Welcome to Spirituality on the Go, the podcast where you can find simple, practical tools to put in your spiritual toolbox to help you find more inner calm, connect with divine flow and experience, clarity, purpose, joy amidst life's busy moments. As we enter the Easter season in the Christian world, I invite you to take a few moments to reflect with me on the cross, not just as a symbol of faith or something that happened in the past, but rather as a living metaphor for your own life. So for a moment, picture the cross in your imagination, in your mind. Imagine the vertical plank, the one that's going up and down that reaches upward and downward between heaven and earth. The vertical plank of the cross represents the sacred connection between your human self and the divine. It is the reminder that you are more than flesh and bone. You are spirit. You are soul, and you are deeply connected to God. One with God, living in and through you. This connection with the divine grows stronger, not by doing more, but by being still, by taking time each day to listen to your inner self, to embrace the sacred inner teacher that speaks with love and wisdom to you. It is a whisper, a knowing deep within and these divine whispers, they come to us to guide us with clarity in the next steps in our lives. They show you the way to peace, to joy, to wholeness. That's the vertical up and down plank of the cross. That connects you with heaven and earth, your human and divine nature. Now take a moment and imagine the horizontal plank of the cross, a long piece of wood that stretches like your arms stretching outward. This horizontal plank of the cross is the place of relationship with others and with all of creation. It's here in the messiness and beauty of everyday life that you're invited to live the horizontal plank of the cross to practice patience, to extend grace, to learn what it means to be human. And to love unconditionally even when it's hard. Now, imagine the center of the cross where these two beams meet. The center is the Christ space within you, the cosmic Christ dwelling within you, fully human, fully divine. Christ stands at the intersection of heaven and earth. In his human life, Jesus modeled for us how to live love, how to pray, how to serve, how to forgive, and how to die, and then rise again. So just imagine this vertical cross, up and down that connects you, your human and divine nature. And then the horizontal cross, the plank that extends to all the relationships you have on this physical earth with people and all of creation. And then imagine the center of that cross there within your chest, within your heart and soul. That's the Christ Center, the circle of love that lives and breathes within your soul as divine love. Let's take a few moments now, if you would, to enter into a short guided meditation to help you experience more deeply the cross is a metaphor for your life. Let's begin. Find a safe place for you to sit in the quiet for a few moments. And when you're ready, just close your eyes, turn your awareness inward. Take a deep breath in, and then slowly let it out. And feel your feet on the ground. Feel your body supported by the earth. Allow yourself to arrive in this moment to be here, present now. Now imagine the vertical beam of the cross, the one that goes up and down between heaven and earth. Feel that beam running through your body from the crown of your head through your heart down to your feet and into the earth. This is your connection to God, to Source, to love. In the stillness. Listen. In the stillness, do you hear the whisper of the divine offering you a word or a phrase, a message to take into your day? Is there a whisper of gentle guidance that you hear offering you in the silence? Next. Imagine the horizontal beam extending out from your shoulders. Feel your arms open wide. This is your connection to the world, to other people, to all of creation and the physical world. As you imagine your arms wide open, extending outward, ponder this question: Who or what are you being invited to love today? How might you bring compassion, forgiveness, or kindness to someone in your life today? Just let God bring to mind someone with whom God is inviting you to love ever more deeply today. And now, feel the intersection, the center of your chest, your heart, your soul space, your heart. The center of your chest is the sacred meeting place where Heaven and earth meet, where Christ, the cosmic Christ lives within you as divine love, divine guidance. Breathe into that deep space within your soul, within your heart, and feel yourself connected on the inside, the oneness of love, divine love within you as you are one with the spirit of God. Let yourself just rest there for a few moments, And when you're ready, open your eyes. Allow yourself to come back to this place where you're sitting. And as you go through your day, remember this, you are connected, you are loved, you are being guided, and you are called to live the law of love: to love God, love yourself, and love others. You are the divine essence of God's love in your human form; the Beloved. Allow the intersection of the cross, the vertical between heaven and earth, your human and divine nature, the horizontal extending from your heart space out to the relationships in your life, and the center there in your chest where divine love resides in you as the Holy Spirit, leading you, guiding you, reminding you: you are love, you are loved. Thank you for joining me on this episode of Spirituality on the Go. If this reflection spoke to you, I'd invite you to feel free to share it with someone you love. Until next time, may you walk in the Divine Flow of God's love here and now.
