start in radical spaces. I was in very liberal spaces, but regardless, the spaces that felt radical to me at that time, um, I remember just one being so excited to be in a an alternative space to what I was raised through. And in that excitement, I would get ahead of myself and be like offer. I remember one of the most like egg on my face moments was like going into the Belmont journalism department and being like, so what if you guys started like writing about music, but like better?
SPEAKER_02Has a point. I'm looking at you, Pitchfork.
SPEAKER_01Oh, listen. Oh, well, yes. We're looking deeply, we're looking pitchfork right in the butt. But the I was I really said knock, knock, knock. What if you guys did this better? Here are my thoughts. And like Dorian being gooped by like the audacity, but also like low-key, I was in the wrong. Like, I was just in the wrong.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01And you know, you learn through different spaces, like, okay, damn, that was hardcore egg on my face. The the first piece that I wrote for them was so like had to get edited so fiercely. I was like, damn, okay, let me, let me, let me shut the fuck up. And, you know, and I've it's been basically that kind of same scenario that I've learned over and over and over again, and have like tried to, you know, um enter in spaces and and not dim the light, but also learn how to actually read and be a part of a space before uh adding and it and adding my own shit to it. Um, and that is like it I under defensiveness defensiveness comes up, you know, not feeling desired comes up. There's a lot of things that come up that are valid feelings, but as we have said many times in many episodes, you are responsible for your feelings. Other people are responsible for harm, as you are also responsible for the harm you dole. You are responsible for your feelings. Nobody makes you feel anything, you feel something. Yep. And like sometimes I can feel like damn, like what do you mean? Like, no, like they did this, they did this, blah, blah, blah, blah. It's like, right. A thing happened, an occurrence happened, and you felt a feeling.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Unless it was harm, of course. Then that's a whole different thing, diversion that you go into that.
SPEAKER_02That's why, in a way, I think we need to again, side note, humorous side note. We need to bring back sorry you feel that way. Stop! Well, okay, like at the the fact of the matter is I grew up in a very like I grew up in a household where an apology like meant nothing. Like sure. Like it was like, you did some fuck shit, you say sorry, and my mom's like, what is that supposed to do for me? Yeah, honestly, T though. And I'm like, okay, fair. Fair point. Because what really is the is the point of a sorry is to think about that, right? Reflect on it, and then not do the harm again. Correct. That's what the point of the sorry is. Not just saying sorry. So then why are we policing? And I know, you know, we we started policing it because like manipulative men started using it, and you know. I'm sorry. Yeah, like I I know where it came from, but at the same time, in the genuine meaning of the phrase, yeah. I'm sorry you feel that way. To me, it feels like a legitimate thing to say. Nothing to me, as a person that doesn't feel like any apology is going to make up for harm.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Necessarily, I'm sorry you feel that way. I think is true. Like, sure, I don't want someone to feel upset. I don't want someone to feel, you know, angry or attacked or hurt. And I'm going to do something about it if I can help it. I'm going to do something about it to tr for it to try to not be that. And then in the other 50% of the cases, in fact, I am not sorry. And that is also okay. And that is also okay. Because if you in your heart feel like you have really thought about what's happened and what's taken place, and you feel like there's nothing you really did, how is anyone else gonna convince you of that? No one else can convince anyone to feel bad for what they've done.
SPEAKER_01No, and that's where, you know, shout out to the Liberation Practice Field cohort that has now ended, but I was a part of that, you know, our one of the last major like classes that we did was about forgiveness. And it was about like how the rhythm of forgiveness can actually be um Should actually flow, or at least ideally should flow. And you know, like the concept of like asking the uh like a saled person, like, can I apologize? Like, are you in a space to receive an apology? Right. Do you is an apology even something you want? Right. Sometimes people don't even want apologies. That's fine.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01Um, you know, there's so many ways to engage in harmful communication or even just conflict, right? Because like when we're talking about infighting, infighting is just unresolved conflict.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It isn't even like fighting for real. It's we have a conflict that we are not resolving in a healthy way, so it keeps coming back over and over and over again. It's like without mediation or without some kind of like there's there's ego involved, there's a bunch of stuff involved. But it's just like at the end of the day, y'all just aren't learning how to be in conflict, and you're also not learning how to work within conflict. Anyone who's worked in the service industry knows you can work in conflict. You know what I mean? Like, I don't like all of my coworkers, I just don't. My whole you know, 12 years of working in some former facet of service, I have not liked all of my coworkers, and that is fine, and that's fine, because you know what? At the end of the day, it's the night, and we still gotta close, bitch.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. And that's what we're doing in that moment. I'm not trying to create a lifelong friendship with every single coworker.
SPEAKER_01Like, it's just not you're not gonna be besties with every person in the village. That's just not feasible.
SPEAKER_02We've we've reverted, like, kind of like what you said. We have in fact reverted to this very, I do think weirdly, like 50s era like morality where it's like, oh, if you like don't like someone, that's a reflection of you. And I was like, uh okay, like, yeah, I don't like them. That's not a moral positive or negative. Like, I just don't get on with them. I I don't think it's the end of the world that I don't. I will happily close my finish my shift with them. I have no problems having a laugh. I have no problems doing what we need to do, I have no problems getting through the night. But yeah, why are you trying to criminalize me for not like penalize me for not liking someone?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and I've had that internal dialogue of like, you know, sometimes I feel I think you're right, it is very 1950s, it's it feels a bit antiquated because it also is like if we're thinking of the silent generation, right? Right. At the in the 50s, it was beginning because of uh well, beginnings of a lot of uh not integration, obviously, but just a lot of migration of uh a lot of black and POC people. There's a lot of the urban landscape changed, the suburban landscape was starting to be built. This huge propaganda about the nuclear family, you know, the the homogeneity, right? Uh all of the but homogeneity was only for white people, basically. And now that we it is, it's and uh the temptation to be white is right on our taste buds yet again. Because black men and black children keep getting fucking capped in the streets. Black trans women keep getting fucking capped in the streets, uh people are becoming victims and murdered by ice. Every person of color under the sun is being hunted down, in the at least in the United States. And yeah, the desire to be white, the desire for homogeneity is deep. They are making it very, very tempting to be white.
SPEAKER_02They sure are.
SPEAKER_01You know, going on that this country's the enemy, this person's the enemy, this country has it rigged, this other country has it rigged, all this other shit, they're making it, you're they're making you afraid to root for teams in a goddamn World Cup when it's like, bro, at the end of the day, it's fucking sports.
SPEAKER_02It's it's we do it for the love of the game, and if you don't know shit about shit, then why the fuck are you speaking up? From the heart of the empire. This is all a distraction. It's all a distraction. It's all a distraction. And you can say, yeah, well sp sports, why are you watching sports? It's bread and circus. Do you not think we need the bread and circus sometimes? Do you not think you want a a nice, a nice sandwich every every now and then? God forbid, God forbid, we have things that bring us joy in this horrific hellscape of a world we live in. Okay? Yes, yes, football is political, yes, sports is political, but at the same time, it's a fucking game. It's a game. And we have to remember why games were invented. They were invented for entertainment. Okay, they were invented as a way to unite, as a way to bring people together, as a way for people that like a similar thing to be able to talk about it and hold each other and talk to strangers and cheer and sing with at people they've never seen before and will never see again. That's why this exists. You are insufferable. You are fucking insufferable, okay? And I say this as someone again, like I didn't go too much into it on my radio show because this was like a little way before everything uh transpired, even though it was trans. Like, for anyone that started making this argument this past week, I find that absolutely hilarious and amusing given um given some of the events of the group stages uh done by a specific host country. Um but we don't wanna we don't wanna talk about rigory when it comes to uh these white supremacist settler colonial slash colonial nations. Nobody wants to talk about none of that for some strange fucking reason. Even though all of these people that are fucking yapping their mouths off all agree on the fact that they came onto this fucking discourse in the first place, not knowing shit, first off, but second off being like, oh, well, I'm not gonna root for this and I'm gonna support this, having no history or context with the World Cup whatsoever, mind you. You've already come to the to the to the TikTok with a very generalized, really silly take like this happened before it even begun. Where it's like, so who are we meant to root for?
SPEAKER_01Um They said, Oh, my followers are gonna need to hear this.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. It's like, what do you mean, who am I meant to root for? If you need to figure out who to root for in this day and age, uh you just reveal to me that you don't know nothing about nothing, and two, you just you refuse to do any research on context, history, none of that. What's easy is a click baity, rage baity, title grabby. Oh, well, fuck the colonizers. No duh. Fuck the colonizers, but it's so so hilarious how quickly you forgot that. Fuck the colonizers, but US men's national team. Fuck the colonizers, but let's go France. Fuck the colonizers, but let's go Spain, let's go England. I mean, I have a history with football. I know who I support, I know who my family has supported over time, I know who my people have supported over time, I know the history of football, I know the history of colonial politics, and I can make an educated as well as emotional conclusion based on who I've always supported and who I will continue to support, and who I can I can kind of support based on the the the circumstance, and I do that genuinely with no ties to morality whatsoever. I do it because I love the fucking game, I do it because I like how certain teams play. I do it because my parents always told me stories. I do it because I watched football with my grandfather, and I this this this is bigger. It's bigger than oh, I'm not gonna support England because they're my colonizer. It's it's really much bigger than that. No, if you're wondering, I've never supported England. But I've never supported English.
SPEAKER_01But I support the body of Jude Bellingham.
SPEAKER_02I sure do. I sure do. I will support Jed Spence with my eyes closed. Big fan. The fact of the matter is, I'm not even supporting these boys because uh they're about to play Argentina. Let's I don't even want to talk about my stance on Argentina because I'm gonna get shot. Um because I like good football, and that is why I will forever till my dying day be a Latin American football supporter over any type of European football, and that includes England. I like how these boys are playing this year. I will support them because I like them. But I'm not gonna support them because oh, well fuck Argentina, anyone but Argentina. I'm not gonna support not support them because oh, well they colonized us, da da da. I didn't like the England teams prior to this. I didn't like no offense, David Becca. I didn't like Wayne Rooney, offense, please. Full offense. Um like I like when people play good football. Can we just leave it at that? And then not only can you not leave it at that, you are one falling for just like hilarious propaganda. That is not even that, it's not even actually funny, it's actually really harmful. But that's the story for a different time. You're not only falling for propaganda, you are disseminating the propaganda. You are not doing research on the propaganda, you're not looking into what the fuck's actually going on, and then you're making a morality call for a game. My you know, you can make a morality call for someone's behavior off the pitch. I will hundred percent give it to you that that video of the Argentine Argentine team was horrific. It was horrific and it should not have happened. There was an apology, it was horrific. And I will never deny for a second that there's racism in Argentina, I will never deny that there isn't, there wasn't, they didn't take in Nazis in Argentina. Sure, all of that is true, but all of that, who then who the fuck are you gonna support in the World Cup? Really, the only person I can think I can fully definitely support is Haiti. But you know, if if if you want to really talk about who the fuck can you support based on all of this shit, and you want to flatten an entire person's existence and entire nation's existence into one easy digestible box, then how the fuck are you begging the entire world to view your country, the United States, as not a monolith, as a place of varied opinions, as a place of varied people from different cultures with different ideas and different feelings and thoughts. You are begging the world not to stereotype you. You are begging them. And yet you are doing that same exact thing, but worse, to a country that's actually in the global south, to a country that was actually deeply fucked by your country, was continu was and continues to be under colonial duress from the United States and Israel. And you wanna you wanna bash them. As if indigenous people don't exist, as if Afro Argentines don't exist. It's deeply irresponsible, it's deeply fucked up to then cherry pick and choose aspects of history, aspects of quotations that you pull from literally like dictatorial people, dictat dick full dictators, that didn't get pro like democratically voted into power. You are using those sound bites, because it's good rage bait, to further the narrative that what you're saying is, well, Argentines don't consider themselves Latino, Argentines consider them white. Well, you're doing that. You are literally doing that right now by saying, Oh, well, they think of themselves as this, which means you think of them like this. Yeah. So all of that to say, like, I could go on for a long time because it's really hurt my spirit and my heart, as like in you know, in Bengal, we have a long-standing history of love for Brazil and Argentina. Because, yes, because of politics, but also because of the beauty and the heart on the pitch. That is why. That is why. And if you want to chalk that all up to it being rigged, if you want to talk about FIFA corruption, look up FIFA corruption.
SPEAKER_01As a non-watcher, look. I I think everyone and their mama knows. It's like knowing the NFL is corrupt, it's like, girl.
SPEAKER_02FIFA is corrupt because it's a non-profit organization that profits. FIFA is not corrupt because the World Cup is rigged. Okay. I I'm so sorry to tell you this as a radical leftist. You're you can't rig talent. You can rig uh behind the scenes uh you know where channels of money are going. But I am also sorry to tell you, Argentina does not have the funds to rig two World Cups in a row. And I'm also telling you that at the end of the day, there is gonna be referee inconsistencies, there's gonna be different forms of bias in every match. If you actually want to understand how, you know, countries get chosen for the World Cup, how then World Cup hosts get an easier path. If you really want to understand finances and its relationship to football, it's a lot more than oh, they're gonna make it so that this country wins. That it doesn't work like that. It does, it simply does not work like that. And if you can look at some of these calls and dispute them and take it so seriously that it's a political issue, I'm I'm so sorry for the next 20 years of football to come because I my entire life have mourned a lot of referee decisions and then been like, yeah, we lost. Sucks. Or in certain cases, oh, well, that was a lot of, you know, I'm talking to you, Germany. That was a lot of fuck shit that I just saw the entire tournament that you got away with. Fine, that was your golden era. Now you're losers. Losers, right? I have never I've never seen this kind of like you root for the underdog, and the underdog loses because they're not yet to the point they need more experience, they're incredible, but they need more experience. That's the point of an underdog. I have shout out cowboy, I have rooted for losers all my life. Okay, including myself. And what does that do? Makes me love the damn game, brings me together with my other comrades. Okay. I never taken any of those examples to say, oh, well, Europe's rigging it against Latin America. Never once. Okay, so I I genuinely feel like there's this crisis of faith, and I do think 99% of the things are genuinely rage bait for profit, and that's why this connects to the larger conversation, is because if you talk to people one-to-one, you can have a conversation. You can even have an argument, you can have a debate, you can have an understanding, and then when you're when you're erratically minded, you often do believe in the same things.
SPEAKER_01How I'm seeing this reflect as well, um, you know, looping it back into how it, you know, the different layers and microcosms that it exists within. Um, it's really comes down to like the stupid electoral politics of like harm reduction. It's like we know the Democratic Party sucks absolute shit. They are the reason, well not the sole reason, but they are they had every opportunity to end the genocide in Gaza. They had every opportunity to fix so much shit, to codify women's abortion rights, to codify uh the uh right to same-sex marriage. They had the right to they had the ability to do all of that shit to appoint better judges on the Supreme Court. They had all of those opportunities and missed every single opportunity. Why? Because it serves them to engage in this rage bait because they get to fill their fat ass pockets with donor money, with pack money, with uh lobbying money, all of this shit. They don't care. They don't care for all intents of gov or in all intents of purposes, a government functions as a nonprofit as well. Technically, a country doesn't really make that much money unless they're engaging in shit like global warfare in the selling and buying of arms or the uh selling and buying of People, because that was the previous that was the previous endeavor. Uh, we weren't making that much money on the fucking cotton and tobacco honey. It was a lot of money in buying and selling people. Um and so, you know, this hopping on to say, oh, we should vote for this or we should rally behind this specific team because this other person is the the obvious bigger opponent or the obvious like colonizer or whatever. It's like, uh what are you talking about? Because there's abusers on both sides, mama. Both sides, but bikini definitely gonna be going getting his ass whooped in trial, even the forward for Cabo Verde. And come out completely fine against him. You know, exactly. There are people side of shit. And if y'all don't learn how to wake the fuck up and learn how to name things, and we have a we have a historic, I mean it's just the last thing.
SPEAKER_02We have a historic generational match coming up. Yeah. England and Argentina, and all of you losers, all of you losers have like, and and I'm this is my true neutral. This is my true neutral. I don't care. I I want them to have a great time. I want I want everyone to win. Um, but like I never would have thought. I feel like the ancestors are turning in their grave that ever since Maradona England, the England, Hand of God, but you know, everyone brings up hand of God and cheating, but nobody wants to bring up that other goal that was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It made me cry. Um, including the commentary. Never would anyone think that decades after that everyone would be supporting England against Argentina. Why is that? Because of what you said. Yeah. Because of what you said, this this need, this constant need to to kind of almost like a snake, slither around all the things that are the reality and the facts of every situation in order to prove honestly like a neoliberal neoliberal radical stance. Totally. And if you wanted to squeak of the squeaky king perfection, if you wanted to do you wanted to do the same shit with Kamala, you wanted to do it, you want to rinse your hands. Yes. You want to wash your hands of it and say, that's not me.
SPEAKER_01A hundred percent.
SPEAKER_02But at the end of the day, we live in the far right world order everywhere. We live in a in a degradation of societal values, we live in a confusion of morality. And it is our job, it is our job to continue to do the research, continue to have boots on the ground, to continue to listen to each other and learn from each other, but also to continue to challenge each other.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And if we cannot do that, if we cannot do that, then you will be on your hands and knees for your former colonial masters. Boot bootlicking. Bootlicking. And is that what your ancestors wanted? No. I can support the England team and not have any qualms about my literal own family's colonization in this case. But does that mean I support England? No. As a state? No. Does that mean I support, you know, the immigrants to England that are fighting for their all to prove to the rest of the world that they belong on the pitch?
SPEAKER_01Yes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And guess what? I feel that way for every nation in the World Cup.
SPEAKER_01Totally.
SPEAKER_02For every nation equally. I hope we all fight to the end of our days. I hope when we get on the pitch, we play with joy. And we play with heart. Stay committed. Stay.
SPEAKER_01And on that note, ladies and gentlemen, I think that's a wrap. Stay committed. Well, that just about wraps the show, and I need to fucking brush my teeth and sprint the hell out of here.
