Welcome to Spirituality on the Go. Today we're gonna enter into a fun conversation between your True Self and your false self. I'll give you a little bit of background, and then I'll walk you through a guided meditation so you can have a loving conversation with your inner self, that True Self and your false self. To begin with, have you ever felt like there's a noisy voice in your head? It's constantly judging you, comparing you, trying to run the show, and being in control. I call that noisy voice in my head, Henry. Maybe you've met your noisy voice in your head too. Someone like Henry. Henry's my false self, also known as the false ego. He's the part of us shaped by fear, perfectionism, and the need to prove or protect ourselves. That false self is built from half truths and old wounds. The false self, the false ego, whispers things like: you're not good enough, or you should be more like that person, or maybe what they're saying about you is true. You are not good. It may even say you're bad. It's not our truest identity, though. But it often tries to take the lead in those voices in our head. But beneath the noise of our false self, lives something, another voice that's deeper and truer than that, and that's your True Self. The True Self is who you really are. The person God made you in God's image and likeness. The True Self is rooted in love, grounded in peace. The True Self listens for that still small voice of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit within us that gently speaks truth to us, reminds us that we're one with God and we're already held, already loved. We're already enough, just as we are. In the guided meditation that follows that you're invited to join me with, I'll invite Henry my false ego, my false self in, not to argue or shame him, but to see Henry, my false ego with compassion. I invite you to find a name for your false ego, just to make him a little less threatening, a little more fun. And in this guided meditation, wherever I use the word Henry, feel free to insert your name for your false ego. And in the guided meditation, we will then reconnect with the calm, steady voice, the presence of our True Self, so we can open our hearts to God's gentle whisper. So let's take a few breaths. If you would find a quiet space, a safe place where you can be in solitude for next couple of minutes. A;low yourself to just rest in the present moment and let's begin a conversation between all the parts of you, the parts of you that are held in love. As you sit there, get comfortable. Perhaps if you'd like, close your eyes or soften your gaze and take a few deep cleansing breaths. Breathe in and breathe out. Breathe in and breathe out. Let your breath draw you into this present moment. Allow your focus on the breath, the spirit of God within you, to allow your mind to quiet and sink into your heart space. Maybe feel your feet on the ground to ground yourself in the earth. The same earth that Christ and the saints and so many wise men and women have walked, the same earth that you and I walk on. Feel yourself held by the chair you're sitting in. Feel your body connected to the earth, connected to God. And maybe softly whisper to yourself,"here I am Lord, all of me, my True Self and my false self. Even the parts of myself I don't understand. I just bring them here and now to you." And next picture, your Henry, your inner false self. Imagine what does he look like today? Is your inner false self anxious, critical, controlling, afraid? Let your inner Henry show up without judgment. Just notice that false self present as part of you, part of your human being. Now as you imagine what your false self looks like, maybe give him a name. Who would you call your false self? What does he look like? What is your false self saying to you in this moment? What words in the back of your head, in the back of your mind, does your false self say to you? It might be something like,"you're always behind the eight ball. You should do better. You're not good enough. You are what everybody says you are." Whatever noise you hear in your head, just recognize that's your false self. For me, it's Henry showing up, gibber jabbing at me, like an inner critic. Those voices in my head that won't be quiet. And then gently, lovingly say to your false self, I see you,"I hear you, but you're not in charge today. I'm gonna love you. No matter what. I know you're there. I know you are trying to protect me to guard me, but you're not truth." And then imagine your True Self, the part of you that's rooted in God's love, the part of you that feels whole, calm wise. Where do you feel your True Self there in your body? It might be in your heart space. It might be in your gut, your stomach. It might be in your whole body. Just a feeling of flow, of love, of peace. Just let yourself rest in your True Self, your divine image made in the image and likeness of God who is pure love. Invite your True Self now to speak. Let it say what it needs to say. Let your True Self respond to Henry, your false self, in a loving conversation with kindness and clarity. You might hear your True Self, your voice of love say,"we don't have to hustle to be loved. Henry, we're safe. We enough? How about we walk with trust today? Henry, how about youjust let yourself be loved, by me, your True Self and God? Let the voice of your True Self, the voice of love, sink into your body like sunlight on your skin. Just feel the love of your True Self. Embracing, loving, caring for Henry your false self. Next, turn your focus on God. Ask God to speak to you in that divine, holy whisper of wisdom and love. Maybe ask God,"god, what do you want me to know right now? What are you inviting me to? Understand, how are you inviting me this false self and True Self within me? How are you inviting me to grow?" Listen with the ear of your heart. Just be open to whatever you experience from the God of love who is always there with you and here with you now. If something arises, an image, a word, a phrase, a feeling, receive it as gift from the Creator as a gentle grace that your heart is speaking to you with God's whisper in you. Maybe feel within your body, your false self, your True Self, and God, they're joined with one in one within you. This amazing being you, human and divine one with God. Allow your True Self to thank God and your false self for showing up, for allowing you to be vulnerable and honest with yourself. And then perhaps focus on gratitude. Thanking God for loving you, all of you, even your Henry. And maybe say to God,"God, help me walk today, step by sacred step, from the heart of love. Help me know when it's my false voice that's speaking to me, that inner critic, that you're no good voice. You need to do this or that, you should be better. You're not enough." Let me know when that's my false self speaking to me, and then let me turn to my True Self, the voice of love within me. The voice of truth that knows I am made in the image and likeness of God, and say here I sit my True Self and my false self, one with you, God, that you love. Whenever I forget who I am, whenever I pick up those masks that other people have told me that aren't true, or I tell myself things that are lies that aren't true, bring me back, Lord. Bring me back to you to my True Self. And let me love Henry as you love all of me. Now is you get ready to end this meditation. Just take one more breath. Feel the breath of God, the Holy Spirit flowing within your body. And when you're ready, gently open your eyes, put a little smile on your face and know you're home. You're already home. Home is your inner self loved and guided, embraced by the God who created you, the God that loves all of you, your false self, and your True Self, and who is continuing to invite you to live from your truest self Home. You are home. Home is where your heart is within you. Rest be. Allow yourself to embrace all of you. And after you finish this guided meditation, you might want to journal a couple of things, some questions you might want to journal about. Things like, what did my false self say to me today? How did my True Self respond? What word or invitation did I receive from God? And how can I walk from my heart today? Thank you for showing up today for this podcast, for this guided meditation. For showing up for yourself, your True Self and your false self held and embraced by God. May you continue to live in the divine flow of God's amazing grace. Until next time, God bless.
