Welcome friends to another episode of Spirituality on the Go. Today, I'd like to invite you to experience something sacred, a way of meeting God that goes beyond the limits of our intellect, beyond words, beyond theology. Because God often invites us to use our holy imagination to let the spirit paint an image, a feeling.
Or a word upon the canvas of our hearts, through our imagination, the invisible becomes intimate. The divine moves from an idea in our minds to a presence we can feel in our bodies, in our hearts, and rest in. So as you listen. I invite you to find a quiet, safe space where you can relax.
Find a place where you can spend the next few minutes just being alone with you and God, and know that you, you don't have to figure anything out. I invite you to simply be open as you move into this quiet space. Let your imagination be the doorway. Through which God's love becomes personal to you, you might say, let God have God's way with you.
So with that, let's begin.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath in and let it go.
Your breath is the Holy Spirit breathing in and through you and just feel your breath, the spirit of God breathing deeply within you, allowing your body to soften, Your mind to sink into your heart space.
With each breath, allow your mind to quiet.
Just experience the beauty of God's spirit, your breath flowing within you. In this moment, there is only your breath. The Holy Spirit, this moment, this divine presence.
Now invite God to reveal an image of divine love. God's face to you, God is love, and so allow the face of God. To just simply arise within you.
What does the face of God look like to you? The face of divine love.
You might offer a simple prayer to God. God, show me your face. Show me your face, God.
Show me your face.
Just notice what arises naturally. Don't force an image, just let it find you. Within you, you might see an actual face, a strong, gentle, radiant face in your imagination. Perhaps a symbol arises within you, a flame, a light, a word, or it might be simply a feeling, a peace, warmth, love, whatever comes. Trust that this is how the divine wishes to appear to you today.
To answer your prayer, show me your face, God. Cradle whatever rises up within you in your heart space.
Imagine that image of God moving closer, closer within you, closer still until it rests right at the center of your being. In your heart space, or perhaps in the space just below your rib cage, which they call the solar plexus. Wherever you feel the image of God rising with you, just notice it. This is the glow of life and spirit dwelling within you.
With each breath, feel that presence expanding within you. A warm, gentle light, filling your chest, perhaps flowing through your whole body, your arms, your legs, your face, and let that inner light, that image of God's face within you, remind you the face of God is not found. Somewhere out there, the face of God is discovered in the quiet glow of your own awakened heart, the face of God. Is in the stillness of your own being.
If your mind wanders, which sometimes it does, that's okay. Simply come back to your breath, the spirit of God flowing within you through your breath, and then come back to the image, the face of God resting inside you.
Notice the felt sense in your body to just simply allow this face of God, this divine love within you.
Notice the peace that's already there within you when you simply. Allow the face of God to glow within your body, your heart.
You don't have to cling to this image. It's a gift. A gift from God. Just cradle it gently like you would if you held a small bird in your hands. Cradle the image with open palms soft touch. Trusting this image of God is already within you as you, and it will stay with you always forever long it's meant to because what is truly God never leaves you.
It simply becomes part of you, part of who you are, because you are the divine essence of God's love and the face of God. God's divine love resides, lives and breathes within you.
Now, as we come to an end of this guided meditation. Let this image within you slowly dissolve into a pure light, the light of God's presence that fills your mind, body, and spirit, the face of God in you, as you.
And then take one final deep breath. And whisper to God a simple prayer of gratitude. Thank you, God for revealing your face within me. Thank you, God, for showing me your face within me. Carry this divine presence within you throughout your day. It's not something you need to find. It's already who you are.
God's divine living, a reflection of love in the world.
And when you're ready, just bring yourself back to this present moment. Become aware of your body wherever you are, and open your eyes.
Thank you for joining me for this meditation. Thank you for taking the time to invite God to show you God's face. And remember that the face of God shines within you. You can cradle it, let it guide it, let it become your guide. At the face of God, God's face of love, loves you and lives in and through you.
God bless. Thank you.
