She is passionate about cultivating empathy and agency in learners of all ages. In this part of the conversation, the topic turns to college and how it's become the obligatory next step after high school for anyone who wants to succeed, but is it really the right step for everyone. Phalana Tiller talks about a revolutionary program that is an alternative to college and provides a targeted progression for people wanting to go into skilled trades. It was so powerful that several people on the tour she took were moved to tears by the possibilities it presented for young people to make the lives they were dreaming of.
