Brian Plachta:

Today we focus on a simple question: What is wisdom? Wisdom is one of those words that we don't hear much about these days. It's not used often, but it's one of the core pieces of living in a sense of wholeness, of being united in mind, body and spirit. Wholeness and wisdom go together. And wisdom is the ability to discern what is true and what its false. Wisdom is the ability to listen deeply to our hearts, our souls to be guided by the Holy Spirit, the one who created, and formed us, our source so that we can live our best life. And wisdom comes from three sources. First, it comes from experience. When I touch a hot stove and burn my finger, I know by experience not to touch that hot stove again. And so we learn wisdom by life's experiences, by the things we go through, by what is good, and brings us closer to joy, peace, and love living from our true self And what Is not so good. What's not life giving, and that becomes a form of wisdom for us. We know and understand what to do and what not to do. The second form of wisdom is spiritual reading, listening to podcasts, reading books that inspire us, learning from others who are just a little bit further than us on the journey. That's why in Finding Flow on the path of divine flow, the second pillar of living a lifestyle of living in the divine flow of God's grace is spiritual reading. Because when we get wisdom through the words of others that have learned wisdom and are now teaching us those things, we put wisdom into our brain through those words we chew on; things other than just the world, and we allow ourselves to focus on things that inspire us to grow. The third form of wisdom that comes to us is what I call light bulb knowledge. St. John of the Cross calls it infused wisdom. It's when you're walking along perhaps and all of a sudden, an idea pops into your head, an answer to a problem or a question you had all of a sudden just arises within you, and that's that light bulb knowledge that God provides us when we're just simply have an open heart and an open mind. One of the key individuals in scripture who prayed for and gained wisdom is Solomon. When he was made king, God said, ask for anything you want. And Solomon prayed for wisdom. And God granted him the wisdom to understand the many decisions he would have to make during his life. One of which we see when two women came to him and were claiming each of them were the mother of the baby that they held. And Solomon in his wise wisdom paused and said, give me the baby and I'll cut it in half. Solomon knew because he gained wisdom from God that the true mother would say, give the baby to the other woman, because the true mother would want her child to live. And so Solomon, through his wisdom granted to him, by God awarded the baby to the true mother. May you and I pray for the gift of wisdom, may wisdom be a grace, a virtue that God gives to us when we seek it with all our heart, our mind, and our bodies. Have a great day and may wisdom be yours today. God bless.
